[Sometimes, it's difficult to gauge exactly how someone will respond to the games and performances that dominate every waking (and some sleeping) moment at the resort. The longer-term guests who revel in everything have become easier for her to distinguish from the rest; they remind her always of Eastside's blind indulgences. When it comes to more recent additions to the hotel, those who seem to have arrived through no choice of their own, there's much more variety in how they respond to the environment. Some are a lot like her: out of their element in ways they'd rather not admit. Others have quickly made the most of what they have.

Whatever else her circumstances, Edelgard doesn't seem committed to the bit or primed to start bullying any lower rank with ridiculous orders. And though it's playing a social game that she finds more necessary and annoying than productive, Rahu files her observations away. The other people here are innocent; she doesn't want them to get involved or manipulate them to get ahead... but every interaction feels like groping blindly in the dark for purchase.]
