【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
We are thrilled to announce that the Golden Peacock will be embracing autumn with a special outing. Current and new guests are invited to join us for a refreshing outdoor experience where participants can unplug, unwind, and connect with nature. During this time, all Watches will be disabled to the most basic functions (texting, calls, checking chip account) in order to encourage guests to disconnect.
Please look forward to two weeks of finding yourself amongst the trees. We hope you enjoy your stay, and have a fan-CAMP-stic time. 】

CAMPING
GETTING OFF THE GRID
As the resort moves into what it claims is autumn, the days grow shorter. The projected sun in the Vale sets in the afternoon, after which a faint chill falls. Then there’s the most excessive transformation of all – a portion of the Vale has transformed into a campground complete with a scenic lake, seemingly overnight. Statues nearby have been dressed up with flannel jackets and suspenders. Folksy banjo fills the air without any discernible source.
A section of the campgrounds have been reserved for tents. These tents vary in size, shape, and supplies. All tents, regardless of quality, are supplied with sex toys and lube. Staff and long-standing guests all agree — pretending to live in the wilderness and 'rough it' for a while is thrilling. This is what the peasants feel like all the time!

HOME ON THE RANGE
Welcome to the Peacock Campgrounds! Nicknamed the Stomping Grounds by long-standing guests. Rustic and right off a sparkling lake, guests will find everything they need to live in the wilderness. Staff have expertly set up fire pits, benches, hammocks, and a wooden shed to act as a tool depository. There's even an outhouse, which is a real novelty to many of the long-standing guests. Do they just... squat over that hole and do their business? How wild!
Unlike previous resort-sponsored excursions, guests are expected to manage without the help of staff. That pile of wood won't be replenished once used; guests will have to go chop down trees and split their own. Food won't magically appear in their tents regardless of rank. Camping is all about living off the land. Though staff make themselves scarce to make the experience feel real, they lurk in the shadows, discreetly providing necessary tools and fixing broken equipment so guests won't struggle too much. It isn't fun if it's real hardship, after all!

ACTIVITIES
TWO WEEKS OF ROUGHING IT
Camping can't be all about survival. Where's the fun in that? Before 'leaving', the staff arrange activities and events for guests to enjoy. A wooden bulletin board outlines times for group hikes, camping experiences, and wilderness delights. Adirondack chairs line the edge of the lake and a few tire swings hang over the water, tied to strong tree branches. For the first week and a half the weather is pleasant and sunny. Perfect for camping.
At night, acoustic guitars and other wooden instruments come out so that guests can make music around the bonfire. Projected stars dapple the night sky, forming various constellations sourced from guest worlds. The moon enters a different phase each night, shining a gentle silver across the campgrounds. Why not pull your sweetheart in and cuddle beneath the night sky? It's so romantic.

HOWLING
CALL OF THE WILD
Temperatures drop drastically at night as the camping excursion nears its end. Nights become so chilly that morning dew frosts over, crunching beneath guest feet. Every day the light and its warmth set a little bit earlier. Staff remain elusive and do not provide warmer blankets or clothes for guests, leaving them to cuddle for warmth or find other ways to sleep comfortably during nightly cold snaps.
The moon hits its apex on the final night of camping. Unlike the other nights, this full moon shines blood red. The Vale stills under this ominous sign, silent. Snowflakes begins to fall, spreading an endless clean sheet across the campgrounds. That reflected pink hue is inescapable.

You have. [Quieter words, as if thoughtful where the line between civility crosses either into courage or foolishness, or both in equal measure.] ... We are all outworlders here, it seems. My name would mean nothing to you. Sharing one's own identity demands a level of trust and expectation, does it not?
[After all, there is no reason he couldn't lie. Assume another name, and obfuscate all of his wrongdoings, his nature, that entire history up until the dark line of death drew a curtain over his sense of self. Where Phainon reclines, he remains rigidly standing, unpreoccupied with the promise that he would fetch his own food. There are fruits and vegetables he can find later if needed.
Low, almost a sigh —]
Itachi.
[It matters little who he is in a place like this.]
Have you spoken to any other guests? I imagine that your demeanor would have made you approachable.

Phainon is more sure than ever that caution, or prudence, tempers this man. It isn't the first time his friendly overtures have been deflected one after another; he's riposted and countered the parries of a much more reticent man than this. Back then, he was a more innocent person, seeing only the destination and striving in a dozen, a hundred ways to get there. Whether the goal was as lofty as deliverance or as humble as relating with his fellow man, determination spurred him before fate defined him with endurance.
His question is met with the patience of his two-toned gaze. At a glance, the two occupy opposing poles: Phainon, seemingly relaxed and comfortable even in these wholly different circumstances, Itachi standing rigid and solitary, an monochromatic gash in the green.
One, expectant and possibly trusting, the other... ]
You flatter me, [ he waves that off, his voice rich with companionable good humor, ] I only wish to put people at ease. There's quite enough tension to go around already.
[ Phainon's voice dips perceptibly with that last admission, thoughtful, reserved. Do the circumstances not warrant it? Almost all of them - if not every last one - might be refugees plucked from across a Cosmos he has never seen. And on that note, he rests the bowl on the log with a sigh, turning his head to look in the direction of the modest setup, the tables and camp chairs, presently occupied by others. ] Everyone I've met, [ he says quietly, ] 'Players' and 'Wildcards'... bereft of all the places they know, they're looking for someone. Or something.
They may come together for a time to fill their bellies, but more than that, I think, the chance to connect is...
[ His eyes track back to his standing guest, and at once he affects a smile, tipping his head while the pensive longing in his voice pitches into joviality. ]
I digress. So! Which one are you looking for, Lord Itachi? Perhaps I can help.

The only world he's known contains so little of such nature, that for a moment it is so jarring he only looks at Phainon. Lord Itachi washes over his expression and doesn't change it at all, except for the lowered angle of his eyes, dark and direct as they memorize the tall, muscular stature of an undeniable warrior before him. He imagines how easy it would be to take a seat beside this man on the blanketed log, and begin to pick the pieces of information out of his mind like leaves on a young tree — if every fragile piece might surrender themselves to his every pluck, just because he can. He wouldn't even need the heritage of his eyes.
And better for that, because he doesn't know how his body is affected here.]
You appear to be seeking more than I am, Phainon-san. Perhaps it should be my question instead.
[He breaks his prolonged gaze at last, turning away.]
Wait a moment.
[He doesn't leave Phainon's periphery as he goes to one of the stations set up for hot cocoa. Two cups, each held separately in either hand — then returning to the log, he offers one out. This time the robe of his sleeve shifts enough to reveal the extended burn tissue over his right hand and wrist, disappearing into shadow up his forearm. Healed, but still a visibly recent wound.]

Itachi could easily pluck information from him as one might the jewel-like fruits of a pomegranate, but the choicest pieces will yet require digging. It's debatable how much of it would be useful, except... There is something useful about someone so willing and so able to freely speak with others and gain their trust.
There seem to be no forthcoming answers for Itachi's 'Perhaps it should be my question instead.' Phainon's lashes lower, thoughtfully. The smile on his mouth remains a suggestion. ]
Is that so?
[ This, said more to himself; he nods only in response to Itachi's request that he wait, and by the time he returns, has moved on past his preoccupation. His hands lift to accept the offered cup, his eyes betraying the only hiccup to an otherwise smooth transition, snagging on the edge of that sleeve, on the burned scar tissue glimpsed within.
To his credit, Phainon doesn't immediately pry, but he knows that searing agony all too well. ] Should I be wary of poison, [ he asks, a little slyly. ] ...I jest. Thank you for the drink.
I can see you're still guarded. I do mean you no ill will. Let my actions speak for my sincerity.
