EVENS
EVENS: NEW CHARACTERS
Music plays. Instrumental, the tune gentle enough not to disturb peaceful rest. The sudden insistent beep of the Watch is a cutting cacophony across an otherwise sweet lullaby. Upon opening their eyes, new arrivals will quickly discover that something is wrong. The quilt snug across their body is weighty. Crystals glint in a weave of embroidery and cotton shimmers with threads of silver. Dozens of decorative pillows surround the bed. The gauzy curtains of the canopied bed are drawn, obscuring the rest of the room.
Extravagant for a kidnapping. Too extravagent. What’s more, these new guests will find something even stranger than this new diamond-studded suite tucked into bed beside them. Someone else. Who are they, what are they wearing? What happened last night?!
Guests are encouraged to explore the resort from here! There are paper maps available for those who would like and staff are happy to recommend locations if they have any preferences. Enjoy your honeymoon, you lovebirds!
ODDS
ODDS: SPECIAL RE-ARRIVAL
Never trust a hallway in the Golden peacock.
Cross the wrong threshold and time begins to slow. A short hallway becomes long, sheds its doors, only leading to turns without end. Guests too eager to explore the resort have gotten lost before. For how long always varies, dependent upon capriciousness of the resort. Hours? Yes. Years? Yes. Every guest caught in the winding hallways has reported the same thing: time is different there and too difficult to discern.
Some wayward guests have been caught in the endless hallways since the FIRST TDM. Weeks pass before a single doorway appears in the distance. It creaks upon opening before everything goes topsy-turvy. These guests have been let out of a trap door in the depths of Crane's Respite.
All water corridors will eventually lead back to the populated areas of Crane's Respite. The waters are warm, the scent of bath salts returns, and staff are wild with joy at finally finding all of you. They have been beside themselves searching ever since you vanished!
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Because we love all of the new characters premiering on this TDM, we kindly request that our Evens prompt be top level exclusive for new characters. Current characters are encouraged to tag in to these prompts with the caveat that they’ve been picked up from their assigned suite (or wherever else they were before) and dumped into the new arrival’s bed. We would like for new characters to have this prompt unique to their top level comments!
▶ Players are welcome to have their current character riff off of these prompts in the log community with the exclusion of the new arrival element. This request is just for TDM top levels.
▶ Current characters and new characters are both welcome to freely mess around with the Odds prompt with the exclusion of the arrival element. For new characters, players may participate with the idea that their character is exploring Crane’s Respite after their unique arrival in the Evens prompt. The Odds arrival element may also be utilized by current player characters who may have been on an unofficial hiatus in January and did not tag as much as they would have liked, to explain any long IC absence.
▶ Octopi may be killed. If a character decides to eat one of the octopi they may find themselves taking on some of its traits. Which traits are up to player discretion.
ELEVATORS
ELEVATORS
The house has recently ordered a full changeout of art in all high traffic areas. The elevators in particular have received special attention with many different famous artworks and portraits studded to the walls for guests to admire. These artworks are treasures of the modern world that one would typically see behind glass at a museum. Guests may even find works from their own world hanging in the elevators. Even famous works that maybe have been lost to time. So this is where they ended up. Is that Vermeer's The Concert?
Guests may find their elevator suddenly stopping without warning. The portraits on the wall stir, curiously studying them, but there are three main portraits calling the shots. The portrait that controls that particular elevator will make their demands known with the threat that, if they are not obeyed, you will be trapped forever.
Elevators will function after the portrait's demands are met. Guests that hold out and refuse may find themselves trapped upwards of twelve hours. Guests with the ability to do so may crawl out of the top emergency door, free to go wherever they want from there.
GREAT TIT!
GREAT TIT!
Great Tit! is the Golden Peacock’s popular dessert bar and cafe. With its bright pops of color and whimsical treats, guests simply can’t resist stopping in for a butt shaped cookie and hazelnut coffee. After catching wind that the resort has decided to celebrate a dessert shop's most lucrative holiday, Great Tit! is ready to impress the masses. Advertisements for limited edition drinks and desserts rain the main lobby; one can’t go three steps without slipping on a neon pink coupon for 10 percent off nipple buns. Guests that decide to pass by the cafe will find themselves assaulted with confetti cannons and eager employees ushering them inside.
Guests will find a temporary communal shower room upon exiting Great Tit! where they can wash off after a fun day of rolling around in sugar. All guests will be gifted a tee branded with a, CHOCOLATE IS MY LOVER logo.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ This portraits prompt has been triggered by several characters expressing interest in and investigating the lore of the resort paintings. This is just dipping a beginning toe in, but congrats to all for poking around!
▶ Portraits in the elevator should not be destroyed, purely for continuity’s sake. If a character would go far enough to attack one of the portraits, the portrait will slap them back with ghostly power.
▶ Characters may also figure other ways out of the elevator if they have specific abilities to do so. While the portraits can control the elevators, they cannot control your character(s). Any destruction to the elevator itself is liable to result in a rush of security dragging the culprit(s) away to the Iron Net.
▶ Great Tit! is running a massive sale! Even characters who are on the broke end of the spectrum will be able to afford to join in on the fun and indulge in sugar at these prices.
▶ Players are encouraged to make up any other elements for the Hall of Chocolate. If it’s a dessert and edible, it’s there. Enjoy your sugar coma!
▶ While the chocolate boxes are ICly limited due to Alessandro’s skills as a chocolatier, this is only an IC mechanic. There is no OOC limitation on this prompt as far as chocolate rarity goes.
THE NEST
ALICE AND THE PARROTS
Fashion boutiques are a dime a dozen in the Nest. The shopping hub is massive, lined with stores all trying to aggressively appeal to guests. A challenge in itself — but the guests of the Golden Peacock are no ordinary people. Used to being pampered and fed excitement, if these boutiques don’t bust their bottoms to appeal to the fickle nature of their patrons, they won’t be in business for much longer! One particular boutique, Alice and the Parrots, is riding winds of romantic thrill and churning out a couple of brand new fashion lines sure to draw in loads of chips.
Guests are welcome to try on clothes in Alice and the Parrots' dressing rooms. These dressing rooms are small and can only accommodate two people sharing at a time. Such is the life of a small boutique store. Sharing is no big deal, right? And there’s no way you can buy clothing this expensive without giving it a test first.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Players are encouraged to make up whatever cute outfits they would like for this prompt.
▶ Wedding clothes do not have to be cute and frilly; this section accommodates tastes of everyone.
▶ Alice and the Parrots is more expensive than Love Dove. Their clothing quality is excellent but their price tags are high. Staff may watch low ranks extra diligently to cut off any stealing. Thieves will be chased by NPC security! Anyone caught gets a day in the Iron Net.
CASINO CHAPEL
CASINO FLOOR
A Pop up Chapel has appeared in the Phoenix Casino. Guests are delighting in playing out weddings and pretending to get married — and a few guests are even tying the knot for real. They aren't worried about the sanctity of marriage; they can divorce tomorrow if they get bored of each other. And everyone knows that getting married doesn't mean you can't fuck whoever you want!
Since the resort isn't keeping track of how many marriages a guest has, all guests are encouraged to marry as many people as they would like. The more the merrier!
Wild wedding events will continue all throughout the month of February, until the guests find it's gotten stale. A divorce rush will round out the fun at the end of the month.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Weddings are not legally binding. Birdvis is not registered as a real officiant, but he does have an excellent beak and pompadour.
▶ Prizes from easy mode slot machines are automatic and do not require mod thumbs up to claim.
▶ Chip prize from difficult mode slot machines is automatic. The special prize is 5 reward points to add to your bank on rewards. Players who wish to claim the special prize should link the finished thread (the kink in question has been completed) under their rewards header with the header, Wedding Slot Machine. ▶ All new characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. The house is still observing and deciding. As rank and suits are assigned upon acceptance your new character's suit will not manifest until they are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's February event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Please make sure to review the arrival prompt notes! Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are priority and receive attention!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with the prompts on this TDM please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort.
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread anyway!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
▶ Thank you for spending Valentine's Day with us! You're our sweetheart this year. 💕
elizabeth wakes up, laying in what looks an awful lot like a corpse pose, and she stares in silence at the ceiling for entirely too long before finally deciding to get up. whoever her bed partner is gets ignored for the time being as she takes stock of where she is. lavish, for sure. a hotel, if she's not mistaken. it could use significantly more blue in its decoration but that's a note she could simply leave to whoever is in charge of decor. at least the lingerie she's been given to wear is blue. one point for whoever staged this.
she turns a bit to look at her bed partner, head tilted curiously as she tries to determine if she knows them or not. determining there are simply too many sheets and blankets in the way she gets up and immediately makes her way over to the buffet table.
that's where she'll be found whenever her new beau wakes, making her way through the lavish spread of food. elizabeth looks up, a sandwich halfway to her mouth, when she sets it back down again. the pull between their rings would let her partner know that she's calm right now, content, curious. ]
Oh, you're awake. You simply must come try some of the food they have left for us. I have been told these are finger foods, yet I have not found a single finger! They are either masked very well or there is another reason for the naming...
[ are there more pressing matters at hand? yes. does she particularly care? no. ]
ii. welcome; great tit!; chocolate boxes
Pardon me.
[ there's a small voice amongst the throng, elizabeth winding her way through the crowd with almost alarming ease. she ducks under a swinging arm, twirls out of the grasp of another patron, and manages to skip right over top of a body that has fallen to the ground to make her way to the front of the crowd. she lands with ease and holds her arm out, smiling serenely at the poor worker. ]
I will buy as many boxes as the funds on my watch will allow me.
[ elizabeth is handed three boxes--the last three of this release time, she's informed--and she nods her thanks before turning and skipping her way right back out of a crowd now glaring daggers into the back of her head.
she finds a nice spot to sit near a fountain (a pity she doesn't have any coins to offer to the water spirits!) and settles onto a bench, glancing up just briefly as a shadow passes by her. ]
Excuse me. Would you like to join me in partaking in these chocolates I have procured? I have been told they are a "hot commodity", though the boxes seem tepid at best. But I have found that sharing food with others is always far more enjoyable than keeping it all for yourself.
[ even if she still usually eats all of it. ]
iii. free love; the nest; costume line
[ elizabeth spends a good amount of time staring at herself in the mirror, a critical eye going over every detail of the costume that she has donned. she turns this way and that, ultimately pleased by the outfit choice (it comes with a very jaunty hat that she is particularly fond of), but she has certain concerns otherwise.
she exits the building still in the costume and begins to look around, lips pressed together. elizabeth stops the first person she sees, her brow furrowed together in consternation. ]
Are you, by chance, aware of any marinas that may be around here? I have not seen any on a map, but I feel the sudden intense need to see one.
[ a pause, and she looks down at herself. ]
However, this is perhaps not the safest choice of attire for life on a boat. On second thought, could you lead me to a place where I could procure some sunscreen first?
iv. pop up; casino chapel; slot machines
Oh! I have heard of these machines!
[ whoever is currently using a slot machine is going to be joined very suddenly by a rather... peculiar girl. her eyes are rapt with absolute fascination as she stares at the machines, first the one in front of her, then others around the two as lights and sounds go off. ]
This is called a slot machine, is it not? A machine wherein one puts coins in the hopes of obtaining more? These images in the middle are to spin and spin, tumbling near endlessly while they wait for fate to decide if the gambler is to receive their due fortune or not! More have been fooled by such machines than blessed by them, yet still they return again and again and-- oh! This one isn't normal, is it? I don't see a single slot to put a coin.
[ elizabeth has been examining every inch of the machine, her lips finally pulling downward into a small frown. ]
We can still try, anyway. Do you mind if I watch? Or would you like me to tempt the fates first?
((ooc; this can be either easy or difficult!))
v. wildcard ((ooc; much like the joker, elizabeth is also a wildcard. she can be found literally anywhere, getting into anything. if you have any thoughts, please feel free to dm me!))
[The more casual slot machines aren't really his thing, but a payout is a payout and he's not in a position to turn down some easy extra cash. Besides, it's always useful to chck out the newcomers.
There's something about her that makes him wonder. Too bad he's a few weeks short of meeting his game's attendant. She might notice, possibly, that he has some kind of potential. More than just the usual Persona user -- more like a guest before fully awakening their potential.]
Ah, yes. Many of the games here are... unique. This one is meant to encourage people to bond. There's a more intense version over there-- [He gestures in the direction of the spicy one.] But this is a good place to start.
[ she eyes him, her gaze narrowed just a little as if she's trying to put her finger on something. there's a familiar itch in the back of her mind, trying to tell her something, to pay attention, but it isn't strong enough to tell her what she's supposed to be looking for. but familiar it is all the same, reminiscent of something.
but the bells and whistles and lights are enough of a distraction that she can't follow that train of thought right now. instead her eyes shift back and forth between the machine in front of them and the one he gestured to and her face shifts to something more contemplative. ]
As eager as I am to overcome the greatest trials this place may have to offer, perhaps it would be more mindful to find my footing first. May I do the honors?
[Kotone had been debating the merits of wiggling her way through the crowd herself, both hands on her hips and cheek puffed out in a thoughtful pout when, as luck would have it, it sounds like someone wants to share. Good things do come to those who wait!
Something about this woman's way of speaking is almost painfully familiar, though, the strange formality and weird need to take everything literally. Her hand goes to her heart as if to hold that feeling close, then she turns, burying that wistfulness beneath a bright smile.]
Sure, I'd love... to?
[And yet, she can't help but tilt her head with a bit of clear curiosity, more confused than surprised. It's not like yellow eyes, that shade of hair, and a penchant for blue is unique to Theo, but-! It's still kind of strange, leaving her staring for perhaps a moment longer than is strictly polite.]
[ elizabeth's voice trails off and she does what she does best: immediately stares back. her gaze is unwavering, almost alarmingly so, and her head tips as something tugs at her heart. it's as though she knows this girl, everything about her even, and for the life of her, elizabeth can't figure out why. they've certainly never met, she would remember!
she eventually smiles, removing the lid from the topmost box of her small stack and plucks one of the chocolates from within before patting the seat next to her. the boxes are in the middle of the bench, easy for both of them to reach. ]
Please, feel free to join me, then. Indulge at your leisure.
bangs my fists on the table!! girl!!!! girl(s)!!!!!
[The sound of the other woman's voice seems to startle her out of her reverie, and in the blink of an eye, her lips are curved into another easy smile as she takes the offered seat.]
Thanks! I'm Kotone, by the way.
[She reaches to take a chocolate, though she doesn't pop it in her mouth just yet. There's something just nagging at her, and maybe this woman will think she's crazy for asking, but if she doesn't ask, she'll just wonder forever. A breath as she sits up straighter and glances sideways. Her smile doesn't waver as she tilts her head to ask,] Do you know someone named Theo?
[Like, again, it could be nothing! It's probably nothing! And yet, she can't shake this weird feeling...]
[ there's a fascination in the young lady's eyes that aventurine has not seen in a while. the ipc isn't known for its human touch. one with a heart of stone ought to look upon a world brimming with the rime of lost civilisations and see a non-performing asset that must be brought back under a proper yoke. but aventurine remembers the first time that topaz had looked upon the endless sea of a sunken world and had bitten back the golden spark of her eyes. this young lady reminds topaz a little of that moment, and a part of him wonders if he ever was like that.
it's a split second of a thing, a passerine flicker of a thought on the wings of a brilliant, far-flung bird, and aventurine is smiling up at the young lady. bands of cyberpunk purple and cornflower blue form that sigonian hallucination that bought aventurine the brand on his neck surveys the open lilt of her smile. the first thing she posits with the excitement of an open dictionary is a definition. aventurine is arching his brow as he observes the pull of her lips, up, then down, then with moue of deep consideration.
he raises his hands from where they had rested on the lever of the slot machine, flicks open his fingers in the universal gesture for 'all yours'. ]
There's nothing I quite enjoy more than watching a lovely young lady tempt fate. You'd do me quite the honour by going first and showing me how it ought to be done.
[ she watches him, waits with bated breath for his judgment to pass one way or the other. thankfully, no matter the decision he'd settle on she would have simply been delighted to be present for it. the epitome of just happy to be included. but when he makes the motion that she could be the one to pull the fateful lever, well, the joy is almost palpable.
elizabeth shifts just a bit to stand in front of the machine, her fingers trailing lightly over the lever as though working to memorize the shape of it. her other hand presses against her chest as she lets out a soft breath. ]
My heart is fluttering so strongly. I feel as though I am on the edge of a cliff. It is time to leap.
[ elizabeth pulls on the lever and immediately leans in, watching the dials spin and spin and spin until they finally reveal her fate to her. ]
Dance... with someone new... under a table.
[ she straightens up, confusion slowly giving way to delight. ]
[ the young lady says this with a showman's flair. there's the briefest beat of her hand pressed against the swell of her chest, a single, heart-felt moment wherein aventurine ponders at the narrative beats of a script. around and around the words go flitting across the even screen of a window into a gambler's soul. aventurine leans against the machine next door over as he surveys first the machine, and then the rapt gaze of the young woman beholding it.
it seems new to her. this isn't entirely unusual given the size of the galaxy and the disparity in wealth and access. but there's something entirely transparent about the way her expression morphs from bated confusion to the open glee of a coming dawn that has aventurine think she has lived for as long as she seems to have existed despite and in spite of that unfettered openness.
it piques his curiosity. aventurine brings his hands together in a polite clap, eyes curving as he surveys the words. a prophet, this slot machine. that's what it is. ]
Well done. I've learned a thing or two, from you. [ he says, and lets his hands drop back to the silk pockets of the teal thing he's wearing far beyond his station. ] So? What is it you plan on doing now that you've been presented with a challenge? Are you the sort to rise to it, or are you the sort to baulk? There's no shame either way, of course, [ aventurine says, in a way that implies there is, in fact, shame, ] but it looks benign enough, doesn't it?
[That is just her name. She gets what is going on, given the whole costume thing, but it's still funny. Marina will absolutely put herself in front of this other cute girl!]
That costume is so nice on you! You might have a hard time finding much purpose in it around here. Maybe you should change into something else? I was going to check out the options for myself.
[ one thing elizabeth can appreciate is a literal interpretation of absolutely anything ever, and this is as literal as her search for a marina can get. she gasps and holds a hand over her mouth in her astonishment. something akin to confusion swirls around inside of her head, though it's not her own. it's as though an outside force isn't entirely sure what to make of this situation before it finally settles on i mean, i guess! and takes its leave of her.
elizabeth smiles to herself and nods. ]
I think you will do just fine for what I am searching for. I'd be more than happy to join you in the search for something else.
[ realization that she hasn't introduced herself strikes her and she places a hand against her chest to give a small bow. ]
A pleasure, Elizabeth. [Marina's accent is an interesting one- part way between Italian and Czech, if not quite either in exacting detail. Everything is just a bit different in her world, but those are the two most similar influences.
She offers her hand forward in a gesture to hold hands, rather than shake]
Oh, take my hand, won't you? Let's sail away. [a playful giggle, happy to play along with the costume]
New horizons and new clothes await us. I want something really cute.
[ It may just be fate in itself that Mona ended up beside a young woman using the word so earnestly. As an astrologist intent on studying the stars and uncovering the truth of the universe, fate is something that Mona is very much familiar with. And likely encouraged by that, she steps in closer, glancing once at the other woman's face. The gold of her eyes is particularly striking, she thinks.
Not once in her life has Mona seen a mechanism like this before. Foreign as it is, its instructions appear simple enough: roll, complete a task, and earn a payout. However, given the resort's... eccentricities, she has to wonder just how unique the tasks provided will be. ]
I would suggest pulling the lever yourself. Therefore, no matter what it says, you will have to accept it. That is what we astrologists do regarding 'fate', too.
[ As Mona's Master would often say, 'fate cannot be changed nor reversed, only accepted'. It is a lesson she was taught very early into her apprenticeship. ]
Though, I would be careful, [ she adds. ] You may just roll something strange.
((ooc; randomized to difficult because it's actually just hilarious.))
[ elizabeth listens with very serious attention as the woman speaks, her hand on her chin in thought. if it's to be fate, she is beholden to it, isn't she? it's foolish to try to run, after all. the predestined path comes for us all eventually, for better or for worse. this is something that she knows all too well.
her eyes go to the machine again and she hums thoughtfully, fingers drumming against her chin before she finally nods her head with resolve. ]
I shall face it head-on. Though I would be interested in hearing about your astrology later, if you have the time.
[ there could be answers out there, after all. there are many avenues that elizabeth needs to check on in her search of her own.
for now, there are less pressing but equally exciting issues to take care of. ]
"Strange" is just another word for new and exciting, if you are to ask my opinion. So here goes nothing.
[ the flashing lights and tantalizing noises enthrall her and elizabeth can't help but lean in as she watches the dials turn and turn and turn, eventually revealing her fortune: lick on face under a table.
elizabeth settles back on her heels as she tries to process what that could possibly mean. ]
Of course, [ Mona says, her features noticeably brightening. ] I would be happy to speak on the subject.
[ She averts her gaze, then, settling it on the slot machine in front of the other. It doesn't appear threatening at a glance, but she has witnessed an incident or two already when she had been lingering around earlier. To Mona's relief, when she'd tested it herself, it hadn't rung up anything too damaging.
The level is pulled, and with it, an accompany of flashing lights and tinkling music. Each small phrase clicks into place one at a time, the large, colorful text reflecting in the irises of both women. She finds herself straightening up in anticipation.
LICK > ON FACE > UNDER TABLE
And for a moment, Mona can only stare at the results with a blank expression. ]
[Akira pauses as he's addressed. Seeing this person... Something about her is strangely familiar, and he can't quite put his finger on it. It lingers oddly in his mind for a moment before he shakes off the surprise, replacing it with a slight smile. Perhaps it was just the color of her eyes and hair that reminded him of someone else he knew.]
Those are the special Valentine's Day boxes people have been fighting over. I wouldn't mind sharing a few, but... [He shrugs a little, still taking a seat with her anyway.] Are you sure you don't want to save it for someone more special? You don't even know my name yet.
[He doesn't really care for sweets that much, but he does like novelty things. And more than that... there's something endearing about her phrasing.]
[ there's a tugging inside of her, an insistent little buzzing when this stranger turns to look at her that makes her sit up and pay more attention. there's something. familiar. she feels like she should know what it is, should be able to pinpoint it immediately but there's almost... a shutter over her mind, blocking her from finding the answer.
but she smiles at him instead and shakes her head, something wistful crossing across her face. ]
There is certainly someone specific I would like to share these candies with, but he is not here. I would know if he was.
[ elizabeth shakes her head a few times, like that's all it would take to be able to shake off her thoughts of him, and she uncovers one of the boxes. ]
And so it is with this sharing of food that I would extend a hand of friendship. My name is Elizabeth.
You would know, huh? Sounds like a star-crossed friend.
[It's said jokingly, but still delivered softly. Something about the look on her face... Akira can't help but feel like he's brought up someone she misses, and he feels a little bad for that. He has his own people he misses, too... even if it's a complicated knot in his chest of whether or not he'd want them here with him, stuck having sex to get free.
But that's not something Akira can solve, nor can he solve this girl's special person being absent. So he offers a smile that's just a little bit gentler.]
But I'll have to accept in that case, then. It's nice to meet you, Elizabeth-san. I'm Akira Kurusu. [Curiously, he tilts his head to the side enough that his glasses reflect a little of the light.] Is this the first of the food that you've tried here?
[Yellow eyes never fail to send a faint shiver down his spine. Chalk it up to his particular experience with Shadows, maybe; the Midnight Channel versions of the people he saved --the people who later became his friends-- always managed to leave them all feeling unsettled and exhausted.
But...Yu isn't feeling the exact same thing now. It's hard to put a name to what he is feeling, though; he almost doesn't hear the request past his own musing, past the line of questioning he's running through in his head. But-- the Midnight Channel is gone, and wherever this place actually is, he's a long way from Inaba. There's still something about her that he can't quite place, something about the way she speaks or a feeling...but he's not going to figure that out right away. He puts it in the back of his mind for now.
So-- with a small smile,] I haven't seen anyone put coins in, either. [But plenty of people are still playing.] Try pulling it anyway?
[ there was something that had drawn her to him and his machine specifically. it was as though her feet had guided her here without her realizing but, now that she was next to him, she could almost tell what it was. it's comforting and familiar, whatever it is, and it immediately puts elizabeth at ease.
the smile is returned and she lightly taps on the glass, pondering something, before she eventually nods. ]
You're right. There is no knowing the answer without trying.
[ and so she pulls, anticipation growing as the dials spin more and more. eventually they land, giving way to the words hold hands with someone new on the altar and she hums thoughtfully, her head tilting quizzically. ]
[There's an intense curiosity that begins to sneak up on him, the more they talk. Something about her feels almost...nostalgic? No, not quite that. Whatever it is, it's refreshingly familiar -- and, maybe, just the slightest bit intimidating. Who does it remind him of...? It'll come to him, eventually, but for now, he's content just to let his mind work the problem while he talks with her.
He peers over her shoulder as she pulls the lever, watching the options spin slower, slower...
Well. That's certainly not the weirdest option he's seen thus far.]
I guess you could look at it that way. I think you get a prize if you do the challenge.
[ Oh, this is quite the amusing woman Mei Mei is faced with as she makes yet another trip to the slot machines. ]
You're already tempting enough. I'd be happy to spin if you promise to help me meet the challenge?
[ She steps up to the machine and gives it a spin, amused by the results. ]
Under a table, hmmm? Shall we?
[ Whether she's giving a piggyback ride to or fingering this woman, her own pussy is going to be on full display thanks to the faux-garter stockings (no panties) and deep purple virgin killer sweater dress she's wearing. Someone is going to get an eyeful unless they find a table with a long tablecloth to obscure them. ]
[ it isn't often--rare, in fact--that elizabeth is faced with someone that leaves her feeling unprepared. she's nothing if not an open person, willing to take on all challenges that she could face, but the air that this woman has around her is unlike anything she has ever come across.
she isn't scary, exactly. maybe it's something to do with the confidence she's carrying herself. the outfit is... eye-catching, to say the least, something that elizabeth is relatively certain she has seen on the covers of magazines in the convenience stores that he would take her to when she would venture out with him.
elizabeth reads the words but-- no, she doesn't quite understand. there are no cats present, as far as she can tell, and even if there were she doesn't think any of them would be easily identified as the perpetrator of a crime.
there has to be something she's missing here. she'll figure it out. ]
I will follow your lead.
[ because that's really all she can do right now. ]

May I do the honors?

ii!!! liz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's still kind of strange, leaving her staring for perhaps a moment longer than is strictly polite.]
it's THE GIRL(s)!!!
And yet, she can't shake this weird feeling...]

it's a split second of a thing, a passerine flicker of a thought on the wings of a brilliant, far-flung bird, and aventurine is smiling up at the young lady. bands of cyberpunk purple and cornflower blue form that sigonian hallucination that bought aventurine the brand on his neck surveys the open lilt of her smile. the first thing she posits with the excitement of an open dictionary is a definition. aventurine is arching his brow as he observes the pull of her lips, up, then down, then with moue of deep consideration.
he raises his hands from where they had rested on the lever of the slot machine, flicks open his fingers in the universal gesture for 'all yours'. ]
There's nothing I quite enjoy more than watching a lovely young lady tempt fate. You'd do me quite the honour by going first and showing me how it ought to be done.

elizabeth shifts just a bit to stand in front of the machine, her fingers trailing lightly over the lever as though working to memorize the shape of it. her other hand presses against her chest as she lets out a soft breath.
A challenge has been presented!
no subject
it seems new to her. this isn't entirely unusual given the size of the galaxy and the disparity in wealth and access. but there's something entirely transparent about the way her expression morphs from bated confusion to the open glee of a coming dawn that has aventurine think she has lived for as long as she seems to have existed despite and in spite of that unfettered openness.
it piques his curiosity. aventurine brings his hands together in a polite clap, eyes curving as he surveys the words. a prophet, this slot machine. that's what it is. ]

I was going to check out the options for myself.
oh my god please
elizabeth smiles to herself and nods. ]
I think you will do just fine for what I am searching for. I'd be more than happy to join you in the search for something else.
[ realization that she hasn't introduced herself strikes her and she places a hand against her chest to give a small bow. ]
I am Elizabeth.

She offers her hand forward in a gesture to hold hands, rather than shake]
Oh, take my hand, won't you? Let's sail away. [a playful giggle, happy to play along with the costume]
New horizons and new clothes await us. I want something really cute.

] You may just roll something strange.
no subject
I see.
[ she doesn't actually see. ]

Lick...?
[ ...on face????? ]

And more than that... there's something endearing about her phrasing.]
no subject
but she smiles at him instead and shakes her head, something wistful crossing across her face.

But...Yu isn't feeling the exact same thing now. It's hard to put a name to what he is feeling, though; he almost doesn't hear the request past his own musing, past the line of questioning he's running through in his head. But-- the Midnight Channel is gone, and wherever this place actually is, he's a long way from Inaba. There's still something about her that he can't quite place, something about the way she speaks or a feeling...but he's not going to figure that out right away. He puts it in the back of his mind for now.
So-- with a small smile,] I haven't seen anyone put coins in, either. [But plenty of people are still playing.] Try pulling it anyway?
collects wildcards like pokemon
the smile is returned and she lightly taps on the glass, pondering something, before she eventually nods. ]
You're right. There is no knowing the answer without trying.
[ and so she pulls, anticipation growing as the dials spin more and more. eventually they land, giving way to the words hold hands with someone new on the altar and she hums thoughtfully, her head tilting quizzically. ]
Is it... a mission?
gotta catch em all
He peers over her shoulder as she pulls the lever, watching the options spin slower, slower...
Well. That's certainly not the weirdest option he's seen thus far.]
I guess you could look at it that way. I think you get a prize if you do the challenge.
