MEET THE TEAM
♦ DIAMONDS GAME ♦
OMEGADOME: HUNTING GAME
A cheerful pair of game managers stand outside the conservatory doors and block all guests that try to enter. They quickly explain that a special Diamonds game is taking place inside and only guests that agree to participate may enter. This game is a physical exercise that riffs on "Hunting", which is a popular sport in many different countries and civilizations. Of course, it is one hundred percent safe, and all guests that play are eligible to win massive chip prizes, store vouchers, fabulous prizes, and more.
Details about the game? Those can't be shared outside of the conservatory. Only the brave and those willing to risks will reap the benefits of this Diamonds game. So step right up, dear guests, and sign this waiver before stepping into the flourishing beauty of the conservatory for a brand new adventure.
♥ HEARTS GAME ♥
DOUBLES' THERMO: SURVIVAL GAME
Chickadees is sparing no expense on advertising their e-sport games over the course of the sports festival. Posters, notifications, stickers, fliers! Come one, come all. Sports don't need to be physical. Guests that duck into the arcade will find a variety of e-sport games to enjoy, but the real showstopper that every single employee is aggressively promoting is the new immersive VR game, DOUBLES' THERMO.
A large swath of egg-shaped pods have been installed in the back half of Chickadees. Any guest that shows an iota of interest will be assaulted by employees encouraging them to give it a try. They will offer vouchers for a free session, encourage with mentions of prizes that can be won from the arcade's coveted prize wall, and persuade by praising how high tech and immersive the experience is. Some employees are desperate enough to trick or push guests into the pods if they aren't willing to go in themselves.
However they've ended up inside the VR egg, guests will find themselves submerged in strange fluid as the lid closes. Everything fades away into darkness as the game loads...
♣ CLUBS GAME ♣
QUACK AND COVER: SHOOTING GAME
Cloaca & Dagger has temporarily outfitted itself as a neon-bright paintball course. Gone are the wild sex setups in exchange for series of obstacles and obstructions for guests to navigate while in pursuit of paintball championship. This high intensity game of strategy and physical fitness promises to exhilarate! Welcome to Quack and Cover, a game where your shooting skills and ingenuity will be put to the test.
So say the game managers at the door before following up with a few disclaimers. Cloaca & Dagger is not responsible for any physical or psychological trauma guests may incur while inside. Guests that join the game will then be outfitted in tight black underarmor and supplied with a paintball gun and protective mask before being let loose on the course.
♠ SPADES GAME ♠
PECKING ORDER: MMA GAME
During night hours, many long-standing guests make their way through Talon toward the gym’s creaky basement stairs. Three floors down and then through a desolate hallway with littered with abandoned equipment. Double doors wait at the end, unassuming until they’ve been opened…
Flashing lights, jeers, and the thick odor of sweat. You’ve found the Pecking Order, a late-night mixed martial arts event where guests show their prowess in the ring. Spectating guests shout and messily eat snacks on make-shift bleachers while fighters clash inches away, using only their bodies to fight for dominance and win. Pecking Order is very informal; guests only need to sign up in order to get added to the docket. Anyone can watch, though they will be vaguely warned at the door that even spectating comes with risks.
LOCKER ROOMS
YOU WASH MY BACK, I'LL WASH YOURS
Every training and game location has a door labeled LOCKER ROOM right outside the entrance. These doors all connect to the same massive locker room. The magic of these locker room doors goes one way. Trying to go back to the place you just were by backtracking will not work — you’ll just end up in Beak! All guests will be advised to finish their games before hitting the showers.
The Golden Peacock is proud to present our upgraded and extended locker room. Please come in and enjoy the facilities, catch-up with your teammates, and enjoy some healthy drinks provided by our favorite resort convenience store, Cock-a-doodle-doo’s!

[All things considered, she could have woken up in a worse situation. The daringly short white tennis skirt is more of a suggestion than anything actually functional, but the sports bra isn't the worst one she's ever worn, and her underwear is exactly as revealing as a typical swimsuit, so-!! If it bothers her, it doesn't show on her face at all. Like, sure, this whole situation is weird, but again -- not the weirdest one she's ever been in.
At the moment, she seems to be scouting for sports equipment to put in her bag. Tennis racket? Check, that's the sport she played at Gekkoukan with Rio. Hockey stick? Absolutely grabbing that to carry around, but not before giving it a few testing spins in a way that's definitely more suited for smacking someone than actual hockey. Hmmm, or maybe the lacrosse stick has better weight? Better spin that one too, just to be sure.
Watch out!! She has enough control not to smack anyone intentionally, but that doesn't mean the unaware can't bonk into it. Alternatively, she might just walk right up and stick out her free hand for a handshake.]
Hi! Are we on the same team?
2. Hearts Game
Honestly, Kotone would have climbed into the pod even without the promise of a free voucher, but once the free session was offered, well-! Of course she had to get right in, nestling herself right into the pod and making herself comfortable. It's pretty easy to forget it's not actually real once she's on the island, though it feels a little impractical to be wearing her SEES uniform instead of the pink bikini she'd worn when they'd all gone to Yakushima for the summer. At least it means she can hold the jacket over her head for some protection from the blazing hot sun!
Anyway, all she has to do to win the game is form an emotional connection with someone? That's something she's had a lot of practice with. She just has to find whoever her supposed partner is, right? Wandering around blindly seems like a lot of work, so--
She drapes her uniform jacket over her arm and cups her hands around her mouth to shout,] Hellooo~oo!!!
3. Spades Game
[Ooooh she'd just been sitting in the audience watching curiously. Maybe making a few bets because hey, a girl's gotta make money somehow!! But then she's pulled out of the crowd and thrown into the ring to the crowd's cheers. Not good!!
Still, fighting is what she's supposed to do, right? She raises both fists in front of her face like she used to see Akihiko-senpai do and braces herself.]
Okay! Let's go!!
[She's 5'3 and full of determination!! And also zero hand-to-hand fighting experience. It really won't be difficult to beat her without her Personas, but she'll give it her all!]
4. Wildcard!
[Want to run into her somewhere else? Recognize her from being here a year ago? Feel free to use this space, or message this journal!!]
[ Of all the faces he expects to see in the ring, her familiar one is absolutely not even close to being on the list. Not even an after thought on the list! He'd thought she'd disappeared ages ago, but now she's back, and shes also one of the people who he's missed dearly.
How strange, that those he hasn't seen in so long are cropping up now, of all times?
Kazuya lurches forward with surprising speed, ignoring the fact that she does look ready to sock him one, and would be right to do so considering where they are, in an attempt to hug her tight.
If she doesn't end up socking him in the jaw, of course. Maybe he'll even twirl her a little. And even if she does, he'll hardly be detered for long.]
[??? She looks startled for a moment, because how does this guy know her name? Is he a student at Gekkoukan?? Definitely not anybody she's familiar with. Maybe it's supposed to be a trick!! To put her off her guard!]
Hiyaa!!
[And she does sock him, though in the stomach instead of the face. Ooh ouch, that stings, ow!! Ow!!! How the heck was Akihiko-senpai punching Shadows with just his bare fists?! She doesn't quite jump back shaking her hand, but it's obvious that hurt more than she was expecting it to. Okay, maybe talking is better actually-]
[He doubles over a little from the hit, because it still hurts even if she'd hurt herself too. It's okay, he'll get over it at least, even if he's looking up at her, still slightly hunched.]
Y-yeah... You were here for a bit... Do you not remember?
[The crowd goes wild!! And then the crowd boos when neither of them follow up on the attack, because c'mon!! Hit him again!!
Kotone's brows furrow as she stares at him, feeling almost like she's trying to mentally grab a fish or a bar of soap with wet hands. He seems like he should be familiar, almost more of a feeling than anything she can concretely remember.]
I don't... think so?
[She shivers a bit, the bone-deep chill she'd almost been able to ignore when she was up in the stands surrounded by other people frissoning through her once again.]
I'm sorry, I don't... [remember, understand, know what's going on, all of those things and more as she stares back at him, lips twisted in concern.] Were we friends?
[I've done a whole series of hearts prompts all in a row, and I'm not planning to stop now. Meaning: Yu is on the beach. He's wearing his winter uniform. It's hot. And he's supposed to be finding a person to...make a connection with, but there's no one around??
Well. He thought there was no one. And then...!]
Over here! [he shouts back, but he's not going to wait around, either. Instead, he starts trying to head in the direction of the shout.]
[Yes!! The lazy way wins again. She knew combing the island searching for someone would be a waste of time. Making them come to her is just more efficient! Keeping her jacket over her head to protect from the sun, she turns in the direction of the voice, hoping to meet whoever it is halfway. The sand sucks at her school loafers, though, and she almost trips more than once, but she keeps trudging toward -- oh, it's a boy, isn't it? Another boy in a school uniform.
She shifts her jacket to one hand and waves, then points toward the trees. If they're going to meet in the middle, they should head toward the shade, at least until she manages to get her uniform better adjusted for the heat.]
[A girl. Also in a school uniform. Is there... something familiar about it...??
Hm. Never mind, for now.
He's taken off his shoes, for now, opting to carry them instead as he trudges through the sand. This...really is the most impractical situation, isn't it? But he catches her gesture toward the trees, so he nods and starts heading in that direction.
When they're close enough to speak without shouting,] Nice to finally see someone-- [... and then she's close enough to recognize.] ... Kotone?
[She's all set to just assume the trees in this VR world can talk -- like, it's a video game, so why wouldn't the trees talk?? It wouldn't be the weirdest thing she's seen even today -- but oh! No, surprise, it's actually just a boy up there in the leaves.]
Why? [she calls curiously, heading into the shade of the tree and peering up, hoping to get a better look... and hoping he doesn't expect her to climb up to join him. That sounds like an awful lot of effort for an as-of-yet undetermined reward.] Anything good up there?
[the leaves of the tree shuffle. . . before said boy pokes his head out from behind them, hanging upside down from the branch, like some kind of monkey?? there's a white mask perched on the top of his head that somehow doesn't fall down with the force of gravity. . . and he is dressed in a sleeveless gray top that looks a bit too thick and insulated for the weather. it's fine!!]
[. . .]
[there's a momentary pause as he takes her in-- red hair, school uniform, perky attitude-- and something. . . stirs from within. that same echo of the Fool, or something even stronger, beats in the back of his mind perfectly in time with his pulse. it's a sensation he has already felt a few times before. . . and he is starting to understand what it means]
[but for now, he pushes the vague, ethereal familiarity aside to focus on something else: ISLAND FOOD]
[ Mitsuru isn't even sure why she's here, she shouldn't be! As far as she was aware it was the new arrivals being stuck in the bunker, not guests who have been here so long that they can hardly be considered "guests" any longer, like herself.
Yet here she is. In an outfit that can't possibly be considered suitable for sporting activities? Are these supposed to be shorts that she's wearing? She isn't familiar with the term "hot pants" - to her, they might as well just be underwear with how short they are. The top half doesn't exactly leave much to the imagination either, with panels in places that are practically transparent and her cleavage... well, it's there.
All her concerns about her outfit are quickly forgotten though when she spots the back of someone who looks extremely familiar, at least from behind. It couldn't possibly be? It really can't be Kotone standing there brandishing a tennis racket like she's about to smack someone with it? ]
...Shiomi?
[ Perhaps she'll turn around and it won't be her at all. Just some particularly sadistic trick of the house to make Mitsuru dare hope that it's her friend. ]
[Whoosh, whack!! This isn't a bad tennis racket at all!! Kotone had really only used the school equipment -- Tennis Club for her had been more about the people in it than the sport itself -- but this one seems nice. Plus, she can use it to smack a Shadow in a pinch, just in case.
That's a familiar voice, though, and she spins around in search of its source. That's--]
Senpai!
[Abandoning the rack of sports equipment, she all but bounces closer, giving her a beaming smile. And, admittedly, she can't quite keep her eyes locked on the older girl's, gaze drifting down to that exposed cleavage before quickly flitting back up again.]
It's really good to see you.
[That, at least, she means genuinely, her bright smile fading into something smaller but more fond. Kotone had heard her voice on that rooftop before the end -- but it's nice to really see her again.]
[ Kotone is met with a smile from Mitsuru in return, warm, genuine, one of those rarer ones that actually meet her eyes. ]
You too. I can hardly believe it...
[ She doesn't clock the drifting gaze, although she would probably be lamenting the atrocious outfit she's been saddled with for a moment such as this. For now though her thoughts are racing, trying to gauge whether there is any familiarity or recognition for this place within the girl in front of her. Someone that, after the first time being reunited with her here, Mitsuru thought she might never see again. ]
Do you- [ How does she phrase this? ] Do you remember anything? About this place?
[ What do a 37 year old man and a 17 year old girl have in common? Absolutely nothing, probably. Seems like a weird match, but whatever, game.
She's facing the other way when she starts yelling out, and it's rather loud so Lan Wangji simply waits, looming behind her in silence until she's done and then: ]
— Hello.
[ Short and sweet.
And you know what else is short? That skirt. He's getting used to the guys in this place showing off as much skin as they please but he assumes in this case, the poor young lady has been forced into it against her will, so he's already moving to strip off one of his outer robes—— ]
[To her credit, she doesn't yelp or scream when startled; she just jumps a little, whirling around and blinking up at him. Ooh, it's an older guy. Considering Kotone had managed to forge a bond with both an old monk and a sketchy TV-shopping CEO, this is hardly out of the ordinary for her.
But he doesn't say anything else, just starting to strip off his outer robe, and she can sympathize. It's really hot on the beach, hence why she'd taken off her uniform jacket already. She can't blame him for wanting to do the same!]
Well, that was easy! [she decides, clasping her hands behind her back and offering a friendly smile.] I guess you're my partner in this game, right?
[ Off comes that outer robe in all it's lacey white goodness, and although it is still swelteringly hot here, that isn't his intention. Stepping forward, he just.. yeah, the robe gets draped over Kotone's shoulders in order to allow her to cover up. No need to thank him— ]
You may keep it.
[ It almost reaches the floor when Lan Wangji is wearing it, and considering the fact that he's just shy of 6'2", it ends up pooling rather comically on the ground. ]
It would appear so. I shall assist you in what is needed, to complete our scenario. [ That's what the person outside with the pods called it, right? ]
[ "She has enough control not to smack anyone intentionally, but that doesn't mean the unaware can't bonk into it."
Well guess who's wandering around still half asleep. Today, Minato actually managed to roll out of bed on time. And to that he thinks: not today, gopher gods. You'll have to find someone else to perform all that physical labor!
But because all things ultimately trend towards equilibrium, so too does Minato's luck. He's mid-yawn when -- oof, lacrosse stick right in the head. Ow. He crumples to the ground, stunned for a moment, blinking as he starts sitting up to rub at his forehead. ]
...
[ He's okay! But that's probably going to leave a mark, huh... ]
[>Watch where you're going! >Be more careful! >Sorry!
Kotone's eyes widen with a little bit of chagrined concern, and she drops the lacrosse stick to instead rush over to the boy she'd accidentally smacked. At least it wasn't a critical hit--]
Are you okay? [In spite of the length (or lack thereof) of her skirt, she still drops down to her knees to help him sit up.] Sorry, I wasn't expecting you to walk right in front of me...
[ Nor was Minato expecting to walk in front of someone spinning a lacrosse stick. ]
...yeah. I'm okay.
[ He blinks, still a little dazed but slowly coming to. The length of the girl's skirt goes unnoticed for now. She may, however, recognize his Gekkoukan High track suit. ]
I should be more careful...
[ Obviously it's his fault for walking face first into someone swinging sports equipment around as opposed to the other person's. And the way she was twirling it about -- she didn't seem like any ordinary lacrosse player. ]
[ Given that the circumstances of Existing are kind a lot right now, it would be an understatement to say that Ryoji is distracted, and so while he doesn't walk directly into the hockey stick she takes some nice practice swings with, it's a very near thing. Dazed and deep in thought, it's pure instinct that has him reacting in time, ducking his head and jumping back as a gasp of surprise escapes him: ]
Whoa! Close one...
[ And then he's blinking, processing, staring at the girl who almost clocked him. Where recognition should stir, it does not — but why does it feel like it should? She's not one of the students at Gekkoukan. He's great with faces, and he'd remember someone as pretty as her.
Sheepishly, one hand scrubs at the back of his neck, and he chuckles amiably. Well, no harm, no foul, after all. ]
Sorry about that. I probably shouldn't walk around the equipment room without paying attention. Though, it does mean I have the chance to meet you, now.
[Honestly, she's kind of having fun swinging the various sports equipment around! It's been a while since they'd gone through Tartarus together -- and it's been a while since she's had the energy to spare. The last month had been such a struggle that in spite of the lingering questions about, well, this whole situation, it's hard not to feel optimistic!
At the last second, there's a head in her field of vision, and she yanks the hockey stick back more out of reflex than actually seeing who's there. Near miss!!]
Oh, sor-- [her apology dies on her lips, mouth hanging open mid-syllable when she sees just who she'd almost accidentally brained. So stunned is she that she almost doesn't hear everything he says, her heart lurching in her chest and rising into her throat. The last time she'd seen him, him, as Ryoji Mochizuki, had been New Year's Eve, when she'd watched him walk out the door all alone and disappear.
Maybe Aigis had had the right idea, back on Yakushima. When seeing someone you care about so deeply, maybe actions do speak louder than words, even if they don't know who you are. His not recognizing her is something else to unpack later.
For now, she just lunges forward, intending to wrap her arms around him in a tight hug if he'll allow her.]
[ For all the things that Death is intimately familiar with, it is seldom embraced — but he isn't just Death any longer, grown from an untenable form into this, something very nearly human. Something that can experience so, so many emotions at once: warmth, guilt, confusion, relief all bleed together inside his heart. Before Ryoji can even really think about it, he trusts his instinct, what feels right, and winds his arms around her shoulders when she hugs him, careful but reassuring.
Even if he doesn't know her, it's evident that she knows him, and that's all he needs to know to treat her like a friend, when so few even know him as Ryoji Mochizuki. Maybe that will make it more difficult to explain later, but for now, he puts it out of mind. ]
It's alright. I've got you.
[ That, too, comes from instinct, from the time spent latched onto Minato's soul and out on his own, experiencing the world as a human before his memories had returned to him. He has this impossible chance to once again offer the kind of companionship and that Death could never, and far be it for him to squander it, no matter how dangerous it might be, to lean into that side of himself so fully.
Even so, he'll hold onto her for as long as she needs. ]
[ Even when given the opportunity to relive his joyous days in high school for a second time Kobato hated the idea of joining a club. He avoided all of them, weaving through NPCs programmed to encourage others into their lifelong dream of becoming a star athlete, renowned artist, or Michelin star chef, in the hopes of spending all of his available time to do exactly as he wanted.
He looks at all of the training equipment impassively, lightly tapping a baseball bat with his foot as he almost -- almost -- wishes that he had just stayed asleep. At least being a gopher would have helped pass the time.
He blinks thrice when he's greeted with an unfamiliar voice, pushing all his negativity into the pit of his stomach once he's realized that it's a girl talking to him. Immediately Kobato is beaming, reaching out to take her hand in his. ] Looks like it! [ He genuinely has no idea and doesn't fucking care. ] I was nooooot expecting to be teaming with a total cutie, but that's just a win for me! Name's Kobato, btws.
Oh! [Kotone lets him take her hand without struggle, even curling her fingers into his a little. Her hands are freezing cold, her body suffused with an icy chill since she'd woken up down here, so the contact is nice to have! She does look a little nonplussed by the compliment, though, it bouncing off her like so much extra wording as she hones in on the key words.] Thanks! I'm Kotone.
[Just first names is fine with her! Considering the kind of laid-back atmosphere this place has toward familiarity, she'll just go with whatever other people decide. If Kobato here has decided they're on a first-name basis, who is she to say otherwise? He almost reminds her of Junpei in a way, a thought that brings a hint of fondness to her smile.]
So which sport are we doing together? [Yeah, she just believes him when he says they're on the same team.]

meet the team!
no subject
That's a familiar voice, though, and she spins around in search of its source. That's--]
Senpai!
[Abandoning the rack of sports equipment, she all but bounces closer, giving her a beaming smile. And, admittedly, she can't quite keep her eyes locked on the older girl's, gaze drifting down to that exposed cleavage before quickly flitting back up again.]
It's really good to see you.
[That, at least, she means genuinely, her bright smile fading into something smaller but more fond. Kotone had heard her voice on that rooftop before the end -- but it's nice to really see her again.]
no subject
(no subject)
hearts bc i gotta tag you after a million years
She's facing the other way when she starts yelling out, and it's rather loud so Lan Wangji simply waits, looming behind her in silence until she's done and then: ]
— Hello.
[ Short and sweet.
And you know what else is short? That skirt. He's getting used to the guys in this place showing off as much skin as they please but he assumes in this case, the poor young lady has been forced into it against her will, so he's already moving to strip off one of his outer robes—— ]
HONESTLY THO IT'S BEEN FOREVER
[To her credit, she doesn't yelp or scream when startled; she just jumps a little, whirling around and blinking up at him. Ooh, it's an older guy. Considering Kotone had managed to forge a bond with both an old monk and a sketchy TV-shopping CEO, this is hardly out of the ordinary for her.
But he doesn't say anything else, just starting to strip off his outer robe, and she can sympathize. It's really hot on the beach, hence why she'd taken off her uniform jacket already. She can't blame him for wanting to do the same!]
Well, that was easy! [she decides, clasping her hands behind her back and offering a friendly smile.] I guess you're my partner in this game, right?
too long !

meet the team. grips u.
no subject
[>Watch where you're going!
>Be more careful!
>Sorry!
Kotone's eyes widen with a little bit of chagrined concern, and she drops the lacrosse stick to instead rush over to the boy she'd accidentally smacked. At least it wasn't a critical hit--]
Are you okay? [In spite of the length (or lack thereof) of her skirt, she still drops down to her knees to help him sit up.] Sorry, I wasn't expecting you to walk right in front of me...
no subject
...yeah.

meet the team!!
[ It's ever a privilege to meet someone new. ]
!!!
For now, she just lunges forward, intending to wrap her arms around him in a tight hug if he'll allow her.]
i am immediately sad
my work here is done 💖

meet the team
Name's Kobato, btws.
no subject
[Just first names is fine with her! Considering the kind of laid-back atmosphere this place has toward familiarity, she'll just go with whatever other people decide. If Kobato here has decided they're on a first-name basis, who is she to say otherwise? He almost reminds her of Junpei in a way, a thought that brings a hint of fondness to her smile.]
So which sport are we doing together? [Yeah, she just believes him when he says they're on the same team.]
