They're annoying, at best. Not an unfamiliar creature and not one he can't easily deal with even given the flimsy nature of the crude sword Kaveh had gifted him with. They had been unable to make it to the much famed treasure room and had left a few jobs unfinished. If Kaveh hadn't hurt himself, Alhaitham wouldn't be returning.
He'll consider his effort spent here as good enough for the rent he can't afford to pay Kaveh in return. Particularly if he's fortunate enough to make it to the famed treasures at the end.
Alhaitham is making short work of the slimes in his way. He has a pouch at his side filled with all the cores he's managed to obtain thus far.
He's ventured into various water-filled chambers. He suspects he must be approaching the heart of the tunnels, each room's waters deeper. Alhaitham, dripping wet, is making much needed use of the shallow edge of this pool to skirt the length of the room. When the water surface breaks, ripples and small waves crashing against Alhaitham's knees, it has his utmost attention. When the dark depths of the water seemingly spits out a man, Alhaitham is notably confused until he recognizes that's a slime that's spit this man out. A massive slime, almost invisible in the waters and Alhaitham realizes with some dulled surprise, it must have swallowed him.
He thinks back to the numerous chests he'd spied in the waters and wonders how many were traps laid like this. ]
Hey, [ Alhaitham isn't particularly loud, but in the quiet chamber his voice feels loud anyway. He has the decency to sound somewhat urgent, almost concerned. He's kind enough to pull the man up into the shallows and helps keep him upright. He's covered in slime and Alhaitham's lip curls in disgust over it, but he still delivers a couple firm whacks to the stranger's back to help him expel any water or, worse, slime he'd swallowed. ]

It's not that he wanted to be eaten by a slime — of course not. Who would want that? But he was trying to navigate through the dungeons despite not being much of an Adventurer type but his nosy nature got the best of him and here he was. At least, that was fine until he spotted a porno mag deep in the waters and when he bent down to pick it up, he got jumped on by a bunch of slimes. Curse his foul curiosity.
In the end, he was swallowed up by the biggest slime of them all, one that was bigger than him as a person, and unfortunately had to struggle his way out of it afterwards. He ends up spit up in the end, after enough kicking and thrashing inside of it, and collapses in the shallow waters. That's when he feels hands grabbing him, pulling him up to where there's less water and sitting him up.
When he gets thumped on the back, that helps because he does end up coughing up a fair bit of water (and, gross, slime) suddenly, turning away from Alhaitham to spit it up to the side. He feels gross, looks gross, and is regretting all actions he took that led him here. The strangest part though, is he's not cold. In fact, his body is feeling warmer than he expected it to be. ]
Eurgh. [ Cough, cough, cough. ] Thanks...?
[ He's just been saved! And now he is ... covered in slime and doesn't have anything to wipe himself off with. Oh god, it's drying on his skin and in his hair. So gross. ]

He's not the most enthusiastic when it comes to heroic behavior, but it's not hard work dragging Date a couple feet out of the deeper water and onto the shallow edge Alhaitham had been traversing. Less effort to smack his back a few times and ensure he doesn't topple back over into the water. He guesses its good the guy coughs up what he does. Once Alhaitham is mostly confident the stranger isn't about to drown in the shallow water, he lets go.
He hates the way his shoes are soggy, full of water. He definitely hates the gooey slime sticking to his fingers. Once he's let go of Date, he's attempting to wipe the slime off of his hands. It doesn't look especially gross, fairly harmless. The texture is horrific. ]
Ugh. Try not to get swallowed by monsters again.
[ He's not big on needless sympathy but after attempting and mostly failing to wipe off the slime from his hands. When he looks back at the shiny coat of slime sticking to Date, he definitely feels a pang of sympathy. There aren't a lot of worse fates. ]
