If I stay? [ vivi doesn't hide the clubs suit on her arm and neither does robin hide the way she glances at it, amusement coloring her tone. ] And have you chosen to stay, Princess?
[ robin knows the answer already. vivi still has a dying kingdom to save, and this little detour isn't bringing her any closer. ]
no subject
Baroque Works means nothing here. But Vivi has information, and that does have weight. More than that, she's not alone.
Her demeanor softens by an estimate of millimeters at the thought.]
It isn't a choice, I'm afraid. Not even for you.

but more importantly, they're at a stalemate. ]
You're right. Not even for me.
[ she's not so proud that she can't acknowledge the truth for what it is. however— ]
Here's my offer to you, Princess: a truce. I've no interest in your affairs here, nor do I intend to cause you harm. As far as anyone is concerned, we're strangers to each other.
[ they could stand here all day attempting to gain the upper hand, but that's hardly productive. no alabasta, no baroque works; no hard feelings. a clean slate, as it were. ]

Well. It doesn't really matter, though.]
I accept. [A clean slate. It's worth quite a lot.] Call me Vivi. [...] Please.
[She's not quite ready to release that particular cat from its bag, no matter how it might ease Zoro's suspicions of her.
... Ah. Speaking of that--]
There are some here who know of Baroque Works. Its naming conventions, for example. Whether you use a codename or a different name is up to you, of course...but it will stand out.

I'm aware.
[ the usual playful amusement in robin's tone slips just slightly, replaced with something close to resignation. two decades of running from her fate and name, and she's finally made to confront it here, far from the seas she knows. she's used to being alone, but she's reminded, keenly, once more of what it's like.
the door to the dressing room across from them opens as another guest is ushered in with gowns to try on, followed closely by staff. one of them informs them that the officiant is waiting before entering the dressing room, and robin adjusts her hat once more before walking past vivi and stepping out onto the casino floor. ]
Call me Robin.

It's probably foolish to wonder whether that's her real name, or just something she's come up with. Just as foolish as offering information without incentive -- information that will potentially allow the woman to blend in, slip unnoticed through the resort and fool her friends... Following the other woman into the chapel would also be unwise, of course -- now is a perfect opportunity to slip away unnoticed.
An opportunity she doesn't take.
Vivi could tell herself it's because she should keep an eye on Robin. She could tell herself that if anyone should be in this situation with a Baroque Works agent, it might as well be her. The truth, of course, is that she's curious, noting the minor fracture in Robin's usually easy tone, the truce that the other woman proposed. So she follows the other woman into the chapel to face Birdvis.]
