TDM 05

【 Thank you for choosing the Golden Peacock, 5-star resort and casino. You are currently registered as a WILDCARD in our system.
Due to a high volume of check-ins, temporary accommodations have been made in our KING SUITES for all new arrivals. We will endeavor to have all guests moved into their reserved rooms as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience.
As a token of our gratitude for your understanding, front reception has arranged for a GRAND FEAST to welcome our newest guests. The attendance of all guests is required. The house will enforce compliance.
Please note that rank-appropriate attire is mandatory. Guests found breaking social code may be disciplined. We hope you enjoy your stay! 】

ARRIVAL
DIVINE AWAKENING

All King suites have been set to the Heavenly setting for the comfort of these new Wildcards. To call this place a room feels like a misnomer; all of the senses scream that this is a real temple at the top of a crisp oceanside mountain. The only clue that this place isn't what it seems is the door in the distance. It stands dark against light, a stark rectangle distinctly out of place.
New arrivals aren't waking up alone. Reception would never expect their guests to wake up in a cold bed. All new guests will be waking up next to another Wildcard or a current guest snatched up from the hallways. Guests waking up in these heavenly King suites will wake dressed in sheer white tunics and togas that leave very little to the imagination.
GILDED CAGE
AN ENDLESS FEAST

Rugs and cushions have been laid out for low rank guests. All high rank guests have thrones and benches covered in crushed velvet and delicate linens. Wildcards have a seat of honor amongst it all, each fresh new divine lead to the grand dais for their own semi-private tent with daybed and eager servants.
Low ranks are carefully watched by security and wait staff. Some low rank guests may even be dragged in by resort staff to assist serving high rank guests and Wildcards. All high rank guests and Wildcards are revered and catered to during the feast. Low rank guests are expected to feed them, rub their feet, and comply with any whimsical demands. Any low rank guest that defies a higher ranked guest is at risk of being shackled, forced to scrub chamber pots, and other humiliating punishments.

PHOENIX CASINO
ALEA IACTA EST

The game tables are abuzz. Special games have kicked off in honor of the new godlings that are waiting to check in. Even here, those of different ranks are distinct from one another. The lowest ranks wear small slips of clothing. Some are even collared to show they belong to a particular royal or Wildcard. Royals and Wildcards dress luxuriously in thick robes and golden jewelry.
Game managers clap and encourage guests of all ranks to join in on the fun. While there are numerous card games, slot machines, and raffles happening around the casino, staff are promoting three events in particular.
BEAK
ENTERTAIN YOUR BETTERS

Beneath the open arena is a smaller closed arena and the warrior’s bunk. Warriors will find cold showers, rustic wooden benches, and training weapons available for their use. Deep in the earth is a grimy prison where servants who refuse to battle are thrown to wait for their turn. There are also cages where the hungry “animals” wait to go out and entertain the masses.
A long track rings around the perimeter of the arena. Gone is the standard green fuzz and white lines, replaced with stone and dust to elicit the real feeling of running beneath the hot Grecian sun. Foot and chariot races take place throughout the day.
TALON
SHOW OF STRENGTH

Servants that appear too fragile to handle mud wrestling have been conscripted into the oil bearer role. Their job is to slather the warriors in oil from head to toe, and otherwise prepare them for their matches in either the arena or in the pit. This includes styling their hair, tending to their wounds, and wiping the sweat off of their bodies if so desired.
The locker rooms that connect Beak and Talon have been fully stocked with first aid kits and luxury bathing supplies. Warriors that have won their matches get first pick, leaving the dirty towels and shampoo that smells like ass for the losers to sift through. Those sneaky ghost hands are having a field day, snapping rat tails at unsuspecting bathers and locking naked warriors together in the supply closet. Guests lacking vigilance may find their bottoms unexpectedly pinched.

INDULGENCE
DESIRES FROM THE VOID

Things begin to move around the resort. The forgotten and the old exhale a dusty breath. Like the hunger that the Wildcards woke up with upon arrival, as its heart begins to beat quicker, there is a tension in the air of those things hungering to feed. To join in, and indulge. To get what they want.
And they’re coming out.

And of course Fuuta does a little double-take at the demand of stakes. Here, he'd been thinking he'd skedaddle the first chance he got, probably while Obikawa was distracted looking through the myriad cabinets. Ugh. ]
Why would I wanna know anything embarrassing about you. [ An ornery grumble. Maybe he can still look for an opportunity to escape. For now, Fuuta grudgingly trudges into the swirl of blaring lights and loud jingles, letting go of Obikawa's wrist so the guy can wander off if he wants. (Please wander off, please wander off.) ] I dunno, you're the one who wanted to play games ... I can play most stuff, though. Just none of the light-gun games, not right now. And I guess not the basketball one.
[ He's still yet to fully adjust to his new lack of depth perception. ]
no subject
Let's play a fighting game, then!
[ Grabbing Fuuta by the wrist now. He'll need to pry himself off (maybe even try biting) to get Obikawa to let go. ]
no subject
You talk like you're gonna win for sure, but I'm not just gonna lie down and let you steamroller me.
[ Said with a huff as he quickens his pace a step to better keep up, just so he doesn't feel like a dog getting yanked along on a leash. ]
I don't want an embarrassing story, though. You're gonna owe me a favor each time I win. Then we can play. -- aah, wait, wait. There. [ He digs his heels in a little to get Obikawa to slow down, pointing down the aisle with his free hand. ] The fighting games down that way. You can pick any of'em.
no subject
I'm just confident, like you are. [ And let's be real, between himself and Tokinaga who is going to learn combos and effective parrying? Especially if it means winning the last beer or slice of pizza; a wave of memories comforting and warm, making Obikawa unconsciously smile. ]
A favor? You need help picking out an outfit for a hot date? I'm your guy!
[ He speaks so quickly that it takes a moment for him to stop once Fuuta begins to drag his heels. Quickly looking over in the direction of his pointed finger before taking off down the aisle, mirthfully drinking in the view of bright lights and pixelated characters already fighting across multiple screens. He comes to an abrupt stop once he's found one that catches his eye. ]
Oh! This one!
[ This one... ]
no subject
[ Then his words cut off with a grunt as Obikawa drags him down the aisle, jostling him around so abruptly that he can feel his shoulder joint creak in complaint. He needs a second to gather his senses even once they've come to a stop, and Fuuta ends up looking from Obikawa, to his chosen game, then back with a dubious squint. ]
This game looks garbage.
[ But, well. He's played his modest share of kusoge, he supposes. Fuuta heaves a dramatic sigh before pulling out one of the little stools to take a seat before the cabinet. ]
Well, I guess it's fine, though. I guess it's fairer if it's something I haven't played before, either ... [ Though honestly, he'd rather have the advantage, even if it's a little unfair. He just won't admit it. ]
no subject
[ Obikawa huffs, turning up his nose as he sits, legs spread as he takes a seat on the provided stool next to Fuuta. Spreading his fingers before a hand wraps around the the fighting stick. ]
For two hours? Sure, but if you're gonna say something like "leave me alone", I'm never gonna play anything with you again. Ever. [ Like that's a legitimate threat... but he's taking this very seriously! ]
no subject
before catching himself at the last second and shutting it, pursing his lips. Okay, no, he's not stupid. As tempting as it is to immediately pull that card and say, 'leave me alone,' because that's exactly what he wants ... this guy seems kinda wacky. Using it this abruptly would probably just make him mad or even clingier. Probably best to save it for a bit later, when it feels more natural? Yeah. He's got this.
So after that (totally natural, don't worry about it) pause, Fuuta just shrugs his shoulder before entering the character select screen. He usually goes for rushdowns, but ... god, what the hell even is this roster. The dog will have to do. ]
Fine. Two hours. Just remember you agreed to it, so you can't go backing out when you lose.
[ He's going to start the match as soon as Obikawa looks like he's settled on his character choice. ]
no subject
… I cry really loud and ugly.
[ Apparently not! And after shifting through the available animals for thirty seconds too long he chooses the Tricky Fox. ] Hehe, why’d you pick the dog? They all look like they’d be grappling types of characters, right? I wonder if the whale does wrestling moves. [ He’s yapping away as the screen loads, the characters coming into screen to fight at a local park. Immediately Obikawa will move to take the offense — and to figure out the controls. This game is on steam I just realized?? ]
no subject
I picked this guy cause he looks like he’d have more standard controls. I usually play rushdown, but I can handle all-rounders, so.
[ There’s a pause as he considers whether he really wants to say what he’s about to say next. It might be looking for more trouble than it’s worth. But also, he’s starting to get tired of feeling like he’s being jerked around by this guy, so after a nervous lick of the lips, he tries to act as nonchalant as possible as he tosses out: ]
And you should know there’s all sorts of people here who can do weird shit. Magic, or weird martial arts, or superpowers, or whatever. So I dunno what you’re trying to hint at by acting all mysterious, but I bet it won’t be as impressive as you think it is.
no subject
[ At least that's not a lie? ]
Are you worried I'm gonna get in trouble?
