[ marco has never been one for extravagance himself, but even he did not think it was worth the grief of resisting insistent attendants. at least he isn't a stranger to suits, though this rental he's been given is far better fitted and of a far better quality than any he's ever put on in his life. it leaves him just a little self-conscious, one hand restlessly running over the folded lapel of the neatly-pressed suit; being of such a low rank, he can't help but worry any damage to the suit will simply detract its value from his already small number of credit.
it's this sort of distraction that has him not nearly as alert as he normally would be. that's why he doesn't even notice edelgard (though why would he think to look so high up to notice someone in the first place?) until she is right there, gently tapping on his head.
