PARKING GARAGE
ANY CAR IN A STORM
PHOENIX CASINO HALL
WELCOME TO THE NEXT 168 HOURS
Phoenix Casino is a-flutter with activity and packed to the beak with guests. As a famously ever-changing space, the staff would be remiss if they didn't deck the crown jewel of the Golden Peacock out. The casino glitters from top to bottom, shining brighter than diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals! Party-goers are shiny and glamorous with picture perfect makeup, fluttering gowns, and sharp suits. Card tables are packed and the slot machines are a-ringing as guests play, play, play! Prizes, luxury, booze, attractive people, it's the place that everyone wants to be at.
Those people being dragged inside by some invisible force...? Silly, they were so excited to come that their bodies moved before they realized what was happening. Those are struggles of joy and definitely not the casino's infamous ghost hands dragging unwilling guests to the party at the behest of the house. Look, they're literally hurling their bodies at the card tables with unrestrained glee!
All clocks indicating day hours and night hours have been removed from the casino. Once a guest has entered, their Watch will jam, making it impossible to keep track of the time. You don't need to worry about that tonight.

[. . . yeah, Akira is also giving the bag a suspicious look. no more trust!! and it is only after they are out of sight of the hotel enforcers that he stands up straight again, giving Yusuke a bit more room to breathe]
Mm. I got to know the carport pretty well.
[it was a nice time, actually!! he failed at hotwiring a car, which is a disappointment that he will carry with him until he can redeem himself. but he hung out with a half-naked stranger and talked about being spirited away to other worlds and made a new pal, and that is all that matters!!]
[Yusuke didn't mind Akira clinging onto him at all. He'd take him like that all the way through the hotel without a complaint.
As they make their way through the lobby, the bag will be "discreetly" set aside on one of the smaller tables in the lounge areas. Maybe someone will find it interesting.]
I suppose it is better than waking in the bathrooms. It happened once.
[Once out of the view of Casino attendees, Yusuke slows his pace a little and leads the way to the elevators.]
We can go to my room if you want to change out of that. Or I can show you the stores. There are also something like botanical gardens on top floors, [the close they have to the outdoors,] and gym and spa centers on the lower floor.
[tagging along like a li'l duckling, of course. paying proper attention to their surroundings as they move. gosh, this place reeks of financial waste and irresponsible spending. down with the bourgeoise—]
Change? My suit? I don't exactly mind it.
[there is some dried cake frosting on one shoulder though, so. . . he could probably do with a change into something more comfortable]
But I wouldn't mind getting out of it, either. So it's that, or the botanical gardens.
[which sound really nice!! it might be a good place to vibe in relative peace, quiet, and privacy. but while Akira has offered his opinions, he tilts his head at Yusuke and asks]
What do you want to do?
[because right now. . . he'd much rather focus on Yusuke's desires than his own]
[He should've seen Yusuke when he woke up in this place. He thought he was back at Madarame's palace, stuck in some ostentatious room of his. The urge to lash out was intense- the only thing stopping him is that he doesn't have his powers.]
I have more comfortable clothes than these. [They'll probably be big on Akira, but it's better than a stuffy suit if they are to lounge around and talk.
He discreetly glances at his palm, but there's no change on it, and he relaxes a bit more.]
The gardens are wonderful at any time of day. Quiet. I don't mind going there.
[The elevator dings open and, to Yusuke's horror, the painting is back and instantly starts throwing obscenities and dirty talk at them.]
We'll take the next one, [he mutters and reaches to close the door, making the painting hanging in the elevator screech in "pain" and "how could they leave her and deprive her of a hot makeout session".
The elevator next to the previous one arrives and Yusuke nods at it,] This one should do.
[for a moment, Alisa just stares at the elevator, perfectly stunned as he tries to comprehend what the heck just happened?? painting?? talking painting?? THIRSTY talking painting??]
[but by the time the next elevator arrives. . . he slaps a hand across his mouth and doubles over, shoulders shaking in. . . laughter]
[SORRY SOME THINGS ARE JUST SO RIDICULOUS HE CAN'T HELP HIMSELF]
[Yusuke sighs as he glances over to Akira, who's doubled down for laughs. Well, at least someone finds these things funny.
To Yusuke, it's an abomination of the highest level. However, he wasn't allowed to... "relieve" the hotel of this horror as it is "expensive property".
Also, some of those were super-glued onto the wall.]
There were also statues that did similar things, only they walked and tried to kiss you.
[Well, more than kiss you but Yusuke is trying his best to erase that from his memory.
Akira does get a nudge into the elevator from Yusuke, not wanting someone to take the empty one that arrived.]
[sometimes you cope through laughter. . . it's okay. . . also it is, in fact, extremely rude for a couple of thieves to be housed in an expensive hotel-slash-casino without any means of actually doing their thiefly duties, it's true]
You know. . . [as the laughter dies down, he obliges Yusuke's nudge and steps into the elevator] . . . all of this over-the-top "inspiration" is wholly unnecessary to get two people in bed together.
[sometimes people don't need help, Haunted Hotel-san!!]
nope, that's your Akira in your previous tag XDD gave me a good chuckle
[When you live and breathe art, it's a bit difficult to find amusement in desecrated paintings. He's gone on many tirades by now about it, but it all falls on deaf ears.]
If it were successful, the Hotel probably wouldn't use drugs or these markings to make us do it.
[Hotel-san doesn't give a damn. It wants as many people to fuck as possible. It's really jarring sometimes.]
....... MY AUTOCORRECT TYPOS!!! guess he's Alisa now--
[poor Yusuke. . . it's understandable, considering his passion is art and beauty. this place truly is far too gaudy and distorted for a soul like him. for anyone, really]
[. . . Akira's amusement fades, concern flickering back to life in the backs of his irises as he gives his thief a sideways glance. he waits until the elevator doors close around him, not because he is afraid of being overheard, but because. . . heck, he doesn't know. maybe the illusion of privacy helps. . .?]
[he rocks to the side, bumping his shoulder against Yusuke's gently. a show of camaraderie. but also, it's keeping his own anger at bay, too. moment of laughter aside, he hasn't forgotten how haggard and run-down Yusuke appears to be after a lengthy stay here. and he won't forget, either]
. . . then this place doesn't really understand the human heart.
[which isn't surprising. in his experience, non-humans are really bad at understanding humanity. lookin' at you, Yaldabaoth!!]
I suppose I can't speak for anyone but myself. [and everyone is different in their wants and desires. that, Akira knows] But. . . all it should take is a spark. A connection. A bit of trust.
No, no it doesn't. And I don't think it is even trying to do so.
[Closed doors do help when it comes to talking about these things. He's not shy per se, but he prefers private conversations. There's a chance they're being spied on by something, or someone, but the illusion of being alone helps.
The little bump does help the mood a little and his lip curls into a small smile. He has to actually pause and think through a list of people he's come to know here. Now that Akira points it out, there isn't actually anyone he can say he trusts as much as he trusts him.
He slowly shakes his head,] No. There's no one I could explicitly trust here, except you now. [His thoughts briefly drift to Kazuya and his brows narrow- can he actually trust that guy? Little fucker bites, teleports shit around, and makes fun of him- trust is a big word. Also, there's that Yu guy. Good, but elusive.
He does need to bring up the topic of Akechi, but- not here.
Maybe Yusuke just doesn't let himself trust anyone around here. It's very, very hard to.]
It's difficult to discern people's intentions while we are influenced by these, [he waves the hand with the mark on it.]
[. . . hrrrgh. Akira's gut twists a bit at that response, his own gaze narrowing. that's the answer he was afraid of]
[. . .]
[. . . honestly, for all that he talks, Akira isn't very experienced himself. too busy saving the world!! and having a piss-poor reputation with his peers doesn't help. but he still thinks. . . in all that he does know. . . that this sort of connection with someone should be fun. whether it's because people care about each other so much that they don't know how else to express it, or because they're bored and want to have a good time]
[it should be fun! and exciting!! something that brings a smile to one's face. not. . . whatever this is]
[he lifts his hand, gently opening it to stare at his bared palm, quiet until the elevator doors ding and open once more]
. . . mmm. I suppose they really would muddy the waters.
[Being kidnapped, conditioned, and threatened kind of takes all the fun out of it. Not to mention the only daylight they see is on top of the hotel and Yusuke's sure it's artificial as well.
He doesn't stop Akira from taking his hand, even if he's not too happy with showing the mark. At least it's not somewhere indecent like some people got. That would be... hard to show.
And no, he doesn't have one. Yusuke steps out after Akira; whether that's a sort of invite or not, Yusuke can't tell (he still sucks at reading people), but he knows he'd rather jump down the elevator shaft than try anything forceful with Akira.]
I hope they don't give you room below the lobby. It's- [a disaster,] prone to being attacked.
[They are currently on the level where 7's reside. Yusuke leads a short way down the hallway, past another longue in between, and stops in front of the door that has the metal plaque "7 of Diamonds- Yusuke Kitagawa".
He pushes the door open and lets Akira go in first and then follows after him. It is a spacious room, not ostentatious or opulent, but not lacking in amenities either. The bathroom is big with a bath and shower that has a sitting area. There's king sized bed on one side of the room, in front of which is a small sitting area and walk-in closet.
On the right side of the room are, surprise surprise, canvases. A lot of them. Ten months' worth of paintings and supplies, arranged but also in disarray. A few of the paintings that Yusuke considers good are hanging on the walls (a huge canvas covering the entire wall showing Shibuya, Tokyo, aerial view, a painting of a nine-tailed fox burning up in blue flames, and a tree with golden branches reaching for the sky).]
Make yourself at home. I'll get us a change of clothes right away, [Yusuke says, dropping the heavy coat he was given on the bed and goes to rummage through the closet.]
1/2 noooo i LOVE IT, also gives a long wordy tag. . . two tags. . .
[WAS IT AN INVITATION, INDEED!! . . . a very coy one, actually. for the time being, Akira isn't bound by some silly magical brand embedded on his skin. all of his actions are completely his own, fueled by his own heart and the direction in which it beats. his wants, his desires, they are completely his own. he has never been one to ignore them!!]
[. . . he likes to think that'd be true even if he did have a mark, too. he knows he's stubborn enough for it]
[either way, he doesn't push it beyond that. it's more like. . . a gentle reminder. so for now, Akira flashes his companion a grin as he gently pulls him out of the elevator]
You know I like a good scuffle every now and then. Bring it on.
[and then. . .! there's Yusuke's room, and Akira immediately finds his gaze drifting towards the canvases. his smile widens upon seeing them, eyes soft as he steps towards the decorated walls to admire his friend's handiwork. gods, Yusuke is so talented. he may be furious at how Yusuke has been treated since arriving at this resort, but. . . at least he can still paint]
Mmm. Thanks.
[a tiny head tilt. he recognizes those cityscapes]
Perhaps not with these, [spider look-a-likes, hard carapace, no weapons. Like playing a video game on insanity mode.]
[It was coy enough that Yusuke didn't catch it right off the bat to respond to it. He'll probably get it once he's in bed later, at 3 AM. It's how those things go.
They tried to ruin the painting as well! Can you imagine getting body paints and the entire pack being laced with aphrodisiacs!? It was a betrayal on a different level! The trials and tribulations of whether to use the paints or not- tossing out 'good' paint was PAINFUL.
He steps out of the closet (no pun intended), holding folded clothes in his hands (soft sweaters in dark colors, comfy pants, a belt if Akira needs it because Yusuke's taller than him, all good quality) and stops to stare at the painting Akira's looking at.]
I do... I've been here for around ten months now. I miss LeBlanc's coffee the most. Maybe I should paint it... [the interior of the small coffee shop, secluded from prying eyes. Yeah, that's a good subject for the next painting.]
[it's fine, Akira is patient. he isn't in a rush for anything (doesn't really need anything to be more content than he is now), and he'd rather focus on making sure Yusuke feels happy and comfortable in his presence than anything else. they've hung out enough times that this is more than enough. it's just like the summer before last, where they spent time in a stuffy old cafe attic watching art DVDs and reading together!!]
[with a grateful nod, Akira takes the folded outfit and begins to lay it out on the bed in front of him. every so often his eyes trail back towards those paintings, just to admire the lines of every brushstroke]
You should. [paint it, he means] Do they let you roast and grind your own coffee beans, here?
And he wishes he could go back right now to that attic and just do stupid, idle stuff, even if it's not related to painting (!!!). To think he'd miss so many ordinary things to feel sentimental about them and want to paint them; shows just how long he's been trapped here. By himself. (Akechi doesn't count! He's not a thief!)
He moves to put his own stuff on a nearby chair and starts changing out of the tight suit, rolling his shoulders back once he's out of the button-up shirt-]
Not really. Well, not on my grade. People that have "cards" of ten and above have access and more privilege to stuff. I am sure they have coffee grinders and everything one needs to roast and prepare good coffee.
I've been living, unfortunately, off of cheap coffee from chain shops. [It's not THAT bad, like Yusuke's trying to imply. But after being spoiled with LeBlanc's coffee, he's become a snob and everything pales compared to it.]
[Akira shrugs off his own jacket, tossing it haphazardly aside. and then he immediate realizes that he is making a mess in Fox's room and goes pick it up so he can lay it NEATLY across the bed. good, don't be rude, Akira]
[his fingers glide across the buttons of his own shirt, nose wrinkled as he considers this. no easy access to coffee beans and grinders, huh. . .]
That's a shame. [the lack of supplies and the cheap coffee] I wanted to make us a cup of Leblanc's special blend. [taps his temple!] The recipe is all up here.
[and a bit of comfortable nostalgia always warms the heart]
[Yusuke doesn't mind the mess, he's made a lot of it on his own with canvases and paint supplies. It's difficult to tell if his room is messy or tidy.
His eyes glance over briefly, pondering if there is any other way to acquire the coffee grinder and cooker. He changes out of his shirt and gives a small, almost cocky smile.]
When there's will, there's a way. We do earn chips with excess cards we earn, [and knowing Akira, not having an immediate solution doesn't mean there is no solution.]
I am sure we will be able to think of something.
waaah I AM GLAD I was enticed by great TDM threads
[Yusuke would be CORRECT. Akira will move heaven and Earth to obtain a good coffee maker and quality beans. ain't nothing in the world that can stop him!1 or so he likes to think!!]
[. . . also, that confident smile looks good on Yusuke. much better than the fear and worry form earlier. Akira's heart feels so soft in that moment, though. . . he has to force his own gaze away when his companion talks about chips and excess cards, because he does know the rules of the game they're playing]
[light pink blossoms on his cheeks, but he brushes it off as he tugs away the fancy button-up shirt and replaces it with another]
I'm pretty confident in our skills. Besides— [the cheek returns] — we've robbed a casino before, haven't we?
/MUCH VIBRATING/ we only need golden boy Ryuji now! also time shenanigans GO!
[Yusuke's been here for a WHILE and he still blushes himself when he has to talk about "acquiring cards". He's not as stiff as he was in the beginning, but some things don't change!
Like getting a small flush of his own in response to Akira's and turning to finish dressing because he's afraid his suit will act up to encourage things. Especially as a punishment since he made them ditch the games.]
That we did. [...] Well, we were in the middle of it when I arrived here. But I am certain it ended the way we planned.
[There's no way the fumbled that. Akira's too smart to let someone like Akechi fool him.]
no subject

That's a shame. [the lack of supplies and the cheap coffee] I wanted to make us a cup of Leblanc's special blend. [taps his temple!] The recipe is all up here.
[and a bit of comfortable nostalgia always warms the heart]
I'm so excited to see you reserved 8D!!!
[. . . also, that confident smile looks good on Yusuke. much better than the fear and worry form earlier.
Akira's too smart to let someone like Akechi fool him.]
oh my god akira is gonna die
Uh. . .
[just giving Fox a ??? look]
The casino heist was nine months ago???

...]
...yes? That's how long I've been here. Well, [he frowns,] give or take.
[Surely time would move on without him back home and the guys would solve Sae's palace without him.

Akira having existential crisis
it's only the tdm and the whiplash of feelings he has had is astounding

omg I have girl here that's spades, it's awesome 8D!
