EVENS
EVENS: NEW CHARACTERS
Music plays. Instrumental, the tune gentle enough not to disturb peaceful rest. The sudden insistent beep of the Watch is a cutting cacophony across an otherwise sweet lullaby. Upon opening their eyes, new arrivals will quickly discover that something is wrong. The quilt snug across their body is weighty. Crystals glint in a weave of embroidery and cotton shimmers with threads of silver. Dozens of decorative pillows surround the bed. The gauzy curtains of the canopied bed are drawn, obscuring the rest of the room.
Extravagant for a kidnapping. Too extravagent. What’s more, these new guests will find something even stranger than this new diamond-studded suite tucked into bed beside them. Someone else. Who are they, what are they wearing? What happened last night?!
Guests are encouraged to explore the resort from here! There are paper maps available for those who would like and staff are happy to recommend locations if they have any preferences. Enjoy your honeymoon, you lovebirds!
ODDS
ODDS: SPECIAL RE-ARRIVAL
Never trust a hallway in the Golden peacock.
Cross the wrong threshold and time begins to slow. A short hallway becomes long, sheds its doors, only leading to turns without end. Guests too eager to explore the resort have gotten lost before. For how long always varies, dependent upon capriciousness of the resort. Hours? Yes. Years? Yes. Every guest caught in the winding hallways has reported the same thing: time is different there and too difficult to discern.
Some wayward guests have been caught in the endless hallways since the FIRST TDM. Weeks pass before a single doorway appears in the distance. It creaks upon opening before everything goes topsy-turvy. These guests have been let out of a trap door in the depths of Crane's Respite.
All water corridors will eventually lead back to the populated areas of Crane's Respite. The waters are warm, the scent of bath salts returns, and staff are wild with joy at finally finding all of you. They have been beside themselves searching ever since you vanished!
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Because we love all of the new characters premiering on this TDM, we kindly request that our Evens prompt be top level exclusive for new characters. Current characters are encouraged to tag in to these prompts with the caveat that they’ve been picked up from their assigned suite (or wherever else they were before) and dumped into the new arrival’s bed. We would like for new characters to have this prompt unique to their top level comments!
▶ Players are welcome to have their current character riff off of these prompts in the log community with the exclusion of the new arrival element. This request is just for TDM top levels.
▶ Current characters and new characters are both welcome to freely mess around with the Odds prompt with the exclusion of the arrival element. For new characters, players may participate with the idea that their character is exploring Crane’s Respite after their unique arrival in the Evens prompt. The Odds arrival element may also be utilized by current player characters who may have been on an unofficial hiatus in January and did not tag as much as they would have liked, to explain any long IC absence.
▶ Octopi may be killed. If a character decides to eat one of the octopi they may find themselves taking on some of its traits. Which traits are up to player discretion.
ELEVATORS
ELEVATORS
The house has recently ordered a full changeout of art in all high traffic areas. The elevators in particular have received special attention with many different famous artworks and portraits studded to the walls for guests to admire. These artworks are treasures of the modern world that one would typically see behind glass at a museum. Guests may even find works from their own world hanging in the elevators. Even famous works that maybe have been lost to time. So this is where they ended up. Is that Vermeer's The Concert?
Guests may find their elevator suddenly stopping without warning. The portraits on the wall stir, curiously studying them, but there are three main portraits calling the shots. The portrait that controls that particular elevator will make their demands known with the threat that, if they are not obeyed, you will be trapped forever.
Elevators will function after the portrait's demands are met. Guests that hold out and refuse may find themselves trapped upwards of twelve hours. Guests with the ability to do so may crawl out of the top emergency door, free to go wherever they want from there.
GREAT TIT!
GREAT TIT!
Great Tit! is the Golden Peacock’s popular dessert bar and cafe. With its bright pops of color and whimsical treats, guests simply can’t resist stopping in for a butt shaped cookie and hazelnut coffee. After catching wind that the resort has decided to celebrate a dessert shop's most lucrative holiday, Great Tit! is ready to impress the masses. Advertisements for limited edition drinks and desserts rain the main lobby; one can’t go three steps without slipping on a neon pink coupon for 10 percent off nipple buns. Guests that decide to pass by the cafe will find themselves assaulted with confetti cannons and eager employees ushering them inside.
Guests will find a temporary communal shower room upon exiting Great Tit! where they can wash off after a fun day of rolling around in sugar. All guests will be gifted a tee branded with a, CHOCOLATE IS MY LOVER logo.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ This portraits prompt has been triggered by several characters expressing interest in and investigating the lore of the resort paintings. This is just dipping a beginning toe in, but congrats to all for poking around!
▶ Portraits in the elevator should not be destroyed, purely for continuity’s sake. If a character would go far enough to attack one of the portraits, the portrait will slap them back with ghostly power.
▶ Characters may also figure other ways out of the elevator if they have specific abilities to do so. While the portraits can control the elevators, they cannot control your character(s). Any destruction to the elevator itself is liable to result in a rush of security dragging the culprit(s) away to the Iron Net.
▶ Great Tit! is running a massive sale! Even characters who are on the broke end of the spectrum will be able to afford to join in on the fun and indulge in sugar at these prices.
▶ Players are encouraged to make up any other elements for the Hall of Chocolate. If it’s a dessert and edible, it’s there. Enjoy your sugar coma!
▶ While the chocolate boxes are ICly limited due to Alessandro’s skills as a chocolatier, this is only an IC mechanic. There is no OOC limitation on this prompt as far as chocolate rarity goes.
THE NEST
ALICE AND THE PARROTS
Fashion boutiques are a dime a dozen in the Nest. The shopping hub is massive, lined with stores all trying to aggressively appeal to guests. A challenge in itself — but the guests of the Golden Peacock are no ordinary people. Used to being pampered and fed excitement, if these boutiques don’t bust their bottoms to appeal to the fickle nature of their patrons, they won’t be in business for much longer! One particular boutique, Alice and the Parrots, is riding winds of romantic thrill and churning out a couple of brand new fashion lines sure to draw in loads of chips.
Guests are welcome to try on clothes in Alice and the Parrots' dressing rooms. These dressing rooms are small and can only accommodate two people sharing at a time. Such is the life of a small boutique store. Sharing is no big deal, right? And there’s no way you can buy clothing this expensive without giving it a test first.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Players are encouraged to make up whatever cute outfits they would like for this prompt.
▶ Wedding clothes do not have to be cute and frilly; this section accommodates tastes of everyone.
▶ Alice and the Parrots is more expensive than Love Dove. Their clothing quality is excellent but their price tags are high. Staff may watch low ranks extra diligently to cut off any stealing. Thieves will be chased by NPC security! Anyone caught gets a day in the Iron Net.
CASINO CHAPEL
CASINO FLOOR
A Pop up Chapel has appeared in the Phoenix Casino. Guests are delighting in playing out weddings and pretending to get married — and a few guests are even tying the knot for real. They aren't worried about the sanctity of marriage; they can divorce tomorrow if they get bored of each other. And everyone knows that getting married doesn't mean you can't fuck whoever you want!
Since the resort isn't keeping track of how many marriages a guest has, all guests are encouraged to marry as many people as they would like. The more the merrier!
Wild wedding events will continue all throughout the month of February, until the guests find it's gotten stale. A divorce rush will round out the fun at the end of the month.
NOTES
PROMPT NOTES
▶ Weddings are not legally binding. Birdvis is not registered as a real officiant, but he does have an excellent beak and pompadour.
▶ Prizes from easy mode slot machines are automatic and do not require mod thumbs up to claim.
▶ Chip prize from difficult mode slot machines is automatic. The special prize is 5 reward points to add to your bank on rewards. Players who wish to claim the special prize should link the finished thread (the kink in question has been completed) under their rewards header with the header, Wedding Slot Machine. ▶ All new characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. The house is still observing and deciding. As rank and suits are assigned upon acceptance your new character's suit will not manifest until they are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's February event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Please make sure to review the arrival prompt notes! Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are priority and receive attention!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with the prompts on this TDM please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort.
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread anyway!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
▶ Thank you for spending Valentine's Day with us! You're our sweetheart this year. 💕
[ A weighty, high quality quilt isn't particularly unusual for someone used to a comfortable amount of luxury like Gaku, but the crystals and light music are a bit much. Even so, he doesn't stir until the beeping of his Watch becomes obnoxious enough that he finally sits up and messes with it until he gets it to go silent, his brain slowly catching up to the unfamiliarity of everything around him, including the crisp, well-fit tuxedo he currently has on.
Furrowing his brows, Gaku looks around at the canopied bed, the quilt pooled around his hips, and then... at the person next to him in bed.
This is new.
So new, in fact, that a wave of panic shoots through him and into his new spouse, courtesy of the charm in the gold band he has yet to notice on his ring finger. ]
Hey, you awake?
[ Sorry, that's the best he can do right now. ]
ii. fellow newlyweds;
[ Everything passes in what feels like a blur, so much so that he's barely realized it when he's found himself in one of the wedding lounges. Seeking something to hold onto, he grabs a mimosa and is soon in front of one of the clothing racks, the fingers of his free hand running curiously across the fine fabrics. ]
This is high quality...
[ Are they really allowed to just take these? ]
iii. elevators; (18+ only)
[ The paintings catch Gaku's eye from the moment he steps onto the elevator, intricate brushstrokes and beautiful portraits deserving of a closer look. He takes in all of the fine details, merely smiling and nodding at whoever joins him for the ride before turning back to the paintings. The elevator stops in the middle of its smooth ride, though, and Gaku quickly reaches out to place a steadying hand on the shoulder or arm of whoever he's with when it feels like the cabin drops a couple of feet. He's about to say something when one of the paintings speaks up before he can, and he quickly lets go of his new friend, distracted by the novelty of a painting speaking at all. ]
iii-a. hard-up maiden;
[ The more the maiden speaks, the less Gaku thinks she's all that maidenly and the more his cheeks flush. He feels warm, like the elevator has become swelteringly hot, but he's all too aware that it's him.
He takes a breath, collecting himself. It seems to work well enough, because he has no trouble looking his company right in the eye. ]
What do you wanna do about this?
[ It's clear that working together is the only way they'll get out, so he figures they should start somewhere. ]
iii-b. teasing trio;
[ Something cute or sweet? That's not a big deal. Gaku's an idol, he does cute or sweet on the regular, whether that be in a drama he guest stars in or a photoshoot. That's why it's easy enough for him to channel that energy, cute and definitely sweet, as he grins at his companion. ]
Sounds easy. [ He holds out his hand. ] Come on.
[ Though if the trio wants more... well, he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it. ]
iv. slots slots slots;
[ Gaku has always considered marriage to be a precious thing, so much so that despite challenging his ideas of marriage the very moment he arrived, he still finds himself marveling at the way guests treat it so casually. But guests will do whatever they like regardless of Gaku's own feelings, so he watches them do just that before he finds himself curious enough to try out one of the slot machines.
He feels almost lucky, his first challenge simply: give a piggyback to someone new on the dancefloor. It's easy enough that he has no problem picking someone out from the crowd and asking them with a grin: ]
Want a piggyback ride?
v. wildcard;
[ Feel free to hit me with one of the prompts I didn't cover, including other slots challenges (though I ask that anything spicy or romantic be with characters 18+ only)! Feel free to PM me to work out a different prompt or custom starter as well. ]
[Nova has been meandering through the casino hall pretty aimlessly so far. he's definitely feeling overwhelmed, not simply because of what is going on around him, but for more of the idea of it all. is he really safe here? could he finally relax, after years of not relaxing?
the question catches him off-guard. he turns to look at the person who just spoke with a curious expression. the man is tall, whereas Nova, even as an adult, stands at about 166 centimeters. he'd be easy for this person to lift, for sure! he's also in a relaxed wedding dress, since he hasn't been able to change out of it yet. he did kick off the matching pink pumps a while back.
while he is a demon, he has grown accustomed to masking his demonic features, so a normal human will see just another human. for now. if he deems this place safe, maybe he'll stop using his ability]
Uh...?
[a challenge! his Watch beeps but he ignores it in favor of trying to figure out what's going on]
[ Gaku isn't fazed by the confusion, his grin only widening as he bends down low enough so Nova can hop onto his back. ]
It's one of those slot challenges. I figured it was easy enough.
[ This guy looks relatively light and is quite a bit shorter, so giving him a piggy back ride shouldn't be much trouble, even though Gaku has only ever worked out in the name of getting stronger rather than gaining any real significant strength.
He's already mapping out his route, making sure that there's a clear path for him to move around and not bump into someone or accidentally knock his challenge partner off his back. ]
[why would Nova turn down a piggyback from a handsome guy? well, he wouldn't, even if he is still quite unsure about this place. after a moment, he climbs onto the man's back carefully]
What are the slot challenges?
[was he paying attention? no, probably not. there's too much on his mind]
[ It's a bit of effort hauling someone around, but he adjusts easily enough after a few steps. There's no way he can make it more than a lap or two around the dancefloor, though, and he knows that the moment he starts walking.
It'll be a short piggyback ride, but at least his strides are smooth. ]
The wedding slots. They're some special game you can play right now, I guess. You win stuff for completing challenges.
[What registers first is the familiar but still disorienting feeling of emotions that are not their own - panic they can't place until the rest of their senses catch up to them and they notice the man in bed with them.
Oh.
Where did he come from? His isn't a face they recognize, which is perhaps the strangest thing about all of this.]
Well, I am now.
[They sit up, looking around the room and arching an eyebrow at how... excessive it all seems. It's certainly fancier than anywhere they've ever stayed before.]
Sorry, have we met before?
[Also, why do they have a ring now? They're not usually much of a jewelry person... Absolutely none of this adding up.]
[ At least, he doesn't think they have. It's hard for Gaku to recall everyone he's ever met when he's shaken the hands of so many fans, but the fact that this person doesn't recognize him in turn tells him that they're definitely not a fan.
Some of the panic flowing through him subsides, simply because it's nice to not be in this situation alone. Even if that means waking up in bed with someone he doesn't know. ]
I'm pretty sure I went to bed at my own place last night. What about you?
[ In other words, he doesn't think this is the result of drunken decisions. ]
[The panic eases up, which is nice, Hyacinth's shoulders relaxing. They hadn't even realized they were tensed up before hand, and at his question their head cocks.]
I was plannin' on working late to get ahead for the season change comin' up on us. Was just gonna sleep there an' get back to work early, too.
[It was, by all accounts, an incredibly average night for them. They can't pin down anything that would explain this, because everything they remember was just business as usual. No strange encounters, no weird occurrences, nothing out of the ordinary that's suspicious in hindsight.]
Well, stranger, ya got a name I can use? Since we're wrapped up in this mystery together seems like a good place to start.
[So they can just stop thinking of him as the odd ring man.]
[ Oh. Right. A name would be a good start, wouldn't it? ]
Gaku Yaotome, but just Gaku is fine.
[ There really isn't a need for formalities, he thinks, not when they've woken up in bed together. Already, he feels like they've crossed that little bridge. ]
What about you?
[ It's only fair, right?
Gaku gets up, smoothing out the pants of his tux just out of habit as he looks at what the room has to offer beyond the decadent canopy obscuring the bed. ]
( getting stuck in an elevator wasn't on erza's list of things to do today, let alone getting stuck with someone else. nevermind the talking painting. that was never going to be in her stack of guesses for anything.
she looks to the doors that aren't opening, the painting that's somehow talking, then to the man beside her. he seems far too amenable to go along with the request of some ridiculous painting. is that even real? is this some trickery afoot?? sure, it might be something easy to take his hand, but something about the situation makes erza feel a bit uncomfortable.
but, she supposes as she looks to the man again, he's appealing in a way that's eye-catching; she could see herself gossiping with her friends about a man like him. so, she sniffs, casts her gaze to the side for a brief moment before returning it as something more determind. then, she slips her hand against his; her skin may be soft, but there are definitely callouses on her hands — near the base of her fingers, in the space between index and thumb, )
Alright. ( a pause, ) Do you often give in so quickly to inanimate objects?
[ His smile widens in an easy way when she looks back to him again, and he can feel that she's assessing him, possibly calculating the risk of taking his hand. It seems he passes that test, though, because her hand slips into his. ]
I've never had to give in to an inanimate object before. Maybe I do.
[ Talking paintings are new to him, and anything new like this could pose some sort of danger. If paintings can talk, what else might they be able to do? It's that unknown possibility that has him twining their fingers together, his fingers brushing up lightly against those callouses. In contrast, Gaku's hands are completely smooth, his skin soft in a way that gives away his habit of putting on hand cream. ]
Think we should argue with it?
[ He lifts an eyebrow. It's an idea he isn't opposed to, at least. ]
( truth be known, it makes her feel some kind of way to have some strange man holding her hand that has nothing to do with any sort of urges from this place. she's simply not used to it; and somehow it's different from her constantly initiating touch with her closest friends.
she looks at their hands, her browns pinched in consternation. whatever, it's not a big deal. her attention shifts to the painting, somehow the trio smug and pleased in their oil on canvas state. it doesn't make any sense. why in the world would any painting want to see anything? there must be someone behind it. magic, perhaps?
lifting her free hand she reaches out to touch the painting itself, fingers gliding over it and feels the bumps of the dried paint, the scratchiness of the canvas, the protests to her touch—
erza jerks that hand back and holds it against her chest as they titter at her reaction. she frowns.
[ It's hard to reconcile the mixture of amusement at her threat and the consternation he feels as Gaku watches her interact with the painting before ultimately drawing her hand back, only to be met with laughter.
But the fact that the paintings seem to have the upper hand here is what ultimately makes him frown. He doesn't like seeing this girl mocked, especially when it's so clear that she doesn't want to be caught up in this situation. ]
Got a lighter?
[ If she does, he'll even be the one to volunteer to make an attempt to torch the canvas himself and face whatever consequences come to him. And if not... well, maybe he can punch the painting instead. ]
[ careful where you let your hands wander, gaku, because eventually you'll find one of those clothes ranks give a little shiver and a squeak of surprise. closer inspection will show that those robes he's standing in front of have a pair of bare legs doing their best impression of shaky leaves, and parting said robes will reveal olivia hunched over and hugging herself in an effort to keep herself decent as it appears she's still in those skimpy lingerie she'd woken up in... ]
I'm s-sorry, this is taken...!
[ "this"? surely she doesn't intend to stay there..... ]
[ Gaku jumps back like he's touched a hot stove, and it's really a miracle that he didn't let out a little shout. He almost regrets opening up those robes to reveal the woman hiding inside, and he does his best to look anywhere but directly at her. Surely if he looks at a point just above his shoulder, he can pretend that she's not wearing skimpy lingerie... ]
Do... you need help getting out of the rack? You can keep the robe.
I-Is this yours? I'm sorry, I was trying to find an unoccupied one..!
[ she lets out a miserable sigh. maybe she should explain herself here... ]
When I got here, it was still pretty empty. But I couldn't find anything in my size, and then suddenly so many people started coming in! I couldn't let them s-see me, so I ducked in here... But all of these robes are too big for me.
[ they would certainly fall right off, if they weren't already too heavy for her to lug around. ]
[ An unoccupied rack...? It takes him a moment, his brain getting stuck on that little detail before he ultimately decides it's unimportant. The robe was certainly heavy in his hand for the split second he had it in his hands. ]
Yeah, most of the stuff on this rack is closer to my size.
[ And all of it's so decadent that it would be uncomfortable even for Gaku to lug around. He briefly glances at the other racks, attempting to calculate how long it would take for him to find something for her amongst all the clothing. Then, he suddenly realizes— ]
Want my jacket? I have a shirt on underneath it, so it's fine if you have it. It'll cover you up some while we look for something else.
[ In fact, he's already undoing the buttons so he can take it off and hand it over. ]
I beg your pardon? You can't possibly believe this will be easy.
[ Mona manages to huff, but she still ends up giving a cautionary glance towards the three portraits and their expectant faces. They—well, it's clear from their expressions that they're looking forward to something exciting. Mona would be blind not to recognize that. And with the way magic seems to prevail over the resort, she really does doubt that escape will be possible without the trio's permission.
Crossing her arms, she returns her gaze to the young man beside her. There's a hint of pink already in her cheeks. ]
These things... I'm sure they're full of trickery!
[ His hand drifts back to his side as he does his best to focus on the girl beside him rather than the painting staring expectant holes into the two of them. Idly, he finds himself thinking that the light flush to her cheeks highlights how cute she is. ]
What do you think we should do? Negotiating won't work if they wanna get one over on us.
[ Anything magic related is outside the realm of Gaku's understanding, but the way one of the paintings giggles tells him that this girl has a point. These paintings are certainly up to something, and they might have to go beyond simply holding hands if they want to escape.
So, he fixes her with a determined look. ]
But if you want to negotiate or fight them... I'll help you.
[ And that he'll help her in going along with their request goes unsaid, though he thinks his willingness to do that too is obvious enough. ]
I admit we are... certainly stuck, but... [ She glances up at the ceiling and its corners, then to the firmly shut door to their right. ] ...There must be an alternative. Not just anyone could do this, could they?
[ Or maybe that's not true. He didn't seem ruffled by the request, actually. Is it just Mona that is feeling self-conscious? Admittedly, she does lack the experience... If it truly were as simple as holding hands, she could do it without a fuss, but—there's more to it. Just one look at the portraits made that clear: they want entertainment beyond latching fingers. ]
I'll negotiate. I don't think fighting them would result in anything good.
[ Stepping forward, Mona lifts her chin and squints at the middle of the three paintings. ]
What is it that you'd like to see us do? If it's—agreeable enough, we'll consider it.
[ The figures lean in towards each other and mutter amongst themselves. When they come to a conclusion, the leftmost speaks in a sing-songy voice. ]
First, a kiss! Ah, ah, but don't think it can be a simple peck! That's not enough for us three. We want to see a deep one! The kind in romance novels!
[ Mona quickly turns her head to look at Gaku, flushing hot. ]
[ Gaku steps back, giving Mona a bit of space so she can negotiate with them. Despite how flustered she seems to be, she at least holds herself well in negotiation. He feels almost confident that they can get out of here without having to do much beyond a peck on the lips or a kiss on the cheek—
He doesn't get to hope for long, though, nervousness passing through him when what the trio wants is laid out in front of them both in plain words. Gaku is confident and ready to tackle most things, especially when there are a wide array of possibilities before him.
But those possibilities have been shoved aside, and now he can feel the tips of his ears growing warm. It's already hard enough looking over at Mona, and the flush on her face makes it that much harder. He's kissed plenty of people for dramas or at the end of dates, but this feels different. ]
Are you okay with that?
[ Have you kissed someone like that before? He wants to ask, wondering if they're in a similar inexperienced boat, but it feels too forward, even in this situation. ]
[He's fine with fanservice, but this is going a bit overboard.
That said, he isn't panicking. Maybe it's because the situation feels too absurd to take seriously, or maybe it's because the person he's trapped with seems cool and level-headed. Considerate, too, judging from his behavior when the elevator malfunctioned. A responsible older brother type, perhaps! And a handsome one, with the kind of face you see in magazines—not that Hiyori's "hard-up" like that portrait girl. He's just calling it like he sees it! His face has featured in many a magazine, too, after all.]
Well, her request was rather vague when you think about it.
[He smiles. It's only a little forced. No unpleasant thoughts, no anger! He's still in control here, or so he tells himself.]
I'm sure neither of us wants to go the literal route. But "delight" can be achieved in all sorts of ways, and there's more than one way to appeal to your audience! So, why not try to negotiate?
[ Gaku eyes his new partner in elevator hell, briefly wondering if he's seen his face somewhere. Surely, someone that looks as neatly manicured as him is some sort of idol or actor... but ah, he can't place his face no matter how many dramas or magazine spreads he shuffles through in his memories.
Being met with a smile eases whatever nerves were starting to rear their ugly head and his shoulders relax almost involuntarily. ]
You're right. Maybe if we give her attention, she'll let us out.
[ So, Gaku squares his shoulders as he faces this certainly not innocent maiden, opening his mouth to offer some sort of fanservice in exchange for being let go. She's much quicker than him, however, firing back before he can even get a single word out— ]
I can hear you, you know. Don't think you'll get out of this so easily! I've already decided I want to watch, so show me something steamy and I'll think about letting you go.
[ Gaku frowns, glancing towards Hiyori. "Sexual delight" and "something steamy" makes it clear that she has an idea of what she wants, and neither of them are going to convince her otherwise, even though the idea is absurd enough that Gaku can barely wrap his head around it. If he was alone, he'd simply attempt to fight her, but he doesn't want to inadvertently hurt someone else.
So, with a sigh, he motions for Hiyori to come closer. ]
You can try if you want, but I don't think she's gonna budge.
[He doesn't think he remembers that handsome face from anywhere, though that's not saying a lot. Hiyori doesn't pay much attention to the broader industry unless he's researching something for a job, and ES is sort of its own little bubble. They even have a miniature island to themselves! Which might sound stifling, but considering what's happened now that he's left his bubble...
Anyway, Gaku's takeaway causes him to blink. "Give her attention?" That's not quite what he meant, though flirting with a portrait would certainly be an improvement over obscene acts with a stranger (and with nary a bed in sight, too!). One might make him feel stupid, but the other would dirty his soul. Not that it wasn't unclean to start with, but—
Nope, it's a non-starter. That shrill voice fills the air again, barking more orders. Which just causes the remnants of his smile to fade, brows drawing together and eyes narrowing. How dare anyone give him orders?
But it's not just him. There's also that other man involved, who beckons him over and sighs a defeated sigh. Hiyori can't really fault him for anything. Though, actually, the man does have few things he could work on. First, he seems to give up too easily! Second, he doesn't understand certain marketing techniques. And third, he ought to think outside the box more!]
That's not too great a surprise. Even if we shower her with love, she can't do anything in return while she's stuck inside the portrait. But that might just be a convenient cover story. I don't know if you know this, but some girls really like seeing two men act close with each other. So if that's what she's after, flirting with her won't cut it.
[He rattles all this off like he knows what he's talking about. Because he does, more or less; one of his units debuted with a performance where he and his stage partner made a show of touching and almost-kissing each other. And the fans went wild for it! You could say things got steamy under the stage lights, and that they were sweating beneath their costumes.
Which is where his whole idea comes from. It's a shot in the dark, and this is not the ideal stage, but it'll have to do!]
Do you know how to dance at all?
[He takes a step back, posing the question with another smile.]
[ Gaku has to bite back a little laugh at the miniature lecture, both because he knows that this guy definitely has a point and that he definitely works in the industry. Only someone with his uppity groupmate's level of knowledge of the industry would say anything as observant of other's desires and behaviors.
It's why there's a little smile on his face even before Hiyori poses his question, widening as he holds out a hand. ]
It's one of the things I'm best at.
[ That he's trained in dance for years and performed on stage more times than he can count can be something he divulges later—right now, that he can dance at all is more prudent. ]
What do you think we should do? A waltz, tango? Or something closer to a pop style?
[ He's trained in all, so he'll leave this up to Hiyori. Besides, Gaku has a feeling that he's already got an idea in his head anyway.
Fanservice among his own group is relatively sparse, largely limited to music videos rather than live performances, and even then, most of Gaku's own fanservice has focused on the audience themselves over anything else. A wink here, intense eye contact there... honestly, he can't remember the last time he shared a moment like that with one of his groupmates and not the audience.
Whatever Hiyori thinks will be enough for that portrait is hard for Gaku to know, but he's prepared to at least match his energy as best as he can. ]

ii. fellow newlyweds;
iv. slots slots slots;
Want a piggyback ride?
v. wildcard;
[ Feel free to hit me with one of the prompts I didn't cover, including other slots challenges (though I ask that anything spicy or romantic be with characters 18+ only)! Feel free to PM me to work out a different prompt or custom starter as well. ]
iv, happy to see gaku!
the question catches him off-guard. he turns to look at the person who just spoke with a curious expression. the man is tall, whereas Nova, even as an adult, stands at about 166 centimeters. he'd be easy for this person to lift, for sure! he's also in a relaxed wedding dress, since he hasn't been able to change out of it yet. he did kick off the matching pink pumps a while back.
while he is a demon, he has grown accustomed to masking his demonic features, so a normal human will see just another human. for now. if he deems this place safe, maybe he'll stop using his ability]
Uh...?
[a challenge! his Watch beeps but he ignores it in favor of trying to figure out what's going on]
Sure?
hehehe i'm glad!!
We'll do a lap around the dancefloor.

What are the slot challenges?
[was he paying attention? no, probably not. there's too much on his mind]
no subject
It'll be a short piggyback ride, but at least his strides are smooth. ]
The wedding slots. They're some special game you can play right now, I guess. You win stuff for completing challenges.

arrivals
Absolutely none of this adding up.]
no subject
[ At least, he doesn't think they have. It's hard for Gaku to recall everyone he's ever met when he's shaken the hands of so many fans, but the fact that this person doesn't recognize him in turn tells him that they're definitely not a fan.
Some of the panic flowing through him subsides, simply because it's nice to not be in this situation alone. Even if that means waking up in bed with someone he doesn't know. ]
I'm pretty sure I went to bed at my own place last night. What about you?
[ In other words, he doesn't think this is the result of drunken decisions. ]
no subject
I was plannin' on working late to get ahead for the season change comin' up on us. Was just gonna sleep there an' get back to work early, too.
[It was, by all accounts, an incredibly average night for them. They can't pin down anything that would explain this, because everything they remember was just business as usual. No strange encounters, no weird occurrences, nothing out of the ordinary that's suspicious in hindsight.]
Well, stranger, ya got a name I can use? Since we're wrapped up in this mystery together seems like a good place to start.
[So they can just stop thinking of him as the odd ring man.]
no subject
Gaku Yaotome, but just Gaku is fine.
[ There really isn't a need for formalities, he thinks, not when they've woken up in bed together. Already, he feels like they've crossed that little bridge. ]
What about you?
[ It's only fair, right?
Gaku gets up, smoothing out the pants of his tux just out of habit as he looks at what the room has to offer beyond the decadent canopy obscuring the bed. ]

iii-b; ahhh gaku!!! i love he
she looks to the doors that aren't opening, the painting that's somehow talking, then to the man beside her. he seems far too amenable to go along with the request of some ridiculous painting. is that even real? is this some trickery afoot?? sure, it might be something easy to take his hand, but something about the situation makes erza feel a bit uncomfortable.
but, she supposes as she looks to the man again, he's appealing in a way that's eye-catching; she could see herself gossiping with her friends about a man like him. so, she sniffs, casts her gaze to the side for a brief moment before returning it as something more determind. then, she slips her hand against his; her skin may be soft, but there are definitely callouses on her hands — near the base of her fingers, in the space between index and thumb, )
Alright. ( a pause, ) Do you often give in so quickly to inanimate objects?
AAAAA I'M GLAD
I've never had to give in to an inanimate object before. Maybe I do.
[ Talking paintings are new to him, and anything new like this could pose some sort of danger. If paintings can talk, what else might they be able to do? It's that unknown possibility that has him twining their fingers together, his fingers brushing up lightly against those callouses. In contrast, Gaku's hands are completely smooth, his skin soft in a way that gives away his habit of putting on hand cream. ]
Think we should argue with it?
[ He lifts an eyebrow. It's an idea he isn't opposed to, at least. ]
no subject
she looks at their hands, her browns pinched in consternation. whatever, it's not a big deal. her attention shifts to the painting, somehow the trio smug and pleased in their oil on canvas state. it doesn't make any sense. why in the world would any painting want to see anything? there must be someone behind it. magic, perhaps?
lifting her free hand she reaches out to touch the painting itself, fingers gliding over it and feels the bumps of the dried paint, the scratchiness of the canvas, the protests to her touch—
erza jerks that hand back and holds it against her chest as they titter at her reaction. she frowns.
heavily. )
I think I should like to burn it.
no subject
But the fact that the paintings seem to have the upper hand here is what ultimately makes him frown. He doesn't like seeing this girl mocked, especially when it's so clear that she doesn't want to be caught up in this situation. ]
Got a lighter?
[ If she does, he'll even be the one to volunteer to make an attempt to torch the canvas himself and face whatever consequences come to him. And if not... well, maybe he can punch the painting instead. ]
ii
I'm s-sorry, this is taken...!
[ "this"? surely she doesn't intend to stay there..... ]
no subject
Do... you need help getting out of the rack? You can keep the robe.
[ Unless she means the whole rack? ]
no subject
[ apparently, yes, she means the whole rack. ]
no subject
Yeah, most of the stuff on this rack is closer to my size.
[ And all of it's so decadent that it would be uncomfortable even for Gaku to lug around. He briefly glances at the other racks, attempting to calculate how long it would take for him to find something for her amongst all the clothing. Then, he suddenly realizes— ]
Want my jacket? I have a shirt on underneath it, so it's fine if you have it. It'll cover you up some while we look for something else.
[ In fact, he's already undoing the buttons so he can take it off and hand it over. ]
teasing trio
[ Mona manages to huff, but she still ends up giving a cautionary glance towards the three portraits and their expectant faces. They—well, it's clear from their expressions that they're looking forward to something exciting. Mona would be blind not to recognize that. And with the way magic seems to prevail over the resort, she really does doubt that escape will be possible without the trio's permission.
Crossing her arms, she returns her gaze to the young man beside her. There's a hint of pink already in her cheeks. ]
These things... I'm sure they're full of trickery!
[ One painting gives a little giggle at that. ]
no subject
What do you think we should do? Negotiating won't work if they wanna get one over on us.
[ Anything magic related is outside the realm of Gaku's understanding, but the way one of the paintings giggles tells him that this girl has a point. These paintings are certainly up to something, and they might have to go beyond simply holding hands if they want to escape.
So, he fixes her with a determined look. ]
But if you want to negotiate or fight them... I'll help you.
[ And that he'll help her in going along with their request goes unsaid, though he thinks his willingness to do that too is obvious enough. ]
no subject
no subject

iii-a
That said, he isn't panicking.
So, why not try to negotiate?
no subject
You can try if you want, but I don't think she's gonna budge.
no subject
