【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
Due to a high volume of check-ins, temporary accommodations have been made in our parking garage for all new arrivals. We aim to have all guests moved into their reserved rooms as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience!
All are invited to There Is No Tomorrow, a Phoenix Casino soiree to celebrate our beloved guests. The festivities will begin at 1800 hours on January 20th and end at 1800 hours on January 27th. Please look forward to 168 hours of delight.
In an effort to raise happiness and encourage better guest relationships, attendance is required. The house will assist guests that are too shy to appear of their own accord. Please note that black tie attire is mandatory. As always, we hope you enjoy your stay! 】
PARKING GARAGE
ANY CAR IN A STORM
PHOENIX CASINO HALL
WELCOME TO THE NEXT 168 HOURS
Phoenix Casino is a-flutter with activity and packed to the beak with guests. As a famously ever-changing space, the staff would be remiss if they didn't deck the crown jewel of the Golden Peacock out. The casino glitters from top to bottom, shining brighter than diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals! Party-goers are shiny and glamorous with picture perfect makeup, fluttering gowns, and sharp suits. Card tables are packed and the slot machines are a-ringing as guests play, play, play! Prizes, luxury, booze, attractive people, it's the place that everyone wants to be at.
Those people being dragged inside by some invisible force...? Silly, they were so excited to come that their bodies moved before they realized what was happening. Those are struggles of joy and definitely not the casino's infamous ghost hands dragging unwilling guests to the party at the behest of the house. Look, they're literally hurling their bodies at the card tables with unrestrained glee!
All clocks indicating day hours and night hours have been removed from the casino. Once a guest has entered, their Watch will jam, making it impossible to keep track of the time. You don't need to worry about that tonight.
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's January event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. This month we also have an ongoing ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
[ ...ahh, being fixed in a gaze not unlike the gentle caress of a spiked bat upside the head. Truly, just like home.
Lucky that his skull's thick no matter where he crashes. ]
Uh. A little? [ Lighter answers as if he's paring the bitter rind back from the genuine sentiment beneath. Like, he's really thinking here. ] It's more like... the implication seems sad, more than the lack or dust or wear itself. You know?
[ He reaches out to the nearest glossy hood, tough fingers skirting its seam. No dirt, no fingerprints, no cactus spines. Not even a little creature living in there, damn. ]
The whole point of a ride is the freedom to go somewhere. It's a shame that it looks untouched.
[ There are other Implications at work here, but. Let's talk dust. For now. ]
( it’s an answer he finds himself unable to disagree with, as much as he would have preferred to. a facsimile of luxury does little to disguise the underlying stagnancy the resort manages to exude within the parking garage alone. mankind has always craved freedom—and so he must begrudgingly grant lighter none other than: ) Five points.
( this is not necessarily enough to bring his score out of the negatives. )
By all means, the vehicles appear to be as pristine as they are pointless. ( ratio chooses to simply accept his be-furred state, here; there are more important things at hand, such as this pop quiz. ) What sort of properties do you then suppose that transfers to us, as their assigned occupants?
( there’s only so much to talk about when it comes to dust. let’s hear those Implications on your mind, buddy. )
[ (guy who is unaware he started in the negatives) ]
I suppose... [ One palm steadied on the car like it's a horse in need of a stabilizing touch, Lighter is about to answer with all due sincerity when realization shadows his expression. What's currently visible of it, anyway. ] Actually, hold on.
( at least he’s polite enough to put up a paw before asking teacher… )
You believe it to be a test? I’m only soliciting an opinion. Given that we’ve been thrust into a world of unknowns, some of which are likely to remain as such despite our efforts, I’d prefer to at least have a measure of my peers if nothing else.
( in short: yes. it is. )
If you remain apprehensive, do consider that all interactions between lifeforms are assessed in some manner or another. Whether or not it’s openly stated changes little about the fact that a determination is being made. ( so start talking, boy. )
Anyone would be apprehensive when getting an answer like that. Also, I'm not apprehensive.

So. My secret standing aside, [ he's still not a knower... ] I wouldn't say that I'm comparing our situation to these cars. At least not one-to-one. But I think it gives us an idea of what kind of place this is. Why all the luxury just to let it rot down here? Even the most cautious bigwigs back home would be parading these things around for self-satisfaction, if nothing else.
[ And here, in the dim chaos of their displacement, where car horns and music are intermittently blasting, people are crawling out of (or into...) backseats, and constant engine reverb sounds off concrete, it's all just decay. More than any wasteland he's been in, where unapologetic life has shattered things into an earned disuse. ]
Seems to me like we're not here for our own benefit. [ He lifts his hand to swivel his be-watched wrist around. ] No matter what this thing says. But then, looking at all this down here... it doesn't exactly yield a good picture of our hosts, either.
( it's a cacophony of noise that means nothing, says nothing. a faint layer of gold painted so thinly the rust still shows underneath. ratio's lips thin into a sharp line, both from the assessment presented and the fact that he has little to add. none of the observations are particularly in-depth, but then—how much can even be said, from the backseat of a car whose lack of grime is more conspicuous than its presence would have been?
perhaps this is his cue to haul himself out, finally, brushing off dust that doesn't exist as he straightens on his feet. just two hoyo men, standing at the exact same approximate height because the models only come in so many sizes... )
While I would agree none of this is to our benefit as a whole, it seems there are still benefits to be had. For instance—clothing vouchers. ( he taps the watch. so it claims, anyway. ) Unless you'd prefer to stay lounging here as you are.
( one stiff breeze away from a category three incident. at least there's nothing of the sort in a parking garage, but who can say about the rest of the hotel. )
