【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system. We have arranged for a selection of basement suites to temporarily house new arrivals until reservations have been processed. We hope you'll join us in giving our new guests a warm and loving welcome.
We have an exciting announcement! The house will be hosting a carnival for all guests to celebrate the Golden Peacock's birthday. Please look forward to food, games, and attractions in the Cloud-Dwelling Garden. The carnival will be available for guests to enjoy for seven days. Happy birthday week, Golden Peacock*!
We hope you are as thrilled as we are! And, as always, we hope you enjoy your stay.
*Please note that this is an arbitrarily chosen date for the Golden Peacock's birthday, which is unknown. 】
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon and this TDM acts as the game's July event. The carnival will run July 15th - July 22nd.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. We also have a summer ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
Okay, I'd believe that except it still doesn't explain the blood.
[ Sylvain stresses the words with a gritted jaw. Although his gaze has skimmed over those marks and noticed the healing. Something like a Crest kicking in, maybe?
It's fine. Considering the fact that I am talking to you and not passing out, then there's nothing to worry about.
[ Instead what they should be worried about is. Ahem. The mess. Because now Cale is looking between them. Grimacing. Maybe he can bother this man to help out with this. Cale doesn't like the sticky feeling of combined fluids and sweat, thanks. ]
[ Okay. So he's looking around. Trying to find where that robe of his went to. Maybe he can put that on and find his way to a bath. They probably have something like public baths, given the whole point is to be intimate with others... ]
Instead of worrying about that, I'd like to get cleaned up.
[ Sylvain just scrapes a hand over his face with a muttered curse, knowing this was probably karma for all the times he was a terrible patient for Mercy and Felix.
But instead of arguing, he shifts to sit beside Cale and retrieves both their robes, although they're a little worse for wear now. ]
Come on. I can show you to the gym. They've probably got some of the nicest showers until you get assigned a room. And sometimes even then.
We can acquire some of that there, too, although it won’t be exactly fashionable. But it can hold us over till we can get to one of the shops. Unless you really wanna go shopping first.
[ Like this. With just the robes. He doubts it.
Either way, he holds up Cale’s robe so he can slip into it, his eyebrows arched in patient inquiry.
Which is, of course, when he gets an eyeful of the lettering on the back of it. Some of the words mirror what he suspects is on his own - which he’s specifically not looking at and has been ignoring up until now. But it has him feeling a pang that they seem to have this in common, too. ]
[ He's not worried about any wording that may ( and probably has ) shown up on his own. Cale will always just scoff and deny it anyway. So when Sylvain offers the robe, Cale is quick to put it back on and tie the sash. ]
Ah, that reminds me. I had a question that I wanted to ask.
[ Sylvain just. Hands him a napkin with a dry look.
Slipping back into his robe with just as much dismissal for whatever it was proclaiming, he tied it off as he pushed to his feet and then offers the redhead a hand up. ]
[ It takes a second of Cale looking blankly at Sylvain before. Ah. People are so sensitive, aren't they? Offering for his mouth and not the mess that will become tacky before they even reach these showers.
Priorities. But fine. He'll wipe his mouth as he takes the offered hand. ]
The first one was about how long you've been here.
[ Trust him. There are certain people in the resort you probably don’t want to catch you bleeding. The vampires are the least of your worries at the moment. Not to mention some of the older guests are into that.
But Sylvain guides Cale out of the pavilion, and then out of the gardens entirely, leading the way to the gym instead. They should be able to find some comfortable exercise gear there, as well as use the showers, maybe even the sauna. ]
A while. All in all I think it’s been about a year and a half, although I’m missing some of that time, apparently. That can happen unexpectedly, supposedly, although it typically happens more to the people who don’t play the games. Maybe I was playing them too well? I don’t know. Either way, my friends say I’ve been missing for a bit, and the resort has me labeled as a Wildcard again, instead of the Diamond I was, so hopefully they get that part sorted out soon.
[ At the current moment he has no reason to doubt that Sylvain is leading them both to the gym. It will be weird seeing one after all this time away. Even more so seeing more "modern" clothing. Cale doesn't exactly mind. The original Cale's style was so ostentatious. Yet now he's going to be back to dressing himself.
[ Ahh, Cale hadn’t gotten any welcome speeches or explanations yet. At least the symbols for the suits were easy to point out as they walked - they were everywhere around the resort. ]
New arrivals are usually called Wildcards when you first get here, at least until rooms get sorted and whatever they do when people first arrive. But then you get divided into one of four suits. Diamond, Hearts, Spades, Clubs. They’re also the symbols on most of the playing cards and a good deal of the gambling games in the casino as well.
We’re each given one of these suits as our designation, and then we’re given a ranking. 2 through 9, and then there are three royal cards, Jack, Queen, King. Three’s another card, Ace, which… sometimes it’s a 1 and sometimes it’s above a King? First or last, but I’m not sure what decides what it’s going to be on any given day. I’ve only actually seen Aces show up in a few games, but maybe there’s more now? Not sure.
Anyway, in order to “win” the resort’s big game, you’re meant to collect all the “cards”. Each suit and each ranking of them. Sometimes there’s different ways of claiming a card during some of their smaller or specialty games - like we’re seeing today - but otherwise you collect someone’s number by being intimate with them.
Which means, once they’ve got my number sorted out again, you’ll have already collected your first card. Congratulations.
[ Well... He had been dumped in the middle of that funhouse. It's not like he had gotten much in the way of an explanation from anyone at that point. People who had also just arrived had been a little too focused on getting out of there. So this is really the first opportunity he's had to ask direct questions.
Yay Sylvain.
At least Cale is familiar enough with card games. If the goal is to collect all 52 and they were all given a designation, that makes sense. In other words, you'd have to have an "intimate encounter" with at least 52 different people. Something tells him some people care a great deal about this and others don't. Some might not even be playing the game in order to collect cards. ]
I see. That's more straightforward than what I was expecting.
It’s set up pretty straight forward, yeah, although in practice… it ends up being a little more convoluted. It’s one of those things you’ll get the hang of as you experience it. Plus people can jump around to different ranks, too. I started out as a 4, but I was a 10 before all this.
[ He gestures to the resort around them at large. ]
...Even if they didn't, the person that had accomplished it surely would have.
[ That makes him frown. Yes, he's not necessarily putting on the sparkly personality. The airheaded heir that only cares about what's in it for him and nothing else just doesn't work after that. Cale's revealed too much of his true colors. ]
Augh. Even in a place where your focus is on intimacy there has to be troublesome complications.
When you can find friends and willing partners here, it can go pretty smoothly. [ He counters as he turns them down a long hall. ] The food definitely helped, though. Most people aren’t comfortable just jumping right into that, especially when they’re new.
That was just a calculated risk. It was obvious what we were meant to do when I started walking around. It's the equivalent of taking something to ease any anxiety.
[ Well now Sylvain is getting a look into how Cale observes the world? Or how he rationalizes all of this. ]
If there's no way to go back, then the obvious choice is to play along on your own terms.
Which is why I’m pretty sure you’re going to do just fine here.
[ Sylvain hasn’t met many people who could take their arrival and the games that awaited them so calmly. If they could, they were people who could think like Cale, or they could view this place as an improvement still from where they’d come, even with the manipulations and games.
Sylvain was somewhere in the middle, a little of both. ]
Here we are. The gym. We should be able to find some workout clothes in the lockers here, and then the showers are back there beyond that doorway.
What other option is there? Sit around and complain? Whine about how it isn't fair?
[ Sometimes things can be true. However, dwelling on them doesn't achieve anything. It's Cale's contradicting nature coming into play - he'd rather be responsible for his own fate so that he doesn't have to bear a burden of being helpless.
Ah, they're here. Workout clothes and a shower. Got it.
Cale looks towards Sylvain. ]
I suppose this is where we part ways?
[ Sylvain has been very helpful. A little fussy, yes, but ultimately helpful. He assumes the man has other things to do. Other people to see. Their exchange is over, so it's not as though they owe each other anything further? ]
You’ be surprised at how many choose to do exactly that. Or maybe you wouldn’t be surprised at all. You seem a clever sort.
[ He casts Cale a playful wink as he heads for one of the lockers, glancing through it before pulling out a spare outfit in his size. Much better than the robes. ]
Probably, yeah. For now, at least. But you can come find me if you need anything. Or I’ll come look for you, once rooms and ranks get sorted. I’m usually not too difficult to find.

What happens if you do manage to get all fifty-two?

No idea. I’ve not heard of anyone doing it in my time here. I feel like they would have made a big deal out of it if someone had.

I wouldn't have thought that what we just did was a game to participate in the game.
