JOB POSTING ONE! BIG PAYOUT FOR EASY WORK!
I am a pharmacist looking for some brave adventurers willing to go down into the dungeon and collect dongle flower milk for me. I need at least 10 bottles! This is an important ingredient in one of my popular prescriptions. I am not athletic enough to go get it myself and my supplies are running low.
Please deliver all dongle flower milk to the medical shop in the northwest corner of the market. Please note, I need FULL bottles. Do not skimp or I won't pay!
JOB POSTING TWO! HELP A WOMAN'S GROWING BUSINESS!
I am a young lady looking to expand my make-up business. I heard rumors that there's water in the dungeon that could make an AMAZING base for make-up products. But it sounds like it's super scary in there and I don't want to go. Please, someone, help!
You can bring all bottles of dungeon water to the make-up booth in the southeast corner of the market. I'm willing to pay in chips or trade some of my current products. My face masks and nail polishes are really good!
JOB POSTING THREE! PLEASE DON'T ASK WHY!
Hello. I need many dungeon slime cores, so I am looking for everyone and anyone willing to go slime hunting and gather some for me. We can negotiate pay based upon the number of slime cores brought. Do not inquire what the slimes or their cores are needed for.
Please bring all slime and slime core deliveries to back door of the Dried and Baked Sundries shop. Thank you!
JOB POSTING FOUR! I WANT COLLECTABLES!
If you're going into the dungeon, I want collectables. If you find that fabled treasure room, bring me back something cool and shiny. I'm willing to pay good money! I don't care what it is as long as it's hard to get and I can brag to my friends about it.
You can find me drinking in the tavern. I'll be wearing expensive velvet and a tiny hat with a feather.

New Arrival
[The man in the Fox Mask wakes in a dungeon, slumped against a wall. Despite arriving deprived of all his usual finery, he's still got his mask. It's on theme, okay.
Beyond that, he's been left entirely nude. His long, silver hair is down and hangs both over and beneath a heavy, metal collar at his neck. Blinking his eyes awake, he groans to sit himself forward, a chain creaking as he does so. He's bolted to the ceiling above, though there's some slack. The yoke is heavy on his shoulders, loose enough the he could just pull it straight over his head. Once he has gathered the strength, that is.
Eyes that glow behind the mask look across the dungeon room he's within. Is someone with him? Did someone just enter? He's unsure, but he asks with a soft voice, disoriented and perhaps sounding suspiciously calm.]
Who's there-? Is that you, -... [whatever name that might have left his lips stops before being said. No, this is very different person, or perhaps a monster has entered in to find him in such a state. Ah, this is coming into some focus for him- is this a nightmare or just some manner of punishment?]
FLOOR 3
CW: Monster, Injured animal imagery
Potential CWs: Violence and monsterfuckery tbh
[In the forest, a massive animal prowls with vicious intent. The Shichibi appears as a fox with seven magnificent tails. His orange and white coat is halfway stained, bloody and festering with open sores. He moves silently, though his furious growls can be heard rumbling when he wishes them to be heard.
Somehow, the beast came to be and is stalking in an enraged state. Bitter and angry with his current predicament, he looks for prey to chase.
Women (especially with short, black hair) will not be attacked. Anybody else should watch their back. The fox is a clever creature, despite his size, he will sneak up in the fog. His glowing eyes are likely to give him away before even his mass of size does. He may even wait to strike, allowing those eyes to be seen watching and following for some time, first.
A throw down fight might knock some sense into him, or a more caring approach to tend his obvious wounds could calm his bitter fury.]
Big SHf Spoilers within!
The Winding Market
[After discovering his way up from the dungeons, Fox Mask got the run down on what the hotel really is. He cannot say he understand it in full, but it is his current predicament, like it or not. As a wildcard, he doesn't exactly have much money to spare on clothing nor feeding himself, but...
The first shopkeeper to see him coos and calls him with haste to try on her silks. She outfits him in a beautiful kimono to his liking and comfort, flirting with him all the while. Insisting he take the ensemble free of charge, he attempts to push back on such charity, but there's no convincing her. Dressed to his usual comfort, it does take him some time and several polite excuses to leave the store.
After that, he's handed a drink by a swooning hotel waitress. Then, he's fawned over by the next food cart merchant and the next and the next. He doesn't really recognize the treatment as strange. His unconscious assumption is that his family name must still hold weight in this strange place.
Such privileged treatment is actually because he took a long bath on Floor 5, before returning to the upper levels. His aura is pure appeal and mystique, a man difficult to resist. And here he can scarcely clock a difference in how he's usually treated... it might be time for a wake up call, but does anybody have the willpower to resist such foxy charms?]
floor 3! | spoilers a-ok!
As the fog settles heavy and thick, she begins to find herself shivering. Too often, the most dangerous things in woods like these aren't the animals at all — they're the people with evil designs who see it as an opportunity.
It isn't long before the sense that she's being watched begins to settle over her. Instinct sends her pressing her back to an ancient, moss-covered tree, holding her crossbow to her chest as she tries to listen for approaching footsteps. Something glows in the distance, then vanishes again — an illusion? Or something else?
It's only after she's gone a little further, trembling and wary, that she catches sight of blood spattered against the undergrowth and the dirt underfoot. That's a bad sign. Either there's something wounded around (animal or human), or a fresh kill has just been dragged through, and either way, that means there's something about that she's probably not at all equipped to defend herself against —
Except that when she turns to hasten back the way she came, those glowing eyes are close, and right in the path she'd meant to take to retreat, and a real huntress would have instinct enough to draw her crossbow and take aim at whatever is lurking in the fog — which is why it's all the more obvious that she isn't one, when she carelessly lets her weapon fall from her shoulder to the ground instead.]
A-Ah — !

[The Shichibi tempered his rage at watching the young woman pass through the cover of fog. He stalked after her, keeping eyes on her like prey for the hunting, though did not approach for some time. She was armed with a weapon, smartly so, and distance is to his advantage in the fog.
He's motivated by some some misguided form of concern. Better he be the monster chasing her out of the forest than another with worse intentions. He can play the part of dangerous beast, if it moves her along someplace safer...
However, she stops and turns around, seeing him drawn closer than he had intended. An irresistible attraction to get closer to her, the animalistic instincts overwhelming his human judgement. Still, he watches as the crossbow is dropped in fear and he steps forward, parting some of fog. His long limbs and permanently grinning maw coming into focus for her, only the hint of his mny tails splay out as shadows surrounding him.
He looms and speaks, voice regal and well spoken despite the eerie distortion of his gravelly tone,]
You should not linger here. Gather back your weaponry and flee.
no subject
[There's no doubting that the creature in the fog is a monster; it goes without saying, even just from the glowing eyes and the growling voice. But when the mist parts enough that she can start to make out the shape of its snout, and its ears, and the ragged fur and whiskers that surround its piercing gaze, something stirs subconsciously in the back of her otherwise frightened mind, momentarily overriding her previous terror in favor of something almost like perplexed confusion.
If this creature wanted to kill her, she thinks in a moment of bizarre rationality, it could've done so at any time. It didn't need to follow her, or announce its presence to her, and it certainly didn't need to tell her to run. So why, then, would it bother to stop to talk to her? If it just wanted a chase, there were plenty of better ways it could've done that.
She swallows hard, not making a move for her crossbow, but squaring her shoulders and facing the presence head-on.]
I don't want to stay here any longer than I have to, but I need to find the path that goes further down into the dungeon. Do you know where it is?
[She sucks a shaky breath.]
If this is your forest, and you want me out of it, it'd be simpler to just tell me the way to go. And then I could leave you alone that much faster. That makes sense, doesn't it?
no subject
Spoiler for Icon
My forest-? No.
[There is a low, bubbling laugh from the beast at the presumption. He holds no authority here, yet of course the raw aura of intimidation would insinuate otherwise. His head tilts downward, long neck craning to meet a human level. He tilts one way and begins to pace around her in a wide circle, still at a distance, still somewhat obscured in the clouded fog.]
I have been spirited away to this place. A cruel indignity for a fox.
[Despite the fog, what is clear is the blistered sores upon him, trickling blood as he stalks around her. His fur is stained in patches, yet he doesn't seems all the concerned with his own injury. If they were caused by another monster, a trap he fell into, or merely self inflicted is entirely unclear.
He jumps with abrupt and erratic swiftness, landing close to her with teeth and glowing eyes. Curiously, not snapping nor lashing out,]
Run! Do not stop until you find your escape! Lest I catch and devour you, first.
[oh, he's just being tough, and he puts on a good show of it! Very intimidating, trying to scare her along her way.
He's a self professed monster, but a worse kind of beast would lure her with sweet words and heed her stay. Better to be the kind that frightens her onward, so she doesn't return to such danger.]

Floor 3 → Don't mind spoilers
Tohsaka halts her advance. The blades of grass tickle her exposed legs as the cool fog condenses on the fine vellus hairs of her arms. The skirt of her armor more like a cape attached at the waist. A silly get up, in her opinion, but the shops weren't really offering much else than 'silly get up's.
For now she does not turn toward the eyes she knows watch her. No guarantee they aren't something like Mystic Eyes. Some have the power to petrify enemies. Some see the truth in lies. Others may see the past, future, or even to the heart of someone. Windows to the soul could very well instead be windows to the afterlife. No use in chancing it.]
I know you're there. Do you intend to keep following me? Do you wish to strike, or are you just shy?
hey girl hey -spoilers linked
Spoiler for Icon
[The Shichibi sees himself a noble beast, frenzied or not. He will not slink off and hide when addressed so directly. Such cowardice in retreat is not to be tolerated of himself. His eyes do not blink, approaching as he circles around Tohsaka's current position. A predator moving in with clever, unhurried caution.
The iron smell of blood wafts along the fog, dripping off of his fur, though she cannot yet make out his form in such detail. The fog obscures all but the glow of his eyes and the faint mass of his silhouette, seven tails whipping around in the mist.
His voice is uncanny and distorted, but well spoken. A beast with dignity, believing himself above the other wretches of these buried woodlands,]
You linger too long. Run from here, lest you invite dangers worse than I.
LONG TIME NO SEE
And what about yourself? Are you going to tell me that isn't your blood I smell in the air? It's fresh. Either you recently cleared the area yourself, or you're hurt. Either way, it's safer here for me at the moment than it could have been. I'm impressed you've kept enough of your wits about you to speak.
[Though perhaps that's just an ill-formed assumption on her part considering she assumes whatever has made this fellow guest huge is part of the dungeon scheme rather than something innate to their existence.]
I return... with a foxy man...
Spoiler for Icon
[the Shichibi lunges abruptly out from the fog, closing the distance between them in an instant. He lands just within snapping distance of a horrifying maw of teeth, seemingly unable to close cleanly, hung in a permanent grin. Orange fur is clung to with blood which bubbles around festering sores,]
A fox will never lose his wits, even in his rage. You, however, test my patience with your arrogance! Flee, while I am still amused enough to grant to you a running start.
[he's all talk and bluster. Just trying to get her to frighten away and run for it.
Any man who stumbled upon his path would have not been spared teeth and claw when he lunged ahead. A lone woman, though... Better to scare along her way before anything more unfortunate than a close call with an evil fox could befall her.]

new arrival (spoilers ok)
[However, not all those imprisoned were done wrongfully so.]
[The pale skin of Clara's face reflects off what little light exists in the dingy room. The rest of her body is mostly covered by a cloak. As she steps, small glimpses imply that there may be little under the cloak. As she gets close, her dark and matte hair contrasts with his shining silver.]
[Her eyes draw over his features, not lasciviously, but critically. And to his question she shakes her head distinctly and solemnly. Whoever she is, she knows she is not who he is looking for.]
no subject
My apologies for the indecency... where is this-? Why am I here?
[questions asked and not fully expected to be answered. A glance at the situation and he can't really expect it to be explained to him so easily. Still, it fills the still air of the room.
The collar sits heavy upon him and he lifts a hand to grasp it. The edges are dull and broad, hanging over him with heft rather than tightness. If he took a different form, he's sure that would swap. He feels weak, uncertain if that is from being drugged, cursed, or some other affliction placed upon him by his captors. It's really just grogginess from freshly awakening in such a compromising and uncomfortable position, it would fade soon enough.]
no subject
[However, this wasn't her city. This was a world in which many people were brought in from many other worlds. Although something about him seems more than human she has no way to confirm it. And he's clearly new to the situation. And he did apologize which is leagues above Clara's standards for a person.]
[She reaches out to lay her hands under the yoke. It's not so heavy that her help is needed and yet she does it anyways. She's taking the time to also consider what's easier for her: she doesn't have answers that are satisfying but she does have answers. She could use her Watch but the harsh blue lighting from the device might startled someone already in a strange situation.]
[Well, this was why she bothered to get a "voice" in the first place.]
I do not know why you were chosen, or how you were chosen, but you are here now. This place is, [a brief pause, a glance up to the stone ceiling] usually brighter. However, since it is a place we are trapped I feel this appearance is appropriate enough.
no subject
There is no reason for that for now. He looks to Clara with further thanks in his half masked expression. The "voice" does surprise him, but he listens intently to her explanation,]
This place... does it have a name? A purpose-?
[he's fairly certain it is somehow punishment, maybe inflicted upon him by the Tsuneki's themselves, fed up with his failure. Not impossible, despite how valuable he was to them, he was still born as an outsider. Perhaps they found a more suitable heir, or he was simply too much of a disappointment to remain.
He'll be really surprised when he sees the glamorous upper levels to this dungeon.]

new arrival; gen and cool with spoilers
He can kind of respect it, especially since it might make this whole rescuing thing easier. He steps closer to him and soon the red glow of his visor meets the glowing eyes coming from behind the fox mask.]
Uh, hey? Don't worry, I'm gonna help you get out of your current position. Because that sucks.
no subject
Thank you... you have my profound gratitude.
[Very formally spoken, even in such dire straights.
He reaches his hands to the collar hanging like a yoke around his neck and shoulders. It's far more heavy than tight, wide enough to be lifted up over his head with ease, but his arms aren't managing on his own. If Scott could help him out with that, it would be the biggest first step in setting the masked man free,]
no subject
Yeah, sure. No problem, I wouldn't want to hang around naked either.
[There's almost a sarcastic edge in his voice, mostly trying to make this situation a little less tense for the both of them. While at the same time he's genuinely focused on getting him free, Scott stepping closer to him before reaching forward to help lift what's needed to get him out. He considers just blasting the collar off with the focused lens of his visor, but maybe that can be a secondary option if this doesn't work.
So, while he's pulling and helping him out of this--]
I'm Scott, by the way. Scott Summers.

Slumping an arm across his lap to provide himself some vague sense of dignity, the mysterious new arrive will offer a bow of his head,]
Tsuneki. Tsuneki Kotoyuki. [it sounds like it took him a moment to remember the full thing, disorientation still lingering. He lifts his head and offers a handshake with his other arm, which has a device he's never seen before bound to his wrist. The telltale sign he's a new guest, the wrist watch of the hotel,]

only the way this man seemed, well he seemed infinitely more suited into making this pink haired woman into his prey. regardless of the roles, she caught him before he slipped his way past and up to the fifth floor. his charming mystique and and appeal was difficult to resist but more importantly something else caught reira's eyes. )
Excuse me, are you new here? You....are you from Japan by any chance?
( ooc | hello, hope this is okay. currently there is a clone of layla here running around the resort and I'm writing from that angle to make this more fun/work. that clone basically embodies all the worst parts of reira [selfish, reckless, manipulative, desperate, etc]. I'd prefer to avoid major spoilers of shf as I haven't played it before but I do play sh characters myself so good with anything otherwise! feel free to ignore this tag if that doesn't work).
new arrival! spoilers a-ok
[It's when the clink of his chains disrupt the silence that the figure freezes in place, and then turns slowly towards him.]
Oya. It's awake.
[The man says, mostly to himself, and stepping further into the slight shafts of light in the dungeon brings more detail into view. Hair falls over a strange paper covering on one of the man's eyes, his presence a strange mix of ill-intent and prickly cleanliness. His scent is incense over a vague, candy-like sweetness. He comes to a stop a few feet away from the maximum give on Fox Mask's chain, and grazes his eyes over him, like merchandise.]
What do you think? Shall we help each other escape?
spoilers it will be because lol and lmao
When the Fox Mask speaks in answer, it's not exactly deferential. Any outright aggression is contained, simmering beneath his suspicious tone. An attempt to be diplomatically calm in such a vulnerable situation,]
You don't appear... trapped at all. Who are you? What am I here for-?
nods fast
[Arms folded into kimono sleeves adjust idly, hands out of sight. The man turns his head to glance back towards the slitted window- more like the breathing holes in a carry box for a small animal, than meant to give a view.]
But nonetheless, I am equally unable to leave this chamber. In fact, there doesn't seem to be a proper door. If I had to guess, it's being hidden with a spell, but I've been unable to locate it as of yet. I imagine our captor will want us to complete some ridiculous task in order to break it.
[He skips only one of Fox Mask's questions, the one he deems unnecessary to answer. Beasts don't need to be given introductions. His head turns back, and as his eye takes in the man's full form again, he adds with a considering tone,] ...I have some idea of what that might entail.
no subject
[the eerie calm he speaks this with is perhaps impressive. There's anger, but it is so respectfully subdued that it reads with utmost confidence. Nobody would dare abduct and kidnap the heir to the Tsuneki's, yet it seems they have, so they will face the consequence of that.
The Fox Mask is entirely certain, at least for now, that that retribution will only take a matter of time to resolve. Which means for now, they need a more immediate solution.]
I take it you're familiar with this situation. What would your idea be?

[He's not the only one who ended up in the dungeon, in some kind of collar. But Takumi lucked out, one way or another -- the chain his metal bindings were connected to were loose, easy to break with even normal strength. As if someone wanted him to escape.
Still. He drags the chain from a metal collar when he approaches Fox Mask, likewise dressed in... next to nothing. That's a problem for later, okay?!]
Are you alright? [A beat.] Of course you aren't. Do you think you can walk if I get you out of that?
vague spoilers only and gen are a can do!!
[he mutters in response, reaching to his mask and adjusting it, as if it were briefly causing him pain. Lifting his head, he looks to Takumi with a serious expression, since they appear to be in the same dire situation,]
What about you? Are you alright-?
no subject
I'm a bit sore from waking up in a dungeon, but yeah. I'm good, otherwise. I'm fine, I mean. [He approaches Fox Mask, trying to eye the yolk and Absolutely Nothing Else.]
