JOBS & QUESTS
Are you looking to make big coin? Do you have the strength and endurance to take on the dungeon? Then we want YOU to join our guild's quest to sLay!
The dungeon is teeming with sexy monsters that need sLaying. All you need to do to sLay is to fuck them real good! Once satisfied, these sexy monsters may drop quality loot. Join in the hunt to sLay and consolidate drops with our guild! We're happy to make trades or buy.
Yaaassss sLay all day!
JOB POSTING ONE! BIG PAYOUT FOR EASY WORK!
I am a pharmacist looking for some brave adventurers willing to go down into the dungeon and collect dongle flower milk for me. I need at least 10 bottles! This is an important ingredient in one of my popular prescriptions. I am not athletic enough to go get it myself and my supplies are running low.
Please deliver all dongle flower milk to the medical shop in the northwest corner of the market. Please note, I need FULL bottles. Do not skimp or I won't pay!
JOB POSTING TWO! HELP A WOMAN'S GROWING BUSINESS!
I am a young lady looking to expand my make-up business. I heard rumors that there's water in the dungeon that could make an AMAZING base for make-up products. But it sounds like it's super scary in there and I don't want to go. Please, someone, help!
You can bring all bottles of dungeon water to the make-up booth in the southeast corner of the market. I'm willing to pay in chips or trade some of my current products. My face masks and nail polishes are really good!
JOB POSTING THREE! PLEASE DON'T ASK WHY!
Hello. I need many dungeon slime cores, so I am looking for everyone and anyone willing to go slime hunting and gather some for me. We can negotiate pay based upon the number of slime cores brought. Do not inquire what the slimes or their cores are needed for.
Please bring all slime and slime core deliveries to back door of the Dried and Baked Sundries shop. Thank you!
JOB POSTING FOUR! I WANT COLLECTABLES!
If you're going into the dungeon, I want collectables. If you find that fabled treasure room, bring me back something cool and shiny. I'm willing to pay good money! I don't care what it is as long as it's hard to get and I can brag to my friends about it.
You can find me drinking in the tavern. I'll be wearing expensive velvet and a tiny hat with a feather.

He laughs a little at the cooking comment and shrugs. ] I guess it probably could be.
[ Like second nature to a smith, whereas cooking would be like that for someone like Janosh.
As for their current situation, Henry is the opposite and would prefer to just talk to the actual blacksmith. But with the glower he sends over the man's way, it may be safe to say that he's already tried that and gotten nowhere. With a sigh, he looks back at Dodger. ]
Mating Season pod it is. That bastard isn't going to listen to a word I've got to say.
no subject
Can't imagine what you did to deserve it.
[There's a bit of sarcasm in his tone, if only because he knows how much of a pain in the ass he'd be if he was let loose in a motorcycle shop selling shitty bikes.]
Alright, let's head upstairs - hold on.
[He's straightened his sword... enough, that it can slot back into its scabbard with only a small awkward gap at the top. It's fine, although he probably doesn't want to leave it in there for too long in case the scabbard warps.]
There. How do you feel about holding hands while we walk?
[He's mostly teasing, but the flirting earlier tipped him off that he should re-check their boundaries.]
no subject
[ So there!! Henry rolls his eyes a little and gives a shake of his head, but lets it go for now. Mainly because they're leaving. And also he's watching Dodger try to straighten that sword with mild exasperation. ]
I can straighten it out, don't worry too much.
[ He finally gives a half a smirk though in amusement, only to have it change to confusion again at the question. ] Why would I have any particular feelings about that? [ He feels something is lost in translation as usual. It's a chivalrous gesture or a greeting in some circumstances, but he doesn't immediately equate it to a flirtatious gesture... ] Little odd, I suppose. Why, do you need assistance?
no subject
No, I- [He briefly considers making something up, but he's a terrible liar and feels like he owes Henry honesty.] It's a romantic thing. I guess friends do it, too, but mostly chicks.
[Putting it in words makes him feel a little weirder about it. If only because he's never explicitly categorized anything they've been doing as romantic, and he isn't sure he necessarily wants the commitment that tends to come with that. He likes Henry - really likes him - but relationships just feel... safer, when it's just sex with an optional friendship on top.]
no subject
He does have a bit of panic at the mention of romantic, though. It's a pulse of anxiety, of guilt, of all sorts of things really that he just tries to breathe away.
There's also a tinge of guilt for dampening the flirtatious mood by being a man from the 15th century, so he focuses on that. ] Ah. Right, gone and ruined the moment now haven't I?
[ He holds out his hand just in case. It's the least he can do, he thinks ...? ]
no subject
Nah. It's cute, when you're being clueless.
[And it feels nice, knowing that Henry is willing to hold his hand with the full knowledge of what it means to him. It puts an easy smile on his face, while he leads Henry off to the elevators.]
no subject
Cute is not the word I'd use for it I think.
[ He grins and shakes his head as he follows to the elevators. He hates those things, by the way, but at least he's getting more used to them. ]
Once I've learned my way about everything, you won't even know what to do with me.
no subject
Then it's super hot how clueless you are, it gets me rock-hard.
[His eyes are lit up with mischief - yes, they have a mission, so he isn't necessarily going to move past flirting, but making Henry blush is worth going off-script.]
And trust me, I can keep giving you new things to work with. I'll just have to tell you about time travel, and chemistry, and motorcycles, and sniper rifles. And if you figure all that out, I'll introduce you to my friend Viktor. I'm sure he'll be able to really stump you.
[He's not afraid to admit Viktor is smarter than him - because he is, and it's a lot of why Dodger likes him. He's not used to someone being clearly smarter than him without being a dick about it.]
no subject
Of course it does.
[ the answer is mumbled, and he's shaking his head at that suddenly terrifying list of things that Dodger is listing off. But the mention of Viktor does get him to look back at the other man again, eyebrows lifted. ]
You're friends with Viktor? I spoke to him. Well, sort of. On the watches, anyway. I offered to help him out with some work if he needed it. [ Anything to feel normal, even if Viktor is not from a very similar place at all. ] He seemed quite admirable.
no subject
Yeah, he's the first person I met here, back in July. Showed me how to get into the service halls behind the rooms. He's great.
[There's a warmth in Dodger's voice that he reserves for very few people - Henry is one of them, as is Viktor. He can probably count the amount of people he trusts here on one hand, but he cares very deeply for those chosen few.]
Actually, I've got him working on a project for me. So if it works out, I might ask you to help me test it.
no subject
He does seem a useful man to know.
[ He nods in agreement, glancing back at Dodger with some veiled curiosity over that change in his tone.
Of course then that curiosity turns to something else. ]
You want me to help you test it? Dare I ask what it's all about?
no subject
It's a potion, trying to standardize the effects from a flower a mutual friend found. The details don't really matter, but... if it works right, you should be able to fuck me. Without me... panicking.
[Henry's been respectful, so he hasn't seen the way Dodger freezes and locks up when someone so much as touches his ass. But this has been something on his mind since he started feeling more serious about both Esikko and Henry - the urge to patch over his issues, find a way to dull the fear response so he can just get fucked the way he wants, and not worry about burning his partners.
Or at least, burning them significantly less.]
no subject
But there comes the rest and he had a real suspicion that it had to do with sex. Not that that bothers him at this point. Henry knows better than to pry too deeply about why sex with another man would cause panic, so he just gives one more nod. Toxic masculinity is a hell of a drug on its own without whatever bothers Dodger about it. ]
I see. Something to calm the nerves, maybe? Could be a good idea. I wonder if Viktor would share any of his techniques. [ ... ] For the alchemy, I mean.
no subject
[Esikko had been lovedrunk when Dodger found him covered in this flower's pollen... enough that he'd been willing to sleep with Chobe, which was what tipped Dodger off to its potential. It does make him worried that he'd say something stupid, with Henry between his legs, but he can deal with that if and when it happens.
That first bit about techniques gets an amused snort from Dodger, but he nods to the rest.]
You're into alchemy too, huh? Seems like everyone I know is... have you met Esikko Bloemrose? He's good with plants, he'd be able to get you whatever ingredients you need.
[He feels a little antsy about introducing Henry and Esikko, but introducing Viktor and Esikko had gone well. He's sure they'd have a lot to talk about... more than anything, he's just embarrassed by the thought of Henry seeing how he acts around Esikko. Constantly checking on him, making sure he's fed and happy, gazing at him like he's God's gift to humanity.]
no subject
[ It's the least he can do, even if it's weird to say that about sex. But anyway, he huffs softly, waving a hand. ]
Only a little. For salves and tonics and the like. [ Poisons which Dodger does Not need to know ] Nothing grand.
I've not met anyone by that name, no. Why am I not surprised you know a whole armory of useful people around here?
[ He does make a note of Esikko's name though. Plants are indeed very useful. ]
no subject
I like making deals, and so do useful people. If you need anything done, I can probably find someone for it.
[It's a lot of why he's still alive - being too useful to kill, because he can make whatever his boss wants happen.
Dodger pauses to open the elevators, and once the doors are closed behind them he leans over to steal a kiss.]
I can help you with the game, too. It's not too hard to figure out who's got what cards, and set you up with them.
[Which is only a few steps away from human trafficking, since it would likely involve either coercing them or paying them in some way, but Dodger doesn't really think of it that way.]
no subject
[ He's let go of a fair amount of his suspicions but there are some, still. Not that it's been terrible having a connection to things, and someone so willing to explain things. It's just very rare that those kind of things come out of nothing, in Henry's experience.
Maybe stealing kisses is the payoff that Dodger wants though. Hell if he knows. ]
I guess I haven't been paying so much attention to the cards, if I'm being honest. I've been too busy figuring everything else out.
no subject
[He thinks he's getting plenty out of this arrangement they have. Affection, trust, someone who enjoys his company and who he gets to watch experience new things. There are less well-meaning things too - he likes having someone semi-dependent on him, he likes knowing he can make some use out of this connection in his various deals, and that he'll now be able to make some friends by providing weapons for them. But those feel less important, and he feels like Henry's usefulness is becoming less of a concern every time he spends time with him.]
Doesn't have to be now, the offer's open. I got my necklace back from stacking up cards, and I'm working on getting Bloemrose out of the basement. You can use them to get a nicer room, if you want.
[He hasn't really bothered with ranking himself up - maybe he will later, but for now his room is fine for what it is. He only ever used his apartment back home to sleep or collect his notes, and that's all he needs his current room for.]
no subject
[ Teasing aside, it still feels a little too good to be true, and he'll always feel guilty about spending time with any other guy when he should be saving Hans and maybe telling him how he feels before anything else bad can happen and take that away. Alas... there's so little he can do about any of that now. ]
I think the only item I wanted was my sword, but we've got that covered for now.
[ Assuming you can't get horses or dogs or kidnapped nobles back by playing the game, of course. As for his room, it's a real luxury as it is, as far as he's concerned. ]
Can you imagine if I was the King of Spades? I can't. [ He laughs again, shaking his head. But he takes Dodger's offers seriously, so he adds. ] Thank you, though. I'll remember.
no subject
Most people put up with me. Back home, and here. As long as I do what I'm told and get results, they let me stick around. You're... different.
[There are exceptions - a few people here seem to like him, and he did have a boyfriend back home who loved him. A boyfriend he already wasn't thinking about much when he first showed up, and he's been thinking about less and less over time. He probably would have broken up with Jason by now, if he had the ability to.
He takes a deep breath, and tucks his sword under his arm so he can fish out his cigarettes and light one.]
If you were King of Spades, I'd start sleeping over in your room all the time. I've seen the inside of a few of those suites, they're insane.
[He didn't have permission to be in those suites, but... that's not the point.]
no subject
[ If he doesn't like someone, he's either going to go apeshit on them or he's just not going to waste his time at all. There are a lot of things about Dodger that he still wants to figure out, but he finds that he likes him genuinely.
He waves a hand. ] Ah, you're not so bad, really.
[ He shakes his head then, amused at the prospect of King Henry. ] I haven't seen them, but I imagine they're about ten times fancier than Capon's rooms back home.
no subject
[It's the kind of opulence that Dodger would probably feel deeply uncomfortable with, if it was actually his. But sleeping around with someone in power has always appealed to him, and he doesn't mind boosting other people up so he can play out his fantasy.
He glances at the floor number on the elevator, and steals one more kiss before the doors open. This one is far more telegraphed, since he has to struggle for a moment to take his cigarette from his mouth first. Anything to avoid not holding hands, apparently.]
Trust me, I'm a lot worse than you think I am. But I'm glad you like me.
no subject
[ Henry needs to be doing things. And getting fresh air. Or whatever the equivalent in this place full of fake environments is.
He doesn't say anything about Dodger's attempts not to let go of his hand, but there is a little amused quirk of his lips he's trying to hide against the kiss he's given. And yeah, maybe Dodger is a horrible person, but you could argue that Zizka and Hynek and the rest of the pack are too. Henry keeps really nice company, and he wouldn't have it any other way. ]
Maybe. But you've been good to me. That's enough for now.
no subject
[It is genuinely warming his heart. The idea that him being kind to Henry makes it worth giving him a chance... well, it's all he really wants from anyone. And maybe that opinion will chance if Henry sees the real depths of Dodger's depravity, but Dodger will just have to make sure it's a slow trickle of information.]
Here, there should be a pod... down this way. You're gonna have to talk to them again - they listen better to the higher-ranked folks, and you know what we need to have in there.
[He's still willing to pay, just to even things out.]
no subject
I'm just saying how it is.
[ That said, he sighs a little at the prospect of talking to the attendant about these weird little rooms again, but once they reach someone, he does sneak his hand free so he can explain to them everything he wants. A semi-outdoor setting, an anvil, plenty of tools. Actual ones, not sex toys.
If they ask though he definitely lies through his teeth and implies they're going to get real busy in there together. ]
