Yaaassss sLay all day!
JOB POSTING ONE! BIG PAYOUT FOR EASY WORK!
I am a pharmacist looking for some brave adventurers willing to go down into the dungeon and collect dongle flower milk for me. I need at least 10 bottles! This is an important ingredient in one of my popular prescriptions. I am not athletic enough to go get it myself and my supplies are running low.
Please deliver all dongle flower milk to the medical shop in the northwest corner of the market. Please note, I need FULL bottles. Do not skimp or I won't pay!
JOB POSTING TWO! HELP A WOMAN'S GROWING BUSINESS!
I am a young lady looking to expand my make-up business. I heard rumors that there's water in the dungeon that could make an AMAZING base for make-up products. But it sounds like it's super scary in there and I don't want to go. Please, someone, help!
You can bring all bottles of dungeon water to the make-up booth in the southeast corner of the market. I'm willing to pay in chips or trade some of my current products. My face masks and nail polishes are really good!
JOB POSTING THREE! PLEASE DON'T ASK WHY!
Hello. I need many dungeon slime cores, so I am looking for everyone and anyone willing to go slime hunting and gather some for me. We can negotiate pay based upon the number of slime cores brought. Do not inquire what the slimes or their cores are needed for.
Please bring all slime and slime core deliveries to back door of the Dried and Baked Sundries shop. Thank you!
JOB POSTING FOUR! I WANT COLLECTABLES!
If you're going into the dungeon, I want collectables. If you find that fabled treasure room, bring me back something cool and shiny. I'm willing to pay good money! I don't care what it is as long as it's hard to get and I can brag to my friends about it.
You can find me drinking in the tavern. I'll be wearing expensive velvet and a tiny hat with a feather.

Aerith Gainsborough | Final Fantasy VII | 5♠
Floor 6
[ Makoto was only a few steps behind Aerith when the trap sprung - close enough to see the arrows hit, but too far to do anything but watch as they punched into her friend's side.
[ She was in motion instantly, rushing down the hall as quickly as she could without losing track of her surroundings because she's not going to be able to help Aerith if she's hurt too. ]
Aerith, are you--
[ The arrows just ... fell out as soon as she reached Aerith. ]
You're alright ...?
[ She's happy of course, just ... confused. There was no blood on the arrows, or the ground, or on Aerith herself -- no injuries either, for that matter. ]
We should get back to the end of the hall.
[ If there were more traps lining the walls, they'd be staying in the crosshairs if they didn't move ... and just because the arrows didn't cause any visible injury didn't mean they hadn't done something. If they get to the relative safety at the end of the corridor, she'll have a chance to assess things - to make sure Aerith is really alright, and to figure out what set off the arrow trap.
[ Without waiting for an answer, she grabs Aerith's wrist to pull her along. ]
no subject
She has to bite back the sound that lifts so suddenly to her lips as those fingers do touch her, wrapping around her wrist and setting sparks alight in her veins. And where she might usually laugh, tease Makoto for being so worried, for now she simply lets the other pull her to safety, trying to tamp her thoughts down.
As they move, she takes a breath, trying to find the right words to explain without leaving Makoto feeling uncomfortable. ]
I think... hnn. The arrow, it.. I'm not thinking straight.
no subject
[ If the arrow didn't do any physical harm, then injuring potential intruders may not be the intended effect. Knowing how the hotel operates, the alternative seems fairly obvious ... especially given the Cupid event that several other guests have already described.
[ Reaching the end of the hall, she has an opportunity to stop - to look at Aerith a little more closely. ]
How are you feeling?
[ She doesn't seem to be in pain ... but the arrow is clearly having some other kind of effect. ]
market;
Aerith still ranks high in the charts, though, which is a fair amount of the reason he decides to pause at all.]
I might be persuaded. Are you willing to make a delivery, if I pay extra?
no subject
She's not really expecting him to stop, but she's pleased that she does; to his question, she nods, quick in her response. ]
I can make a delivery, that's no problem! No extra charge, either.
[ Look, no one ever said she was a businesswoman. ]
no subject
Something for Tseng, then. I'd like you to be the one to take it to him.
[He rests his hand on Darkstar's head, idly scratching behind her ears.]
What would you recommend?
no subject
I know what I would pick for Tseng, [ she starts. ] But these flowers are from you, Rufus, so... would you be so kind as to tell me what it is you wanna say?
[ She's not trying to pry, of course! Only to do her job. But, with that in mind... ]
If you'd rather not tell me, I can pick something out. But it will be more personal if you can, you know?
mistletoe
Not precisely, but I have theories.
[ His voice, a warm accented rasp, carries an undercurrent of wry humor. When he meets her eyes, his small slanted smile settles somewhere between resigned and sardonic, silently commiserating. He is...well, he couldn't avoid getting and eyeful of her attire (or lack of it), but he isn't lingering on it. It wouldn't feel right to do otherwise without invitation when the House has clearly contrived something for them. Since he had his own gear already and most armor is at best inconvenient for a wizard, he hadn't done any shopping at the market for himself. He looks much the same adventuring here as he had adventuring back home in Exandria. ]
Can you move at all?
no subject
[ The same humor in his voice is present in hers too, although she is perhaps a little warmer than she is wry. She does, however, raise a brow when she realizes that his own clothes are... well, relatively normal, compared to the barely-there scraps she's seen others wearing (and of course wears herself). Theories... make sense, given the kind of place that they're in. She's never to her memory been held in literal place, but she has been locked in several rooms, so...
His question draws to her attention the fact that he seems able to move at least in her direction, and so she tests it too. She's barely surprised by her results—steps toward him work, but steps away from him seem as if they're blocked somehow, like an unseen force is blocking her in and forcing her closer to him.
Nearer to him now, she offers a shake of her head, a smile. ]
Only to get closer to you—
[ And then, she bursts out laughing. ]
I sincerely hope you've been here long enough to understand, because that sounded like the worst pickup line ever...
no subject
Her laugh is infectious enough to make his smile a genuine one, slightly crooked and crinkling the faint lines at the corners of his warm blue eyes. ]
Long enough, ja. [ His tone implies that he considers this an understatement. ] But it says something about me, probably, that I do not mind bad pickup lines.
[ Reassured that they seem to be more or less on the same page, he loses much of the wary tension he was holding himself with, poised for something worse. Her warmth, too, puts him at ease--and as he looks down into her upturned face only a few steps apart, it is impossible not to notice how pretty she is. ]
It is the same for me, anyway, which means at least one of my theories is probably close to the mark. Locating the source of the effect might tell us more. [ Now that they are close enough, he offers a hand; if more physical contact is going to be necessary, it's best to test the waters by easing in. The dark brown leather of his fingerless glove is warm with his body heat. ] I am Caleb Widogast, if that helps.
no subject
It makes it easier, too, to draw those last few steps closer to him, accepting the hand he offers; her grip is warm too, though perhaps somewhat less than his, some of her body heat lost due to how skimpy her outfit is. ]
It's a pleasure to meet you, Caleb. I'm Aerith Gainsborough. [ And then, because she can't resist teasing: ] I'm not sure that the exchange of names will help us that much, you know, what with the sort of place it is... but I'm happy to know all the same!
[ And, based on his suggestion, she scans the area around them, looking for something that might be keeping them in place. She sees the plant hanging, seemingly innocuous, above their heads, but thinks nothing of it. Sure, some plants and flowers can be harmful, but not in the "entrapment" sort of way, so... ]
charming market;
But he soon walks close to Aerith's stall, before stopping and looking at her with a slightly curious look from behind his glasses.]
Uh, sure? [There's a glance at her selection of flowers, although, it is pretty hard for him to really take in their vibrancy and colors with his vision. Still, he can tell that she's taken good care of them.]
...You're really only charging one credit for a flower?
no subject
Mmhmm! Just one credit. Some of them weren't mine to begin with—I got them from the Vale—and the ones I grew didn't really cost me anything to take care of them. So I don't need to make any money back, and... [ She shrugs. ] It's more about spreading the joy to everyone, you know? It's always nice to have a flower or two around!
[ She does pause here though, tilting her head as she considers him. ]
Though... your glasses are red, right? It might be hard to see their color properly if you don't take them off.
[ Sorry, Scott. She's just trying to help. ]
no subject
There's a few people he might want to get flowers for. He almost smiles at the thought.
But he looks up from his perusing when she address his sunglasses, the young mutant not quite tensing, but he still lifts a hand to his shades as if double checking that they're still on. Sure, he knows, but it's almost reflexive because his sunglasses are just that important to him.]
I can't remove them. I'd destroy your nice flower stand if I did.
[At the very least.]
no subject
Instead, she hums in thought, empathy in her expression and tone. ]
Does it bother you to see everything in shades of red? Or is it something you've gotten used to over time? Do they need to be red to protect you, or would another color work—
[ Whoops. She might be pushing it a little too far, despite her resolve to not push him. Her smile is apologetic. ]
Sorry. If it makes it better, you can ask me lots of questions about me, too.
no subject
Something about her seems... extraordinarily kind? If also really curious.
So a small smile begins to spread at the corner of his mouth, unable to stop himself. His hand drops from his glasses, this time setting on his hip.]
Does that mean I get to ask you four questions too? Or can I get a free flower?
[...Although since it's only one credit to begin with, he'll probably just end up paying anyway.]
1
And yet, the cold doesn't seem to be bothering her too much as she peers in at the flowers.] Oh, those are lovely indeed...! How vibrant and colorful!
[She chews her lip.] Mm, I'll have to decline, though. I'm trying to save up money to buy, ah, something else to wear, I'm afraid.
I don't suppose you know anywhere that's more affordable...? Something more like you're wearing would be lovely.
no subject
[ In all honesty, Aerith hadn't really been paying attention to the woman's clothing (or lack thereof). In this place, especially during the recent trick or treat festivities, it's not really that unusual for someone to be so scantily-clad. She's actually halfway toward thanking her for the compliments on the flowers when she mentions her clothing, making Aerith's brows lift. ]
I guess you're pretty new here, right? There aren't that many stores but... I've got some extra money—
[ More, in fact, than she knows what to do with. Things are more expensive here than they are in the Slums back at home, but earning is also easier—almost embarrassingly so. ]
Why don't we go together?
no subject
But then, at Aerith's words, her eyes momentarily widen in surprsie. Raziel clearly isn't expecting the offer.] What? Oh-- oh, that's so generous, I couldn't possibly take your money--
[It's not like she has anything of her own, though. Be sensible, Raziel!] ...nn, I guess I'd be foolish to turn you down - but I absolutely insist that I pay you back at the earliest possible occasion! [Huffs and surprise give way to a smile on the woman's face, shaky though it is.] The company would be nice, as well. I'm still learning my way around.
