[This place? It feels like a sea of fire coral and red kelp got stuffed into a big room before someone went wild with red paint and hot colors. Even standing in it for a few seconds makes him wonder if the temperature's gone up simply because of the ambiance. Noisy too. For a minute, he though this was an arcade. Look, all those game cabinets and glowing screens, the electronic sounds and people sitting on stools or standing in front like bow figures. Other people leaning over tables full of chips and cards with fancy drink glasses in hand. A number of them not wearing what he'd think a bar would call "business clothes". Wonder how they got away with it without their boss yelling at them? ... Oh right.
But one or two glances at said screens and it settles over his head like hitting an ocean current: ... this ain't an arcade. What're those things called on land? People go there to gamble and play adult games. He wasn't allowed to go into one cause he was too young when he first tried. No fun. The man at the door only gave him a single look before telling him to get lost. Why'd someone lock away a bunch of games behind a door and then only let certain people in? Games are games, right? Wait, no it's probably the same with drinks. Ya know how some drinks aren't for kids? Only adults drink them, so-]
Eeeh? You're pretty good at that! [Hang on. Whoever you are, you're not alone anymore. Instead, someone's practically leaning over your shoulder, an imposingly tall lanky guy grinning beside your cheek and showing off rows of sharp white teeth that gleam in the glow of slot machine screen.] Ahah~ Look at all the coins! [Well, those are chips, but he thinks they're coins, as he reaches down and swipes a pawful from a cupped slot.] Ya got so many~ ... You don't mind if I try, right?
[And going for the slot machine handle to give it a yank!] I wanna jackpot!
2) WILDCARDS
[Moh, he didn't ask to get yoinked outta school and put to work! He didn't even know this place! Who are those people who suddenly caught his arm and hauled him off for a quick question answer session? They didn't even answer his questions! And when he punched one in the face, they had the gall to dog-pile him! Oof! His tailbone still smarts... All right, all right, already! He got it. Sheesh. What grumps. At least they explained it was only 24 hours. And he got paid. He brokered the deal of picking his job. Yeah, kinda of figured out really quickly this wasn't a place he could simply slip out of immediately. Something about it crawls with magic which gives him the shivers. Not like eyes boring into his back or some predator lurking in the deep hunting. Nah, this was something playing with its food. Blocking the cave entrance and listening to little fins swim around without escape.
Without escape? Oh there's a way to escape alright. Just gotta find it or make it. Neither of which he's gonna be able to do right now. Besides, he's on the clock. At least he's already had experience working a job back at school. Who'd've thought he'd so quickly miss the Monstro Lounge? Underwater theme, soft purples, low lights. This one really wrecks his eye-]
Otto- [Quick as an eel strike, he snaps his hand around a player's wrist. Ignoring their wince and chittering protest, he pulls back and up, sliding his hand down and taking the sleeve with it. Baring a card neatly stashed in the space between watch and wrist.] Look what I found~
[He's all smiles, despite the way his fingers tighteni enough to put visible stress lines on the player's skin.] Whatcha all wanna do with this one? Play that hand again or ya want me to squeeze 'em outta the game?
[Yeah. His casino job of choice? ... Security.]

1) DIRTY DICE ... or not
Alright, alright, already! Ya don't have to shove. [Annoying. But between encouraging prompts and a few pushy hands, he's at least pulling the seat out and taking it for a plunk across the small two-person table. Your new contender is an imposingly tall lanky guy, who certainly isn't looking as happy as he is in that picture. More a frown borderline pout with furrowed curved brows and mismatched eyes seeming to demand a better reason for being here. At least his shirt's nice framed between the sides of his open casual dining jacket. Leaning forward to peer at the dice, he drops an elbow on the table with one hand cocked out to the side in expectant manner.]
Neh, why's there a crowd around a buncha dice tables? It can't be that entertaining to watch.
[ooc: Just a head's up, the moment he sees what's on the dice and what's expected, he will be quitting the game. If you tag in, expect this outcome, unless you're very convincing.]
2) SLOT MACHINES
[Hey, slot machines! He did one of these earlier! They're not as fun as arcade games, cause it's all so random, but he's gotten pretty lucky with the ones he did before? With other people's money, but at least he asked first! Kind of. Not really. They didn't seem to mind. But these machines look fun. A buncha red ones and black ones. Long legs, long steps, arms swinging by his side as he wanders between the rows, watching the occasional pull of machine handles and rolling wheels behind the glass. Some are physical, some are digital, differing in design and decoration depending on their medium. Stopping in front of one machine, he digs a hand into his pocket, the sound of chips shucking against each other follows, and tugs one out before sending it rolling down the slot machine chute. And pull! Round and round those wheels go! It's the best part of the slot machine! Even better than the surprise ending.]
Hah? These are just words. Where's all the pictures? [And the way they're lined up? Akin to a set of clues in a game. Action, person, location. Without so much as an invitation, he leans over into your personal space from his own machine.] Oy, what's up with these machines? [There's not even a winning combination key.] They're weird.
3) SEX TOY ROULETTE
Whoa. It's huge. [He's never seen a roulette wheel intact before. Only pieces of them on pictures and advertisements. For a long time he thought they were big dart boards. Seen a few of those bobbing along the waves after this or that reason. Ship passed overhead. Someone chucked it. Probably. Lost in thought, he's left standing amid the circle of people surrounding the giant wheel of red and black. Only blinking back to attention when he's addressed. "Young sir," goes the dealer, or wheeler, whatever this guy's called handling the board.] Hm? Okaay~
[So what's next. Reach out and grab that handle here... then give it a yank!] Whoo! Look at it go! [For a lanky guy, he's got some strength! That thing's spinning around furiously! Hard to tell where black and red begin or end.] Haha! You should put a spiral on it! [It could hypnotize everyone in the room! ... You know, if that worked.] Spin more! Don't stop! Hahaha!
[...*several minutes later*...]
And that's how I got this!
[Thus the story of the banana in his hand he's currently halfway through eating.]
4) PEACOCK LOUNGE
Moooh! Are ya serious? I don't wanna! [Wanna what? Get paired up with someone new again! Feels like he's been doing this all day! Playing games in the casino with groups, avoiding weird dice game pairs, messing with people at the slot machines, squeezing troublemakers for a few hours, always getting shoved at someone else, encouraged to mingle, all without much of an explanation to whatever's going on here. Normally he loves hanging out with people (and by hanging out, he means entertaining himself with them). But getting forced to repeatedly? Takes all the fun out of it.
By now his mood is completely spoiled! And starting to go foul. They're telling him the only way he can even get something to eat is to go on some fake "date" with some random stranger! For a minute, his brain and his stomach are at complete war, ice crackling around one hand as magic builds up inside his gut. Did this place really think taking his pen would rob him of his magic? Idiots. All that does is make his magic safer to use. Doesn't do a damn thing to stunt his ability! Trapping these fools in ice and kicking the kitchen door down sounds like an amazing way to blow off some steam and tear into someone!
Hm? Did someone just touch his shoulder?] Oy... I ain't in a good mood right now!

0) OOC NOTE
[Since Floyd's new, I'd prefer to have this option discussed first, as he's not someone to let a random stranger order him around so easily. He would fight it. So let's at least have a PM chat or comment below about any potential plans here, probably work out some assumed CR, and then have at it. Again, I'm not disinterested, I just want this to be more plotted out first so it's good for both characters.]
8) WILDCARD
[If you'd like to meet Floyd elsewhere, feel free to either PM me to ask for a unique starter or throw down a tag anywhere in the Peacock you like!]
[OOC: Yo! Introducing Floyd Leech, the twin brother of our resident Jade Leech and equally as troublesome, but in an entirely different way! Note: he's currently 17 from the canon point I'm taking him. All threads can stay SFW or go NSFW without a problem. I don't have a lot of information in his journal yet, but feel free to PM me if you have questions or check out his wikipages. Few quick intro notes:
1) Yes, he's also an eel merman, but this event never really led to this reveal. Damn. If you'd like to encounter him in his merform, let me know and I'll work up a personal starter for you! Anywhere from finding him in a pool to lounging in a bath, or going the tried and true "magic ran out so now we're on fins not legs" accident. Likewise, I am 150% open to sex in his merform, but mind you this can come with scratching and biting and other fishy stuff.
2) Floyd is infamous for being very unpredictable and having major mood swings. If he loses interest in something, he will drop it almost instantly and leave, no matter how interested he was in it previously. Likewise, if something else suddenly catches his attention, he will switch to it without hesitation and drag you with him should he feel like it. IF a thread is going in either direction, I will PM you and let you know to see how you want to proceed.
3) Floyd's also a mage with impressive magical skill for his age and grade. Magic is both well-defined and vaguely applied in Twisted Wonderland, so spells can range anywhere from gravitating small items towards yourself to creating several hard-hitting torrents of water. It also produces a corrosive byproduct called "blot" within the mages, but that's likely not going to be a problem in this event...]
[ Jade doesn't mind the games that the resort plays, of course. Interactions with others, forced or otherwise, give him an opportunity to have a little bit of fun. Everyone here is from different places. Different worlds. Varying expectations. That means he gets so many reactions from others. At the present moment, Jade can't say that he's necessarily bored seeing the different ways that he can make people uncomfortable to put them on edge. There are so many ways that he can do that here.
That's the real reason behind sitting down for this little "dinner date." Or, rather, that's his intention behind sitting down for one of these sessions where people just ask each other questions. It's not until he catches sight of a familiar earring and hears a whine he knows all too well that makes Jade pause.
His dearest, sweet brother. Here. Oh my oh my. Naturally Jade waves off the staff, saying that he is more than happy to find a partner himself, before placing a hand on his twin's shoulder.
Oy... I ain't in a good mood right now!
How precious. As if Floyd's capricious attitude could scare Jade off. ]
Floyd.
[ And that's all that he's going to need to say to be understood. ]
[Fun and games are fun and games until he gets tired. No one wants to play forever, unless they're weirdos who don't know what sleep means. He's had enough of being pushed at strangers. Did this place forget it yoinked him in here from his own sleep? He thought it was a dream at first, but biting his lip really hurt! Going from funny dream thought to sinking stomach plunge in when "uh-oh" came trundling after sharp pain. Where is he? What's this place? Why's it modeled after a casino-- ha! he remembered the name of it. See? Told ya he'd get it soon enough.
But moh! None of that matters now! His stomach's not plunging anymore; it's growling! His brain's growling! He's-! ... Well he's not growling, eels don't growl, but a breathy hissy sound is building in his throat and steaming between his teeth in vivid threat. He ain't afraid of throwing down with these idiots and putting the squeeze on any of them. Hungry. Food. Pretty easy answer, right? If they block him, he'll go through them and-
-and get interrupted by his twin.] I said I ain't in the mood, Jade!
[Another time, he'd turn and glare at his twin. This guy's holding back his meal! Fixated completely on his potential target means he's hissing those words over his shoulder in fair warning before
... before]
Hah? [He whips his head around so fast, he might've broken his neck. Dual-colored eyes wide for a second in surprise. Jade! Jade's here? Jade!]
Jade! [Ahahah! Jade's here! He's happy and furious at the same time, stomach going all twisted and fluttery! One good hand on his twin's shoulder tells him he's as solid as everything else here. Which is good! Maybe bad. Good!] They keep tryin to make me pair up with strangers. I said I'm done with that today!
[ A subtle warning, of course. Jade really does love it when his brother reacts in his purest form. He adores his twins antics and seeing them in action and how everyone just doesn't know what to do when Floyd is in one of his moods. The bafflement. Fear. Uncertainty. It's a delicious meal that Jade loves to feast on.
When it is appropriate. That is, when Azul or Jade can benefit from the situation or at least be able to spin the fall out in a way that gives them all the upper hand. The warning is what it is because that's not something that they have here. Squeezing the staff won't net Floyd what he wants. So, right now, Jade has to stop Floyd from doing anything rash.
[ But of course he can't actually stay strict with Floyd either. They can get mad and fight. Nearly kill one another, but just never really hold onto grudges or frustrations with one another. That's simply how they are. So when Floyd's expression shifts at realizing that Jade is here, in the flesh, naturally Jade's own expression softens from that stiff, formal warning tone.
The entire time they've been apart, he's thought of Floyd. Several times over. Had wished that, if he's trapped here, that he could at least have Floyd next to him to experience it with. At the same time, as a brother and a survival partner, Jade had wished that Floyd would never have to be here. ]
Now now, Floyd. There are certain rules to these games and consequences for not abiding them.
[ Then Jade turns towards the staff. Time to turn on the "charm" that everyone is so deceived by at first. ]
Although, surely they would think to separate brothers that haven't seen each other in several months, correct? Why, being apart that long practically makes us strangers in each others' eyes.
[ Or they could, you know, leave the area and steal away into Azul's room. Food can be made there as well. ]
Uh-huh. Are your ears working? [Warning taken, warning ignored. Mostly. At least the ice around his hand's dissipated rather than turning this concierge into a flash frozen statue. Jade's always been able to fix things when they bother him, whether it's dealing with the annoyance or pulling him away from his ire. As much as he hates not being able to vent, he does appreciate his sibling's interventions. Most of the time. Since he always makes what comes after better.
But there are times... when his know-it-all twin's reins irk him. This one threatens one of those times. But only for a moment. Because lucky for Jade, seeing him sweeps his frustration out from under him in a quick rush. Not fixed completely, but so much better because he'd much rather eat with Jade than get stuck with another random stranger again.
... hai, hai. He did pay attention to the true warning. Something he'll ask about soon enough.
Really, it's only been a day, but for some reason, he feels like he hasn't seen Jade in weeks! And he doesn't like that feeling at all. Strange, gut punching sensation. Something in his eyes doesn't sit right. One glance spies such a relief in his twin's golden gaze, softening under his pretty skin, how his jaw muscles relax and neck eases. As if those feelings aren't strange to him. There's no communication between them, yet Floyd's blood runs off. Cold and hot, dread and anger. Nani...]
Rules? This ain't a game; it's a restaurant. [He's well aware restaurants and lounges have rules. Annoying ones about shirts being done up and behavior being smart. Stuffy things he accepts when he's in the mood, but not completely. Guess it's not hard to fathom some places require a two-person party or more for a table. But that's not what this felt like!
Gegeh? "Several months"? He doesn't like the sound of that!] Jaade. Ya better not be implying-
[Oh but no time for that, since the concierge is not one to judge and quite amiably agrees to seat them together at a nice private(r) table for their re-acquaintance. After all, the peacock's aim is for everyone's happiness and pleasure. Doso, right this way, the two of you, please.]
[ Floyd is allowed to be irritated by Jade. He'd find it unusual if his twin wasn't, actually. Not even Jade can fully control his brother's mood swings. Rarely does he rein him in to this degree. Naturally his sibling's frustration would mount, not being able to have some kind of outlet. Unfortunately, Jade can't afford for him to vent and take things out on whomever and whatever he pleases. Not when Jade is a low rank and Floyd has no rank. They could get away with it if they were higher, but alas - ]
I'll explain momentarily.
[ As if Jade wouldn't have gathered as much information as he could in the time that he's been here. Observing. Watching. Listening.
Thankfully, the staff don't seem to want to argue with the twins. Rather, maybe they see this as an opportunity to stop a tirade before it begins. Or, maybe, they are considering something else, given what these sorts of games are all about. Either way, Jade is just thankful that there is no kickback. Thus he thanks the staff graciously and takes a seat at the table while ignoring Floyd's lingering, questioning and accusatory gaze.
It's not until they are sat down and they're informed that drinks and their meals are a special set today. Jade smiles and nods, knowing that he's probably going to have to have a secondary meal later. ]
