During this time, all Watches will be disabled to the most basic functions (texting, calls, checking chip account) in order to encourage guests to disconnect.
Please look forward to two weeks of finding yourself amongst the trees. We hope you enjoy your stay, and have a fan-CAMP-stic time. 】

CAMPING
GETTING OFF THE GRID
As the resort moves into what it claims is autumn, the days grow shorter. The projected sun in the Vale sets in the afternoon, after which a faint chill falls. Then there’s the most excessive transformation of all – a portion of the Vale has transformed into a campground complete with a scenic lake, seemingly overnight. Statues nearby have been dressed up with flannel jackets and suspenders. Folksy banjo fills the air without any discernible source.
A section of the campgrounds have been reserved for tents. These tents vary in size, shape, and supplies. All tents, regardless of quality, are supplied with sex toys and lube. Staff and long-standing guests all agree — pretending to live in the wilderness and 'rough it' for a while is thrilling. This is what the peasants feel like all the time!

HOME ON THE RANGE
Welcome to the Peacock Campgrounds! Nicknamed the Stomping Grounds by long-standing guests. Rustic and right off a sparkling lake, guests will find everything they need to live in the wilderness. Staff have expertly set up fire pits, benches, hammocks, and a wooden shed to act as a tool depository. There's even an outhouse, which is a real novelty to many of the long-standing guests. Do they just... squat over that hole and do their business? How wild!
Unlike previous resort-sponsored excursions, guests are expected to manage without the help of staff. That pile of wood won't be replenished once used; guests will have to go chop down trees and split their own. Food won't magically appear in their tents regardless of rank. Camping is all about living off the land. Though staff make themselves scarce to make the experience feel real, they lurk in the shadows, discreetly providing necessary tools and fixing broken equipment so guests won't struggle too much. It isn't fun if it's real hardship, after all!

ACTIVITIES
TWO WEEKS OF ROUGHING IT
Camping can't be all about survival. Where's the fun in that? Before 'leaving', the staff arrange activities and events for guests to enjoy. A wooden bulletin board outlines times for group hikes, camping experiences, and wilderness delights. Adirondack chairs line the edge of the lake and a few tire swings hang over the water, tied to strong tree branches. For the first week and a half the weather is pleasant and sunny. Perfect for camping.
At night, acoustic guitars and other wooden instruments come out so that guests can make music around the bonfire. Projected stars dapple the night sky, forming various constellations sourced from guest worlds. The moon enters a different phase each night, shining a gentle silver across the campgrounds. Why not pull your sweetheart in and cuddle beneath the night sky? It's so romantic.

HOWLING
CALL OF THE WILD
Temperatures drop drastically at night as the camping excursion nears its end. Nights become so chilly that morning dew frosts over, crunching beneath guest feet. Every day the light and its warmth set a little bit earlier. Staff remain elusive and do not provide warmer blankets or clothes for guests, leaving them to cuddle for warmth or find other ways to sleep comfortably during nightly cold snaps.
The moon hits its apex on the final night of camping. Unlike the other nights, this full moon shines blood red. The Vale stills under this ominous sign, silent. Snowflakes begins to fall, spreading an endless clean sheet across the campgrounds. That reflected pink hue is inescapable.

wildcard perhaps...!!
He ends up feeling like another task on the pile, like maybe he should let him have some quiet moments in peace.
So he does... For a bit. But it's only a few days before he finds himself unable to shake the thoughts of talking to him, of sitting around and whining about having to do work, of complaining just to hear him list off ideas and grumpily walk him through how to solve his problems. Fond thoughts, mixed with anxious thoughts ever-there but always buried.
He decides that he'd like to at least bring something, with how Bakugo has been helping him with the basement rooming situation. It feels wrong to stay with any one person for too long, feels like a burden, and so this time, before he prepares to ask to stay at least one night in his fancy tent, Esikko makes himself useful in one way he knows how: foraging. He gathers a variety of things he knows to be helpful, to be tasty, to be safe, and wraps them carefully in satchels he folds from some of the cloth scraps he'd seen deposited in the campsite. With this little bundle of goodies in hand, he arrives at Bakugo's tent, calling out once he's close enough. )
Helloooo~ ( He leans, trying to peer around the tent at the various amenities he has set up here. Is he outside, or inside? ) I have something for you, so can I come in?
( He's in more modern clothes, and more western, than his usual— jeans, a tank, a zip-up hoodie that's shrugged off his shoulders— and he looks tired, but otherwise healthy. Especially compared to the clinic. )
no subject
Bakugo's leaned to a stone outside his tent, back slotted flush on its cool surface, a long stretch of fabric thrown over his lap. Took him a while to whittle down a few needles from a strong piece of wood, but he managed. Thread salvaged from a ruined blanket trails after one of those oversized splinters as he passes it back and forth across the tent flap's surface, quickly and efficiently sewing the tear shut with quiet motions. The front of his tent hangs open for now, its inner covering parted while he works on repairing the outer.
A call perks his attention and he glances up towards the voice. Hmph. He recognizes it easily. Doesn't bother rising from his place. Stays put until he sees Esikko finally come wandering around to this side of his campsite. He's got the front in eye view, so no one's gonna be successful at sneaking in while he's occupied. Doesn't stop the prince from peering inside his tent. Yeah, plenty of shit in there no one priding themselves on "roughing it" would be caught dead with. There's a reason Bakugo's got a fire going in the firepit, salted meat drying on a line, some scoured potatoes and carrots stored, and other things showcasing he knows how to survive.]
What the hell are you wearing? [He's never seen Esikko in something so... modernly casual. Are those jeans?]
no subject
What? Isn't this something people wear often, these days?
( He was told as much, anyway, and he's going to be annoyed if that's not the case. Even if he feels plenty confident about his appearance, there's something about someone he likes questioning a simple thing like this that has a moment of doubt flickering through his mind. Just a moment, though, before he huffs. )
And don't I look good in anything?
( He offers forward his folded package of goodies. Layered and separated with different cloth scraps to keep them together and dry, he's arranged layers of mushrooms and a variety of herbs, harvested neatly and laid out with care. Once he's successfully passed it off to him, he folds his arms behind his back, eyes taking in the work that Bakugo's been doing on his tent. )
Anyway, I thought you'd find some use for these.
no subject
[Did he seriously have to look down at himself?! What, forget what he was wearing already? Ugh, Bakugo runs a hand across the side of his head in mild frustration before returning to the work spread across his lap. Whatever, Esikko can wear what he wants. He's surprised the guy found clothes like that out here... unless he's been wearing them since the start.
Relax. It's not that he thinks the clothes look weird or Esikko dressed in them looks bad. He was surprised the prince actually wanted to don such modern casual things when he's so used to the guy wearing more upper-crust outfits and "pretty" clothing. As Esikko affirms a few seconds later.]
Heh, you pull off some things better than others.
[Don't expect him to butter you up, Prince Prick. Bakugo sets the thread and needle down when Esikko offers the packages to him. He reaches out for one, then carefully but quickly opens it partial to glance inside. Mushrooms and herbs. Huh, leave it to the plant fanatic to know where to find these things in the woods.]
Aa, I can use them in a stew tonight. Were there a lot where you found them?
no subject
( Even if he gets a little puffy over Bakugo not directly complimenting him, he decides to let it slide without comment, huffing. This close, it's easier to glance Bakugo over, to check on how that arm is doing— even if he's not sure how the injury happened, he just wants to make sure he's okay. )
Mm, I gathered a little less than half of what was there, for these mushrooms. The ones who hadn't already lost their spores, I shook them out a bit to scatter them further. But I'd leave the rest for now.
( Because he wants them to grow back, even if they're only here temporarily. His fingers move to the next section, to some of the herbs. Sage, parsley, thyme, rosemary, some chives... )
Some of these were more plentiful than others. The sage, for example... I took a modest amount of each, but left plenty behind.
( Satisfied with that, he pulls his hand back, tilting his head at Bakugo. )
...Can I stay with you tonight?
no subject
Esikko... when the hell has Bakugo ever been a complimenting person? As for his arm, nothing seems to be wrong with it now, though he's wearing long sleeves so there's no visibility to his limb. His hands and fingers move without problem, arm pumping and flexing when he took the sacks offered. Whatever had been messed up seems to have healed. But the next time he sees Bakugo with his right arm bare, he'll get to see what the issue was... is.]
They'll probably grow fast. [The Vale's pretty damn lush even in the approaching autumn chill. He wouldn't be surprised to find mushrooms and new plants sprouting already tomorrow. Esikko's conscious of propagating more resources. Smart. Thank fuck someone finally found some decent herbs. Now the meat he's cooking won't be so damn bland. Setting the packs of herds and collections down, making sure they're not atop each other, he returns to his stitching.]
You remember where you found them; we can go back tomorrow and check. [Won't need to take any, but he'd like to know. He searched for some already and didn't find shit. Dammit! What does Esikko know he doesn't. Tch, he wanted to find them first.]
Hm? [Stay with him.] Aa. Dunno how long we're gonna be stuck on this stupid camping trip.
no subject
But, the agreement to let him stay earns a small smile, and the thought of foraging again tomorrow reminds him of part of what he wanted to talk about. )
Right. No idea how long, and yet the tent they provided me with they booked with that dog again. ( He wishes he didn't have to mention him, but. He's not really been in any tents so far because of it... )
And, there was something else I found in the forest I thought I should tell you about. Did you run into a cave, by any chance?
no subject
His arms flex beneath the long-sleeve shirt, a turtleneck-style piece without the turtleneck. Hands move in a deft pattern as he sews. While he's no expert seamstress, he's far more than adequate, closing the tear slowly with each punctual pierce and draw. The patch will hold strong enough, the hole beneath it closed up good and tight. As he nears the end, he passes the needle through the end of his stitching and knots off the entire thing with a final firm tug. Then clips it with a small knife.]
If he's pissing at you, I'll kill him. [The words come quiet and flat, not at all hesitating. Bakugo's never been shy to say he'll kill someone or to tell another person to die for pestering him. Most people who know him to any degree know he doesn't mean either of those seriously.
Yet there's something about his tone right now which makes his usual "bluff" sound oddly... not so bluffing. Like it or not, the hero's been stained by the resort, and it's not going to go away any time soon.]
Huh? [He glances at Esikko as he lifts the tent flap and gives the patched part a few light tests with his hands. Strong once more. Perhaps even stronger now.] No. What'd you find?
no subject
He really, really wants to see about looking into the reason behind that change of his. Maybe it would help, to feel more in control if it happened again, or if he knew why it did in the first place.
But he knows how Bakugo is about accepting help from others, and he knows how fresh that wound is in the first place. So he just leans back against this tree near the tent, arms crossing loosely in front of himself as his eyes trace the work of his tent repair. )
...An eye, of some sort. ( He breathes out a little, picking his words carefully. ) When someone makes eye contact with it, it freezes them in place until someone else can force it to blink, or shut. During that time, the person frozen will feel...
( Another pause, another careful choosing of words. He was definitely the one stuck, in this case, but he doesn't want that to be the focus point, here. ) Afraid, like they've been abandoned, until they're freed again.
I didn't stay around long enough to look into it further, since I wasn't looking for trouble. But my gut feeling is that it may be a part of the House itself, like that heart.
no subject
Bakugo pushes himself up from his place, momentarily dusting his back with his free hand, other making sure to keep his tent piece from dragging on the ground. Needles and thread in his pocket, he heads for his lodging and begins working to affix the flap on its track once more. Sliding it over the frame and zipping it secure into place. Next person to put a hole in his tent is gonna be fixing it with their fucking teeth!]
An eye? [He finishes his task and returns to the satchels Esikko brought, scooping them from the ground with an easy motion. A tilt of his head silently invites Esikko into the tent, because Bakugo's heading inside to store the prince's tokens properly. An eye in the cave, paralyzing anyone who looks at it until it blinks... And he's not going into the feeling detail. Has to be something negative.]
Che. As if. That fucking bird didn't give anyone half a second to react when we reached the heart. If you say its eye, you wouldn't have a chance to get frozen either. [The house would defend itself instantly, just like the vicious crackback Esikko got when he plucked at its veins.] It's probably some shitty monster the House created for the fuck of it. Stay away from the cave.
no subject
( With the tilt of Bakugo's head, Esikko stands and walks after him, offering one last glance back at the surrounding bit of camp before he ducks inside. A monster. It's possible, he thinks— any of it could be possible. The House itself would likely give enough of an impression that he wouldn't have to take the time to focus to get the feel of it. So maybe Bakugo's right.
But Esikko can't help but wonder if it might relate to one of the suits. He'd have had to focus on it to know for sure, and he certainly didn't have the time or ability while stuck. Maybe it's the intense feeling that has him so caught up on this, the idea that it's not just some random monster— it felt so personal. It felt so real, like his own, until suddenly it wasn't. )
Obviously I'm going to stay away from it...
( It's mumbled a little, like he's offended at Bakugo's instruction, like he's being scolded. But honestly, it's a fair warning for him, considering how much he gets into trouble, and how much he digs for information. Even now, it feels wrong just ignoring it... But he's not about to stick his neck out after everything that just happened, and with the House paying attention to him, still.
He frowns, eyes trailing after Bakugo inside the tent, and feet trailing after him just the same. He lingers a few feet back, but doesn't feel comfortable to just go settle down somewhere, instead sort of seeming like he's... waiting for something, or looking for a chance at something. )
I just thought I'd get your opinion on it. ( Even if he's semi-awkwardly lingering and following, here, he takes the moment to let his eyes scan around the tent. He's nosy, he's curious to see if it looks like Bakugo has been alone or with others, what sort of set up he has, and so on... )
Some of the herbs are nearby the cave, but it's easy enough to avoid.
no subject
Bakugo won't argue the monster can feel personal. This place has instigated mental and emotional attacks during its shitty events, all of which feel more personal than a physical assault. But he simply doesn't trust the peacock would leave anything vulnerable so close to people who wouldn't hesitate to injure it.
Look, don't get offended he's being told to stay away from it when Esikko has a goddamn track record of ignoring sound advice and going back to shit he should stay away from! Bakugo was even one of those sound advice givers who go ignored! SO DAMN RIGHT HE'S TELLING HIM NOT TO GO BACK! Brat.
The inside of the tent is spacious and well-tended to. A small kitchenette, appliances, sturdy make and framed, even a little shower area in the back (it's outside, but has inside access). Four beds and bunks line either side of the tent's from half, covered with blankets and sleeping rolls. He could fit eight people in here (two a bed) without issue, and more on the floor as needed. Like any other place Bakugo's given to care for, the entire place is spotless and neat, bed made and shit put away. Hard to tell if he's with someone, but likely he's had a few people spend the night since he's not as heartless as he makes himself out to be. But they all have to work for their lodging and meals.
He sets the satchels on the small counter and gets to work parsing them and washing them to be put away or dried, depending. ] I'll go with you next time and see what else is around there.
[Gonna avoid going into the cave, obviously.] You want something to drink? I've got tea and water.
no subject
( After a hum of agreement about revisiting it together. And, perhaps because it's plants, or perhaps because it's Bakugo (or maybe even because it's both), Esikko does something a little unlike him and actually moves over to help Bakugo with the prep. He's well aware of which ones you'd want dried, which ones cleaned, and how to do it, so he doesn't mind helping.
But after a brief pause of silence, he speaks again. )
There's something else I've noticed, though. My sleep has been even worse than usual since I revived...
( He trails off, pausing as he flicks water from his hand and whatever he's just cleared of dirt, eyes focused down on it. )
It may end up troubling your sleep, too, if I'm unlucky. It's been especially bad out here, for some reason.
( Because he's feeling lonely. Not that he knows that's the cause. )
no subject
Haa? Why the hell would it affect my sleep? [He strips a leaf from around its central stem vein and sets the two aside in different locations.] If you start thrashing, I'll tie you up like a fucking bagworm.
[Don't think he won't. He's done the same to two other people here for similar reasons, effective and without regret. Better than getting an elbow to the ribs or a knee in his leg. No one's gonna interrupt his sleep.]
no subject
Anything past that? No good. At least he's not going to try to bother with anything more than this. He feels like he has to, to earn a spot here. )
Nothing like that. I generally struggle with sleeping, but it's been worse lately. I've been falling asleep so suddenly, and out of nowhere, like even in the middle of doing something.
It happened around the campfire, and each time I'd have this strange, elaborate dream that started as a memory... But it seemed that people from the resort would show up in it? ( He frowns a little, focusing more. )
I confirmed in the woods when it happened again that something is causing my dreams to pull others into them. And that's only if I can sleep in the first place— if it's not that, then I'm laying awake all night with horribly antsy thoughts about...
( He pauses, trying to think of how to word it. But no matter what, it feels too embarrassing. Ugh. )
Well, it feels like my mind races so much that sleep isn't an option.
no subject
Bakugo pulls a small container from the cupboard. Normally he'd keep the herbs separated by type, but without such a luxury here, they all go in the same proverbial pot. Mushrooms get their own container for the same reason.]
So you've got narcolepsy now? [If it's not one thing, it's another with Esikko. Like some god up in space has personal fun making his life as shitty as possible for no damn reason. He caps the two containers, listening to his tale expand while he puts the items away in the small fridge. Currently stuffed almost to the brim with cooked meat. Deer, rabbit, quail, fish.]
Does anything else happen besides fucking up your sleep? [No wounds appearing on the real body after an injury in the dream, for example.]
no subject
( Esikko replies softly, pulling back to just watching when it's finally time to store everything away. His eyes trace Bakugo's hands as he tucks things away in his fridge, thinking. )
It's just, either I can sleep but I can't choose when and I trouble people nearby with things that have nothing to do with them, or I can't sleep because my mind is racing with these... stupid lovey thoughts. It's embarrassing. I don't know how to relieve it.
( He's frustrated, but it's nothing actually dangerous. If anything, he's just wanting to warn Bakugo in case he gets sucked into a shitty dream, or a nightmare about the garage again, or if he gets so love manic that he says something stupid. He doesn't know.
No, he does know; he doesn't want to be more of a burden than he already has been, but he doesn't want to be alone, either. )
Maybe I'll try a potion, to sleep without dreams.
no subject
Haa? Stupid lovey thoughts? [Bakugo stares at him over his shoulder, face twisted up in a bastard child between fucking annoyed and wanting to laugh. That sounds so damn stupid! And annoying simultaneously. No wonder Esikko's embarrassed. He finally slots the container into the fridge, then works on figuring where the mushrooms go.]
Tch, probably the same way you relieve anything else in this shithole. [Fucking. At the very least Esikko's not endangering himself or others. Only bothering them, himself included. If he thinks that's enough for Bakugo to kick him out, he sorely underestimates the blonde's forced tolerance. His classmates back in school were as irksome.]
You haven't used one already? [Esikko's always had trouble sleeping.]
no subject
( He knows Bakugo isn't laughing, but he sees that twitch up of his lips, and he's already struggling enough as it is to admit this! Ugh, he wants to crawl into a hole. But he crosses his arms to help with the feeling of it all, frowning off in some other direction. )
No, not to specifically block dreams. I didn't realize that was something that was going to happen until this camping thing began, and now I don't have access to all of my materials.
( All of his blood deserves, fur, lizard tail, plants not found here in the forest, and so on. )
I don't know if it would even work, considering how the House pushes things on us... But I do intend to try. ( Can blocking dreams work if the House is using magic too? He's ready to try, but he's not sure. ) It's like it wants me to feel as alone as possible, though. It's...
( Painful, frustrating, pathetic... )
Irritating.
no subject
You said you can create plants from your memory. [How else could Esikko have brought plants from his world into this one. Bakugo starts rummaging in the fridge, clearing out a space for the mushrooms while having to compress the meat in exchange. Bah. Can't stuff too much more in here. That's what he gets for carving up two bucks, five quail, and three rabbits, with he forgot how many fish. Then again, he's feeding five people, himself included.]
What can you use from this forest? [The Vale has a massive amount of foliage and there's a greenhouse in here as well. He used to train with Akira for aerial combat in there.]
Haa? What the hell? That's completely opposite what this shithole does! [Wanting someone to feel alone goes directly against the entire place's operation! The house encourages its guests to get together, form bonds, fuck. Someone all alone won't do any of that, defeating the entire purpose of bringing them here in the first place.]
no subject
( He sighs, a little defeated, and shifts his weight to one leg, drawing the other one back in a small step. Just little fidgets, as he thinks. )
I can make any plant, yes, but accelerating their growth is even more energy... I suppose I just wasn't sure if it was worth it. ( Force all the ingredients to make a potential solution right now, when it's possible it might not work? Or wait it out for when they're back and he has access to the things he's left in Bakugo's suite? )
Everything growing in the Vale has its uses, so I can make something out of anything. I would really only need a couple of key ingredients, then my blood, something to boil them all together...
( He's a little worried, though he won't admit it, that it will only make everything worse. That's been the main thing holding him back— the risk with no one to lean on. )
...Anyway, it makes me feel lonely specifically with the idea that I'll seek out others, right? It's not against things. ( His eyes avoid Bakugo here, flicking to the floor. ) How's your suit mark doing? Perhaps fighting it with something fun would be just as good.
no subject
If you wear yourself out making that crap, you'll be too tired to dream. [And if those dreams wake him up, the hard truth is, human bodies can only run so long before they simply shut down. To hell with the brain's activity. Eventually Esikko will sleep regardless of the Peacock's attempts to keep him awake. Exhausting himself to make something that'll let him sleep is essentially a middle finger win-win.]
Can you track narcoleptic plants? [Lavender, jasmine, valerian, chamomile, gardenia, to name a few, before getting into opioids and other analgesic and anesthetic plants. Then again, the latter ones are more "drug" reaction than sleep inducers. Unless Esikko wants to concentrate and binge on them. That'll knock him out cold.]
Like hell it isn't! It's inflicting you with shit that interferes with getting close to people! [Who's gonna want to sleep with someone who robs them of their sleep, or shows them weird memories out of nowhere, or ingratiates himself with off-putting "lovey thoughts" he can't control? Everyone has character quirks, but incessant pestering isn't gonna make Esikko popular with people, dammit! It'll only drive them away. Hence going against what the House wants!]
no subject
Are you going to push me away because of these things?
( Just as soon as he's said it, though, he feels it's unfair to ask. It's not like Bakugo owes him the time, doesn't owe him the friendship. Why should he inconvenience himself just to stay close by? So he pushes away from where he's leaning, uncrossing his arms and folding them behind his back, instead. Maybe the House hates him, and wants him to struggle? But why keep him here, then? There must be some key that aligns it to what it wants. )
Mm, I mean... Let's just see how bad it gets, I suppose. Maybe I've just been sleeping poorly because I was on my own?
( He doesn't know that these "dreams" have a trigger of loneliness, and his "love mania" can be ignored, if it even does come up— what he does know is that both aren't consistent, and that Bakugo's first comment has a point. )
Or maybe because I haven't been working hard enough, like you said. I can find plants that encourage sleep, yes, and for those I can't find, I could make them. They're the basis of any potion I'd have for sleep, anyway.

[If Esikko has so little faith in him after everything, he's even gonna put that shitty query to his lips, then he needs to check himself for his weak trust in people he says he's friends with. Bakugo can point out the utter jacked-up unfairness of the hotel's treatment of a single person compared to almost everyone else in the fucking resort, without funneling himself into Esikko's pessimistic outlook. It doesn't make sense for the hotel to sabotage itself with one of its guests.]
Aa. [If he was gonna turn the guy out, he never would've made it into his tent. Does Esikko think he's a nice enough person to waste his time or energy on someone he doesn't see any value in? Bakugo crosses the tent to another cabinet and pulls a lantern from the storage space. He affixes it to a hook near the top of the tent (requiring a strong jump and small explosion to reach) before landing on his feet again. Preparation for the night.] Most people are shacking up with someone out here.
[Apart from people who don't know anyone and/or are too proud to go asking for shelter from one of the larger campsites. Whatever Esikko is dealing with, Bakugo determines to crush it one way or another instead of letting the house win.]
We've got three more hours of light. [He rolls his shoulder a few times, neck cracking with a tilt or two. If Esikko can bot find the plants and create them, the next step's pretty fucking clear.] Get moving.

Ugh. He shakes the thoughts free and huffs out a breath, moving past that to head out of the tent with Bakugo. )
The one that has the best bet of being in an area like this is valerian. I could likely gather plenty of that as a base, then create some lavender from my blood... But if light is going to leave us soon, then let's focus on the valerian, for now.
( Outside of the tent, as Esikko heads towards the trees, he stays close to Bakugo, even as he leads, seeming to already have an idea about the direction to head in. This place is artificial in every way, but plants still have preferences, and he can use his knowledge to observe how the trees are going, the types of trees and shrubs, and triangulate an area with ease. His special talent is just plants... )
...Have you had anyone staying with you, out here? Some friends, maybe?
