【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
Due to a high volume of check-ins, temporary accommodations have been made in our parking garage for all new arrivals. We aim to have all guests moved into their reserved rooms as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience!
All are invited to There Is No Tomorrow, a Phoenix Casino soiree to celebrate our beloved guests. The festivities will begin at 1800 hours on January 20th and end at 1800 hours on January 27th. Please look forward to 168 hours of delight.
In an effort to raise happiness and encourage better guest relationships, attendance is required. The house will assist guests that are too shy to appear of their own accord. Please note that black tie attire is mandatory. As always, we hope you enjoy your stay! 】

ANY CAR IN A STORM
PHOENIX CASINO HALL
WELCOME TO THE NEXT 168 HOURS
Phoenix Casino is a-flutter with activity and packed to the beak with guests. As a famously ever-changing space, the staff would be remiss if they didn't deck the crown jewel of the Golden Peacock out. The casino glitters from top to bottom, shining brighter than diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals! Party-goers are shiny and glamorous with picture perfect makeup, fluttering gowns, and sharp suits. Card tables are packed and the slot machines are a-ringing as guests play, play, play! Prizes, luxury, booze, attractive people, it's the place that everyone wants to be at.
Those people being dragged inside by some invisible force...? Silly, they were so excited to come that their bodies moved before they realized what was happening. Those are struggles of joy and definitely not the casino's infamous ghost hands dragging unwilling guests to the party at the behest of the house. Look, they're literally hurling their bodies at the card tables with unrestrained glee!
All clocks indicating day hours and night hours have been removed from the casino. Once a guest has entered, their Watch will jam, making it impossible to keep track of the time. You don't need to worry about that tonight.
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's January event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. This month we also have an ongoing ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
[there's something truly intriguing about people who are more humanoid, more emotionally attached than they are. the fact that this one speaks so quickly in response to the heavy question is its own curious thing, almost endearing in its own right. but it still makes them hum softly, fingers splayed across their lap amid the shimmery fabric they're wrapped in.]
It's a bit vague, isn't it? Who are you trading your memories with? How many? Which are they of? And do you actually receive theirs? [they laugh, bright and soft.] Really, that's the kind of deal any Fae would be falling over themselves to take.
It may be vague, but in the end my answer would be the same, regardless. I would give up anything to save the people I care for.
[ his memories, his sanity, his life. of this, dan heng is absolutely positive. still, he gestures to the house of cards as he sits back again, folding his hands neatly in his lap. ]
Even if you were trading them to the other person, from best to worst? How unusual.
[as a particularly nosy fae, Loni is more than a little conditioned to see things from the lens of how they could cause the most vulnerability. but that's neither here nor there, because they do suppose Dan Heng is right. this is a game, and it's not offending them at the moment.
delicate fingers pluck up a card, tipping it over to read.]
"Would you change yourself for someone else?"
... still too vague. [disappointing. probably the best this place can manage, they suppose. exhaling a hum, they set the card down.] If the price was right, and the terms agreeable and unexploitable, I would consider it.
I have the feeling that many if not most of these questions may be vague. We'll simply have to do the best that we can with them.
[ make assumptions based around their own knowledge and experiences. hmm. dan heng's clear teal eyes are unmoving as he regards the person before him. ]
Changing yourself for another, however.. that is a big ask. What if you not being paid for it? If there was no price? What if it were for someone you care about, would you still agree even if the terms were not agreeable?
Oh, I don't mind that they're vague—that's convenient for we fae. But, no self-respecting member of the court would be caught dead making broad promises to such statements themselves.
[Their shrug is nonchalant, as if it's not actually that big a deal. As Dan Heng asks a counter-question, though, their attention drifts fully back to him.]
Changing oneself is a price, wouldn't you agree? But I can't see myself caring for someone so much that I would change for them, no. Little short of compulsion by the power of one's true name would spur change for me.
[this fact seems almost... disproportionately amusing to them. It's rare for them, after all, to be able to control the given information directly. Though, even when they begin to explain, there's no effort being put in to make it seem like things aren't being omitted.
Another grave sin, if not for some... extenuating circumstances still compelling certain obeisances.]
Well, we're called Fair Ones and Fae Folk by some, wish granters by others... I suppose we have many names, after all. But—to be clear, fae is a species, not a race. Many folk would curse you to a faerie ring if you implied they were the same race as trolls, I think.
[an easy question and answer follows, and they pluck up a card in turn.]
"What is your greatest weakness?" [a testament to the power of vague questions... their head tips thoughtfully, almost curiously, to rationalise the likely meaning in this context. And disregard it immediately in favor of taking it any way but the intended one.] Iron. My skin is far too delicate for the burns.
[aren't they nice giving him so much information about the seelie... without telling him it's about the seelie at all...]
[ he hadn't been thinking in terms of race or species, really, just an overall peoples. there wasn't enough information to know one way or the other. but he files all of this information away in the back of his mind to enter into the data bank at a later time, whenever he manages to get home. ]
Iron.. do you have an allergy?
[ not that they need to answer of course. dan heng draws another card. ]
Oh yes. Pure iron in particular, of course—the strange alloys of men are diluted enough to be harmless. We would still prefer brass or copper, though, if it must be a metal.
[They were indeed, although it's hard to be sure if the fae is... really playing it, precisely.]
Yours. Though I'm already finding this little game a bit uninteresting, compared to the company.
[ dan heng pauses with his hand halfway back to the card tower, thoughtful. ]
Well, if you like, we could simply ask one another questions, instead.
[ any question they like, though dan heng has to admit that the prompts offered by the cards are helpful for someone so introverted as himself. so he plucks one anyway. ]
If the questions here are uninteresting to you, that is - [ he says while glancing at the card, then immediately flushes warm. ] - oh. Ah.. what is your preference? Bondage, or blindfold?

At least at this time, anyway.

[ that's the second time they've used that term. dan heng tilts his head thoughtfully as he draws another card, but does not yet look at the result. ]
I've not encountered a people by that name before.
[ interesting. his gaze drops to the card as he flips it over to read the question printed on its surface. ah, an easy one this time, at least. ]
"Have you ever had a pet?" [ he shakes his head. ] No, never.

[are they... for now, Loni just settles to lean forward, chin resting on their palm.]
An allergy... yes, I suppose you could call it that. Raw iron is caustic to most of us.
[clearly, they don't mind. another unusual thing, even for them... but he's been so polite it's not been annoying this far.]

[ what an interesting little factoid, however. dan heng tilts his head. ]
I see. I imagine offering anything made from iron would cause many Fae great offense, then.
