ANY CAR IN A STORM
PHOENIX CASINO HALL
WELCOME TO THE NEXT 168 HOURS
Phoenix Casino is a-flutter with activity and packed to the beak with guests. As a famously ever-changing space, the staff would be remiss if they didn't deck the crown jewel of the Golden Peacock out. The casino glitters from top to bottom, shining brighter than diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals! Party-goers are shiny and glamorous with picture perfect makeup, fluttering gowns, and sharp suits. Card tables are packed and the slot machines are a-ringing as guests play, play, play! Prizes, luxury, booze, attractive people, it's the place that everyone wants to be at.
Those people being dragged inside by some invisible force...? Silly, they were so excited to come that their bodies moved before they realized what was happening. Those are struggles of joy and definitely not the casino's infamous ghost hands dragging unwilling guests to the party at the behest of the house. Look, they're literally hurling their bodies at the card tables with unrestrained glee!
All clocks indicating day hours and night hours have been removed from the casino. Once a guest has entered, their Watch will jam, making it impossible to keep track of the time. You don't need to worry about that tonight.

▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's January event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. This month we also have an ongoing ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!

[It isn't easily that she feels punished for being assured. Sure, her smart mouth got her into trouble when she was young - before the sleepy, diligent life of overseeing a shrine took hold. Even back then, she'd usually been able to know in advance how things would go. She laughs, and there's even a thread of surprise in it.]
Nothing's stopping you from abstaining. Best out of four... it'd only put you at a mild disadvantage.
[Her legs are crossed under the table. She shifts, unfolding them to cross them in the opposite order in what is either a deliberate or self-conscious fidget. Winning and teasing are two very delightful things; why wouldn't she offer her gentle support to this other woman in a way that could hand her both? Miss Red looks... well, much too red; she's too shy to just be thrown into things like this. And as escalations go, this one has hit the table as if the dice were miniature bombs.]
[ Red squirms for a moment. She is not unfamiliar with sex, of course - it's really the thought of it happening in front of other people. Of having a complete stranger there. It's... well. It's the point of the game, isn't it? She sucks in a breath and then sits up a little straighter. ]
Don't look so put-out. I'll start seeing your chivalry as an insult instead. [It's no fur off her tail that the girl is shy. Frankly, this isn't her preferred venue for that sort of thing, either, so this benefits her in more ways than one. Spinning it as a kind gesture meant to preserve her modesty as well isn't really far from the truth, even if it's definitely meant to keep Red on her side. It really didn't take much to move things into a more advantageous place.
She rolls again, eyebrows lifting as the dice settle down on the numbers 3 and 7 - kiss neck.]
A little more your speed?
[She stands in one elegant, graceful motion, using the back of her hand to sweep her skirt down and flat as she swings out of the seat. Circling a little - just enough that it might seem like she's about to leave the table entirely - she rounds to the back of the other seat. It's an unusual but perfect position for leaning down close, draped over the furniture where she can't fully be seen.]
Well, I'm not gonna shrink away from it if that's what you mean-
[ Red retorts with a bit of a sour expression. She's taking a bit to really warm up to this whole game, but that's mostly because she's still adjusting to this place. Well, that's one of the reasons, anyway. It's a little complicated. She glances at Miko as she starts to stand and Red straightens a little in her seat, reaching up to fiddle with the collar of her shirt. She's not exactly nervous, but she's still working her way through this. At least mentally. ]
Are you taking your time or what?
[ it's a bit of a surly mutter as she resists the urge to glance back over her shoulder or tilt her head to one side. But she can feel Miko there, warm and present and close. ]
What if I am? Stalling is a legal play tactic, infuriating as it may be to you.
[As she speaks, she leans down further, bending until her hair and luxurious shawl cascade around the chair, forming a plush half curtain around them.]
It's only a bad technique if it's boring.
[There's the gentle pressure of her hand on the side of Red's head, pushing it to the side to make access to her neck. There are no teeth when she leans in to plant a kiss there - not even the hint of them - but the ghost of her breath gives the impression that she could if she wanted to anyway.]
[ The tips of her ears burn a bit, but she makes room for her. Her gaze goes forward and she presses her lips together. It doesn't muffle the little sigh that slips out of her when those lips brush her neck and her shoulders go a little stiff. ]
Hmm? [She hears the mumbling, and it's not the sort of moment or the sort of place where she should let this other woman expect that level of privacy.] Something else to say?
[She leaves her kiss behind like a gentle but indelible brand, thumb sweeping over the warm mark remaining in the wake of her mouth. Even though her turn is over, Miko stays where she is, draped languidly over the back of the seat. Cheek pressed close, she watches with glittering eyes, awaiting the next move.]
[ She's right there, draped against her, and it makes Red's heart start to race. A flush of heat that spreads over her cheeks. She rolls a shoulder and then turns her head slightly to try and catch a glimpse of her - and then she leans forward with a rush to pick up the dice and toss them.
Twelve. Ten.
Grind on genitals.
Red almost chokes. ]
...I'm not giving up a second one in a row. [ So she says, anyway. ]
So you say. [Even though the odds of this happening a second time are much lower than it happening once, Miko seems less surprised by this outcome. That, or she's elected to hide any true surprise that she actually feels, taking advantage in her feelings being obfuscated.]
Are you sure you haven't done something to these dice, stranger? You're getting some highly disarming rolls.
[From the way Red has been reacting, this is anything but convenient for her all around; the disadvantage is just as much hers, split evenly between them.]
Well, far be it from me to accuse anyone of rigging their rolls.
[She finally reemerged from the back side of Red's seat, coming around to lean the curve of her hip up against the game table. The height is fine: It should be easy enough to hop onto it if it becomes necessary.]
How fortunate for you that the dice didn't specify the part of you that needs grinding.
[The intended application is obvious, of course. Only a very naive person wouldn't draw the correct conclusion. That Miko isn't naive should be equally obvious, so it isn't genuine ignorance or playing dumb for some easy game. Beyond that, whether she's trying to trigger an unintentional foul or otherwise use her commentary on the rules as written... well, her poker face isn't budging, though her eyes have narrowed just enough that they aren't fully visible, perhaps hiding something within them.]
[ Oh, that's right. It hadn't. It takes her a moment to think about that, watching Miko, her brow furrowed. And then she thrusts her arm out with a touch of awkwardness, showing off her lower arm almost. ]
...this wouldn't bother you, right?
[ She comes off as stiff and awkward. Mainly because she is awkward... ]
Would it bother you? [she replies, almost as if the only reason Red might have possibly asked in the first place is a reflection of her own flagging discomfort. And it is something she truly seems to want to know.]
You should be able to trust me to tell you if there's a problem. [It's laughable, objectively. They've exchanged touches before they've exchanged names. They met at a game table and might not ever meet again. "Trust" really doesn't factor into the equation at all, even if Miko had set herself up to be an indisputably trustworthy figure.
She certainly speaks like someone who won't tolerate things that make her uncomfortable. Although... with just how adamantly dismissive she is, maybe there's the sliver of a chance she'd never admit openly to discomfort rather than bite back against it or flee.]
[ Red replies with a bit of a snap, although the anger isn't directed at Miko. ]
I'm being asked to halfway fuck people I've only just met. It's - weird. But that's the way this place is, from what I've been told! I think I'd be more weirded out if it didn't bother you, at least a little bit!
Testy, [she clucks as Red snaps at her, raising her hand with the palm gently curled not unlike how someone might try to calm an irritated and angry beast. She stops shy of actually touching her, which might be more infuriating than simply doing so... and perhaps that, too, is on purpose.]
I think the best thing to do is avoid overthinking it. Dwelling will only make it worse no matter how you or I happen to feel. Sooner or later, this will pass, too, like a bad dream. Although... is it really so unthinkable for a stranger to desire you?
[She likes to see people out of their element squirm, not suffer...for the most part. It just happens that someone who's seen so much also has such a lax definition of squirming.]
Well, that's one way to kill the mood. [Miko's voice is low and she speaks mostly under her breath. She murmurs it with very little edge to her voice. After all, there really was no "mood" to begin with save for a little bit of teasing that never fully got off the ground. There's no more effective way to hammer that home than by making that kind of comparison.]
All right, you got me. I love to see people squirm, but I'm much better at listening than whoever you've been dealing with before me.
[She scoots off of the table, making sure to smooth her skirt down along her leg as soon as she does.] Just go ahead and we'll forfeit all the remaining turns and call it done.
[ Red replies a bit sourly - a bit sarcastic. She's not sure if she should be taking that comment at face value or not and so she's a little prickly about. Or maybe it's the situation she finds herself in. Hard to say. ]
...fine. Done is done. You can call it your win, honestly.
[Miko walks her fingers along the table, taking away eye contact in a way she's sure will be frustrating.] Yes, you can run along now.
[She says it like she's shooing Red off, but really, knowing the way things work here, Miko assumes there's no prize to be had at all if they end prematurely. What a letdown.
But what an annoying victory it would be - against someone so lost and so keen on self-denial. She'll have to keep an eye on this one.]
[ Red grits her teeth and for a moment it almost seems like she might stick around to argue the point - but then common sense gets the better of her and she slouches off with a little mutter.

It's just - ugh, this is awkward.
