【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
It has recently come to our attention that many of our guests have not been focusing on their health and wellness. In an effort to encourage healthy living and help our beloved guests get in shape, a grand sports festival will be held in the Golden Peacock. This sports festival will include many small games and four large games.
Prior to the festival, guests will have the opportunity to train and prepare for the games with our expert coaches.
We hope you are as excited as we are! And, as always, we hope you enjoy your stay. 】

MEET THE TEAM
♦ DIAMONDS GAME ♦
OMEGADOME: HUNTING GAME
A cheerful pair of game managers stand outside the conservatory doors and block all guests that try to enter. They quickly explain that a special Diamonds game is taking place inside and only guests that agree to participate may enter. This game is a physical exercise that riffs on "Hunting", which is a popular sport in many different countries and civilizations. Of course, it is one hundred percent safe, and all guests that play are eligible to win massive chip prizes, store vouchers, fabulous prizes, and more.
Details about the game? Those can't be shared outside of the conservatory. Only the brave and those willing to risks will reap the benefits of this Diamonds game. So step right up, dear guests, and sign this waiver before stepping into the flourishing beauty of the conservatory for a brand new adventure.
♥ HEARTS GAME ♥
DOUBLES' THERMO: SURVIVAL GAME
Chickadees is sparing no expense on advertising their e-sport games over the course of the sports festival. Posters, notifications, stickers, fliers! Come one, come all. Sports don't need to be physical. Guests that duck into the arcade will find a variety of e-sport games to enjoy, but the real showstopper that every single employee is aggressively promoting is the new immersive VR game, DOUBLES' THERMO.
A large swath of egg-shaped pods have been installed in the back half of Chickadees. Any guest that shows an iota of interest will be assaulted by employees encouraging them to give it a try. They will offer vouchers for a free session, encourage with mentions of prizes that can be won from the arcade's coveted prize wall, and persuade by praising how high tech and immersive the experience is. Some employees are desperate enough to trick or push guests into the pods if they aren't willing to go in themselves.
However they've ended up inside the VR egg, guests will find themselves submerged in strange fluid as the lid closes. Everything fades away into darkness as the game loads...
♣ CLUBS GAME ♣
QUACK AND COVER: SHOOTING GAME
Cloaca & Dagger has temporarily outfitted itself as a neon-bright paintball course. Gone are the wild sex setups in exchange for series of obstacles and obstructions for guests to navigate while in pursuit of paintball championship. This high intensity game of strategy and physical fitness promises to exhilarate! Welcome to Quack and Cover, a game where your shooting skills and ingenuity will be put to the test.
So say the game managers at the door before following up with a few disclaimers. Cloaca & Dagger is not responsible for any physical or psychological trauma guests may incur while inside. Guests that join the game will then be outfitted in tight black underarmor and supplied with a paintball gun and protective mask before being let loose on the course.
♠ SPADES GAME ♠
PECKING ORDER: MMA GAME
During night hours, many long-standing guests make their way through Talon toward the gym’s creaky basement stairs. Three floors down and then through a desolate hallway with littered with abandoned equipment. Double doors wait at the end, unassuming until they’ve been opened…
Flashing lights, jeers, and the thick odor of sweat. You’ve found the Pecking Order, a late-night mixed martial arts event where guests show their prowess in the ring. Spectating guests shout and messily eat snacks on make-shift bleachers while fighters clash inches away, using only their bodies to fight for dominance and win. Pecking Order is very informal; guests only need to sign up in order to get added to the docket. Anyone can watch, though they will be vaguely warned at the door that even spectating comes with risks.
LOCKER ROOMS
YOU WASH MY BACK, I'LL WASH YOURS
Every training and game location has a door labeled LOCKER ROOM right outside the entrance. These doors all connect to the same massive locker room. The magic of these locker room doors goes one way. Trying to go back to the place you just were by backtracking will not work — you’ll just end up in Beak! All guests will be advised to finish their games before hitting the showers.
The Golden Peacock is proud to present our upgraded and extended locker room. Please come in and enjoy the facilities, catch-up with your teammates, and enjoy some healthy drinks provided by our favorite resort convenience store, Cock-a-doodle-doo’s!

[ Kaveh has just stepped out for a refreshment after a long time in the rainfall showers, washing off the everything that today has left on him—or at least trying to; in some ways it still doesn't feel like quite enough. A year on and he finds that it rarely does, in this damned place.
Still, maybe a nice cup of cold brew will help where it feels like the showers have failed to. And so, like Tighnari, he's here, a towel around his waist as he scans the options in front of him.
He's lost enough in his own combined thoughts and exhaustion that he doesn't really pay a lot of attention at first to the people around the refreshments bar. It's not, in fact, until the other speaks that something in him pauses, and he stops, hand halfway towards his chosen option.
He knows that voice.
He turns, and something in him is relieved and broken all at once. ]
Tighnari.
[ He shouldn't, but he can't quite help himself: he steps forward, arms circling his friend's smaller frame and pulling him into a tight hug. ]
[ and there he is. maybe he's just feeling the effects of being overwhelmed by the choices, not to mention the entirety of their now-shared situation, but he chides himself internally for not recognizing kaveh. maybe it's because they're not wearing their usual clothes? still, it's hearing a familiar voice that makes him shudder and weaken in that hug as he forgets about the drinks and finds his arms naturally wrapping around kaven's waist. ]
What a relief it is to see and hear a friend around here...
[ not that whoever he's been intimate with so far isn't a new friend or anything, but he chalks that up to some unusual hormonal interference. it's not going to keep him from continuing to embrace kaveh, pressing his face into the other's shoulder. ]
... has it been difficult for you, too?
[ what that 'it' is, he leaves up in the air. it's rather broad in scope but. there's a lot to consider. ]
[ "Has it been difficult for you, too?" Tighnari asks, and Kaveh's heart breaks. He knows many of the guests here, which means he knows that his younger friend has to be a recent transplant to the resort. And the thought of it being difficult for him already...
It makes him feel sick with worry. What kinds of things has Tighnari experienced since arriving here?
(And at the same time, there's the more selfish part of him, the part that wants to break but never will, the part that's been here for over a year, so much of it alone, so much of it hurting—) ]
I'm okay. [ It's whispered into forest-dark hair as Kaveh hugs the other a little more tightly to him. ] I've... long gotten used to the kinds of things this place expects. But, Nari...
[ He does pull away, but it's only to grasp at his friend's shoulders, to seek his eyes for answers, concern written plainly onto his features. ]
You've only just arrived, right? What's happened to you?
[ confusion reigns in tighnari's head while the rest of him gives into the simple comfort that an embrace like this brings. what does kaveh mean by 'long gotten used' to the golden peacock? it feels like yesterday that he spotted him, waved, offered him a polite smile that matched his tail's gentle drifting. their paths don't cross often but he remembers each time that it does. so if this is the case and he's not being deceived by some kind of trick... not by kaveh's doing but someone else's...
it makes his head hurt. he sighs. yes, he should probably explain: ]
I was offered an opportunity to study some of the plants native to the conservatory, so I accepted. I knew what I was signing up for, but I suppose I didn't realize how honest they were being with the effects.
[ the ones that made him hypersensitive. needy. an inner voice that felt foreign to his usual instincts persuading him to ignore common sense... ]
I feel better now, though. So you don't have to worry about me. I should be the one worrying about you.
[ he raises a hand, presses it against kaveh's cheek, and smiles as best as he can with all the warmth he has. ]
[ For Tighnari, perhaps it was yesterday. But for Kaveh, it's been more than a year now. He's heard of this kind of thing happening with others, but this is the first time he's experiencing it himself.
He can comfortably say he doesn't like it.
Tighnari places a gentle hand on his cheek, and the blonde shakes his head. How like his friend to offer to look out for him, to worry for him, even in this place. Even if it were only his pride as an elder on the line, Kaveh would probably tell him no. But as it stands...
He pulls back just enough that he can flip through some information on his watch, and then looks back up at the other man once more. ]
You're a wildcard, right? You came with the newest arrivals. So, no. If anyone's going to be worrying about anyone, it will be me worrying about you.
[ Kaveh's nose scrunches, turning wheels visible in his expression for a moment or two before he admits, his voice quiet: ]
[ he echoes those words quietly to himself, lips moving to match that phrase. 'here for more than a year'? that seems... almost impossible. he allows himself to insert the tiniest of wiggle room, the bittiest of chances, that this could be true. or rather, it's true to kaveh and trying to argue against it is impossible. but he doesn't doubt him either! ]
Yes. I'm a wildcard. It seems like there's plenty of those who are like me, but even more who aren't. And if they've been here as long as you, then... at least you've had company. I'm glad.
[ it would be worse if he were completely alone. right? getting back to concrete, hard facts is probably the best thing for him. to cope with an unknown situation means to focus on the things he DOES know. ]
You don't have to worry about me. Granted, I rather be an observer than a participant in whatever else they must be forcing everyone to do, but I'll be fine.
[ a beat as he nods to himself: ]
Even more so that you're here, right? You're the veteran here.
[ He's quiet for a moment as he considers Tighnari's words—although, when the other mentions that he'd rather be an observer, the blonde feels something inside of him twist in anxiety. He reaches out, grabs his friend's shoulders tightly in his hands as he shakes his head. ]
I get it if you don't want to participate. But you have to. Okay? There's... there's consequences, if you don't. Usually they're ugly enough that they'll make you wish that you'd just done what they told you to do in the first place.
[ With a soft sigh, he forces himself to release the other man, his hands dropping back to his sides. ]
If you're thinking of me as a veteran here, then at least trust me with this much. I don't know exactly what you went through today, but I'm willing to guess that if you think of that, and then make it worse.. then, yeah. You're probably starting to have an idea.
[ the sense of urgency is palpable, the anxiety is felt in that grip and in how kaveh's reaction is... it sets tighnari on edge as well. how can't he feel worried about both of their situations when it's that important? consequences that could be worse than what he's already done? he purses his lips, chews on his bottom lip for a moment, before placing a hand on kaveh's side. ]
I'm not here to be a glutton for punishment, Kaveh. [ said quietly as he straightens out his somewhat short shirt that shows off his midriff, despite it being sheer and one of the most revealing things he's ever worn in his life. ] I'll survive just like you have.
[ if the architect can do it, so can the forest ranger. that's something reasonable to hold onto even if things become truly dire. ]
Have you seen anyone else? I suppose anyone familiar or even somewhat recognizable would be a good thing...
[ For a moment, he worries about what Tighnari says—but then the younger clarifies, explains he'll survive, and Kaveh nods, slow and relieved. As long as he's doing what he can to be okay, that's all the architect can ask for, right?
As the other keeps talking, asks his questions, Kaveh's eyes drift to the top that he's wearing, the way that he's trying to straighten it out. Maybe, if Tighnari lets him, he'll take him to the department store here, try to get him something a little more suited to his usual style...
But eventually, he's forced to come back to what's asked. He shrugs, eyes not quite meeting the other's anymore. ]
There are people here from Teyvat. I've met some from Fontaine, and I've heard about others. I... when I first arrived, Alhaitham was here. [ It's a little more complicated than that, but he doesn't want to explain further, not right now. ] He's not anymore, though. From Sumeru, it's just been me for a while now.
[ he'd like that. putting something on that would make him feel more normal, less seen, less felt. but kaveh has explained that might not be possible--- and that's fine. he'll just have to get used to it. adjust, adapt, just like how nature intended despite this place being far from it. there's nothing natural about how his body felt after those teeth touched him, how he quivered and ached and...
he shakes his head. can't keep letting his thoughts drift to that. ]
Then we should take advantage of the time we have now.
[ the smile that tighnari puts on isn't as forced as the prior ones, finding some sense of ease with kaveh being honest with him. he could've said anything to try to comfort him. ]
[ As he feels Tighnari relaxing, Kaveh can't help but relax too. He reaches out, links his fingers loosely through the other man's as he nods. Now that he's had the thought, it's not really letting him go—and it helps when Tighnari suggests that they take advantage of the time they have now, being able to spend it together, in the relative peace that the place offers when they're not drunk on their own desire.
To the other's question, he smiles. ]
I think so, yeah. I've started helping some people out with some minor design changes to their rooms here and there, so it gives me something to do that feels a bit more... normal. I can help with yours, once you're settled in, if you want.
[ His head tilts. It's a perfect segue, so he takes it: ]
Speaking of help, did you... want to come to the store with me? Having been here as long as I have, I've... managed to save a fair amount of money. I know when you first arrive you don't have a lot and most of it is... [ He makes a face, trying to avoid saying "like that" and risk making Tighnari self-conscious. ] You know. But at the department store, they have a lot of options that are closer to home.
iii - makes little screechy noises at you as kaveh gets overemotional
