【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
Due to a high volume of check-ins, temporary accommodations have been made in our parking garage for all new arrivals. We aim to have all guests moved into their reserved rooms as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience!
All are invited to There Is No Tomorrow, a Phoenix Casino soiree to celebrate our beloved guests. The festivities will begin at 1800 hours on January 20th and end at 1800 hours on January 27th. Please look forward to 168 hours of delight.
In an effort to raise happiness and encourage better guest relationships, attendance is required. The house will assist guests that are too shy to appear of their own accord. Please note that black tie attire is mandatory. As always, we hope you enjoy your stay! 】

ANY CAR IN A STORM
PHOENIX CASINO HALL
WELCOME TO THE NEXT 168 HOURS
Phoenix Casino is a-flutter with activity and packed to the beak with guests. As a famously ever-changing space, the staff would be remiss if they didn't deck the crown jewel of the Golden Peacock out. The casino glitters from top to bottom, shining brighter than diamonds, rubies, sapphires, opals! Party-goers are shiny and glamorous with picture perfect makeup, fluttering gowns, and sharp suits. Card tables are packed and the slot machines are a-ringing as guests play, play, play! Prizes, luxury, booze, attractive people, it's the place that everyone wants to be at.
Those people being dragged inside by some invisible force...? Silly, they were so excited to come that their bodies moved before they realized what was happening. Those are struggles of joy and definitely not the casino's infamous ghost hands dragging unwilling guests to the party at the behest of the house. Look, they're literally hurling their bodies at the card tables with unrestrained glee!
All clocks indicating day hours and night hours have been removed from the casino. Once a guest has entered, their Watch will jam, making it impossible to keep track of the time. You don't need to worry about that tonight.
▶ All characters on the TDM are WILDCARDS, which means they have not yet been assigned a card value. Suits will not manifest until characters are accepted into the game.
▶ All TDMs are game canon. This TDM acts as the game's January event.
▶ Current characters may top level on the TDM. Any current characters posting to the TDM should note they are current in their subject header.
▶ The top level directory is for new characters only. We want to make sure new characters are prioritized and receive attention! If you would be interested in a game invitation, you can note that in your comment header. This month we also have an ongoing ATP / EMP where players can connect. Please feel free to utilize this for all of your peafowl needs!
▶ If you aren't satisfied with these prompts, please feel free to check out our LOCATIONS to explore more of the resort!
▶ Smut threads that take place on this TDM can be used for rewards. If both parties in the smut thread join the game, you may retroactively apply the character's initial card values to your 52 bank. If one character does not join the game the thread will not be applicable toward rewards (as that character would not have a card value). The character that does join would still receive a small payout for the encounter. Hopefully it was a fun thread regardless!
▶ We ask you to kindly add content warnings to your threads as appropriate.
▶ If you do not currently have permissions and kinks listed in your character’s journal we suggest leaving a note in your top level of any limits or boundaries for other players to reference.
[ Is it that obvious? But she's not sure she likes the sound of "new arrival". It implies people have been around for a longer. And it implies that she might be stuck here. Not a pleasant thought. ]
As of a few hours ago. Or however long it's been. Right before this whole party started.
[ She leans over to watch her play with the cat - and maybe her eyes linger a little on her hair. It reminds her of a certain someone. ]
[ A crease briefly appears in her brow, there and gone in the span of two heartbeats. ]
Well, in that case, welcome.
[ Her pause with the makeshift cat toy leads to the kitten rearing back and launching itself featherward, paws reaching. ]
Ah. A warrior, I see.
[ The cat, that is, and where she would once take care not to draw attention when feeding strays at Garreg Mach she can't quite keep evidence of being charmed out of her voice now. After a moment she looks up toward her new acquaintance again. ]
I arrived about a year ago, believe it or not. It's still my hope that many of us will one day rise up against those who have brought us here but so far we have learned little about them.
[ Hearing this said aloud in such surprise doesn't help her own dismay over it but she reacted much the same to long-term guests when she first arrived. Again she looks up from where the cat bats at the feather tickler. ]
I understand. I have a war to return to myself.
As far as I have been able to tell, we are being used as a power source. You will meet guests who have been here for much longer than a year and they are not as vibrant as you and I are now. They are hungry hollow people who have seemingly been juiced like fruits. My goal is to return long before I become like them.
[ That makes her give Red a little more of an assessing look. ]
A break you did not ask for and probably can't afford.
[ A forced vacation: she has felt this deeply in her time here, although not everyone she has found from her world has felt the same urgency to return. ]
Juiced in magical sense, over time. I don't fully understand it myself yet but the energy we produce when intimate is clearly vital to the resort's operations and possibly to the power and well-being of those who have brought us here, and the control they have over us is so great that there is no real way not to play the game to some degree so it is useful to find like-minded allies.
[ Her eyebrows rise slightly. Just Red? Well, she can't say it isn't accurate. ]
In that case, I'm glad to meet you. Being here for this long has not dampened my desire to return to my task.
[ It's given her much to think about. There are even people she will miss. But her driving force has not changed.
She offers a small smile. ]
My name is Edelgard. I'll be happy to help if you have questions as you learn your way around. [ She lifts the wrist her resort-provided watch has been around for the last year, a move that lifts the feather tickler away from the kitten's clutches. ] I was not used to technology like this when I arrived. Is it familiar to you?
[ Cars are not an unfamiliar concept at this point; though she has spent very little time in the garage she has also seen movies. Radios are less familiar, something she only hints at with a mild wrinkle in her forehead. ]
Then it seems you are a step ahead of where I was on arrival. Many of the people I have met are from worlds where elevators and text messaging are common.
[ She glances down just in time to see the kitten bonk into her ankle. Reaching down with her free hand, she scoops it up. ]
Sometime when we aren't being forced to attend a party I would like to hear about the war you left at home.
I'm not familiar with telegrams. [ This feels like a gap in her ongoing education. ] But for messages your watch allows several options: audio, video, text. Text messages require a slower letter-by-letter approach that is reminiscent of playing a piano but many here seem accustomed to it.
[ She's much faster at it than she used to be but she wouldn't say it comes naturally to her.
Positioning the kitten in the crook of her arm, she idly taps the feathers against its nose. ]
We are not the only ones here who have been taken from a time of war. I'd simply be curious to hear about what you fight for.
[ Again her brow creases. A typewriter? The word itself kind of makes sense in this context based on what she's learned but she'll have to look into what exactly it is. ]
Think of the video option as kind of window between you and the person you're communicating with. On your screens you can see and hear each other almost as you would in person.
[ It's remarkable, in her opinion. How convenient to communicate with other people this way despite any distance. To say nothing of how these methods of communication could change managing an army.
[ That clicks. Makes sense to her. She sighs after a moment. ]
...well, we're fighting the Avians because they invaded the Reptilians and we don't want to be next. That's the reason for it. And I wanted to protect the people important to me so I went ahead and joined up.
heeeeeey <3

[ Red seems startled by that. Dismayed, even. ]
What do they want from you? From us? There's - a lot going on back home. I can't just sit here for a year!
[ For the moment she isn't looking at the cat. The thought of being here for a whole year is dismaying. ]

...yeah. I got a war I'm in the middle of myself. It'd be easy to just take this as a break, but...
[ That's not how she's built. ]
Wait. Juiced? How?

[ She sighs and then sharpens up a little as she listens. ]
You're telling me. Getting used up like that - no thanks. I'm not gonna stick around for that if I can help it.
[ She does pause again, as if seeing Edelgard's hair for the first time and then- ]
I'm Red, by the way.

[ Despite, well, everything. Red glances at the little watch and after a moment shakes her head. ]
We had cars and radios and things like that. Pocket watches. Wristwatches. But nothing like this. It's beyond what we could do.
[ She's not afraid to admit that, honestly. ]

[ Red's brow furrows. She's not familiar with texting. ]
We have elevators, though. Can't believe you don't.
[ That's a bit of an amused aside before they're back to more serious things. She looks startled. ]
Wait, really? It's a war. It's not exactly pleasant, you know.

[ She's not quite sure what that is. Text and audio are self-explanatory to her, though. ]
The writing part sounds like a typewriter or something. Just, uh, smaller.
[ She scratches her head, still frowning. ]
...I guess my country. More than that, the people in it.
