【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system. We have arranged for a selection of basement suites to temporarily house new arrivals until reservations have been processed. We hope you'll join us in giving our new guests a warm and loving welcome.
We have an exciting announcement! The house will be hosting a carnival for all guests to celebrate the Golden Peacock's birthday. Please look forward to food, games, and attractions in the Cloud-Dwelling Garden. The carnival will be available for guests to enjoy for seven days. Happy birthday week, Golden Peacock*!
We hope you are as thrilled as we are! And, as always, we hope you enjoy your stay.
*Please note that this is an arbitrarily chosen date for the Golden Peacock's birthday, which is unknown. 】
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon and this TDM acts as the game's July event. The carnival will run July 15th - July 22nd.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. We also have a summer ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
Assuming they're the trustworthy sort. After all, what makes you think the person paid to handle your untold riches will be content with the paltry sum they receive for the task? More like as not they'll make off with your wealth, likely with you none the wiser.
[Not that he's speaking from having seen precisely that done before, and too many times to count. Such is life in Ul'dah: always seeking to seize advantage, where wealth is concerned. "For coin and country", but rather more for the coin than the country.]
Which means having trustworthy friends — neither guaranteed by your lantern, I should note.
If you're stupid enough to pay them before the task is complete, sure. I can't say I've come across that particular problem.
[ Mostly because, somehow, he's earned so much damn loyalty. It's annoying as much as it is endearing. Things have strayed so much from the novel because of that. Oops? Though that mindset says a lot about this fellow in front of him, now doesn't it? A bit cynical, aren't we?
Anyway, Cale waves the comment off. The lantern he's picked is the one that resonates with him the most and he's not going to waver. ]
While your point is valid, I guarantee that any "friends" I would have would also demand I take the green one.
[ Given how Raon keeps saying he'll destroy everything if anything happens to Cale... ]
Fortunate for me that I'm neither an accountant nor your friend, then, I daresay.
[He is, however, a man with a lantern, and with someone else present to release them with, it means he can get along at satisfying the necessities of the practice. So he moves to light his own, easily, and starts to make ready to see it off.]
If you say so. I would disagree, but that's just me.
[ As would many others. If Alberu were here he'd probably be smiling and putting Cale on the spot. Still, it's just better all around if people think he's trash for the time being. Cale has no idea what this place is, does, or where he fits in it still.
Anyway! The lantern is as much for him as it is his kids and people. Maybe Alberu. Maybe not. Cale is already lighting it with them all in mind. ]
Can't say as I have. I've not had much time for whims and wishes in my life, personally.
[Not when his life has always been devoted to protecting the dreams of others. Louisoix's goals for spreading Sharlayan's wealth of knowledge across the star. Minfilia's wish for a better Eorzea. Ryne's dream of a future —
Even this wish, represented by the blue lantern in his hands, isn't really going to be one of his own, is it?]
Is there a right or wrong way to go about it? Other than just lighting and launching, as it were.
[ Relatable, honestly. Who has time for those sorts of things when protecting the world? Kim Rok Soo hadn't the luxury, but he's no longer that person so - ]
You always have the opportunity here to make up for lost time. If anything, it looks like it's encouraged.
[ He doesn't have a problem with that. Though Cale would prefer it to be a place of his choosing with his people and small zoo. Cale would never want any of them here. ]
There's not really a right way or wrong way. Light the lantern, speak your wish into it, and then release it. It's better to not share, exactly, what your wish is. Loses power that way, you see.
[Well, it's a charming custom nevertheless. And for a moment he catches himself thinking of Norvrandt again, and this time of the children who'd lived their whole lives never seeing a night sky, suddenly unable to sleep from fears of the unexpected dark. Ryne would like this sort of ritual, too. Not from fears of the dark, but from wanting to shine a light for others.
Fortunate that that's who he's making his wish for, then, isn't it?]
Well, I'd certainly like mine to have all the power it can get. So here goes.
[He says, as he lights his blue lantern up and entrusts his wish to it, careful to keep his lips obscured so they can't be read as he offers it.]
[ Thancred isn't alone in thinking of others. Cale is doing the same. Raon Mir had been frustrated by not entering his growth phase, despite being a talented dragon for his age. Hong and On are also growing up well. All Cale can ask for, besides for himself, is for them to continue to grow and be healthy. The same goes with Ron and Mary - his inner core of people. ]
I think I can relate.
[ Which is why Cale does much the same after lighting the lantern. Now he doesn't speak the words out loud nor does he wish. Instead he makes a silent promise to continue to look out for everyone and, most importantly, for himself.

[ Don't try to scam a scammer, Thancred.
Though he does hate the fact that the other is right about there being a fair amount of work.]Good fortune would though, wouldn't it? As long as you have money, you can just pay someone to handle everything else.
[ The original Cale Henituse had been known as a lazy lout prior to the soul swap. Present Cale has no issues playing that up. ]

That's more effective than a wish.
Then he lifts it towards the sky to release it. ]
