It's hard to say how much is just Peter's base personality and how much is his upbringing - what he was taught by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. But he's a pretty decent guy. He wants to do the right thing because it's the right thing. And he wants people to be happy - sometimes even to his own detriment.
The thing about where Loki is in his personal grown now, is that peter would tell him that he can get where he wants to be. The biggest piece of advice Peter would give is for Loki to not do things because it's what he thinks others want him to do, but to do them because they are what he's supposed to do - that 'right thing' angle. Then, also, to not expect praise and adulation for it. Because that is where the disappointment lies - and was always Beck's problem back in Duplicity.
Peter would also argue that no one - not even Loki - deserves to be in a place like this. This is the kind of place that makes 'bad guys' into 'worse guys' and corrupts 'good guys'. But, also, that sometimes, playing the games is how you get through.
Peter shrugs. "I - well, no." His head is still a little foggy. "Just - I dunno, man. Not used to people telling me that." It really hasn't been a thing. Not people saying it outright. Plus, in Duplicity, because of the quota system, it was often difficult to tell if repeat partners were due to convenience or actually enjoying the experience.
Now he sighs. "Yeah, right now, I really just - don't. But thanks."
