[ The director, Aerith thinks vaguely, seems much happier this time. First, there's the way Zack sweeps through the room, the kind of hero they want instead of a real one, slicing down his enemies before setting his sights on her. They even seem to approve of his "line" as he does reach her, his hand reaching out to her cheek.

Aerith knows, though, that it's not just a line. This isn't a "sorry it took me a while to get here, maiden fair". It's not even a "sorry I arrived at the resort after you".

No, Zack's apology is one spoken for years of pain, for promises unfulfilled. For each and every letter sent his way.

Her eyes brim with a gentle wash of tears, and she leans into the hand that caresses her cheek, and Aerith shakes her head as well as she can when she's bound to the altar. ]

There's no need to apologize, [ she whispers back. Despite her earlier, conflicted feelings, she means it. ] You're here now.

[ Another one for them to be happy with, it seems, if the director and producers' nods to one another are anything to go by. Another one, too, borne only of honesty, despite working perfectly well in this moment. Truthfully, her attention isn't really on the men filming the scene. Aerith's smile is patient and understanding as she looks up at him. Now... now they're close, and it shouldn't matter too much what they say, so long as they do what the script says, which...

...is to have deeply passionate sex. ]

I'm sorry it has to be like this. But I...

[ How can she express that there's a part of her that doesn't mind, even though they're in front of a camera? That it's okay, because it's with him? ]

If you know what kind of place this is, then you know there's only one way these are coming undone, right..? What I mean is, you know... [ A sigh, as she shakes her head just that little bit. ] I'm sorry, Zack.
