( maybe it’s not the best approach all the time. if makoto wasn’t completely convinced that this young man would take the nuclear option immediately upon him showing him to Roost, he might very well have offered to take him there himself…
the young demon has his own irons in the fire. as far as he can tell, J seems to be a faction onto himself, seemingly opposing to the House within the resort itself. it’s a curious situation that he would like to learn more about before he decided how to make the best of it for himself. the goal of “getting home,” which most were so devoted to, is less important to him than gaining power. winning the House’s game could seemingly be used for any goal, if they really would grant any wish, but it does lead him to wonder—was there anything to gain by supporting J instead? or, perhaps, attempting to play both sides off one another to take whatever boons either would give him?
it’s the type of thing that would take time to figure out, which is why he’s here right now, on the beach, trying to enjoy himself.
makoto smiles. ) Some of us, more than others.
( he’s not even mortal anymore. he would admit that does make him a little more amenable to the “wait and see” option than those still tethered to its wheel.
he nods. ) Basically. He seems to like favors and secrets, either told to him in confidence or told to… everyone.
( a cloud passes over his expression as he mentions that. you have to be careful about certain conversations you have on the network… sometimes it doesn’t really tell you that they are impossible to lock or keep private. makoto has gotten more and more cautious about what he’s willing to share via text. )
Will do. ( if this information has value to bakugou, makoto is more than willing to deal in it—that’s what a proper demon would do, after all. though, he does say one last thing, ) …For whatever reason, J seems more interested in our groups of guests than others before us. I’m not really sure why… but it makes him more likely to reach out once every few months or so, or at least that’s how the pattern has seemed thus far. It’s worth asking around, of course, but you might have your own opportunity to try to get answers soon enough.
( or maybe not. it’s not like he understand’s resort-J’s thoughts and plans any more than his own master’s. )
