Mating games will take place in various locations around the resort. Get ready to flash your feathers and present your courtship dance.

Competitors will be able to browse potential mates on the ★ Mating Season ★ app to connect with those they would like to nest with!

Wildcards are an important part of nesting season. All guests that romantically match with a Wildcard during the games will be gifted a triple extra large payout for being chosen by the newest birds on the block.

Get ready to match and find love! 】

SEED ME IN THE BEDROOM
A BIRD IN THE BUSH
MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT ► New arrivals are in for a treat! No need to sign up and wait for the chance to participate in the mating games. As soon as Wildcards open their eyes they will find themselves in one of the wedding suites of the Phoenix Casino! Each suite houses up to six guests comfortably. That's what bunkbeds are for!

► Characters still wake up naked save for a robe, as is standard for the Golden Peacock. The term 'robe' is used loosely this round with looks spanning the full range of wedding lingerie. All lingerie come in either white or black to promote the game's wedding aesthetic.

Existing characters are welcome to temporarily take up residence in any empty bunkbeds in these suites. It wouldn't be much fun for Wildcards to only marry each other, would it? The staff also understand that some existing guests ache to wed. No need to ask! It’s all taken care of already.

► Racks of clothing are waiting right outside the wedding suites. Everything available for arrivals to wear are elaborate wedding dresses and sharp tuxedos. Why? All will soon become clear after Mating Season staff urge them to dress and then drag them out to the casino floor.
TO THE CHAPEL ► Down the red carpet waits a gaudy casino wedding chapel and our favorite officiant, Birdvis! Two guests will meet for the first time at the altar to be married by Birdvis with no 'I do' required. It's possible it isn't really the first time they've met but game producers would appreciate keeping mum if that's the case.

► Congratulations, you're married! All new couples are forced to wear matching wedding rings. These wedding rings resonate and randomly magnetize wearers together. Now that you're married you have to stick with your spouse.

Rings cannot be removed until either considerable romantic bonding has occurred or the couple has consummated the marriage. Whichever comes first! As long as the rings are on, couples will continue to be randomly pulled together. Watch out for brides and grooms flying through the casino as they're magnetized to their partner!

► Glitches in the matrimony matrix may occur. When a glitch happens, guests wearing wedding rings may end up attaching to someone other than their spouse. Even if the other person isn't wearing a ring at all! Oops.
THE NEWLYWED GAME ► The Newlywed Game is presented to help guests bond with their new spouse. However, couples may end up shuffled around—it's so difficult to keep track of who's married whom! Some guests who aren't married may also be dragged in to buff up the numbers.

► Poker tables in the casino have been converted into romantic tables studded with roses and candles. Each table comes with a bottle of wine, a pack of cards with questions, two notepads, and two pens.

Players flip a card and individually write their answer on their respective notepads. Then they both take a guess as to what the other has answered. The player closest to their partner's answer is awarded a point. If neither player makes a close guess no points are given. The game ends when one side reaches five points.

► Questions cover a range of invasive topics, though most of them focus on kinks or feelings. Welcome to Self Report: The Game!

All winners of the Newlywed Game will be rewarded with luxurious lingerie. Marriages take work to keep the spark alive! Losers will be entered into the spanking raffle. Everyone drawn from the pool will be subject to bare bottom spankings from dominants and dominatrixes around the resort. Particularly dommy guests may be recruited for spanking duty.
EXTREME DATING CHALLENGE! ► Don't let your spouse stop you from finding the love of your life! Guests are invited to participate the Extreme Dating Challenge, which offers the opportunity to meet potential mates in unique situations. Head over to House Finch and Cloaca & Dagger to meet some sexy singles!

► Staff are eager to help set guests up on some absurd dates. Characters are dressed in ridiculous outfits and given embarrassing tasks to complete during the date. The first person to laugh loses and will be subject to a humiliating but harmless penalty.

► Guests are allowed to select their own silly outfits. However, reluctant guests will be manhandled into costumes by producers. If it's left up to the producers they'll be wearing something embarrassing and sexy, like a maid uniform.

► Only alcohol is provided and there are no food options. Long-standing guests joining in on the fun are oddly sleep deprived because the producers keep kicking them awake so they make bad decisions. Current Game 52 players aren't free from such treatment! Excessive alcohol and no sleep make for good entertainment.
EXTREME DATING CHALLENGE! TOO HOT TO HANDLE ► At some point one of the producers gets the inspired idea to make the challenges sexy. During night hours, the Extreme Dating Challenge goes NSFW. Characters are dressed in revealing costumes and given erotic tasks to complete during the date. A favorite task of a certain producer is to ask competitors to suck on a girthy pickle.

► The NSFW version of the game has the added entertainment of Too Hot To Handle rules. Guests are forbidden from any kissing, sexual contact, or self-gratification during the date. Outfits and tasks are designed to sexually tease and provoke the other person. The first person to initiate any kind of sexual contact loses.

► Once again, guests are welcome to choose their own outfits. Those that must be manhandled will be strapped into harnesses, gimp suits, and pasties.

► Losers will be strapped into a chastity belt and mercilessly teased (erotically). Winners collect a large payout for their success.

CLUCK AROUND, FIND OUT
MY SWAN AND ONLY LOVE
LUST IS BIRDS ► Upon arrival to the Mating Season central hub, blindfolded guests are lead into a starting pod. Each blind date will last 30 minutes, after which staff members will knock on the doors of the pods to rotate guests to meet new matches. Welcome to Lust is Birds, where Penguinessa Larkchey and her husband, Peck Larkchey, ask the big questions. Can you get hot for someone you've never seen? Can attraction spark through voice alone? Is love... real?

► Participants are alone in their pod with a blind date on the other side of a partition. These two guests can talk to each other but cannot see each other through the partition. Guests cannot overhear other guests outside of their paired pods. They only have each other for company once locked inside.

► Pods are furnished with a couch, blankets, flatscreen, and snack bar. Included with the snack bar are bottles of wine and spirits, as well as the classic reality TV silver goblets. Guests are encouraged to drink and eat their fill; everything inside the pods is free regardless of rank. Relax, enjoy, and have fun!

► Don't worry, Mating Season wouldn't leave you up the creek without a paddle. Every pod has two glass jars with slips of paper. These jars are labeled ROMANTIC TOPICS and SEXY TOPICS. While guests are encouraged to talk about anything they want, if they find themselves coming up short, they can use jar topics for ideas.

► Find yourself making a connection? Mating Season would never cut off a fledgling love affair. Every pod is equipped with a large green MATE button. Pressing that button signifies the intention to couple up and nest. If both sides press the button they'll be allowed to meet face-to-face for nesting time.
SLUTTHROAT KITCHEN ► Welcome, chefs, to the Gilded Cage's sprawling kitchen! Here you'll be issued a series of challenges our charming host, certified daddy dom Albert Brownbird. Will you be able to withstand the heat of the sluttiest kitchen in the Golden Peacock?

Unlike a traditional cooking show, all of these challenges are erotic. Since Albert is a kind-hearted daddy dom, his early tasks won't be too specific and remain within the realm of general appeal. Beginning rounds kick off with easy challenges, like giving their waiting partner two back-to-back orgasms. Later rounds include more specific tasks, like anal stimulation or nipple play with added parameters.

After the challenge is issued chefs will have one minute to dash through the massive pantry to grab the sex toys they want. Toys are limited in number. Competitors not fast enough may end up with weird leftovers. Producers encourage kicking and slapfights to snatch toys from each other's baskets. It's good entertainment!

► Once "ingredients" have been secured, chefs return to their station and start getting their waiting partner off. Winners are judged based on how quickly they complete the task and how pleased their partners are. Someone may get their partner off quickly with a spatula, but if that partner isn't thoroughly satisfied with their "meal", daddy Albert is knocking off points.

► Guests that score highly are rewarded with two large payouts, privileges to use the Gilded Cage's kitchen for two months, a clean chef's jacket embroidered with daddy Albert's face, new cooking supplies, and the title of Top Chef. Guests that score poorly are assigned to the cleanup crew and peeling vegetables for the next dinner rush.
THIS IS DANGEROUS?! ► Come test your smarts in a battle of wits at Chickadees! It's time for everyone's favorite trivia gameshow, Dangerous!? Hosted for sixty nine years by Alex Trebawk, a dapper older bird in an impeccable three-piece suit, Dangerous!? has been a staple on the Peacock network for decades.

► Two or three contestants play by selecting clues under certain categories, including everyone's favorite Kinks You'd Like To Play. Players have a limited time to provide a response (for example: A kink you're interested in but have never tried). Failing to provide a truthful answer in a few seconds requires the player to remove one article of clothing. Last player with clothing on is the winner!

Be careful—forgetting to phrase your reply in the form of a question results in a penalty. Traditionally this penalty is chosen by the other player, but Trebawk has been known to offer his own suggestions if need be!

► The winner is rewarded with a Golden Owl trophy, a large payout, and showered with adoration. The loser is conscripted into working as the winner's servant for 24 hours post-game.

FOWL INTENTIONS
BEAKING OUT
BEAK GAMES ► Not to be outdone, local algorithm junky Mr. Beak does what he does best: steals a profitable idea and turns it into his own content. Lust is Birds? That’s old news, baby! What the people want is BEAK GAMES.

► Beak Games brings blindfolded players to large cubes instead of the familiar Lust is Birds pods. Once inside participants are told that they are trapped until they have at least one orgasm, at which point the cubes will unlock. The catch, which Mr. Beak conveniently waits until after the first round to announce? Anyone who orgasms has to remain in the cube for the next round! Both parties orgasmed? Hope you had fun together, because you’re going for another round.

Participants will find an assortment of sex toys available in the cube, along with an old fashioned telephone that can be used to request additional items from the production. Just be warned, Team Beak is just as likely to bring in a sybian instead of the requested sandwich to mix things up! Twists are good content!!

► Guests not subject to the cubes may find themselves locked inside a pitch-black room instead. Players are told that they are trapped until they manage to find the key for the door's padlock. The catch? Players inside the room are chained or handcuffed together. They'll be given the sole hint that that the key is somewhere on one of their bodies. Maybe even in your butthole! Mr. Beak will announce, Check your buttholes!

► The key can be anywhere on one of the participants. Once found, they'll need to make their way to the lock in the dark and get the door open. Good luck navigating that while chained together!

► Don’t worry: within 24 hours Mr. Beak gets sued for reckless endangerment and intellectual property theft, so any players remaining at that point are set free with “please don’t sue us” speed and given a complimentary I Survived Beak Games! jersey.
NEST SWEET ► Nesting Season wraps up a few days later, since Mating Season's legal department is gearing up for a long court battle with local network celebrity Mr. Beak. However, the impact of the mating games lasts for much longer than legal proceedings!

Depending on how characters behaved during nesting season they may be recognized as heroes or villains of their respective games by fans. Villains may be met with boos when walking to Birdbucks for their morning coffee. Heroes may be crowded in the hallways and begged for autographs. Stans and shippers pop up across the board with fanfiction and fanart posted on the both virtual and physical bulletin boards.

► Since all guests signed away the rights to their likeness upon checking in to the resort (tiny tiny tiny print), Mating Season jumps at the opportunity to produce merchandise of participants. With the popularity of Nesting Season it's easier than ever to get a t-shirt with your loved one's face printed across the chest, featuring one of their iconic quotes from the games. The popup shop at Mating Season's central hub becomes a permanent addition so one can pick up some swag anytime!

Divorces may also be processed through Mating Season once the shipping hype dies down. Mating Season does hope that you managed to find someone to be a pair of sweet mandarin ducks with!

[ she's used to it. the world is so intent on taking everything from her, they'd chew her down to the bone and then wring her of every last drop before spitting her back out again. what's a loss of sight at this point? she cloaks herself in the same nonchalant confidence that she's honed over the years, because the world doesn't stop, even for a child with nothing but a near eighty million bounty to her name.

zoro's first answer makes her smile, amused, and then it grows. so he was paying attention after all.
]

There is. I'm afraid it's not on me, but you're welcome to search me if you'd like.

[ there's no reason for her to lie—they're both looking to leave this room. but there's no reason for him to trust her, either. ]

[ it's not that he thinks she's lying -- the one he mistrusts is not his companion, herself effectively a victim trapped in the room too, but rather this place itself; the way it stops at nothing to achieve whatever incomprehensible objective, using them like easy pawn pieces to be moved about wherever it feels like.

it doesn't feel as though he himself has the key on his person, though ... but zoro nevertheless does a cursory but thorough check first of his pockets, before bending down to fish around at his boots.

surely they didn't really mean it when they said the stuff about the possibility of it being in their ass, right?

he straightens back up with a scowl, mind running over the possibilities, before turning towards the other who's been patiently waiting this whole time. ]

Alright. [ well, she did offer first.

his hand finds her hip again, using the chain as the first threshold of a guide before patting up the small of her back up to her shoulderblades, the pads of his fingers skimming up her spine. it doesn't linger -- just methodical about it, indicating that he really doesn't have any other intentions than to search for the elusive key. ]

[ she hears him checking his pockets and the shift of fabric as he bends to, she assumes, check his boots. robin is patient throughout, letting him take his time to check; the last thing either of them need is for him to accidentally drop the key while he's searching, which would be infinitely harder to find than just the door. but it seems he doesn't have it, given the displeasure in his tone, and the way he steps closer towards her.

the dress they had put her in for this particular game is low cut in a halter style, which means his hand meets bare skin as it sweeps up her spine, calloused fingertips dragging over her smoother skin. robin remains still as he continues his search, and it's only when he reaches her clavicle that she finally speaks up, voice low and warm as if sharing a secret. or an inside joke he isn't yet privy to.
]

Feel anything?

[ well, that's rude!!!

zoro frowns as his hand meets nothing but an expanse of warm, bare skin -- and obviously he has no way of telling the state of the rest of her wardrobe. he stubbornly continues all the way up until his thumb catches at the clasp of the halter neck, which is when zoro draws his hand back away with another exasperated click of his tongue. if you could hear his eyes roll ... ]

Could have warned a guy.

[ is the added gruffness from slowly-encroaching embarrassment or just plain frustration at the situation? who knows. ]

[personal profile] palmful 2026-05-19 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ that's cute. it's also cute that he hasn't touched any part of her front. too bad robin shares none of that would-be embarrassment, taking a half-step towards him as her hands settle on his waist. ]

Is that something you need to be warned about?

[ for someone caught in a resort that all but runs on sex, he's surprisingly reserved. but she can work with that; all men are, at their core, the same. her fingers follow the circumference of his belt, movements slow enough that he can easily pull away if it gets too much, but she doesn't think he would. when she reaches the small of his back, her hands diverge—one mirrors his earlier path on her body while the other slides lower, dipping into his back pocket. it's a surprisingly tight fit, an observation that she keeps to herself, but the amusement still remains. ]

Or perhaps you're shy?

[ well, he doesn't have to worry about that much longer, it seems. her fingers close around the key, hands withdrawing smoothly as she retrieves it. ]

[ why would he? presumably she would have searched herself on that front (ha), if she hadn't already ... his mind is still mostly on the find-the-key-and-get-out-of-here part, and sex resort or not, zoro hasn't fallen that low to be feeling up someone who's unlucky enough to be in the same predicament as he is. ]

Probably says more about what kind of person you are, I guess.

[ his answer is laconic, the bored tone almost enough to mask the way he inadvertently takes half a step back purely on automatic -- but zoro is stubborn enough to stop himself from taking another as her hands slide onto his waist in the dark, fingers catching at the edge where his shirt meets the border of his beltline. there is a sweet, floral smell that zoro abruptly realises is coming from her (until now he'd presumed it was just part of the general setup in the room), and zoro cants his head back, nose wrinkling with irritation, and slows his breathing down; a careful, measured exhale that matches the traversal of her hand upwards on his back, ticking up his spine in inches.

even then, zoro twitches like an irritated cat when he's basically groped through the back pocket of his pants. ]
Hey--

[ too late; her knuckles, hand closed around something that he realises must be the key, brushes against the small of his back as she retreats back. the clinking sound of the chain would soon announce that his suspicions were correct. ]

[ she has no way of knowing what he looks like, but one thing she knows for certain is that he's pleasingly broad and unfairly solid. the callouses on his hands (and his general physique) hint at a devotion to hard work—labor, perhaps, or from honing a weapon through skill. for robin, whose abilities center around being untouchable, it's something that snags her attention just as much as his carefully maintained disaffected air of one who really can't be bothered. yet it's those same people who are always, inevitably, bothered.

it's too soft to be a real laugh, but he'll hear something close to a chuckle, her breath ghosting lightly over his cheek as it disappears entirely. she makes quick work of locating the lock, and the sound of it clicking open has never sounded so sweet, especially after spending an untold amount of time navigating in the dark. after murmuring a quick warning to him, she grasps the knob and turns to open the door, blinking sun spots out of her vision as they step out into the light.
]

[personal profile] looksout 2026-05-20 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ is he bothered? it's not a feeling that zoro is familiar with, that's for sure. a pirate hunter turned pirate, the usual dangers have doubled even just by the simple act of him choosing to stand by luffy's side -- and to zoro, there is no real difference whether they are here or on their way to the grand line; call it simplistic thinking but the House is just another obstacle that has to be assessed, cut down, moved past from. there is no special distinction to mark it apart from anything else they've faced so far.

as she pulls away with a low sound of amusement, zoro is conscious -- for the first time in a long while, perhaps -- of sweat gathered in the lines of his palms. a prickling that runs cold over the back of his neck as though phantom afterimages of her fingers. danger. she is dangerous.

it's an unfounded thought, anyone would disregard it -- but zoro has made his living paying attention more to the base animal-like awareness over biased logic (and seen plenty who paid with their lives for choosing the latter), but she is quicker to act than he is, at the moment. the click of the latch turning in its lock is like a steel struck against flint. despite the light that's almost blinding after the darkness they've been subjected to, his gaze is fixed on the first, light-limned outline of the other as robin leads the way.

once out, there's not much chance for any further privacy to question her, if there is anything he could say that won't come across as an equivalent of a sledgehammer; the 'reality' of the games mean that there's an unnecessary number of people waiting, stepping in between zoro and his companion to undo the chains wound around them, but his attention doesn't waver. ]
palmful: (pic#18457895)

[personal profile] palmful 2026-05-20 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ robin is used to having eyes on her—as a child back on ohara and in the aftermath, her face plastered on posters for all to see. the weight of a gaze is familiar and one that she wears like like old coat she'd had to grow into, once ill-fitting, but now molded to her figure. it's ultimately not his attention that makes her pause, but instead his appearance, the green hair and the sharp look in his eyes a familiar sight she remembers seeing on a ship not very long ago.

she expects to find recognition but there's none of that, and the initial surprise that flickers briefly in her gaze disappears as the staff come between them. thus far, it seems as if vivi is the only one who recognizes her out of the people that should, which is in itself a cause for concern, if she wasn't already tipped off to how tricky time and memories seem to be in this place. as of right now, it's likely more of a blessing—a clean slate, as it were, free of baroque works and alabasta. the real question is how she'll navigate it.
]

You look like you have something to ask me. [ now free of the heavy chains, she's able to draw herself up to her full height, head tilted over her shoulder to look at him once more. ] Do you drink?

[ the surprise that flits over her face is quick and guarded; it's gone in an instant, something that would be overlooked so very easily if he weren't looking -- and even then zoro almost misses it in the way the fall of the severely cut dark hair shadows her expression.

it's curious, that. almost as curious as her offer that follows. most people, subject to that kind of scrutinising stare from zoro, would choose to put some distance between themselves and him; nobody wants to be a subject of that. but on the contrary she meets it easily, with a confident, self-assured air as though the thinly veiled hostility means nothing out of the ordinary. ]

Implying that you have things worth asking about?

[ the wado ichimonji is brought back to him in the harness then, and zoro makes no pretense or attempt to hide the way he checks over the weapon, before securing it back against his hip where it belongs. ]

If you're buying, sure.

[personal profile] palmful 2026-05-21 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ the thing about lying effectively is that one should never turn away from the truth, from fear; the closer the lie is to it, the better. she had felt fear once, a long time ago. nothing else has quite compared to it yet. ]

I wasn't caught staring, pup. [ another low sound of amusement. ] You tell me.

[ the staff bring out his weapon—a single sword rather than three. interesting. zoro is, of course, more than capable with just one sword, but she does wonder how he'd gotten it back at all. buying it back must have cost a significant amount. by his own merit? perhaps, though robin thinks it's unlikely. maybe with the help of one of his friends. ]

If I'm buying, then I choose the venue.

[ in other words: she's new and doesn't have very much to her name, so it's going to be cheap. once he's satisfied with the condition of his sword, she turns on her heel and makes a loose gesture with her hand. come, it means. ]

It's Zoro.

[ a muscle twitches in his jaw, irritation clear in the way he doesn't bother to mask, as he immediately throws that back at her. it's perhaps not the best response, considering, but the nickname doesn't bear repeating -- though he suspects that it's not going to stop her from doing exactly what she wants regardless of others. ] And I wasn't staring.

[ she is tall too, the line of his sight having to tilt a degree upwards in order to meet hers squarely, and it doesn't help at all with the feeling that she is looking down on him. he wouldn't call himself someone who's at all bothered by such trivial thing as height, though ... so maybe it's all just in her attitude, and the continuing sense of half-aggression that prickles along his skin as she gestures him to follow.

it's mostly out of sheer stubbornness that holds him back from taking the first step after her -- but if she is truly someone to be wary of in this place, it's his job to find out why and how. his last warning to his crew regarding the blue-haired assassin went largely ignored, but zoro isn't someone who's petty enough to let that stop him from doing that again, if their safety is in line. and as always, he'd much prefer to put himself in the line of fire than any of the others.

he casts a final, annoyed look at the staff before moving to follow the other, though he remains a couple of steps behind. ]

[ it's a little bit of a gamble, but while she thinks he would follow, she doesn't expect him to. which means, when he finally does, he can't see the pleased smile on her face; she needs to tread carefully in this tenuous beginning with the straw hats, but it's always nice to be proven right when she makes a call.

there is, supposedly, a restaurant that is friendly to newcomers which she initially makes her way to. except, as they pass by the casino on their way there, the staff spot a potential couple and immediately descend on them, insistently ushering them towards another game. from what she can see, there's no restraints and dark rooms this time, just wine and a pack of cards. there's his drink, at least. and she didn't even have to pay.

it's with that in mind that she allows the staff to whisk her into another dressing room, putting her in the tux from earlier and leaving her to wait for her "wife" at one of the empty tables.

[ they're both gambling, though playing two wildly different games it seems ... and the House has a completely different idea in mind too, and the House always wins, no? which is why they once again find themselves roped into yet another one of the fatuous activities instead of finding freedom and a quiet place to drink. the way this place constantly seeks out sick entertainment is really getting on his nerves, but there is perhaps an additional layer of resentment layered over the scowl on zoro's face as he is led out shortly afterwards to where robin is already sat and waiting.

the wedding gown he's been shoved into should be an elegant affair, all white satin and flowing skirt, but zoro drops into the chair opposite the other in a stance that's anything but. at least he spares her a glance before his attention falls to the single bottle of wine standing on the table between them. ]

[ somehow, zoro's posture and his sword still strapped to his hip really sells the look. what kind of look exactly, she can't say, but she will admit that he fills out the bust of the gown quite nicely. to her credit, she doesn't laugh, but something glitters in her gaze, part amused and part pleasantly surprised that he actually went along with it to begin with.

she does laugh at what he says though, warm and a little unexpected even for her; something more genuine compared to the usual self-assured confidence she's exhibited so far.
]

I did say I'd get to pick, no?

[ would he say no to free drinks no matter how they're obtained? doubtful. she reaches for the bottle and uncorks it, pouring a glass for him and then herself. ]

I think it's safe to say we have no interest in these particular questions. [ nodding to the cards between them. ] But if you want to try, be my guest.

[ the laugh is surprising; at a risk of exaggeration, he'd say this is the first real human reaction he's gotten out of her over the course of the last few hours -- and he can't help but to let his gaze flick back across the table towards robin. it's only out of curiosity, of course. like witnessing a wax doll transforming into a living, breathing being. ]

Doesn't seem very fair.

[ free drink is a free drink, and zoro isn't going to turn one down when it's offered to him (it's honestly a miracle that he hasn't had one that's spiked with aphro already, but maybe that's his crazy luck) ... but it's the principle of the thing; free bottle of wine on the house, in exchange for getting put into another stupid costume and having to play along? even to zoro it seems like playing with weighted dice, and moreover, one that she's basically foisted onto him.

well, might as well drown his sorrows in drink.

not the one to mind his manners (at least when alcohol is concerned), zoro leans forward to take the glass and takes a sip, before idly picking up the stack of cards set on the table and flipping the first one over.

"what do you think about when you masturbate?"

right. nevermind. ]

Ugh, [ scrunching up his face in exasperation, zoro will carelessly let the cards fall back on the table again, before taking another big gulp out of the glass. it's not a sweet one, which helps -- if the drink was bad on top of everything, he can't promise what he'd do. ]

[ her time spent in crocodile's employ has been the longest, and during it, she'd grown accustomed to his taste in finery. this wine is cheap and lacks the full-bodied smoothness of a proper vintage (she doubts they would be giving it out for free if it was of higher quality), but it does have an interesting aftertaste, something that leaves a bit of heat behind that's uncharacteristic. it's a new bottle—he'd watched her open it himself—but there are many creative ways one can use, and in a resort this size with the type of guests it keeps, creativity is a must.

the wry tilt to her smile is partially hidden by the glass as she takes another sip. suddenly, it all makes sense. poisons aren't her specialty, but sometimes knowing your enemy requires more than a little risk. robin has her doubts that the resort would seek to truly harm to the degree of anything life-threatening—there's a reason they're all here, and while it's much too soon for her to hypothesize, she does have the beginnings of an idea.

the card zoro drops back onto the table lands face-up, allowing her to see the question printed on it. his reaction to it is about as much as she expects, though there are other things that interest her more.
]

You don't hold yourself like someone who has just arrived. [ she can't know how long he's been here, but it's at least longer than her. ] Is it true, then? A way out has yet to be uncovered?

[ the question earns her a wordless, unreadable look over the rim of the glass; it's blatant prying for information, is what it is - and at the risk of coming across as unfriendly or inhospitable (neither of the accusations weighing very heavily in his conscience at the moment), zoro isn't going to divulge information like that, as harmless as they would seem on the surface. at least there's something to glean from her questioning - for all her airs, it wouldn't seem as though she'd spent any more time here than he himself have so far. ]

Sure there is. Just walk away.

[ a broad sweep of the hand holding the wine glass gestures at the surroundings, and at the doorway on the other side of the room they're in -- for all appearances there's nobody to stop her. it's a deliberate misunderstanding of her words, but maybe it'll tell him more depending on her reaction.

the odd aftertaste of the wine doesn't register to him immediately, remaining oblivious for now; there's something to be said about being indiscriminating about every questionable homebrew and kegs of liquor aboard sailing ships, and he might learn his lessons about that soon? ]
