JOB POSTING ONE! BIG PAYOUT FOR EASY WORK!
I am a pharmacist looking for some brave adventurers willing to go down into the dungeon and collect dongle flower milk for me. I need at least 10 bottles! This is an important ingredient in one of my popular prescriptions. I am not athletic enough to go get it myself and my supplies are running low.
Please deliver all dongle flower milk to the medical shop in the northwest corner of the market. Please note, I need FULL bottles. Do not skimp or I won't pay!
JOB POSTING TWO! HELP A WOMAN'S GROWING BUSINESS!
I am a young lady looking to expand my make-up business. I heard rumors that there's water in the dungeon that could make an AMAZING base for make-up products. But it sounds like it's super scary in there and I don't want to go. Please, someone, help!
You can bring all bottles of dungeon water to the make-up booth in the southeast corner of the market. I'm willing to pay in chips or trade some of my current products. My face masks and nail polishes are really good!
JOB POSTING THREE! PLEASE DON'T ASK WHY!
Hello. I need many dungeon slime cores, so I am looking for everyone and anyone willing to go slime hunting and gather some for me. We can negotiate pay based upon the number of slime cores brought. Do not inquire what the slimes or their cores are needed for.
Please bring all slime and slime core deliveries to back door of the Dried and Baked Sundries shop. Thank you!
JOB POSTING FOUR! I WANT COLLECTABLES!
If you're going into the dungeon, I want collectables. If you find that fabled treasure room, bring me back something cool and shiny. I'm willing to pay good money! I don't care what it is as long as it's hard to get and I can brag to my friends about it.
You can find me drinking in the tavern. I'll be wearing expensive velvet and a tiny hat with a feather.

Cale Henituse | Lout of Count's Family | 6♠
Floor 1
He is fully intending to go about this solo. 100%. So he's pretty ambivalent about anyone that is walking around or beside him. Cale certainly isn't expecting any plants
mistletoeto be hindering any progress. That's when he smacks face first into that invisible barrier. ]What the... [ Complete with rubbing is face and then placing hands out to feel out just what might be prohibiting him from moving forward. ] It's a little early to have an obstacle, isn't it?
Floor 2
The bridge ahead is posing a problem.
As someone else walks up to the bridge, it disappears as well. Now he looks up, head tilting just a little as though he is thinking up another possibility. ]
Looking to get across?
LOWER DUNGEON
Floor 4 Chamber 1
His hands are on his hips, looking around at the chamber that he ( and whomever finds themselves with him ) are in. Unfortunately, the trap his been triggered and the spikes are starting to inch ever closer. Be emotionally vulnerable or die?
Cale turns to his "partner." ]
How do you feel about just calling it quits here?
[ Because what is being emotionally vulnerable? Totally the worst kind of trap there can be! ]
Floor 5 ( nsfw: can pick or rng )
But there are slimes everywhere, aren't there? It's quite possible that Cale might miss one. Or, perhaps, come across someone else affected. ]
Floor 6 ( nsfw option )
However, thing won't always go so smoothly. One challenge that comes up will be plates that he figures out quickly what they need to do. ]
You stand on the one to the left. I'll take this one here.
[ Not that he will be prepared for what happens next! Oh well. Cale's already swapped bodies once, right?
Alternatively, just when he reaches the exit, an arrow catches him. Right in the thigh - ]
EXTRA + WILDCARD
Cale cane be available for just shopping or preparing for the dungeon crawl as well. Those are options as well. ]
Floor 2, the bridge mishap
It’s fine if Phainon does - he’s a seasoned warrior and excellent swordsman (though he can’t say much for the quality of the broadsword slung across his back) - but in his short time here, Cale has been a source of rightful concern for his seeming lack of care for his own wellbeing.
He’s dressed in a scanty chiton fashioned out of a white sheet, which covers only half a torso chiseled by hard muscle and only to the middle of his powerful thighs. His armor is even more abbreviated: just a pauldron across one shoulder and a leather codpiece large enough that, from personal experience, isn’t just for show.
In truth Phainon is mortified. It’s why he fashioned a chiton to go over it in the first place. ] Cale!
[ As expected, he’s marching up with his brow knit in worry, ] Did you come down here alone? Are you crazy?
no subject
Cale is wondering if it's possible to not be scolded? At least he's reached the point where he can sort of understand that this is Phainon's way. Not that he understands why it is such a big deal when he, Cale, can certainly take care of himself. There aren't health issues to be concerned about now so why - ]
Force of habit. [ Because yes, he usually does things alone. But that's also because he usually has an invisible dragon flying around him. ] It hasn't been that dangerous. So far.
no subject
And Cale has (in his mind) a distressing habit of getting in over his head in a way that requires more than his own grit to deal with the aftereffects.
Perhaps irritatingly, Phainon is looking him over as though he half expects Cale to be downplaying his time in what people are calling ‘the dungeon’. ]
You’re lucky this is one of the higher floors. …Why are you here?
no subject
Not that he minds being thought of as incapable or weaker. ]
It's a dungeon. [ As if that will answer everything. ] What else could I be interested in other than in any treasure or loot.
[ Holla holla it's all about that dolla. ]
Why are you here?
no subject
There’s a shocking amount of dungeon monster smut. No, he doesn’t have any titles to recommend. Phainon pinches the bridge of his nose between his eyes, sighing. ]
I’d be a hypocrite if I condemned your reasons, as I’m here for the same.
[ He hastens to add, because he half expects Cale to get insufferably smug about his admission: ] Well, you won’t get far without help.
But before we do, I need you to promise me you won’t use your power.

Floor 5 (like I could resist)
[ A flare of fire zooms just over Cale's head, enough that he can no doubt feel the heat of it on his skin a moment before it slams into the ooze that was lowering itself down from the ceiling. Almost translucent, it was spread so thin in its slow drop onto its unwary target that another few inches would have had the slime dropping down to land on - and likely surround - the other redhead's head.
The fire consumes most of the outer ooze itself, leaving the unburnable core dropping down to land in the puddle near Cale's feet. Sylvain steps out of an adjoining tunnel, dropping wet from a mishap he'd rather not talk about, but otherwise looking pretty okay for a guy wandering around a monster-infested dungeon. ]
Didn't anyone warn you it's dangerous to go alone?
[ ...says the also very alone guy. ]
lmfao i know i know - what color do you want or?
Ah, but I'm not alone, now am I?
[ Since Sylvain is here too. Cale only really looks feeble and weak. Well. He'd say that he's weak too but Cale thinks he can handle some slimes. ]
You're looking a bit soggy there, Sylvain.
no subject
Cale's observation isn't wrong, though. In fact, Sylvain almost seems to be glistening from the water currently clinging to his skin, droplets beading in a way that catches the eye and plays with the light down here - dim though it might be. Not that he's realized that yet - he's more distracted by the current threat of slimes. ]
You're lucky I wandered this way, then, hmm? And it's just a little water, at least. You were about to be coated in ooze.
no subject
It's also distracted for Cale and if there are more slimes shifting? He doesn't see them. ]
Just a little water? Sylvain, you're absolutely soaked. If you catch a cold don't look at me to nurse you back to health.
no subject
He waves off the concern, though, because this floor is positively temperate compared to the windy one upstairs. And it's a welcome relief after the flaming hot one. At the moment, it actually feels pretty good. Just really... moist. ]
It's just water. It's not even cold down here. I'll dry soon enough. [ Probably. Right? Does magical water still dry after a while? he sure hopes so.
His attention on Cale as he approaches the redhead now, he doesn't have a good vantage of the slimes Cale was hunting before, either. Hopefully the one overhead was the last of them? ]

Floor 6, plates leading to arrows
And so it's not until he looks across to Cale again, only to see himself standing there, looking back at him, that he realizes what has just happened.
Sort of.
His eyes lift, and he looks down at his hands, his clothes. ]
I... [ Oh, his voice is different. He frowns. ] Well. This is new. Cale? Is that.. still you?
[ At least it's cooler now. And... he's pretty sure he can see the exit door open in the distance, too. So now they just have to figure out how they're meant to fix this. ]
no subject
Kaveh?
[ That's his voice isn't it? And this is - He looks down at his hands, frowning even more. It probably looks really surprising, seeing those expressions on your face there Kaveh. Just like it's something seeing his own features look so expressive. ]
I think. We've switched places.
[ Not that this is hard to figure out. But the real issue? How do they return? ]
no subject
What's more uncomfortable though is the sudden surge of energy running through him as he adjusts to the body, an energy unlike anything he's ever felt. It's brimming at his fingertips, aching to escape him—and yet there's also something holding it at bay, locking it in place.
Uncomfortable, he lifts a hand to the necklace he's now wearing, not realizing that it's the protective lock he's feeling. Right now, he's not even thinking about how they're going to get back—he feels weird. ]
We have. I... Do you always feel like this?
no subject
For a moment, he's not sure what Kaveh is referring to with that question. The other looks a little. Unsettled. Fingers brush the necklace, and Cale isn't sure that he likes those expressions. Cale himself isn't the most expressive person so -
Oh right. ]
I've gotten used to it. Just don't try to use any of those powers while you're in my body. [ "My" as though he owns it... ] I don't see a reason why you would but it might drain you a little.
no subject
It's so odd, seeing his own face wearing the other's less emotive expressions.
He crosses the remainder of the room to him—to himself—and his brows crease into a frown. ]
We should consider trying to step on the plates again. It seems that that's what made us switch. Theoretically, it should do the same a second time.

Floor 1
The possibility of prizes or treasures somewhere along the way is also understandably appealing.
Similar to Cale, he fully intends to see how far it's possible to go without relying on others. So it's very surprising when they both end up running into that invisible barrier, eyes narrowing as he reaches out to touch it again.]
Did you happen to touch anything?
[When in doubt, question the other person.]
no subject
Hearing Vil's voice ( a first time, despite a couple of text conversations ), he turns to look over his shoulder. Russet eyes narrow just a little, if only because why would he have reason to touch anything? ]
I didn't touch anything. It's probably some kind of trap or puzzle that needs to be figured out.
no subject
Wonderful. And the answer has a fair chance of being lewd.
no subject
...Hmm. No thanks. That would make him "too important to be ignored" in many cases. Instead, Cale considers their bubble-like barrier. ]
More than a fair chance, I would say. [ But he's looking around them until his gaze lands back on Vil. ] I don't suppose you could whisper a few more words to figure out the source?
floor 4
Haha, I get the impulse, but unfortunately I swore an oath to protect people. [He did no such thing. Emotional vulnerability hour is already starting off with a flippant comment.] So I can't allow you to do that to yourself!
no subject
And Cale has already been struggling to keep people at an arm's length as of late. ]
If you swore that kind of oath then you must feel comfortable going first.
[ And while his company does, Cale can try to figure out another way to get out. ]
no subject
Alright. I want to protect people with my family's techniques because I want to make something out of the abilities I was born with. [Does he need to provide more context? Probably, so he adds:] My family was an exorcist clan until the ability to see spirits died out, and they quit the business rather than join up with another clan. I can see, so I started it up again.
[None of this was particularly vulnerable, though; he doesn't even need to feel around to tell that the mask hadn't accepted it, which means that the room probably wouldn't either.]
But sometimes I wish my ancestors had just given in and joined another clan for protection, so the choice could be out of my hands.
[That one did it. One of the eyes on the mask springs open. Natori waves it aside without even waiting for Cale to comment on it.] Your turn.
no subject
Protecting people... How is that a vulnerability though? Cale doesn't seem to think so either as he folds his arms over his chest. In fact, he's about to say that when Natori provides that additional context. So it's one of those "I am doing the thing but sometimes I wish I didn't have to." Maybe some guilt associated with it?
No further elaboration is going to be asked for either. Cale isn't the sort of person to ask unless the person is near and dear to him. But what to offer in response - ]
I don't like involving myself in other peoples' affairs. [ That won't work either and he knows that. Cale is just getting there - ] Because, as it happens, once I know too much I can't stop myself from getting involved too deeply.
[ Which... Is the truth. One that he doesn't like to acknowledge - the fact that he actually cares a lot though he doesn't parade that around. He prefers to be thought of as some arrogant asshole. The room, however, seems to accept this answer. The gears slowly grind to a halt - ]
no subject
Thankfully, he doesn't need to worry about that. The person he's with has enough self-preservation to speak up in turn. At first, Natori pays more attention to the grinding sound as the room accepts both of their responses; it's only once he's seen the walls stop that he thinks back over what Cale had said.]
Haha, one of those, huh? [The sort of people who shut themselves away because they can't help but get involved otherwise. Natori doesn't think he falls into that category (he's wrong) but he certainly is familiar with what it looks like from the outside.] Well, it looks like that--
[did it, he doesn't say, because suddenly the floor drops out from underneath them to dump them right into the damp tunnels of the fifth floor of the dungeon. Natori lets out a very startled yelp as they fall, landing ungracefully on his ass in the grime.] --Eugh. Are you alright?
