Yaaassss sLay all day!
JOB POSTING ONE! BIG PAYOUT FOR EASY WORK!
I am a pharmacist looking for some brave adventurers willing to go down into the dungeon and collect dongle flower milk for me. I need at least 10 bottles! This is an important ingredient in one of my popular prescriptions. I am not athletic enough to go get it myself and my supplies are running low.
Please deliver all dongle flower milk to the medical shop in the northwest corner of the market. Please note, I need FULL bottles. Do not skimp or I won't pay!
JOB POSTING TWO! HELP A WOMAN'S GROWING BUSINESS!
I am a young lady looking to expand my make-up business. I heard rumors that there's water in the dungeon that could make an AMAZING base for make-up products. But it sounds like it's super scary in there and I don't want to go. Please, someone, help!
You can bring all bottles of dungeon water to the make-up booth in the southeast corner of the market. I'm willing to pay in chips or trade some of my current products. My face masks and nail polishes are really good!
JOB POSTING THREE! PLEASE DON'T ASK WHY!
Hello. I need many dungeon slime cores, so I am looking for everyone and anyone willing to go slime hunting and gather some for me. We can negotiate pay based upon the number of slime cores brought. Do not inquire what the slimes or their cores are needed for.
Please bring all slime and slime core deliveries to back door of the Dried and Baked Sundries shop. Thank you!
JOB POSTING FOUR! I WANT COLLECTABLES!
If you're going into the dungeon, I want collectables. If you find that fabled treasure room, bring me back something cool and shiny. I'm willing to pay good money! I don't care what it is as long as it's hard to get and I can brag to my friends about it.
You can find me drinking in the tavern. I'll be wearing expensive velvet and a tiny hat with a feather.

▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's November event and is designed to provide content for players through the mods' December break. The marketplace and dungeon will ICly conclude on January 1st.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header. The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!

▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.

Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"We should keep moving," he says. "Or that damned wind will freeze us out."
He isn't sure where they're headed, but there is always the sense that he must keep pressing on. They cannot linger.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"Here, take this. Go on. We need to keep you warm."
The fact that he'll end up naked doesn't really bother him whatsoever. It's not as if Arthur can see, for one, and for another, most of the other people here just see that as making things that much easier to get started. John, thankfully, has no need for things like 'modesty' or 'propriety'. Between being a Great Old One and being the one generally associated with hedonism, ecstasy, and artists of all stripes-
Yeah, he can rock out with his cock out. It might as well just be another tentacle if it comes down to it.
He isn't letting go of Arthur, though. One hand is in his.
"Now we can go."
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"John, are you - are you naked?"
He's said the word fuck with less shame than that.
For some reason, that distracts him more than the information he gleaned from the watch. He's standing next to John, in god knows what form, while Arthur himself is dressed in a slinky snake costume, covered in John's clothes. It's so fucking absurd that he almost laughs about it. If they weren't stuck on some strange cliffs with creaking bridges he can't goddamn see, then it might be funny. Maybe it will be funny later.
Right now, he doesn't want to think about it.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
Fuck.
"Yes," is John's short, clipped answer. Yes, he is. Technically, he always is; clothing is not a separate thing for him. And he could, absolutely, make himself some clothing. He's hesitated on doing that, mostly because he's not sure if the hotel will... well, if the hotel will retaliate. So instead-
"Don't worry about it. I'm fine."
He knows after it leaves his mouth that Arthur is going to make a point of it, probably argue with him, but he's hoping he can-
"How about we get away from this area, over the bridge, and then we can talk about it, all right?"
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"Where's the bridge?"
It's easier to navigate with John's hand in his, though the uneven ground presents an obstacle that Arthur has only barely managed to get through.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
A pause.
"Given how this place works, touching it might make us... sleepy or more inclined to want to touch one another's skin or otherwise... be intimate." Beat. "Most things here do."
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
John's description soothes him enough that he steps to the edge of the bridge and finds the wooden slat with his bare foot.
"Let's make sure we stay on the bridge, then." And he grips John's hand tightly.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"Can you- that is, considering that I'm-" he swallows, "can you feel your toes? O-or my- your arm?"
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
The whole experience feels as if he has a link to John still, but that link is strained. And it isn't alleviated by having this John here.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
Out here. In a body. Separate. He feels that distance too and it's uncomfortable.
"Once we're on stable ground, we can... go through some of it. This place, the body I'm in, what's... been happening lately." Beat. "We're almost to the other side. So far, so good."
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
Then fucking what.
"Let's just worry about the bridge first, John," he says quietly, under his breath as the wind picks up again. He wants to be off the damned thing before they get knocked into oblivion. Still, his hand grips John's tighter, as if afraid he might lose him, he might disappear soon.
He reaches out woth a foot and when it presses on solid ground again, he races forward a few steps, though never outside of John's reach.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
He's not sure. He'd pressed into the connection with Arthur before and now he's-
He swallows as they keep walking and when Arthur goes racing forward, he growls almost immediately.
"Arthur, what are you- where are you going?!"
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
Everything is pressing in on him and he hates it. John is naked. This place wants him to -
Well.
He does wait for him, though.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"What the fuck is that? Why did you- is it that big of a fucking deal to you?" And he'll hear John swear as he huffs and materializes something that he hopes won't aggravate the powers that control this place: a bathingsuits, of the style that is popular in their era, one he'd seen on an advertisement on the train. It's covering more skin than most of the outfits this place likes to put him in, probably knowing how little he cares about it, but it is at least skin tight. He'll let the material on his hip touch Arthur's fingers before he speaks, grumpy and frustrated.
"There. Better?" A growl before- "There's another fucking bridge not fifteen feet beyond where you are now. This place is practically more bridge than land."
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"None of this is fucking better, John. So just - just get us somewhere safe, alright?"
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"What the fuck does that mean, Arthur?" is growled back, but he doesn't actually wait for an answer. Instead, he's going to reach for Arthur's hand.
"I can see the pathway upwards. There's a few more of these bridges to cross. Just follow where I lead and we should be able to make it up just fine before the winds start up again, but there's also what looks like a camp in some ruins after the next bridge. If this tent is like the last one, it will probably withstand the wind just fine."
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
That's what he repeats to himself s they walk again, hand in hand. "I'm - sorry," he adds in after a pause. "This is a lot of information. We were supposed to be going back to the mines."
Meaning John had just talked him back from the brink. Meaning he had just gotten John back. Everything was supposed to work out.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"Addison," he says as he gets the two of them to the beginning of the bridge. The winds feel calm enough but he has a feeling they'll start blowing as soon as they make it to the other side, given their usual rate of traversal. He'll scoop Arthur up and run if he has to.
"When-" he swallows, but his voice is steady, "you haven't... killed the monster yet. Have you?"
He'll urge Arthur to take the step with him.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
Which means John is ahead of him in time. But how far?
"What do you know, John?"
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"I know that we do go down there," and his voice is measured, careful, as he proceeds. "I know that you nearly die there, stabbed straight through by it. It tries to ensnare you, implants a tendril of itself into the back of your head, and it's only by using the mask and a knife that you're able to cut it off." He swallows audibly. "We figure out that the flute is what's used to control it, that the noise is painful, even... dangerous to it." He keeps walking, keeping his eyes ahead, not looking at Arthur, "and that you nearly get yourself killed again by using the flute when you were practically half down it's fucking throat."
A breath out, slow and steadying.
"It's head explodes. So. Yes, you guessed right." Beat. "We're almost to the other side."
"It's been weeks since then for me, with you, first in New York City and then... somewhere else." As they step onto 'land'- "and a few months since I was brought here where all I had was the feeling of you through the bond between us as I hoped you'd come here."
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
His grip tightens reflexively in John's hand.
He doesn't bolt this time. Once the ground is solid, he stays by John's side. "Well, I'm here now. You said I should get everything back in a day or so?"
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"Arthur, the wind!"
He wraps an arm around him, as much for warmth as steadiness, and continues-
"There's a shelter this way. I can't see where the next bridge is, but I doubt we'd be safe to cross it until this storm has calmed down a little bit."
Especially considering how little Arthur has on. John hopes he isn't thinking the same of him.
"But yes," as he comes back to the main topic, "given I'm not... I'm not in your eyes, your sight should return within a day or so. The feeling in your arm and foot as well."
Which he likes but also... hates, a little bit. Unconsciously, perhaps, he reaches then, through the bond between them, the red string, and seeks Arthur, the sense of him, the feel of him, the finger he's always had on his pulse since their first moments together.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
He cuddles against him for strength, shivering against the gale as they find the camp.
"Alright. That will...help, I think."
And there's no way that they can return to normal? is a selfish, fucking question he doesn't ask, and he settles against the thread they share, reaching for him in every way he can.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
But the answer to the question he has comes the way it was asked, because John is too raw, too exposed curled around Arthur. Because Arthur is right here, now, in his arms, perfect and prickly and shivering. Because of course he reaches back.
I don't think so, no. At least... not here.
Re: upper dungeon | floor two
"That's - that's good. You have your own body, John. That's - that's amazing. That's what you've wanted, right?" His words come out in a stammer, half from cold, half from trying to smooth over the fact that he wanted something that was so actively bad for John.
What sort of person would want to drag John back into that place?
