EVENS
EVENS: NEW CHARACTERS
Music plays. Instrumental, the tune gentle enough not to disturb peaceful rest. The sudden insistent beep of the Watch is a cutting cacophony across an otherwise sweet lullaby. Upon opening their eyes, new arrivals will quickly discover that something is wrong. The quilt snug across their body is weighty. Crystals glint in a weave of embroidery and cotton shimmers with threads of silver. Dozens of decorative pillows surround the bed. The gauzy curtains of the canopied bed are drawn, obscuring the rest of the room.
Extravagant for a kidnapping. Too extravagent. What’s more, these new guests will find something even stranger than this new diamond-studded suite tucked into bed beside them. Someone else. Who are they, what are they wearing? What happened last night?!
Guests are encouraged to explore the resort from here! There are paper maps available for those who would like and staff are happy to recommend locations if they have any preferences. Enjoy your honeymoon, you lovebirds!
ODDS
ODDS: SPECIAL RE-ARRIVAL
Never trust a hallway in the Golden peacock.
Cross the wrong threshold and time begins to slow. A short hallway becomes long, sheds its doors, only leading to turns without end. Guests too eager to explore the resort have gotten lost before. For how long always varies, dependent upon capriciousness of the resort. Hours? Yes. Years? Yes. Every guest caught in the winding hallways has reported the same thing: time is different there and too difficult to discern.
Some wayward guests have been caught in the endless hallways since the FIRST TDM. Weeks pass before a single doorway appears in the distance. It creaks upon opening before everything goes topsy-turvy. These guests have been let out of a trap door in the depths of Crane's Respite.
All water corridors will eventually lead back to the populated areas of Crane's Respite. The waters are warm, the scent of bath salts returns, and staff are wild with joy at finally finding all of you. They have been beside themselves searching ever since you vanished!
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Because we love all of the new characters premiering on this TDM, we kindly request that our Evens prompt be top level exclusive for new characters. Current characters are encouraged to tag in to these prompts with the caveat that they’ve been picked up from their assigned suite (or wherever else they were before) and dumped into the new arrival’s bed. We would like for new characters to have this prompt unique to their top level comments!
▶ Players are welcome to have their current character riff off of these prompts in the log community with the exclusion of the new arrival element. This request is just for TDM top levels.
▶ Current characters and new characters are both welcome to freely mess around with the Odds prompt with the exclusion of the arrival element. For new characters, players may participate with the idea that their character is exploring Crane’s Respite after their unique arrival in the Evens prompt. The Odds arrival element may also be utilized by current player characters who may have been on an unofficial hiatus in January and did not tag as much as they would have liked, to explain any long IC absence.
▶ Octopi may be killed. If a character decides to eat one of the octopi they may find themselves taking on some of its traits. Which traits are up to player discretion.
ELEVATORS
ELEVATORS
The house has recently ordered a full changeout of art in all high traffic areas. The elevators in particular have received special attention with many different famous artworks and portraits studded to the walls for guests to admire. These artworks are treasures of the modern world that one would typically see behind glass at a museum. Guests may even find works from their own world hanging in the elevators. Even famous works that maybe have been lost to time. So this is where they ended up. Is that Vermeer's The Concert?
Guests may find their elevator suddenly stopping without warning. The portraits on the wall stir, curiously studying them, but there are three main portraits calling the shots. The portrait that controls that particular elevator will make their demands known with the threat that, if they are not obeyed, you will be trapped forever.
Elevators will function after the portrait's demands are met. Guests that hold out and refuse may find themselves trapped upwards of twelve hours. Guests with the ability to do so may crawl out of the top emergency door, free to go wherever they want from there.
GREAT TIT!
GREAT TIT!
Great Tit! is the Golden Peacock’s popular dessert bar and cafe. With its bright pops of color and whimsical treats, guests simply can’t resist stopping in for a butt shaped cookie and hazelnut coffee. After catching wind that the resort has decided to celebrate a dessert shop's most lucrative holiday, Great Tit! is ready to impress the masses. Advertisements for limited edition drinks and desserts rain the main lobby; one can’t go three steps without slipping on a neon pink coupon for 10 percent off nipple buns. Guests that decide to pass by the cafe will find themselves assaulted with confetti cannons and eager employees ushering them inside.
Guests will find a temporary communal shower room upon exiting Great Tit! where they can wash off after a fun day of rolling around in sugar. All guests will be gifted a tee branded with a, CHOCOLATE IS MY LOVER logo.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ This portraits prompt has been triggered by several characters expressing interest in and investigating the lore of the resort paintings. This is just dipping a beginning toe in, but congrats to all for poking around!
▶ Portraits in the elevator should not be destroyed, purely for continuity’s sake. If a character would go far enough to attack one of the portraits, the portrait will slap them back with ghostly power.
▶ Characters may also figure other ways out of the elevator if they have specific abilities to do so. While the portraits can control the elevators, they cannot control your character(s). Any destruction to the elevator itself is liable to result in a rush of security dragging the culprit(s) away to the Iron Net.
▶ Great Tit! is running a massive sale! Even characters who are on the broke end of the spectrum will be able to afford to join in on the fun and indulge in sugar at these prices.
▶ Players are encouraged to make up any other elements for the Hall of Chocolate. If it’s a dessert and edible, it’s there. Enjoy your sugar coma!
▶ While the chocolate boxes are ICly limited due to Alessandro’s skills as a chocolatier, this is only an IC mechanic. There is no OOC limitation on this prompt as far as chocolate rarity goes.
THE NEST
ALICE AND THE PARROTS
Fashion boutiques are a dime a dozen in the Nest. The shopping hub is massive, lined with stores all trying to aggressively appeal to guests. A challenge in itself — but the guests of the Golden Peacock are no ordinary people. Used to being pampered and fed excitement, if these boutiques don’t bust their bottoms to appeal to the fickle nature of their patrons, they won’t be in business for much longer! One particular boutique, Alice and the Parrots, is riding winds of romantic thrill and churning out a couple of brand new fashion lines sure to draw in loads of chips.
Guests are welcome to try on clothes in Alice and the Parrots' dressing rooms. These dressing rooms are small and can only accommodate two people sharing at a time. Such is the life of a small boutique store. Sharing is no big deal, right? And there’s no way you can buy clothing this expensive without giving it a test first.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Players are encouraged to make up whatever cute outfits they would like for this prompt.
▶ Wedding clothes do not have to be cute and frilly; this section accommodates tastes of everyone.
▶ Alice and the Parrots is more expensive than Love Dove. Their clothing quality is excellent but their price tags are high. Staff may watch low ranks extra diligently to cut off any stealing. Thieves will be chased by NPC security! Anyone caught gets a day in the Iron Net.
CASINO CHAPEL
CASINO FLOOR
A Pop up Chapel has appeared in the Phoenix Casino. Guests are delighting in playing out weddings and pretending to get married — and a few guests are even tying the knot for real. They aren't worried about the sanctity of marriage; they can divorce tomorrow if they get bored of each other. And everyone knows that getting married doesn't mean you can't fuck whoever you want!
Since the resort isn't keeping track of how many marriages a guest has, all guests are encouraged to marry as many people as they would like. The more the merrier!
Wild wedding events will continue all throughout the month of February, until the guests find it's gotten stale. A divorce rush will round out the fun at the end of the month.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Weddings are not legally binding. Birdvis is not registered as a real officiant, but he does have an excellent beak and pompadour.
▶ Prizes from easy mode slot machines are automatic and do not require mod thumbs up to claim.
▶ Chip prize from difficult mode slot machines is automatic. The special prize is 5 reward points to add to your bank on rewards. Players who wish to claim the special prize should link the finished thread (the kink in question has been completed) under their rewards header with the header, Wedding Slot Machine. ▶ All new characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. The house is still observing and deciding. As rank and suits are assigned upon acceptance your new character's suit will not manifest until they are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's February event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Please make sure to review the arrival prompt notes! Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are priority and receive attention!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with the prompts on this TDM please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort.
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread anyway!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
▶ Thank you for spending Valentine's Day with us! You're our sweetheart this year. 💕
[ Normally, she wouldn't give a hoot about what some rando has to say, especially when they look at her like she's sprouted a second head. But she catches that throwaway comment. Her eyes narrow, and she slowly peers over her back at that curious "tank" she passed.
This. Jerk.
Monika stomps back over, fists balled up, lower lip jutting out. To say she looks her brattiest would be an understatement. She's allowed to be, however. This is the rudest thing any alien has ever done to her, and she only knows the one alien! ]
Really clever, huh? You really thought you were going to trick me!
[ ...Only she's not thinking this vehicle is actually him. She stomps forward, aiming to peer into what seems to be a window. This means, yep, she's climbing up to reach it. She's not as blessed with height as him!
And just in case that isn't enough to get his attention, once she's (barely) up there, she's insistently knocking on said window. He won't fool her! She's not dumb! ]
I know you're in there! Open up and come out here right now to-- [ Oof, nearly slipped. ] --to apologize to me!
[It's a voice. It's more mechanical and electronic sounding than what the avatar sounded, but the intonation is unmistakably Soundwave. Not only that, the voice seems to be coming from the vehicle itself rather than from inside.
Monika wouldn't have any time to ponder that, however.]
I suggest you back up.
[When she does so, the metal plates starts to shift around and the tank seemingly rising up? The transformation is again instantaneous; metal plates moving around and clicking all at once to form into a humanoid shape. Two legs formed first, then the arms, and then finally what's standing before Monika is a ten feet tall mech. Soundwave looks down at his new friend, seemingly supple metal arms folding across his chest, wearing the exact visor and mask the avatar was waring.]
[ Is he going for a record with making her scream? Seems like it. Unfortunately, he doesn't get it, but she does yelp loudly. Now he has a loudspeaker?!
Nope, wrong again. When she manages to do as told--or more like slowly and squeakily slide her way down to the pavement--it becomes clearer that it's not the case. Her jaw drops as she stumbles backwards, watching the transformation as if a UFO was touching down in front of her. Maybe one is. Is he a UFO?!
When he's finished, standing there in his smaller glory, her mouth keeps moving, but no sound will come out. Coming into awareness in her game was the first time her worldview was shattered. Next came her arrival here. Now, once again, everything she thought she knew was obliterated. The line between fantasy and reality kept growing thinner and thinner, to the point that she was wondering if it ever existed.
She takes another step back, then falls flat on her butt. If he were his full height, she'd probably have passed out. The fall, at least, seemingly jars her brain back into gear, and she finds words to say. Dumb words, but words nonetheless. ]
[Wow, he really is making her scream a lot, huh. While he could somewhat handle it when she screamed near the avatar (still hurts), but being close to his real body? Soundwave flinches in pain... Perhaps he should've expected that reaction, but still his poor audial receptors.]
Not so loud. I have sensitive hearings.
[Soundwave leans his shoulder against nearby pillar, arms still folded. No, he's definitely not needing some support to stay standing because he's drunk. He just wants to lean against the pillar for no reason, yup. Definitely not because he's drunk.
At least his tone doesn't make it obvious that he's feeling a bit drunk... however that works.]
I am a Cybertronian, a mechanical lifeform. A pleasure to meet you in person, Monika.
[Despite everything that has happened between them in less than a day, he still finds her company pleasurable.]
[ Her shoulders hunch as she winces, and she does her best to keep her voice at an acceptable level. ] Sorry...
[ He should understand why she rightfully freaked out, though! Just look at him! Sure, he's not his full height, but it's still intimidating. Surely he's going to T-rex stomp her at any moment. Or maybe punt her like a human soccer ball? Neither sounds like a good time. The way he's leaning against the pillar to look extra badass isn't helping either.
She scoots back a little more. Just in case. Just until she can find it in her to stand again. ]
Um. I-It's nice to meet you, too.
[ She offers a tiny finger wave and nervous giggle. Giving him a piece of her mind is getting taken off her itinerary now. ]
A...a Cybertronian, huh? [ How to word this nicely? ] I can't say I was expecting...this!
[ Walking up to a small Godzilla would've been sooo much easier to digest. ]
[Hey, he'll take her thinking he's being extra badass over him trying to not look he's drunk. Soundwave lets out a huff of his vents.]
I do not suspect that most anybody can expect this. In fact, I'd say your response is normal.
[Still hurt his ears, though.]
You came to meet me to give me a piece of your mind, correct? I promise I won't be angry at you.
[He could only give his words to her. After all, he does look and can easily punt or stomp her-- Soundwave can't blame her for having second thoughts or being scared of him. Luckily for Monika, Soundwave wouldn't do neither of those since he'd rather not do anything violent anymore. He'd rather avoid such after being in a war for far too long. What's more, he's turned over a new leaf some time ago. Okay, he's still very much a antisocial jerk, but he's definitely not on the 'look down on humans or organics' train anymore.
.... Not that it's easy to tell, especially given his naturally intimidating look, size, and voice. Again, it's up to her to believe his words.]
Ahaha, well good to know I'm being "normal," I guess...
[ She'll take it as a compliment, since she loves compliments. That helps her to feel better, so she thinks she can manage to stand now. Again, she's sure putting her fingerprints all over someone's six-figure car is fine.
Monika takes another moment to somewhat compose herself, then edges a tiny bit closer. When she's standing, he's not as bad. ]
Did I say something about that? Weird! I don't remember! [ Of course she remembers that. ] Besides, I'd rather get to know the...real you...
[ She makes a face up at him. ] You let me say that to you earlier and didn't correct me? You jerk!
[Well, look at that. So she does have a backbone. Soundwave was about to say that's a lie, but it seems that she has another matter about him she has a problem with.
There's a moment where he doesn't say anything, letting the silence linger for a bit. Then, he turns his head away, almost bashful looking? There's even a tinge blue blush on his mask where his cheeks would be.]
I... was not sure how to bring that up, admittedly.
[It's simple, as that. He's just bad at communicating.]
[ Sure, she has a backbone, though it's more like she lacks any sort of filter or self-preservation. Add alcohol into the equation? What tiny sliver of sense she has is probably in orbit somewhere around his planet. Good luck finding it.
Her arms cross to mirror his, and she takes another bold step forward, looking unimpressed. ]
How about "hi, I may look like an adorable tsundere girl, but I'm actually a giant alien robot"? [ Yeah, "robot" feels right. ] That'd be great! I don't deserve to be lied to!
[ Oh, the irony. ]
Besides... [ Her expression softens a tad. ] I know I reacted the way I did, but I actually would prefer to know the real you.
[ She squints. ] Wait. Is your face okay? That...is your face, right?
[There's no offense at all with she said to him. If anything, Soundwave appreciates the bluntness, whether it's because someone does have the guts for it or lacking filter or self-preservation. Whatever the reason may be, he prefers bluntness.]
I suppose I should've done that, thank you. [He's taking her advice genuinely, so there's that.] I do have to correct you on one thing.
[He turns his head back to her. The blue tinge is still there (doesn't help that she actually wants to know the real him than the fake avatar), but he's ignoring it.]
I am not a robot. Careful with calling us that, as it is considered an insult. Some may not respond in kind. [Soundwave is chill on this matter.] We are living beings, just like humans. Formed naturally and not built or programmed.
[Of course, there's another method Cybertronians are created. Cold Constructed, but that's can of worm he won't be opening up today. That aside, Soundwave is certain that she has many questions about that, and he's prepared for that.]
It's my mask, and... yes, I am okay.
[But before he answers any other questions, Soundwave steps forward until he's in front of Monika. The height difference between them is clear. Astounding, really. It's not the same feeling he has when he was thirty feet tall nor does he have to crank his neck down so much, but he still he towers over Monika. This won't do at all. He'll crouch down just the same-- only this time, he isn't towering over a human.
There's a slight hesitation on his part. Then, gingerly he reaches out to take her hand, surprisingly gentle and careful as if to not hurt such a delicate hand while giving a handshake. Despite being entirely mechanical, Monika may feel that his hand is warm instead of cold as one may assumed. Like he said, he is a living being, and the warmth is made possible from the kinetic processors underneath.]
[ Her eyes widen slightly, then her gaze drops to the pavement. It's one thing to be blunt. It's another to be rude to a friend. A few emotions flit across her face, each one more unreadable than the next. Clearly, there's a lot going on in her head. He's not the only one that's always wearing a mask.
What's hiding in there, she doesn't say. She breathes out, then nods in understanding. ]
I'm sorry. I won't do it again.
[ Especially since she has no idea of what to consider herself. Sure, she's "human" now, but what was she? Is she still whatever that was supposed to be? Was she ever human before? Being in a constant state of ambiguity was weighing heavier on her mind with each passing day.
Her questions will come soon enough. For now, she needs to get over the uncomfortable feeling that comes with messing up. Being imperfect. That always stings the most.
There's a tiny gasp when she spots him coming closer in her peripheral, and she looks up just in time to see him looming above. She remains in stunned silence as he crouches down, then trembles a little once he takes her hand. Wow, warm, she does end up thinking. Nothing cold and dead. Someone warm and alive.
Something like a smile finally shows, and after the handshake, she places her other hand on top of his. ]
Thank you for being patient with me. And... [ The smile gets stronger. ] Thank you for trusting me. You didn't have to. It means a lot to me.
[The apology is unneeded, but appreciated. What he looks for is acknowledgement, but it never hurts to hear an apology. It's only a problem when someone doubled down on it... which so far he's yet to met anyone like that. Monika, despite her rude comments and behavior earlier, he can see that she is a kind soul underneath.
So much for preparing himself for getting a piece of her mind. Instead, they're having a soft moment. But, it's nice, really, knowing that he has a good friend that he can possibly rely on.
With a nod as a silent 'you're welcome', he lets go of her hand and rests his arm on his knee.]
Still, I will be using the avatar at times in the future. It's... convenient.
[For a number of reasons, not just the kind of debauchery this place encourages. Blending in, tasting new things... For now, his real form will stay in the garage. Or at least until there's a room where he'll be comfortable enough to fit inside or a bed that wouldn't break from under his weight.]
However, do not let that stop you from seeing the real me as well, if you prefer.
Orrrr you just want people to keep thinking you're sweet and adorable~
[ Sure, there's a kind soul buried in her somewhere, but she's currently an inebriated kind soul. The teasing must continue! That, and sitting down, because dizziness. She flops down and leans against his leg, since it's conveniently there. Much better. ]
I do prefer this, though, even if you're determined to keep all these fancy cars company. I don't care what you look like. I'm just happy to not be alone anymore.
[ With inebriation comes more truthfulness too, it seems. Even so, things like gender--or in this case, species--generally haven't crossed her mind as an issue. If someone cared about her, that's all that mattered. ]
Maybe you're not as grumpy as I thought you were? Just really bored. Ahaha!
[And there it is. The tsundere is back. And oh, is she resting on his leg. If Monika looks up, she'll see that Soundwave's visor and the one side of the ridge above the visor curving upwards, mildly surprised. You can't say that he isn't slightly expressive....
Normally he would mind about someone using his leg to rest, but he's a bit dizzy as well. And Monika's a friend. However, staying in this kneeling position can be a bit uncomfortable on his joints for too long.
Hopefully, Monika doesn't mind being manhandled for a bit, picking her up by the scruff of her neck, much like a cat. Soundwave sits down before setting Monika down onto his lap and lets her lean her head on his chest, if she so desires. He figures it isn't the most comfy place, since he's all metal and she's flesh, but at least he's warm? If she minds at all, he'll even tentatively rest his arm on her stomach.
And they can safely sit on the middle of the road. Nobody really comes down here and drives any one of these cars anyway.]
So you don't. I... suppose I am glad that the feeling is mutual.
[Inebriation certainly has that effect of making the truth coming out easily. Soundwave would've had trouble saying that part out loud.]
Perhaps I am bored... I cannot deny that. And you make better company than the cars anyway.
[ Monika does peer up, giggling at what she sees. ] But you areeeeee!
[ She has to slap her hand over her mouth to hold in the rest of yet another loud shriek, having remembered at the last second that it'd probably hurt his...ears? Speakers? Whatever. Point is, when you're suddenly watching the ground get further away, it's going to cause a reaction! Maybe she should've expected King Kong instead of Godzilla!!
It's amazing that he even gets her in his lap, as much as she flailed like a cat primed to destroy whoever dared to scruff it. However, once there, she goes very, very still. This is...
Slowly, she peers up again, blinking rapidly. She's in his lap. No matter who in the universe is doing such a thing, that's intimate. Sure, she feels like she's cuddling up with a car, but it's a big deal! Her heart's going a little crazy, to put it lightly, and it's not just the alcohol making her feel lightheaded anymore.
What he says doesn't help, either. Her gaze drops down as she takes a few shaky breaths. ]
Aside from the fact that you could've warned me! That's...well, it's nice to hear. [ One of her hands twitches against his chest as she curls in a little closer. For the first time ever, she's feeling something like...safe? ] I've been bored, too. And scared and alone...
[ Her eyes shut as her ear presses in against the warm metal, listening. ] I wonder. Do you have a heartbeat?
[There's definitely some level of intimacy going on. Although he's only done this so they both can be comfortable, it does hit him that this is quite intimate to do. Oh well, Monika isn't complaining, so he isn't going to bother with chaning position again when they both are comfortable. .... If he was bigger, he would've let her sit on his shoulder though.
That aside, what Monika said strikes a chord.
Scared and alone...
He can empathize with her, there. He's been there before. No one to rely on, no one to go to, being so lost. Perhaps seeing some reflections of his past self in Monika that has him also feeling... Protective of her? It's strange; he's only known her for a day, yet he can't help but feel strongly protective.
When he was alone and scared, a couple of kind souls stumbled across him and helped him get on his feet when everybody else rejected him. He could show the same kindness for someone else who is or has been terribly alone for a long time.]
Heartbeat? What is that?
[That answers that, doesn't it? He knows what a heart is, but not that. Though he lacks a heartbeat, that doesn't mean there's no sound inside hin. Monika should be able to hear a low hum of air and low pulsing energy sound inside him.
Soundwave is flushing a little seeing how peaceful Monika looks as she rests on his chest. Being lightheaded from alcohol does make him less touch aversed. Still, he won't disturb her rest, but his hand, once again with some hesitance, gently and slowly rubs his finger on her stomach.]
[ She laughs softly at his reply. ] I guess you don't. But that's okay.
[ It's nice, though, what she does hear. Completely inhuman, but definitely something full of life. That's all she's ever wanted, to feel and hear someone real and alive. This is just as calming. Just as comforting. ]
It's what I-- [ She pauses as her brain stumbles over what she intended to say. ] It's what someone with a body like mine has. My heart's always beating to keep the blood flowing, otherwise I'd be dead, ahaha.
[ That still feels wrong to say, even if it's the truth. There's a bitter taste that lingers afterward that pulls the corners of her mouth down. She didn't have a "real" heartbeat before, but she was still alive, wasn't she? Or...was she not?
Her eyes blink open with a quiet noise of surprise, then suddenly she's giggling again, her stomach squirming under his finger. ]
Heyyy, that tickles a little! [ She pokes his chest in return, though she figures it's like getting pestered by a mosquito in comparison. ] Trying to make me purr or something?
[That phrasing seems a little odd. Or maybe he's overthinking things? Either way, he learned something new about humans today. Hearing her giggles has him stop tickling her stomach. But he stays his hand on her stomach.]
I did not know you were ticklish. Do you want me to stop then?
[There's a pause as he ponders over if he should ask his next question. Then, awkwardly:]
And can I... listen to your heartbeat?
[Is that weird to ask? Though it probably isn't any weirder than putting her on his lap? Both seems pretty intimate to do. Plus, Monika listened to his "heartbeat" without asking first, so...]
I dunno. I mean...I didn't know I was ticklish either.
[ That's bringing those troublesome thoughts back. Before they can fully resurface, however, his question shoves them out into the ether. Monika lifts her head and blinks up at him, taking in a shaky breath. Talk about intimacy...
She doesn't answer immediately. She can't. There's nothing weird about it, no. Instead, it's occurring to her that she may be crossing a boundary set by her imaginary lover, the person that spurred on this whole meeting. Not only would they be upset with her sitting in an alien's lap, his hand on her stomach, but they also would not approve of anything like listening to a heartbeat!
Looking down, she swallows hard, contemplative. Who is she to deny an alien an experience they may never get otherwise? It'd be ruder not to let him! It sounds good to her tipsy mind, anyway. ]
Yeah. Sure. You'll probably have to lift me higher, though. Unless you can bend down enough...?
[ She taps her chest, right over her heart. Thinking of him hearing how fast that heart's beating only makes it thrum faster. Maybe she'll say that's a normal human heart rate if he asks? Yeah, sounds good. ]
[He did consider in his head how he's about to do this. Lift Monika up, or bend down to her chest. Both are viable options, but what is more comfortable to do? Hmmmm.]
I might just lift you up.
[A pause.]
Or I could use my holoavatar instead... Recall it here. I am still able to hear you through the avatar.
[Unless she doesn't mind having metal press against her chest while being lifted up in the air. After all, he doesn't seek to make her uncomfortable in any way.]
[ Her brow furrows as she ponders that. ] Well. Hmm.
[ She fidgets with some of her loose hair. It's nice that he's giving her options, and they both sound intriguing for different reasons. But... ]
I'm fine with whatever's easier for you. But is it weird to say I prefer this? It's a little uncomfortable maybe, but that's nothing a few pillows can't fix~ There's just something about the way you sound. It's...comforting?
[ There's a chuckle, then she shrugs before she can think too much on why she feels that way. ] It's like I told you. I like being with the real you. I don't want to make you feel like you have to rely on your avatar unless you need to, you know?
[ That might mean she's absolutely weird. Guess it's just destiny, the two of them being weird in some way. ]
Whichever you do... [ His hand gets a playful little poke. ] Remember to warn me if you're moving me around, okay?
[Soundwave is about to go with the avatar, since it'll be easier for them both. But then Monika continues talking, which makes him reconsider yet again.
She truly is weird. But he appreciates what she said. Shouldn't known what he should do, if she prefers the real him.]
I did not know I could be comforting for someone. [Except for his closest friends, nobody else had ever said that to him.]
Fine.
[He'll warn her next time before lifting her up. Gosh. That said, he doesn't need to warn her this time, as she should know it's coming. And so, Soundwave gently grasps Monika under her armpits and brings her to stand up on her feet. She doesn't need to go up high in the air. He isn't that tall anymore. Additional, Soundwave is still sitting; he'll still help to lift her up a bit, but Monika can just tiptoe on his leg and reach her chest to his head.
When it's close enough, Soundwave tilts his head and gently places it against her chest, listening to her heartbeat.
However, the first word to come out of his mouth instead is:]
[ She's about to laugh and give him a warm smile, but then there he goes again, moving her without saying anything. There's an immediate huff as she's shifted around, then-- ]
Hey hey hey! I said warn me! I'm not a doll!
[ If he wants a Barbie, he can go find one! She has agency, thank you very much!
Any further protests fade away as he begins to go for it. Her inhale gets caught in her chest just before his head makes contact. Sure enough, once they're touching, her heart goes even nuttier. The way her exhale sputters out probably isn't going to make explaining that away any better.
It's just...this is a lot. More than she anticipated. He might feel her knees knocking together, too, just from how much her feet keep shifting on his leg. And her hands? She doesn't know where to put them. Her fingers twitch in the air as she swallows hard. ]
Ahh. Ahaha. That sounds like something the main character would say in a game, just before the romance route turned sexy.
[She should've seen that coming! That 'fine' should've sufficed enough to warn her! At least Soundwave thinks so...]
I have no idea what you are talking about.
[Non gamer over here- never even touched a visual novel before. But yes, he is a bit aware that what came out of his mouth sounds weird. Humans are soft! That's a fact, so he isn't sure why that was the first thing he vocalized upon pressing against her soft chest.
But that aside, he listens closely to her heartbeat, and..... Is it supposed to beat this fast? Something tells him this isn't normal.]
Your.... heartbeat. It sounds... anxious?
[Not to mention her feet are shifting a lot and her knees knocking. Is... Is she doing okay? Still pressed against her chest, Soundwave tilts his head slightly up to meet Monika's face.]
Or the mimosas! Definitely the mimosas. I wonder what they put into those things! Ahaha!
[ And yet, her heart's still going a mile a minute. For lack of a better option to control her hands, she...starts patting his head. ]
I think the most important thing here is that I meant...erm.
[ Actually, no. She probably shouldn't shift the conversation to sexy games. That'd be even more awkward, especially with him so close to, ah. Boobs. ]
You know what? I think my body's defective! I should ask for a new one!
no subject
This.
] --to apologize to me!
no subject
Soundwave looks down at his new friend, seemingly supple metal arms folding across his chest, wearing the exact visor and mask the avatar was waring.]
no subject
You're--you're a sentient tank?!
[ What the hell was NASA up to!!! ]
no subject
Not so loud. I have sensitive hearings.
[Soundwave leans his shoulder against nearby pillar, arms still folded. No, he's definitely not needing some support to stay standing because he's drunk. He just wants to lean against the pillar for no reason, yup. Definitely not because he's drunk.
At least his tone doesn't make it obvious that he's feeling a bit drunk... however that works.]
I am a Cybertronian, a mechanical lifeform. A pleasure to meet you in person, Monika.
[Despite everything that has happened between them in less than a day, he still finds her company pleasurable.]
no subject
no subject
Again, it's up to her to believe his words.]
no subject
You jerk!
[ So maybe he can get that piece after all! ]
no subject
There's a moment where he doesn't say anything, letting the silence linger for a bit. Then, he turns his head away, almost bashful looking? There's even a tinge blue blush on his mask where his cheeks would be.]
I... was not sure how to bring that up, admittedly.
[It's simple, as that. He's just bad at communicating.]
no subject
Her arms cross to mirror his, and she takes another bold step forward, looking unimpressed. ]
How about "hi, I may look like an adorable tsundere girl, but I'm actually a giant alien robot"? [ Yeah, "robot" feels right. ] That'd be great! I don't deserve to be lied to!
[ Oh, the irony. ]
Besides... [ Her expression softens a tad. ] I know I reacted the way I did, but I actually would prefer to know the real you.
[ She squints. ] Wait. Is your face okay? That...is your face, right?
[ A valid question! Who knows with aliens! ]
no subject
Thank you.
no subject
It means a lot to me.
no subject
However, do not let that stop you from seeing the real me as well, if you prefer.
no subject
Ahaha!
no subject
And you make better company than the cars anyway.
no subject
] I wonder. Do you have a heartbeat?
no subject
Still, he won't disturb her rest, but his hand, once again with some hesitance, gently and slowly rubs his finger on her stomach.]
no subject
] Trying to make me purr or something?
no subject
I did not know you were ticklish. Do you want me to stop then?
[There's a pause as he ponders over if he should ask his next question. Then, awkwardly:]
And can I... listen to your heartbeat?
[Is that weird to ask? Though it probably isn't any weirder than putting her on his lap? Both seems pretty intimate to do. Plus, Monika listened to his "heartbeat" without asking first, so...]
no subject
no subject
I might just lift you up.
[A pause.]
Or I could use my holoavatar instead... Recall it here. I am still able to hear you through the avatar.
[Unless she doesn't mind having metal press against her chest while being lifted up in the air. After all, he doesn't seek to make her uncomfortable in any way.]
no subject
[ No more sudden lifting! ]
no subject
She truly is weird. But he appreciates what she said. Shouldn't known what he should do, if she prefers the real him.]
I did not know I could be comforting for someone. [Except for his closest friends, nobody else had ever said that to him.]

Maybe it's your...alien charm?
[ That's not deflecting! ]
