【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system. We have arranged for a selection of basement suites to temporarily house new arrivals until reservations have been processed. We hope you'll join us in giving our new guests a warm and loving welcome.
We have an exciting announcement! The house will be hosting a carnival for all guests to celebrate the Golden Peacock's birthday. Please look forward to food, games, and attractions in the Cloud-Dwelling Garden. The carnival will be available for guests to enjoy for seven days. Happy birthday week, Golden Peacock*!
We hope you are as thrilled as we are! And, as always, we hope you enjoy your stay.
*Please note that this is an arbitrarily chosen date for the Golden Peacock's birthday, which is unknown. 】
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon and this TDM acts as the game's July event. The carnival will run July 15th - July 22nd.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. We also have a summer ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
[He gives Midnight a knowing smile. From one pretty boy narc to another!]
Yep, I completely understand. Honesty's the best policy when it comes to love, including self-love! And since I love myself a lot, other people might see me and think, "Maybe I can learn to love myself, too!" And then it's a circle of positivity~♪
[Idols are expected to be role models, at least to some extent. If he smiles, other people might smile. If he loves himself, then others people can love themselves. That's the goal, anyway!
But enough talk about himself. He asked about Midnight, he gets his answer, and that answer makes his brows jump. He hadn't known what to expect—for him to be some sort of bard strumming a lute on the riverbank of some fantasy world unlike his own, perhaps. But instead he hears thoroughly modern and thoroughly naughty words, like "host" and "escort," and there's no hiding his surprise.
Though after a year-plus of being in this place, well. It's hardly enough to scandalize him.]
So that's it. Things must be easy for you here, if you have that sort of background.
[Said airily, with a smile. Then he adds:]
That's what anyone would assume, at least. But you have your own struggles, too, I'm sure.
[ A nod. Happiness creates more happiness in turn when it's shared. It's a truth that Midnight's built a kingdom around... Looks like this young man understands that.
Midnight lets Hiyori finish his thought, letting out a hum of contemplation of his own. ]
One might think so, yes. I'm afraid my methods don't work on everyone. That's the whole point of the human experience, you know... There is no one person who is liked by everyone. To do that, one must become more like someone else, and less like themselves...
[ A sharp grin. ]
Well, I'm quite good at becoming the person others need me to be, but in a place like this, in order to win the game... I enjoy lying, but I'd have to be quite dishonest about myself and my intentions to stand a chance of winning. I don't like that. I don't like being required to cross my own lines in order to win a game with no concrete prize.
[ A light shrug. ]
I like my relationships when they're real, whether friend or foe. I won't cross that line, even if it would take me far here.
[He listens with the same light smile on his lips. But his gaze has turned a little thoughtful, too. The guy said he likes lying, but that was all pretty honest, wasn't it? It sounded it, anyway.]
Mmhm~ [A sympathetic hum.] I totally get you.
[Then he amends,]
Or what you said about wanting something "real," anyway. It'd be a bit much to say I understand all of it, when I've never worked that sort of job before. But being surrounded by people who don't really see "you" can almost feel lonelier than having no one.
[He's never had that sort of job before. But there was a period, however brief, where he'd "date" or go to bed with anyone who showed interest in him. He doesn't talk about it much, but he's alluding to it now.]
As for us idols, all of us want to be loved, but I'd say it's less "becoming someone else" and more like flower arrangement. You have to choose which parts to show off, which parts to cut out, and how to frame everything. It's all about balance~♪ But the parts that are there are real, at least in my case. I can't speak for everyone else, though.
[... but enough about him, for real this time.
He's still watching Midnight's face, his voice casual as he asks this next question, like he doesn't expect anything much to come of it. Unraveling the mysteries of Game 52 is something he's largely given up on doing, but even so, he'll ask, just on that off-chance this mysterious man has some new insight to give him.]
Anyway, you said the prize doesn't tempt you, so does that mean you took all that wish-granting stuff with a grain of salt? You don't think they'd follow through?
Mmm. The closer one gets to the top, the more isolated one gets. Moments when one can be their truest self become far more precious then... Those truest parts of oneself are often the most vulnerable, after all.
[ ... Or that's Midnight's experience, anyway. Not that he bothers to make that clear: after all, his former success has very little to do with who he is now.
Not that that's stopping Hiyori from pressing him for more, apparently... Still, Midnight has no qualms with telling stories about himself. Some of them are true, even. ]
There's very little satisfactory proof, at least in my eyes; all the winners I've spoken to seem to have gained their wishes with something of a cost. Perhaps they're at peace with the sacrifices they've made, but I, for one, haven't got a wish worth the sacrifice of the rest of what I cherish. It is what it is.
