【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
Due to a high volume of check-ins, temporary accommodations have been made in our parking garage for all new arrivals. We aim to have all guests moved into their reserved rooms as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience!
All are invited to There Is No Tomorrow, a Phoenix Casino soiree to celebrate our beloved guests. The festivities will begin at 1800 hours on January 20th and end at 1800 hours on January 27th. Please look forward to 168 hours of delight.
In an effort to raise happiness and encourage better guest relationships, attendance is required. The house will assist guests that are too shy to appear of their own accord. Please note that black tie attire is mandatory. As always, we hope you enjoy your stay! 】

ANY CAR IN A STORM
PHOENIX CASINO HALL
WELCOME TO THE NEXT 168 HOURS
Phoenix Casino is a-flutter with activity and packed to the beak with guests. As a famously ever-changing space, the staff would be remiss if they didn't deck the crown jewel of the Golden Peacock out. The casino glitters from top to bottom, shining brighter than diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals! Party-goers are shiny and glamorous with picture perfect makeup, fluttering gowns, and sharp suits. Card tables are packed and the slot machines are a-ringing as guests play, play, play! Prizes, luxury, booze, attractive people, it's the place that everyone wants to be at.
Those people being dragged inside by some invisible force...? Silly, they were so excited to come that their bodies moved before they realized what was happening. Those are struggles of joy and definitely not the casino's infamous ghost hands dragging unwilling guests to the party at the behest of the house. Look, they're literally hurling their bodies at the card tables with unrestrained glee!
All clocks indicating day hours and night hours have been removed from the casino. Once a guest has entered, their Watch will jam, making it impossible to keep track of the time. You don't need to worry about that tonight.
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's January event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. This month we also have an ongoing ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!

[ He smiles brightly, maybe a bit too widely, in answer to Red's look. He's a fox, so naturally he can't help being a little playful with the newcomer. Particularly one that seems ready to chow down on the party food with no worries. ]
What does everyone want? What do you want right now?
[ Seimei points to Red's plate full of bits of various dishes. ]
[ Red grimaces and glances down at her plate. That's not a nice thought, is it? To be someone else's meal. She juggles the plate for a moment and then looks at him with a deep frown. ]
...so they're feeding off of us. This is just fattening us up for the slaughter.
[ Metaphorically, anyway. ]
They're not actually... cutting bits off of us, are they?
[ Like most youkai, Seimei tends to measure the world in terms of what can be eaten. Everyone in the world belongs to the natural order and must be predator or prey eventually. At least, those are the laws in the spirit realm. He probably shouldn't apply that logic to a complete stranger, but she seems to agree on some level. ]
That's a little extreme, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. They didn't bring us here by accident, right? So they're taking something...
[ Seimei picks up a morsel of food from Red's plate and grins as he holds it up. ]
They seem more interested in what we can provide while alive rather than making a meal out of us. We're just here to be willing participants. We provide a special service, you know?
[ He shouldn't look that amused by it, but he gives her a vulpine grin as he eats the stolen food. ]
[ Red gives him a look, but when she doesn't actually stop him from taking food right off of her plate, he decides it's clearly permission to keep bothering her. After all, they are both stuck there, essentially teammates since they are facing the same situation. Doesn't that mean they are partners already?
Well, he's going to keep picking bites up off of her plate anyway. ]
Yes, something like that. It's a place that seems to collect people, and people are good at providing energy. Maybe because the owner is jealous, or maybe it's something something they can't produce themselves, but if they were bringing us here just to get rid of us or take something more directly, they wouldn't have to create such an elaborate stage to do it, right? They're providing us with motivation.
[ He pops another bite into his mouth and chews thoughtfully on it. ]
[ He makes an attempt to steal another snack and ends up thwarted when Red pulls her plate away. Chasing after it, Seimei reaches for the food to no avail. Alas. But that doesn't mean he's given up quite yet. ]
That's true. They could enjoy their work. In fact, since there are so many games involved, I'm sure they do. I suppose the better question is, are you going to play along?
[ The resort certainly doesn't make doing anything else easy, but it's always worth asking. After all, the fox likes poking his nose into their business as much as he does anyone else's. ]
[ He pouts when Red won't let him take more of her food, but not easily discouraged, Seimei pivots to sidling up to her instead. He's enjoying the company if nothing else, and like every fox, he needs to get into everyone else's space just on principle. ]
Hm... but we have no way of getting out. It's not that bad so far, although we probably do need to go home eventually.
[ He has all the time in the world, but that's not exactly a comfort either. ]
What are your plans while you're here?
[ That's probably the first actually serious question he's asked. ]
[ If his tails were showing, he'd be waving them right now. The question definitely has Seimei leaning in closer, even more than before, as he meets her suspicious gaze with an eager smile. ]
Of course! It's more helpful to explore with a team, right? There's safety in numbers... and they'll pair us up anyway. It's easier if we already have friends to call on.
[ He's not sure if she has picked up on the House's real goal yet, but it's true either way. ]
[ Far from offended, the fox is amused. He's used to people not wanting to trust him--with good reason, considering who he is. And more refreshing is just hearing someone be forthright with him. It's pleasantly honest. ]
Oh? You don't think I'm attractive at all?
[ He puts on a mock show of injury. ]
Well, that's harsh. I wonder what great lover I'm being compared with?
[ Seimei keeps grinning, arms crossed. ]
That's fine. There's nothing wrong with just being friends, is there?
I'm not a woman... and I suppose if I were, I wouldn't have the same elegance and stamina. I haven't danced in a long time. It would take a lot of work...
[ Yes, he is thinking hard about it like a viable possibility. And then he just moves on to her next statement, smiling as he looks back at her flat expression with a tilt of his head. ]
That a good point! You should be cautious when it comes to strangers. What if we start with introductions and you decide later? You can call me Seimei. I was brought here too, and I have no affiliation with the owners of this place.
[ He cheerfully bows and then offers his hand to her like they're conducting some kind of first interview. ]
[ Red seems a little nonplussed by his digression. Elegance? Stamina? She's not asking him to dance, right? She sighs and shakes her head after a moment. ]
...Irene Red. You can just call me Red.
[ She opts not to throw her military rank in. Seems a bit pointless at the moment, anyway. After a moment she takes his hand and shakes it, giving it a firm squeeze. ]
Can't say it's mine either, but I don't know if a war zone really counts the same as... all of this.
[ He repeats it like he's committing it to memory. Like it's becoming concrete as more than just her name, but carries weight. His handshake, however, is gentle, easily squeezed in her firm grip. ]
A war zone? Did you come from a battlefield, then?
[ That's definitely different from what he's heard from others. ]
You might be surprised. Even things that seem bad in the beginning might have good intentions.
[ That is a little closer to home for him than what they are probably dealing with, but Seimei is someone that has always found the silver lining to every storm cloud... mostly because he's had to. ]
I'm sure with that determination you will get back home, but isn't it important to make sure you get back in good health? Both your body and mind are sacred.

Food. That's what we are.

no subject
Right. What we provide while we're alive.
[ She lifts a hand and gestures. ]
All of this? This luxury and opulence? That's what they want out of us? Some kinda emotional... uh... resonance?
[ She had to think of the appropriate word there for a few moments. ]
no subject
Well, he's going to keep picking bites up off of her plate anyway. ]

That, or they just like messing with us.
no subject
It could always be both.
[ She points that out with a snort. ]
They want something from us and they like messing with us. That's not hard to think about, is it?
no subject
[ He makes an attempt to steal another snack and ends up thwarted when Red pulls her plate away. Chasing after it, Seimei reaches for the food to no avail. Alas. But that doesn't mean he's given up quite yet. ]

...like Hell. I'm not going to help them keep me locked up here, no matter how pleasant it seems like it might be.
[ She just... has to figure out how to do that effectively. ]
no subject
Hm... but we have no way of getting out. It's not that bad so far, although we probably do need to go home eventually.
[ He has all the time in the world, but that's not exactly a comfort either. ]
What are your plans while you're here?
[ That's probably the first actually serious question he's asked. ]
no subject
[ She sounds a little irritated. ]
What other plans would I have?
no subject
[ By "might" he means definitely not, but it's always better to let people decide their own fate. ]
What about in the meantime? You'll probably need allies if you're going to make it out. One person can't topple an entire empire alone.
no subject
[ She eyeballs him. ]
Are you offering to be an ally?
no subject
Of course! It's more helpful to explore with a team, right? There's safety in numbers... and they'll pair us up anyway. It's easier if we already have friends to call on.
[ He's not sure if she has picked up on the House's real goal yet, but it's true either way. ]
no subject
[ She's been kind of picking up on that, honestly. ]
No offense, you're not really my type. And I don't even know if I trust you or not.
no subject
[ Far from offended, the fox is amused. He's used to people not wanting to trust him--with good reason, considering who he is. And more refreshing is just hearing someone be forthright with him. It's pleasantly honest. ]

no subject
[ Her voice is a touch flat, but she's doing her best not to snap. ]
I also don't know you well enough to say if we should be friends just yet.
[ Although she gets the feeling that she's got to figure this place out and she's going to need as much help as she can get. ]
no subject
[ Seimei taps his chin thoughtfully. ]

But it isn't my first time in a strange place.

no subject
[ She scoffs. ]
Feels like a bad joke to wake up in a sex resort.
no subject
Perhaps being pulled away is what you needed.
no subject
[ She sounds determined about that. ]
And this isn't a vacation anyway! It's a creepy sex resort!
no subject
[ That is a little closer to home for him than what they are probably dealing with, but Seimei is someone that has always found the silver lining to every storm cloud... mostly because he's had to. ]

[ "They" being the hotel and whoever runs it. ]
I get the point - don't kill myself over it - but it's not as simple as that.
no subject
[ Probably not. Not when they constantly harass the guests. But he's never been the type to show concern. ]
What do you mean? Isn't it more important to look after yourself than potentially fall into traps trying to escape?
