In the grand scheme of things, they've still spent so little time together, and what he does know of Date's life before this is so rich, so complex. He's certain that in time, Date will trust him with more of his past, his secrets, his struggles, his worries, his joys– he's certain of this because he already knows it's what he'll do, too. He trusts him, and he wants to divulge more about himself to honor that trust... but the full depth of his own truths can be such a terrifying thing. It may never become any less terrifying. He'll likely have to lean into that fear and that pain and tell Date before he's ready, because there may never come a time when he's ready.
Maybe it's the same for Date. Maruki won't rush anything with him. All he can do, all he wants to do, is to reinforce that foundation of trust so that they can both have a soft landing when they get there.
