[ Edelgard does not consider herself an actor. She has kept secrets, at times told lies, worn masks both literal and figurative. But an actor? No.

Yet here she is, and perhaps she has taken her character increasingly seriously over the course of the day but this scene feels significant. All the warriors agree to be intimate with the dragon but she is not playing a seductress. She is playing a warrior who, after an increasingly sexual (sometimes in a simulated way, always partially clothed) journey to get to the dragon's lair, is entertaining this option because freeing captives without bloodshed would be ideal. And also, apparently, because the dragon is convincingly attractive? The script has plenty of flaws, in her not quite humble opinion, but this is a bit of a sticking point for her.

Still, when she enters the chamber and her eyes find Dan Heng they're compelled to walk quickly down and then back up his body because she has met him for conversation before but he didn't look like this. While she's well aware of his ability to transform she has to admit to herself that beauty had never occurred to her before this very moment.

That may be unfair: he was in no way unattractive before. Similarly, the Archbishop of the Church of Seiros is a beautiful woman but as the Immaculate One is fearsome indeed. When she last saw that draconic form she was much more intent on Rhea's murderous rage and how best to put space between them so she, at the time disarmed and uncertain of her allies. would not be at such a disadvantage. This, by comparison, is only a partial transformation and it's as novel as it is pleasing to look at.

Conveniently that is something the plot demands her character to think as well, she supposes, although she's not unamused by Dan Heng's delivery. The smile that just barely curves her lips before she speaks is meant for him and not the camera. Given an in-character opportunity to make herself presentable after her journey, she stands before him freshly bathed with her long white hair loose and shining, wavy from spending all day braided. Her chemise is modest by the resort's usual standards, framing her in a royal purple that sets off her eyes, but it bares her arms so the pale horizontal incision scars along the insides, too neat and purposeful to pass for battle scars or self-inflicted wounds, are visible. ]

You seem certain that I will not strike during a moment of intimacy.

[ It's a sharply pointed statement but doesn't drip with any particular venom. ]
