【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
Due to a high volume of check-ins, temporary accommodations have been made in our new inn for all new arrivals. Wildcards are invited to enjoy rest and relaxation while getting to know their fellow inn patrons. Current guests are encouraged to make reservations at the inn for some self-care. Prices are discounted to celebrate the new year.
All patrons have exclusive access to new additions at Crane's Respite and Heron's Retreat. The inn itself also provides a unique experience unlike anything else in the Golden Peacock.
We aim to have all guests moved into their suites as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience! 】

▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's January event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. This month we also have an ongoing ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
Oh no, that's not what I meant. I'm from like, way, WAAAAAAY in the figure compared to a lot of people, so everyone else is kinda old-timey relative to me.
[ She shakes the treat bag experimentally, seeing how the puppies react. ]
Is it like ALL-ALL animals? Or just little critters?
Ah, I see what you mean, yes. This place takes some adjustments to remember not everyone exists from a linear time.
[The puppies thankfully respond positively, turning most of their attention to her while a couple continue their vigilant stance of eyeing Flins with trepidation.]
All animals, I fear. Let us just say... it's something of a curse, heh.
Differences in time, technology, the prevalence of supernatural abilities like "magic"— or "curses"—
...there doesn't seem to be a pattern for who's pulled into this place.
[ and it bothers her enough for her brow to furrow, with a touch of a frown as she opens the treat bag. She removes a few, closing her hand gently around them. The scent won't escape puppy noses, so she hopes it'll get their attention. ]
Curses're kinda like debuffs in a video game, right? There're people in my universe who can apply them and others who can clear them.
[ The mention of his people do prompt her to openly look him over, but since she doesn't have any magical perception, the scrutiny doesn't last long. ]
What do you mean by your people?
Oh— you don't have to answer, if you don't want to.
Video games...? I'm not certain. It sounds like ailments in my world, where elements and the like come into play during battles.
[He meets her gaze with a friendly smile, though it's somewhat self-conscious. He can't tell if she can perceive anything about him, so he's unsure how much detail to go into.]
Those who hail from my homeland, if you will. Perhaps I can elaborate further another time, though.
Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Topaz. I'm Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins, though you may simply call me Flins. [He offers her a slight bow.]
Heh, quite right you are. Elemental reactions happen when certain elements interact with others, forming a powerful effect. A law of the land, as it were.
Heh, very well then. Forgive me if I slip up on occasion. Old habits and all.
There is an ability to use "elemental sight" which permits those capable of viewing traces of the elements themselves, which are what we use for our combat skills. Perhaps they could be likened to "magic", yes.
You think there's a common thread between everyone brought here?
It happened the first year I was here. They said the energy we contributed wasn't enough, and whole parts of the resort started breaking down. Monsters came up from the gaps, and the ghosts were more aggressive.
On top of the individual consequences of refusing to go along with the resort's system, the community as a whole is at risk.
[ And stability and safety matter to her. She sighs, and a puppy crawls into her lap to comfort her (or get closer to the treats in her hand). ]
Well now... That gives me an entirely different impression of the place than I'd previously held. I had thought the resort an impenetrable prison of sorts, but to think that it could be brought down to its knees by a lack of energy... [Why, that could change everything.]
I take it none have since tried to stage a coup in an attempt to break through where the monsters came in from? If we could organize those capable of fighting to protect those who can't, perhaps we could somehow escape through the cracks.

Do you know the cause?

Yes, I suppose there is no rhyme or reason to who ends up here. Whoever the powers that be feel like stealing away, I suppose.
[In some ways he's grateful to not see any familiar faces, though on the other hand it would be nice if he had someone close to commiserate with.]
I do. You might say my people are negatively attuned to animals.

The battle thing sounds about the same as my universe. Lemme guess: some elements are weaker or more effective than others against each other?

It's good to know some things still make sense across universes. Can people in your universe sense what some people call "magic?"
One of my pet projects is trying to figure out what makes this place tick.

If this place became unstable again, they'll be in danger.

"Again", you say? Has it been frequently unstable?

Even when the place was falling apart, there weren't any signs of a way out of the resort or this universe.
Besides, either suit flares or turning to stone would probably happen before the place breaks down again.

Do you know how long it takes for this petrification to take place?

So regular maintenance is important.
