【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
We are thrilled to announce that the Golden Peacock will be embracing autumn with a special outing. Current and new guests are invited to join us for a refreshing outdoor experience where participants can unplug, unwind, and connect with nature. During this time, all Watches will be disabled to the most basic functions (texting, calls, checking chip account) in order to encourage guests to disconnect.
Please look forward to two weeks of finding yourself amongst the trees. We hope you enjoy your stay, and have a fan-CAMP-stic time. 】

CAMPING
GETTING OFF THE GRID
As the resort moves into what it claims is autumn, the days grow shorter. The projected sun in the Vale sets in the afternoon, after which a faint chill falls. Then there’s the most excessive transformation of all – a portion of the Vale has transformed into a campground complete with a scenic lake, seemingly overnight. Statues nearby have been dressed up with flannel jackets and suspenders. Folksy banjo fills the air without any discernible source.
A section of the campgrounds have been reserved for tents. These tents vary in size, shape, and supplies. All tents, regardless of quality, are supplied with sex toys and lube. Staff and long-standing guests all agree — pretending to live in the wilderness and 'rough it' for a while is thrilling. This is what the peasants feel like all the time!

HOME ON THE RANGE
Welcome to the Peacock Campgrounds! Nicknamed the Stomping Grounds by long-standing guests. Rustic and right off a sparkling lake, guests will find everything they need to live in the wilderness. Staff have expertly set up fire pits, benches, hammocks, and a wooden shed to act as a tool depository. There's even an outhouse, which is a real novelty to many of the long-standing guests. Do they just... squat over that hole and do their business? How wild!
Unlike previous resort-sponsored excursions, guests are expected to manage without the help of staff. That pile of wood won't be replenished once used; guests will have to go chop down trees and split their own. Food won't magically appear in their tents regardless of rank. Camping is all about living off the land. Though staff make themselves scarce to make the experience feel real, they lurk in the shadows, discreetly providing necessary tools and fixing broken equipment so guests won't struggle too much. It isn't fun if it's real hardship, after all!

ACTIVITIES
TWO WEEKS OF ROUGHING IT
Camping can't be all about survival. Where's the fun in that? Before 'leaving', the staff arrange activities and events for guests to enjoy. A wooden bulletin board outlines times for group hikes, camping experiences, and wilderness delights. Adirondack chairs line the edge of the lake and a few tire swings hang over the water, tied to strong tree branches. For the first week and a half the weather is pleasant and sunny. Perfect for camping.
At night, acoustic guitars and other wooden instruments come out so that guests can make music around the bonfire. Projected stars dapple the night sky, forming various constellations sourced from guest worlds. The moon enters a different phase each night, shining a gentle silver across the campgrounds. Why not pull your sweetheart in and cuddle beneath the night sky? It's so romantic.

HOWLING
CALL OF THE WILD
Temperatures drop drastically at night as the camping excursion nears its end. Nights become so chilly that morning dew frosts over, crunching beneath guest feet. Every day the light and its warmth set a little bit earlier. Staff remain elusive and do not provide warmer blankets or clothes for guests, leaving them to cuddle for warmth or find other ways to sleep comfortably during nightly cold snaps.
The moon hits its apex on the final night of camping. Unlike the other nights, this full moon shines blood red. The Vale stills under this ominous sign, silent. Snowflakes begins to fall, spreading an endless clean sheet across the campgrounds. That reflected pink hue is inescapable.

You said you can create plants from your memory. [How else could Esikko have brought plants from his world into this one. Bakugo starts rummaging in the fridge, clearing out a space for the mushrooms while having to compress the meat in exchange. Bah. Can't stuff too much more in here. That's what he gets for carving up two bucks, five quail, and three rabbits, with he forgot how many fish. Then again, he's feeding five people, himself included.]
What can you use from this forest? [The Vale has a massive amount of foliage and there's a greenhouse in here as well. He used to train with Akira for aerial combat in there.]
Haa? What the hell? That's completely opposite what this shithole does! [Wanting someone to feel alone goes directly against the entire place's operation! The house encourages its guests to get together, form bonds, fuck. Someone all alone won't do any of that, defeating the entire purpose of bringing them here in the first place.]
no subject
( He sighs, a little defeated, and shifts his weight to one leg, drawing the other one back in a small step. Just little fidgets, as he thinks. )
I can make any plant, yes, but accelerating their growth is even more energy... I suppose I just wasn't sure if it was worth it. ( Force all the ingredients to make a potential solution right now, when it's possible it might not work? Or wait it out for when they're back and he has access to the things he's left in Bakugo's suite? )
Everything growing in the Vale has its uses, so I can make something out of anything. I would really only need a couple of key ingredients, then my blood, something to boil them all together...
( He's a little worried, though he won't admit it, that it will only make everything worse. That's been the main thing holding him back— the risk with no one to lean on. )
...Anyway, it makes me feel lonely specifically with the idea that I'll seek out others, right? It's not against things. ( His eyes avoid Bakugo here, flicking to the floor. ) How's your suit mark doing? Perhaps fighting it with something fun would be just as good.
no subject
If you wear yourself out making that crap, you'll be too tired to dream. [And if those dreams wake him up, the hard truth is, human bodies can only run so long before they simply shut down. To hell with the brain's activity. Eventually Esikko will sleep regardless of the Peacock's attempts to keep him awake. Exhausting himself to make something that'll let him sleep is essentially a middle finger win-win.]
Can you track narcoleptic plants? [Lavender, jasmine, valerian, chamomile, gardenia, to name a few, before getting into opioids and other analgesic and anesthetic plants. Then again, the latter ones are more "drug" reaction than sleep inducers. Unless Esikko wants to concentrate and binge on them. That'll knock him out cold.]
Like hell it isn't! It's inflicting you with shit that interferes with getting close to people! [Who's gonna want to sleep with someone who robs them of their sleep, or shows them weird memories out of nowhere, or ingratiates himself with off-putting "lovey thoughts" he can't control? Everyone has character quirks, but incessant pestering isn't gonna make Esikko popular with people, dammit! It'll only drive them away. Hence going against what the House wants!]
no subject
Are you going to push me away because of these things?
( Just as soon as he's said it, though, he feels it's unfair to ask. It's not like Bakugo owes him the time, doesn't owe him the friendship. Why should he inconvenience himself just to stay close by? So he pushes away from where he's leaning, uncrossing his arms and folding them behind his back, instead. Maybe the House hates him, and wants him to struggle? But why keep him here, then? There must be some key that aligns it to what it wants. )
Mm, I mean... Let's just see how bad it gets, I suppose. Maybe I've just been sleeping poorly because I was on my own?
( He doesn't know that these "dreams" have a trigger of loneliness, and his "love mania" can be ignored, if it even does come up— what he does know is that both aren't consistent, and that Bakugo's first comment has a point. )
Or maybe because I haven't been working hard enough, like you said. I can find plants that encourage sleep, yes, and for those I can't find, I could make them. They're the basis of any potion I'd have for sleep, anyway.
no subject
[If Esikko has so little faith in him after everything, he's even gonna put that shitty query to his lips, then he needs to check himself for his weak trust in people he says he's friends with. Bakugo can point out the utter jacked-up unfairness of the hotel's treatment of a single person compared to almost everyone else in the fucking resort, without funneling himself into Esikko's pessimistic outlook. It doesn't make sense for the hotel to sabotage itself with one of its guests.]
Aa. [If he was gonna turn the guy out, he never would've made it into his tent. Does Esikko think he's a nice enough person to waste his time or energy on someone he doesn't see any value in? Bakugo crosses the tent to another cabinet and pulls a lantern from the storage space. He affixes it to a hook near the top of the tent (requiring a strong jump and small explosion to reach) before landing on his feet again. Preparation for the night.] Most people are shacking up with someone out here.
[Apart from people who don't know anyone and/or are too proud to go asking for shelter from one of the larger campsites. Whatever Esikko is dealing with, Bakugo determines to crush it one way or another instead of letting the house win.]
We've got three more hours of light. [He rolls his shoulder a few times, neck cracking with a tilt or two. If Esikko can bot find the plants and create them, the next step's pretty fucking clear.] Get moving.
no subject
Ugh. He shakes the thoughts free and huffs out a breath, moving past that to head out of the tent with Bakugo. )
The one that has the best bet of being in an area like this is valerian. I could likely gather plenty of that as a base, then create some lavender from my blood... But if light is going to leave us soon, then let's focus on the valerian, for now.
( Outside of the tent, as Esikko heads towards the trees, he stays close to Bakugo, even as he leads, seeming to already have an idea about the direction to head in. This place is artificial in every way, but plants still have preferences, and he can use his knowledge to observe how the trees are going, the types of trees and shrubs, and triangulate an area with ease. His special talent is just plants... )
...Have you had anyone staying with you, out here? Some friends, maybe?
no subject
Bakugo zips his tent up behind him and locks the zipper again. Little more than a formality feel good at this point. Better than leaving it wide open for anyone to walk in and help themselves.]
We've got three hours. [That's not entirely "soon" in his opinion. Leaves crunch underfoot as he heads into the woods opposite his campsite. The lake further to the side glitters between trunks of varying lights and darks, some brown and some gray amid the mix of green leaves and shades of fall hues.
While he can lead them into the forest, Esikko's going to need to direct him towards the patches he found earlier. He expects him to do so as he slides down a small embankment and waits for the other man to follow. Artificial, yeah, but it tries to behave like nature most of the time. Che. "Just plants" as a special talent is more useful than Esikko gives credit for.]
A few new extras paid for the shelter. [They helped him hunt so he cooked with them and let them stay the night or two.]
no subject
Mapping out his memory and understanding of the forest, he gestures once he's next to Bakugo, indicating the direction they should head first. )
Good. ( Extras... Esikko can't help the small smile that plays at his lips for that word, using the motion of him adjusting his own hoodie to try and obscure it a little. It's just cute, he thinks, that Bakugo calls people that. He remembers it from their first meeting, too— and he knows, by now, that despite the way that he speaks, he's always helpful and kind enough to be making friends. So maybe at least one of those people would be. )
I feel like I owe you for a little more than just shelter here, though... ( Since Bakugo has let him stay in his room in between his stays at other's. He presses his fingertips together, ignoring the way his zip-up hoodie slides right back down one shoulder, and leans forward a little in his steps, peering at Bakugo. ) So, aside from finding plants and helping point them out, is there more I could do to help you here?
no subject
Unfortunately he learned a while ago marking trees as a hiking guide is pointless in the Vale. They repair themselves too quickly. Same with the ground, so he can't simply blast a divot in the floor and hope to follow blackened craters back to the camp. It's fine. He can easily clear the trees. As in flight, not bomb razing a path back out.
It's nice to see Esikko out and about again. Far too much bad shit goes on in his life. A breath of calm and fresh air in his existence feels like a damn relief. Not just for Esikko, but for Bakugo as well. Knowing Esikko doesn't have to return to a tent he hates tonight, knowing he's able to help someone despite the horrible thing he did in the past... Aa, guilt and doubt remain, they always will, but the only way to combat them is to step forward one after another and prove to himself he's able.]
Huh? [Bakugo glances to the side, one foot blindly knocking a rock from the path before Esikko has to bother with it. While he listens to the other man, his ears strain for other noises in the woods, from animals to other guests to potential threats. Tch, he really is gonna keep racking himself up some kind of debt even though Bakugo's already said it was fine.] You're gonna be doing your share of the chores when we get back, ya know.
[Unless Esikko has a way of ripping the dimension open and letting everyone back into the hotel, what he's doing now is paying for what Bakugo's giving him.
And if he's trying to flirt... try harder. Bakugo can be thick.]
no subject
( There's a long moment where Esikko just stares into the side of Bakugo's head as he contemplates how thick he is, but he glances away whenever Bakugo happens to look back, innocently twirling a strand of his hair, eyes traveling the path in front of them as they move. )
But you seem a bit tense. You always do, but—
( Here, he stretches in his steps forward to lean near one of the trees closest to the path, indicating where he's harvested some oyster mushrooms. Clean cuts along the tree itself, the only ones remaining are ones not fully mature yet, that he has left on purpose. There are at least half as many more spots where it's clear he's twisted off the mature ones. )
—you know, you've been working hard. So, don't you want to relax a little? A massage, maybe? ( Is he getting it yet. )
no subject
Haa?! I'm not tense! I'm always relaxed and calm! [Rawr! Why the hell do people say he's tense all the time?! Some people aren't gonna walk around loose and floppy without a care in the world!
When Esikko indicates the tree, Bakugo crouches beside it, checking the cuts and noting younger growths have been left. No surprise. This guy's well off on plant knowledge. A glance around shows more areas, and other trees, where Esikko's harvested. Tch. Can he mark this space? Felling a tree would repair itself by morning. Blasting a hole likewise too...
Don't have any paper or pen either, dammit.
Red eyes flick towards Esikko once more, narrowing slightly as the man's tone dips. Oh, is that what he's getting at? WHILE THEY'RE ON A FORAGING HUNT?! But he gets a cheeky grin regardless.]
Che! You couldn't get through a full massage with me if you tried.
no subject
Your voice alone just scared the birds out of every tree in the area, you know?
( Is he exaggerating or telling the truth here, honestly who knows. But he laughs again, this one a little more like his softer (but genuine) laugh, and allows his palm to drop away from the tree he's been showing, turning back to Bakugo. )
And, what is that supposed to mean, hmm? Are you trying to say it would turn into more? You know, if my hands distract you like that, it can't be helped.
( Teasing and flirting again is fun, and it's a much needed break after all of the weird narcolepsy and insane dreams. He's already had dreams with both Toma and Chobe invading them, so he's hardly relaxed right now himself...
But, being in Bakugo's company does always seem to help with that. He turns to move further down the path, hoping Bakugo will follow along with him easily enough, because he has no problem tracking back to this tree. And maybe it's nice, to feel a little useful, to feel needed in some way. He's not spilling his mushroom secrets. Not yet, anyway. )
no subject
Bakugo pushes himself to standing once more and stretches his arms overhead, fingers curling and shuddering at the tips from a momentary strain. Feel good warm bleeds down his forearms and biceps. Esikko's not gonna be laughing when he finds his shirt sleeve crammed in his mouth.]
Means exactly what I said. [He rocks his head on his shoulders, limbering up.] I know you'd get too distracted to finish. [Sounding so cocky and confident when he says it too. Keep this up and he'll start thinking Esikko's gunning for some fun in the woods instead of searching for their harvest spots.] Don't think for a second you're topping this time.
[Cause it's gonna happen tonight. Calling it now. Bakugo alights on a tree trunk and pushes off, bouncing from rock to rock along the path side like some kid playing during a hike.]
no subject
Are you underestimating me? ( Okay, so maybe his focus wouldn't make it through a whole massage. He'll give him that. But he laughs a little at the topping comment, head tilting. )
Whaaaat, I can't? But you seemed so into it the last time, you know? Is it because I said too much in front of Dodger? You know, I just wanted to see you puff up a little. You can't blame me for that.
no subject
As if! I've been with you enough to know.
[Esikko can get distracted by sex and attention. Sticking around long enough to go through an entire massage over someone he likes while said someone's butt naked and responding to his touches? Yeah right, Bakugo has every doubt the prince would make it from head to toe in a proper service. Not some shitty five minute rub down. He's talking a full massage.]
Urusei! [Bristling at the reminder.] There's a reason I plugged your damn mouth!
[Esikko liked it too. He definitely got to see the blonde puff up and snarl at him. Mission accomplished.]
no subject
Basic questions he doesn't understand. It's nice, if a little distracting, because he is kind of thinking of having some fun in the woods now...But he should probably focus a little, so he turns them down one of the branching paths that heads more towards the lake. )
Well, I wouldn't mind if you did that again, either. ♪
( Flirting more, of course, though really at this point everything he says is such. He walks along, eyes trailing the trees like he's scanning each of them for something, or remembering— he's still on the trail for herbs. )
I just thought, you know, maybe you'd like someone to appreciate those muscles of yours. ( Or maybe that's just what he'd like. ) Hehe, but really, I could even use magic to make my hands nice and warm~. ( He just assumes that would make it more desirable than leaving his hands as they are... )
no subject
Hmph. I'll keep that in mind. [Tone suggesting he's gonna do more than mind it tonight. Bakugo slips his hands into his pockets-- default position --and scans the area, still wary about what Esikko said regarding cave monsters. Just because they lurked in depths doesn't mean they won't come out into the light for close-ranging prey.]
Go for it. You're still gonna fail and I'm gonna rail you into the bed. [He sounds so smug about it despite his body posture radiating a warning delinquent sort to ward any prying eyes off, man or beast. Massages are rare. He usually does them himself after workouts and training sessions. Having someone else do one sounds amazing.] How's your magic stores?
[Since he salvaged a lot of Esikko's plants, all his notebooks and tomes, as much as he could of the prince's magical "warehouse", Esikko didn't have to start from scratch. After what they talked about in his room, improving the prince's magical spells and stockpiling them, there's a lot the guy could work on.]
no subject
Not bad, thanks to you. Most of what I have is in your suite, though I do have some more blood and rabbit fur at Dabi's. The rooftop gardens... I had some things growing that managed fine, and others that I had to restart after my absence.
But for the most part, I have supplies.
( In the resort proper, anyway. Here, where the trees of the forest space out a bit more to allow more sunlight in, he points out a patch of herbs— rosemary, from the looks of it? An odd place for it, but the Vale here has a lot of barely-sensible environment shifts, and it's enough that Esikko was able to locate it. )
My health isn't bad, either, despite my sleep issues. I haven't forgotten our plans, you know? So I'm working on it, of course, and my stamina is holding up well.
no subject
Che, "rooftop" bullshit. [As if this place has a roof; it's only a ceiling. Good to know Esikko has things in the Vale and other garden areas. He wasn't dumb enough to put all his stores in one area alone. Without having to restart from the very beginning, at least there was salvageable material.]
What was your timeline when they brought you back? A few months before your usual reset or closer to it? [He doesn't recall if Esikko said he ever reached old age in any of his lives, or if he always ended up dying young. But he mentioned a few times his body was ready to give out soon despite the House wanting most of its victims healthy.]
no subject
I'm already past the age I normally manage to live to.
( A little quiet, but there's an energy behind it like he's trying to sound lighter about it than he actually feels. He's been nervous, of course, that his health could dip at any moment, and winter is always worse. He's preparing a lot of his plants with the idea of winter in mind... )
The oldest I've ever been is 24, and I only managed it once. I'm 21 now. My body seems to get worse each reset, but at the same time...
Well, I've been managing better than usual here, overall.
no subject
Aa. This place isn't gonna let you start over as a baby and grow up. [And apparently it has enough logical sense not to make Esikkos kick the fucking bucket every other month cause of his curse. Many illnesses and wounds are healed when people arrive, some scars handled, chronic issues taken care of in exchange for a new freedom to fuck. Sick.]
No shit. It wants you fuckable, not drooping every eight weeks. [He would've died more than six times by now in one year alone. Bakugo turns to the path again, toeing a small stone from the leaves with his boot and kicking it to the side.] Piece of crap.
no subject
( Esikko's own hand traces over the pink-purple blooms of the rosemary, watching as the flowers seem to almost lean into his touch. Probably a trick of the eye, as he's moving on just as quickly, following along Bakugo, watching the rocks he kicks. )
That resetting spell. I don't know how that would look yet, but...
( Something pauses the words in his throat, his lips press together for a moment, and his eyes trail to the back of Bakugo's head. It's only for a short few seconds, and then he's back to the trees, to the shrubs, between it all, looking. His words are difficult to get out, like he's thinking carefully about how to say each one, extra aware, a little afraid of rejection of his ideas. )
I meant what I said, when I woke up. I like what I've found, here. Even if I manage to unlock a way home fully, and you all wander off without me, I thought I'd just follow along and make my own space.
no subject
He drops over a chunked section of the path, braces easily, and shoves a stone behind him with his foot so Esikko has a step down instead of having to drop two feet. Yeah, he didn't forget what the man said when he woke up. A life he wanted to live fully.] So what happens if you break it? Am I still gonna be scooping roots and leaves out of your ribs ever two months? Do you keep your magic?
no subject
( He steps carefully down onto the provided stone, then back onto the lower path proper, a quiet bow of his head acting as thanks as he moves. The trees are getting a little thicker, providing more shade, and so even if Esikko hasn't shown Bakugo all of the spots of the herbs he's located, he's shifting to look for valerian now. The closer they get to water, the more he expects to find it, along their pathway, in easy reach. )
So, I don't know for certain how I'd do it, or what might happen. But it's certainly possible, I have no doubt I could figure it out. ( He fidgets with his hands a little, adjusting the sleeves of his hoodie, gripping at his own wrists like they're sore or tense. )
I can't undo what I've done, or remove that debt. So what I assume is that it won't change a thing. It's... possible, even, I suppose, that by removing the amount of energy I have spent on such a powerful spell, I may even lessen the impact of the curse on me.
Magic won't be an issue. I'll have access to it, as always, and I may even have more stamina for it.
( So... it sounds better overall, huh? That's how he's thinking of it, anyway. )
As for what risks I have, I've been considering it, and I think it's possible I may deal with a temporary sort of pain, or intensity, or memory flooding. But I can't imagine anything lasting.
no subject
[But all those lifetimes were lived in the same world, same planet, same circumstances. As much as Esikko wanted to find the best life for himself, he fucked it up from the start by locking himself in a world which wouldn't change. Was he born on the same day each time? The same year? The same era? Living the same life over and over again sounds like a foolish endeavor.
Bakugo tilts his head to the side, avoiding a leaf fluttering into his face. He keeps their path clear of stray rocks, sticks, or branches, though makes not of anything he sees which he might want to return to later.]
I guess most magic spell books don't provide the counter spell for their contents.
[He'll encourage Esikko, but reality doesn't seem supportive. Esikko's lived many lives and still hasn't come up with a way to break the curse. Now he's banking finding a way on his "last" life, set in a world which isn't his own. The peacock won't let the curse claim his life either.]
So you don't think there's a way to break the curse?
