We are thrilled to announce that the Golden Peacock will be embracing autumn with a special outing. Current and new guests are invited to join us for a refreshing outdoor experience where participants can unplug, unwind, and connect with nature. During this time, all Watches will be disabled to the most basic functions (texting, calls, checking chip account) in order to encourage guests to disconnect.
Please look forward to two weeks of finding yourself amongst the trees. We hope you enjoy your stay, and have a fan-CAMP-stic time. 】

CAMPING
GETTING OFF THE GRID
As the resort moves into what it claims is autumn, the days grow shorter. The projected sun in the Vale sets in the afternoon, after which a faint chill falls. Then there’s the most excessive transformation of all – a portion of the Vale has transformed into a campground complete with a scenic lake, seemingly overnight. Statues nearby have been dressed up with flannel jackets and suspenders. Folksy banjo fills the air without any discernible source.
A section of the campgrounds have been reserved for tents. These tents vary in size, shape, and supplies. All tents, regardless of quality, are supplied with sex toys and lube. Staff and long-standing guests all agree — pretending to live in the wilderness and 'rough it' for a while is thrilling. This is what the peasants feel like all the time!

HOME ON THE RANGE
Welcome to the Peacock Campgrounds! Nicknamed the Stomping Grounds by long-standing guests. Rustic and right off a sparkling lake, guests will find everything they need to live in the wilderness. Staff have expertly set up fire pits, benches, hammocks, and a wooden shed to act as a tool depository. There's even an outhouse, which is a real novelty to many of the long-standing guests. Do they just... squat over that hole and do their business? How wild!
Unlike previous resort-sponsored excursions, guests are expected to manage without the help of staff. That pile of wood won't be replenished once used; guests will have to go chop down trees and split their own. Food won't magically appear in their tents regardless of rank. Camping is all about living off the land. Though staff make themselves scarce to make the experience feel real, they lurk in the shadows, discreetly providing necessary tools and fixing broken equipment so guests won't struggle too much. It isn't fun if it's real hardship, after all!

ACTIVITIES
TWO WEEKS OF ROUGHING IT
Camping can't be all about survival. Where's the fun in that? Before 'leaving', the staff arrange activities and events for guests to enjoy. A wooden bulletin board outlines times for group hikes, camping experiences, and wilderness delights. Adirondack chairs line the edge of the lake and a few tire swings hang over the water, tied to strong tree branches. For the first week and a half the weather is pleasant and sunny. Perfect for camping.
At night, acoustic guitars and other wooden instruments come out so that guests can make music around the bonfire. Projected stars dapple the night sky, forming various constellations sourced from guest worlds. The moon enters a different phase each night, shining a gentle silver across the campgrounds. Why not pull your sweetheart in and cuddle beneath the night sky? It's so romantic.

HOWLING
CALL OF THE WILD
Temperatures drop drastically at night as the camping excursion nears its end. Nights become so chilly that morning dew frosts over, crunching beneath guest feet. Every day the light and its warmth set a little bit earlier. Staff remain elusive and do not provide warmer blankets or clothes for guests, leaving them to cuddle for warmth or find other ways to sleep comfortably during nightly cold snaps.
The moon hits its apex on the final night of camping. Unlike the other nights, this full moon shines blood red. The Vale stills under this ominous sign, silent. Snowflakes begins to fall, spreading an endless clean sheet across the campgrounds. That reflected pink hue is inescapable.

( the shikigami offers him no answer, and he doesn't demand one, either: instead, with a warm smile, he takes a few steps closer to the fire, first to inspect the fish roasting there, and then to find himself a suitable seat in the dirt near it. naturally, the divine dog gravitates towards him, tail swishing in comfort; he pats the spot on the ground next to him, as though in offer.
a spectacular thing, really. he hadn't known what to do with megumi: he hadn't known whether he should bother heeding the words of the man he'd killed, hadn't known if it would be better or worse, seeing someone with potential sold off to the zenin clan. from what he'd heard before, it sounds like he made the right decision--to take megumi into the school, and under his own care, instead. to see such a strong shikigami already means that megumi has great talent; how many others has he already mastered?
with another faint smile, he tilts his head towards megumi, watching him past the crackle of the fire. )
You mean 'how' am I like this? ( his shoulders lift, and then fall with a breath--still, his voice is patient, steady. )
I'm not the me that you know. Well. I mean I am, but I'm...from your past, I guess. It feels weird to say it that way, but...The last thing I remember is being in school. Your past is my present. Pretty weird, huh?
( he lifts a hand to give the divine dog another gentle pat. ) That's just how this place is.

[Unless Gojo has some miracle in his pocket that can summon piles of rice, fish is all he can get. With the 'complaint' about it, Megumi's even debating whether to give the guy some of the food or not (it's what you do with picky eaters!). The other part goes without a comment, just Megumi slinking back into his place and poking fire and coals with a stick, because both are true.
He is always grumpy, and he does hate camping. Or maybe it's just this particular one because he's been dumped here with no clothes (he has some now after multiple attempts at sewing something that resembles uniform), no food, no one familiar (until now), and no decent tent to stay at. So he has grounds for hating this particular outing.
The divine dog looks as if it's fascinated with the fact that Gojo's here and scratching him behind the ears; a low rumble as it settles massive head back over its crossed paws, looking like any other dog, but it is clear for both Megumi and Gojo that, since it's a technique, it's still on very high alert.
He nods and listens to the explanation- despite how Gojo is, Megumi had always listened to him and what he had to say, whether when he was a kid and they just met, or later, when he was formally a first-year student. No matter time and place, some things don't change, huh?
Megumi's past is Gojo's present. And Megumi's present is... something Gojo would be very angry with. But one can argue they wouldn't be in such a situation if they didn't manage to seal him away.
...no. He'd still probably be angry with him. Or disappointed. He can't tell which is worse.
So he doesn't bring it up. Not now.]
This place- it feels weird. [It has (almost) all properties of a domain, yet it isn't?] How long have you been here?
no subject
it feels cruel to lay out the rules so early. to tell megumi that he knows things that megumi would likely be appalled to know himself. his gaze focuses on the fire, behind his sunglasses, but the rest of him is calculating, measuring megumi's cursed energy, measuring the reaction from the divine dog, measuring that there's no danger.
instead, he agrees. ) It is weird. I thought it was a domain.
( great minds think alike. ) Still not sure if it is, or isn't. I can use my techniques here, and you can too, obviously. So if it's a domain... Well, it's a special one. I've been here for almost two years and haven't figured it out.
( --which isn't shared to be bragging, for as large as his ego might be. rather, it's because he doesn't want megumi putting himself into any undue hardship; he doesn't want him getting frustrated with himself for being stuck here.
his lips curve into a faint smile, lifting his chin to look at megumi properly. )
Did anyone explain it to you? What you have to do here? How to survive, here? It's not all camping.
no subject
They are both fiddling around the fire, somewhat awkwardly because Megumi's still trying to get used to the fact that this particular Gojo is not the one he knows. But the guy can definitely measure Megumi's cursed energy. It's up there- it's not on the level of summoning Mahoraga or his Domain, because it keeps fluctuating too much and it's not stable enough. Still, he would have no problem switching through multiple shikigami forms if he had to fight someone.]
Oh. [So he wasn't the only one who thought this was some sort of Domain. He picks up one of the fish from the fire that is cooked, and offers the stick to Gojo.] That's a long time. People I ran into said this place changes a lot.
[If Gojo can't break it, neither can he, but it won't stop him from thinking about it. Or listening to other people talk about it. One day, there will be a slip-up. It always happens.
Megumi's face can't decide whether to become red from embarrassment at the topic being brought up, or pale like a sheet (for the same reason). So now it's a mix of both, and he looks ridiculous.]
At the campsite, where a lot of new people "woke up", yes. I've been given a basic rundown.
no subject
You're going to eat first. Maybe this is poison. I won't know until you try~ it~.
( with another playful shift, back and forth, as though trying to jab the fish towards megumi's face--and he holds it there, after a moment, pointedly, as though he won't continue with anything else until he does.
it's not about it being poison, or anything like that--even here, even like this, even when they're practically the same age, he has to take care of megumi. he hadn't quite come to that conclusion yet, back home, but from what he knows, now, and what he feels, now, there's no other option. besides: megumi's probably had it pretty rough, out here. the other new arrivals have come under more grand circumstances, with luxury--this is literally just toughing it out in the wild.
still, to hear that megumi already knows something about the rules of this place makes his smile grow, a little--less embarrassed, more amused. )
I know you're the type to think 'I don't have to do that, I can last, I won't do it' but...Don't do that, okay? If you don't do it, then you won't have any money, and more than that, they'll start messing with your head.
If you need help, you ask for it. Don't be stubborn.
no subject
Why would I poison something I'll eat!?
[There are literally three more fish being cooked around the fire. The Shikigami does lift his head and is eyeing that stick as if it's ready to snatch it away.
Once it's out of the way, Megumi picks a stick from the fire for himself.
It's not that bad, to be honest. The only problem he has is that the clothes are all handmade, barely hold themselves together, and are not the best at providing heat. Which is, after he's collected the info about the place, probably something this Hotel was aiming at.
--however, it's kind of annoying that even this Gojo knows him that well. Not that Megumi changed much over the years. He's still grumpy, "I can do everything myself" type, and Gojo's literally hitting the nail on the head when he gave that little advice.]
I heard about all of it. I'm supposed to have some sort of tattoo as well. [Dodging commenting about the 'ask for help' suggestion. Ahem.] When does that thing appear?
no subject
still, because he knows he's going to get nagged anyway, he tears into the fish, working on a few bites before he glances to megumi again. thoughtfully, he studies him--that's actually a question he's never had, from someone new, which makes him wonder how long it takes the tattoo to manifest at all. )
Probably once all this is over. ( one hand lifts, a casual wave to indicate the camping in general. ) You're gonna wanna check it often, because you don't want it to look any darker than this.
( that same hand moves, brushing a bit of his own pale hair from his temple; the spade tattoo is there, pinned across the scar that would have remained from toji's attack to his skull--it's a grey color, light but not pale, as though it's certainly been some time since he's done anything about it at all.
letting his hand drop back again so that he can pick at the fish a little-- )
Just be careful. Even if you have to do it, don't do it with someone that feels bad. Don't put yourself in that kind of position. ( with another flick of his gaze up, measured, before he offers the rest of his fish out to the shikigami, holding the stick carefully. )
This place is going to force a lot out of you. Don't let it take everything. ( with a ghost of a smile: ) At least pick someone that makes you feel good.
no subject
It was the only thing no one could tell him, honestly, especially after emphasizing that it's a warning marker. And he finds it ridiculous that no one had anything to tell him about it. Even Gojo doesn't seem to have a definitive answer, huh?]
So I've heard. I also heard it can activate on a whim even if you are careful. [he, too, is now picking at the fish; he didn't have much appetite to begin with. The Dog, who doesn't actually have to eat, still accepts the very kind offering from Gojo and takes the entirety of the offered fish in one bite.
And here he was, trying to avoid the topic, but it seems he'll get a chat about it anyway. He can feel the tips of his ear burn-]
I'm not an idiot. [He is, kind of.] It's just not something I had to think about until now. [He was too preoccupied with... well...
He quickly shakes those thoughts away.]
no subject
megumi's right, at least: no matter how careful someone is, this place can ruin even the best laid plans. the fact that he's already gotten this much information makes him feel a little more at ease, given that he hadn't known anything upon arrival here. most of the things that megumi's mentioned are things he's had to figure out himself.
a relief, if anything. megumi might have an easier go of things. except: )
O~h, okay. ( he nods, self-assured, and then tilts his head to megumi, staring at him past the rim of his sunglasses. )
You mean you're a virgin. ( yes, he sounds warm and pleased about it. ) Got it. In that case, be even more careful. They really like virgins here~.
no subject
Megumi's intel digging does come from a certain someone who taught him well on how to handle himself, because certain someone knows just how goddamn stubborn Megumi can get when demanding to work alone. Of course, Megumi will give all the credit to Gojo when talking to other people, except admitting it to the guy himself (
because he's a brat).]More like- I was too preoccupied with chaos in Shibuya before I got dragged here--!
[It's not a lie, per se, he's still very sore from all the crap he pulled that evening, but it's not the full truth either because, of course Gojo is right. He is a virgin.
Will Megumi admit it? Not willingly- his red face will speak for him.]
no subject
his lips press together, as though trying to fight against the demanding tone he wants to use, the fact that he wants to sit megumi down and force him to tell him everything. his chest feels uneasy; does he really want to know? will it help, with what he's been wanting to do? how he wants to fix things? save nanami?
with a faint smile directed to the divine dog, as though to steady himself, he looks to megumi again. )
What happened to you? In Shibuya.
( it sounds less like a demand and more like his usual nonchalant coaxing; true, if megumi doesn't want to tell him, he's not going to hold infinity to his throat. )
--I don't know very much, you know. Even though Nanamin is here, and he's an adult, so--you probably recognize the him that he is, more than I do.
But no one's really told me anything. Kind of feels like I'm being kept in the dark sometimes.
no subject
There's such a strong mix of emotions on Megumi's face that he's unable to keep under control- uneasiness, disappointment (mostly in himself), sadness, a flicker of recognition that they are all completely and utterly screwed without this man around. Anger - at Gojo for acting on his own, at the superiors for their declarations, at everyone trying to swing and profit from the situation; all of them panicking yet systematically tying their hands at the same time.
His eyes raise from the fire he's been staring at, to give this Gojo a somber look; he can feel the deep slash across his back sting, still sore.]
If you're sure you want to know, I'll tell you. I won't sugarcoat it or lie.
[He's never been able to lie to Gojo; it doesn't matter that this one is way younger than the one he knew.]
I don't know the tiniest details, but I know the general events that transpired.
[Megumi's letting him have a second chance to choose, in case he's tempted to change his mind.]
no subject
no, it's irresponsible not to at least know. even if he doesn't have the ten years of experience to understand, he needs to at least take some measure of responsibility. he can't run away from everything, even if he wants to.
there's a faint nod, a reassurance, as he fits a smile onto his lips. )
Tell me what you feel comfortable telling me. If it's weird, you don't have to.
I just want to be able to do something, if I can, and it doesn't feel right that everyone else seems to know all these things like...Like I'm the problem, or something.
( a bright laugh, but it's obviously forced. ) Maybe I am, but. Go ahead.
no subject
His eyes are settled on slowly dying fire now; he knows it's the truth what he's going to say, but saying it feels like undoubtedly confirming it. He's never been one for wishful thinking and yet, here he was hoping he was making things up.
...]
On the 31st of October, there was an attack at Shibuya. A huge veil trapped all the citizens inside it, where they couldn't leave, but they could come in. The ones who orchestrated the attack demanded that you show up. [...] And you did.
I don't know what happened at the Platform, [Megumi laces his fingers and clenches his hands so hard his knuckles go white, and he finally looks up from the fire,] but they managed to seal you. In the prison domain.
We were dispatched to help with the first veil, but more started popping up once you got sealed. From the reports, the domain wouldn't want to budge and had problems, uh, "processing" you? And that's where things got bad...
[Very, very bad. Another sting on his back that makes him squirm a bit reminds him of it.]
no subject
his gaze stays on the fire, his expression blank; even now, even like this, he knows better than to show how he feels, to show how tumultuous megumi's words make him. there's no fixing a future that he hasn't come to live through, yet, which means he needs to absorb the words and figure out a way around them.
the prison realm. he can vaguely, vaguely recall mention of it, in some lecture or another: a taboo object, something that shouldn't exist.
and where was suguru, in all this? incapacitated? dead, like nanami?
there's a faint nod, as though to show that he's listening. )
Keep going. ( in a gentle, quiet encouragement. ) Got bad for you? You're not...
( he's not sure he wants to say it, but he has to. ) You're alive, aren't you?
no subject
He sighs, heavily, and nods,] I should be dead with what I did. But no, I'm not dead.
When our orders changed from securing the people outside to retrieving the Prison Domain that had you in it, everyone started heading in. And we started running into special grade cursed spirits. Ones that can use Domain expansions themselves, with full consciousness.
I was only slightly delayed because of the veil, but I ran into a Domain that had Nanami-san, Maki-san, and Naobito-san all captured within. I broke into the Domain myself, and before you say it, no, that is not the stupid thing I did. [It's hard to imagine, and in hindsight, it was the right thing to do. Also, yes, your guy can do Domain expansion- incomplete, but still works!]
I had a plan to send everyone out the same way I broke in, while our domains clashed, and he was distracted by my shikigami, but that got interrupted by someone whom Naobito-san called a ghost? [He frowns,] It turned out to be true; it was some spirit forced into the curse user's body.
However, while the guy defeated the cursed spirit, he turned on me afterward. I've never seen someone that strong in my life without using cursed energy. [Even Maki got tossed around by him, and she's the strongest person he knows that uses weapons only.
There is now an obvious pause in his retelling- as if he's come to the 'stupid' part of the story and is debating whether to tell it or not.]
no subject
still, it's hard not to feel guilty. all of this, turned to look for him, to retrieve the prison realm where he'd been trapped? humans likely sacrificed in his stead, and for what? where could suguru have been? nanami should have been powerful enough, too. and shouko? what had happened?
his head lifts, glancing over at megumi with the obvious pause. his brows lift, a patient, silent demand for him to keep going. whatever it is that megumi thinks is the stupid thing he did, it can't have been half as stupid as everything that he must have done to get them up to this point. )
no subject
The possessed cursed user stabbed me before he stabbed himself after hearing I'm Fushiguro. It was... weird. [That's not the point, and he shakes his head,] The stab was pretty bad, but Ieiri-san was few blocks away on stand by so I figured I'll be fine if I managed to get there.
But ... one of the cursed users appeared out of nowhere. Whether they were lying in wait or tracked me down, I don't know, because I didn't sense them. And they slashed me open on my back. [It still hasn't healed yet completely, and every weird movement he has is his wound either stinging or itching.]
I was set to bleed out in, like, a couple of minutes, maybe less, because the guy was following me. So I... [he takes a deep breath and does not meet Gojo's eye,] I dragged him into subjugation ritual with me of one shikigami that no one managed to tame.
[He doesn't SAY the name, but he has a feeling even this Gojo has heard of the unconquered shikigami. That thing was the reason why the six-eyes wielder and ten shadow wielder died once.]
If I was going to die, then I wanted to make sure the fucker died as well. I'm still alive because the subjugation was interrupted by a third party.
