During this time, all Watches will be disabled to the most basic functions (texting, calls, checking chip account) in order to encourage guests to disconnect.
Please look forward to two weeks of finding yourself amongst the trees. We hope you enjoy your stay, and have a fan-CAMP-stic time. 】

CAMPING
GETTING OFF THE GRID
As the resort moves into what it claims is autumn, the days grow shorter. The projected sun in the Vale sets in the afternoon, after which a faint chill falls. Then there’s the most excessive transformation of all – a portion of the Vale has transformed into a campground complete with a scenic lake, seemingly overnight. Statues nearby have been dressed up with flannel jackets and suspenders. Folksy banjo fills the air without any discernible source.
A section of the campgrounds have been reserved for tents. These tents vary in size, shape, and supplies. All tents, regardless of quality, are supplied with sex toys and lube. Staff and long-standing guests all agree — pretending to live in the wilderness and 'rough it' for a while is thrilling. This is what the peasants feel like all the time!

HOME ON THE RANGE
Welcome to the Peacock Campgrounds! Nicknamed the Stomping Grounds by long-standing guests. Rustic and right off a sparkling lake, guests will find everything they need to live in the wilderness. Staff have expertly set up fire pits, benches, hammocks, and a wooden shed to act as a tool depository. There's even an outhouse, which is a real novelty to many of the long-standing guests. Do they just... squat over that hole and do their business? How wild!
Unlike previous resort-sponsored excursions, guests are expected to manage without the help of staff. That pile of wood won't be replenished once used; guests will have to go chop down trees and split their own. Food won't magically appear in their tents regardless of rank. Camping is all about living off the land. Though staff make themselves scarce to make the experience feel real, they lurk in the shadows, discreetly providing necessary tools and fixing broken equipment so guests won't struggle too much. It isn't fun if it's real hardship, after all!

ACTIVITIES
TWO WEEKS OF ROUGHING IT
Camping can't be all about survival. Where's the fun in that? Before 'leaving', the staff arrange activities and events for guests to enjoy. A wooden bulletin board outlines times for group hikes, camping experiences, and wilderness delights. Adirondack chairs line the edge of the lake and a few tire swings hang over the water, tied to strong tree branches. For the first week and a half the weather is pleasant and sunny. Perfect for camping.
At night, acoustic guitars and other wooden instruments come out so that guests can make music around the bonfire. Projected stars dapple the night sky, forming various constellations sourced from guest worlds. The moon enters a different phase each night, shining a gentle silver across the campgrounds. Why not pull your sweetheart in and cuddle beneath the night sky? It's so romantic.

HOWLING
CALL OF THE WILD
Temperatures drop drastically at night as the camping excursion nears its end. Nights become so chilly that morning dew frosts over, crunching beneath guest feet. Every day the light and its warmth set a little bit earlier. Staff remain elusive and do not provide warmer blankets or clothes for guests, leaving them to cuddle for warmth or find other ways to sleep comfortably during nightly cold snaps.
The moon hits its apex on the final night of camping. Unlike the other nights, this full moon shines blood red. The Vale stills under this ominous sign, silent. Snowflakes begins to fall, spreading an endless clean sheet across the campgrounds. That reflected pink hue is inescapable.

[ Works of art don't necessarily help someone to eat, as beautiful as they are. They might not put food on the table. So having any kind of skill like that is helpful. It does, however, pull on something else: a thread of admiration. Ferdinand doesn't need to know how to carve anything as the son of a duke and a soon-to-be Prime Minister. That he does it because he enjoys it and with a secondary benefit besides speaks more to him than much else.
Even after six years of knowing him — five if she's being charitable; she wasn't exactly vying to understand him or much of others that first year — there are still things she's learning about Ferdinand.
She realizes she's lost in that thought when he asks his question, and Dorothea cants her head as she considers. ]
I thought it was warm enough in the beginning. I actually thought it was pleasant. But later on and especially very early this morning...it was colder.
[ It'd been just a few days ago when she'd thought it was almost kind of the resort to have them outside when the weather was decent, right up until it seemed just a little too cold. Almost suspiciously, though she supposes the season's right for it.
And that's about the time when she realizes... ]
Which tent is yours?
[ Because hers was nice enough for her to manage but if his accommodations are anything like what they are back at the resort... ]
no subject
And he loves the way that feels. It's exciting, and those feelings have made his days at the resort a lot easier. As much as he will always miss their home and those who aren't with them, her very presence feels like a blessing. He could scarcely imagine his life without her playing some role in it before, but now, it's utterly unthinkable.
He nods solemnly at her answer, then cocks his head at her follow-up question, his lips instinctively curling into a small smile. Perhaps she's thinking of inviting him into her tent, or herself into his. While the latter might not be a particularly glamorous situation for her, he'd welcome her with open arms, so long as she doesn't mind the risk of a stray piece of hay sticking to her hair when she wakes up. ]
It is down that way.
[ He turns his head toward a row of not particularly impressive tents, gesturing toward his with a nod. The flap is open, revealing a rather humble blanket. Thankfully, he's already traded the hay bale pillow for something a bit more suitable: a second blanket, rolled in on itself. ]
Nothing terribly impressive, I will admit. And... I am not sure what to make of the presents they left inside.
no subject
Truly, I have to wonder—
[ No, she's not going to say it aloud. It angers her enough. It's a game, she imagines; incentive to push people to pull themselves up into a higher rank or to rely on the mercy or whims of others. It's not so different from any other wealth comparison, she knows, but it feels far more exploitative here. Worse, the 'presents'. She mutters, mostly as an aside, though she's not dimming her voice much: ]
It's so infuriating.
[ Dorothea blows a breath out slowly, glancing his way. ]
Likely they were hoping that you would traipse your way into someone's tent or encourage someone into yours. They really will do anything to encourage intimacy here. [ For that game and for the vulnerability of it. ] It's like using a hammer on anything that looks like a nail.
[ It doesn't mean she isn't curious, despite the anger. As they bring what firewood they have back to the fire pit, she does look back at him once more, questions on the tip of her tongue, though so many of them would be...uncouth, mostly. ]
...What did they leave you in your tent?
no subject
Still, it's touching. Had he a hand free, he would place it upon her shoulder to reassure her. Or perhaps a hip, as he's found his hands eager to land there in particular ever since they've become so... close. ]
Oh... I must admit that while I am not familiar with their precise function, there are a few... devices. Ones meant to enhance intimacy, predictably enough.
[ He's past the point where referring to the sex toys even makes him blush. He almost even scoffs, shaking his head as though in disbelief at the absurdity of the situation. He starts to dump his armload of firewood into the pile after her, careful to make sure the wood lands in a somewhat orderly manner instead of simply spilling out all over the place. ]
There is one that... vibrates. It seems the most innocuous of the bunch otherwise.
[ He won't pretend that there isn't some curiosity, of course. He's always been one to place a lot of value in his partners' enjoyment of themselves, which goes doubly so for Dorothea. He rather enjoys making her see stars... but it would be uncouth to suggest a thing right now, with their arms smattered with bark fragments. ]
no subject
Still... ]
That's the one that's the least objectionable?
[ There's a spike of irritation. But there's something else, some nagging though that's oh so very curious about what they've given him. There are a few in her own tent but nothing so exciting or overly strange, just what they continue to try to impress on her. Thinking about what they might've stashed in Ferdinand's, however... That's a very different journey for her thoughts. It happens so quickly, so easily, she doesn't even register for a moment that she should be embarrassed by it.
It comes a heartbeat later, like something to trip over, though at least she manages not to blush. Quietly, as it's only just the two of them, she murmurs: ]
When we're done here... [ with moving the firewood ] ...would you show me?
[ She should know what this place is foisting on her friend. That's all. That's all it is, she tells herself. But she knows that's a lie; she's intensely curious about what Ferdinand has and what, among those things, he might be interested in. ]
no subject
He thinks nothing of her question, smiling and nodding in response. ]
Of course. We should be done quickly.
[ It's just simple curiosity, he tells himself. There's no need for his mind to wander to how she might writhe and moan out as they figure out a few proper uses, but that doesn't stop it from doing so anyway.
His cheeks start to redden a bit as he brushes off his arms. Surely that's just from the exertion. ]
Ah... please, allow me.
[ His eyes catch a glimpse of a piece of bark that has landed in her hair. Ever the gallant gentleman, he reaches out to pluck it aside and discard it, his other hand instinctively coming to rest on her waist as it so often has lately.
By the goddess, even that simple, stolen gesture makes his heart beat faster. If the House really wanted to inundate him with aphrodisiacs, it should find some way to harness the sheer effect that being close to Dorothea has on him. That would be a significantly more effective start than everything else it's thrown at him so far. ]
no subject
Or how easy it is for her to reach up in turn to brush the backs of her fingers over his cheek, as if they'd been doing this for years rather than weeks. Her smile greets him, warm and fond for him, impossible to hide. ]
Thank you.
[ This is what she means by how easy it is. It's so simple that she'd think it was the resort doing something to them if she didn't know that this is...just them, as it has been before. The resort doesn't need to do a single thing. She'd sigh if she wasn't afraid he'd see it for something else.
Dorothea reaches up into her hair and unwinds the tie she has in it. ]
Here. You should be the one with your hair up, not me. You've been out here working hard.
[ She doesn't hand it to him, though. Instead, she tips her head to the side, her smile broadening imperceptibly. ]
May I?
no subject
He nods his assent, then turns around for her, tilting his head back for her so that she has a few fewer inches to reach. ]
Please.
[ Such tenderness suits them well. It's easy to imagine sharing a loving home with her in the Adrestian Empire, surprising her with affectionate embraces from behind while she's distracted or cozying up by a fireplace. After everything else they've already done, it's only natural to imagine those things.
But he tries not to give voice to them right now. What they have might not be a traditional, Fódlan-society-approved relationship, but it's something, a word that describes them that doesn't quite come to him. Of course, there's one very obvious four-letter word that does come to mind where Dorothea is concerned, and it gnarls in the pit of his stomach how he hasn't properly said it to her yet, not wanting to corner her with his feelings in a place where feelings can be toyed with, where their sincerity can be questioned or their bonds toyed with.
It's a quiet tumult, one that he keeps to himself. For now, it's bearable. Something being left unsaid doesn't mean it isn't true, and it doesn't mean he can't keep trying to show it in other ways. ]
no subject
That's good, Ferdie.
[ She appreciates his willingness to tip his head back to make it easier for her — and to indulge in a little bit of her whimsy, her affection. It takes a bit of finesse to get the tie around his hair, but once she gets the first loop done, she's able to wrap it better. Her hand finds his shoulder to encourage him to straighten again so he doesn't trouble himself, but her fingers still reach up to fluff out the ends of his hair once she can see the work as it should be.
Dorothea smiles, satisfied. ]
There, that'll keep your hair off of your neck. Hopefully that'll help after all the work you've done.
[ It looks good on him, too. Her hand lingers for a moment longer, admiring, and then her other hand finds his back. It's an affectionate gesture, though she can't deny she enjoys leaning in a bit just to be momentarily close with him once more. Her voice carries a smile with it when she speaks again and she moves a half-step back to give him room to turn around if he wishes. ]
You look nice with your hair up. I didn't realize until now that I'd never seen your hair like this.
no subject
He raises his head once she's done, taking note of how she tends to the ends of his hair. Could she have ever imagined that one day, she'd be this close to the same noble that she thought had been staring at her in scorn and disgust all those years ago? He's quite happy that particular misunderstanding is well behind them now, but what makes him even happier is how she's gone so far out of her way just to show him her regard ever since. ]
My most sincere thanks. You know, I never meant to grow it out in the first place. I simply was too busy to get a proper haircut, and then, I suppose by the time I was taken here, I had gotten used to it.
[ He gives her a small, knowing look as he turns around, the corner of his mouth turning upward into a smile. Almost a smirk, but not quite, as it's a bit too genuine for that, but there's still something playful about it. ]
But if you like it, that is all the more reason to keep it, yes?
[ After all, he's gotten rather fond of how she plays with it, and he'd hate to say goodbye to that particular sensation. ]
no subject
[ That's a surprise to her. He'd always seemed meticulous about his appearance and with the long hair... Well, she'd be a liar if she thought he didn't look like a true knight, even a prince, with the way he would dress. A duke's son, of course, but Ferdinand always seemed to style himself so romantically. It took her until not-so-long ago to realize it hadn't been a facade nor had it been some kind of overcompensation. He truly believes in the ideal of a noble. Still, it leaves her quiet for a moment.
Her eyes slide towards his face, towards the cheeky smile he has. At least she has the audacity to laugh, even as her cheeks briefly flush pink about how much she likes his hair. ]
You can cut it if you wish. How it feels for you is more important, isn't it?
[ She lifts her hands again now that he's turned back around, fingers skirting over the tied back halo of his hair. It's not so difficult to imagine a shorter cut if she looks straight-on and to how his hair frames his face. And it's almost as easy to draw her fingers down further to hover over his face, and even to touch his jaw tenderly. Dorothea hums in consideration, like she's giving it real thought. ]
...I think you'd look handsome regardless of whether it was short or long, if it's comfortable for you.
[ There's an intentional pause. Her smile broadens, grows into a reflection of his own almost-smirk. ]
Just so long as there's enough for me to run my fingers through [ and to tug, as he so dearly likes ] then I'd be perfectly content. Don't you think?
no subject
Of course, he could use that same logic to justify chopping it all off as letting go, but that's not the point. His smile warms, and he leans in to steal a quick kiss to her cheek with a wink. It's an indulgent gesture, he realizes... but one that means a lot to him to be able to perform. ]
There will be plenty of time for you to run your fingers through it soon enough... though I will be just as eager for the chance to run my fingers through yours as well.
[ From the very first moment he saw her, her hair has been one of the most striking things about her. And given just how much there is about her that's striking, that's saying quite a lot. For the time being, though, he leads her back to the rest of the wood. More hands really do make for less work, it seems, as one more trip ought to do it. ]
no subject
You're welcome to do so whenever you'd like. I wouldn't mind.
[ Though, she supposes she should. But they've been together enough now that the comfortable amicability of their encounters has eroded that. It's enjoyable to be physical with Ferdinand; it's equally pleasant to have his presence during her days here. At this point, she doesn't know that she'd refuse much if he asked, if anything at all. And so it's easy to follow him back to the firewood, to get the remaining bundle, and to bring it back to where the rest is. ]
That should do it. I hope people are grateful for you being up so early to do all of this. We're going through a great deal of it daily.
[ Which is to be expected considering how many of them there are, but it also means no one is sneakily leaving them things as they had the first day. ]
