[A pretend relationship? His vents hum as explains her reasoning. Hmmmmm.]

I think... it's doable.

[That's a good enough compromise, he supposes. Still able to do all the things they like to do together previously, but now with the knowledge that their relationship is not exactly real.

He wonders, though... What if his real feelings leak into their pretend. Or... perhaps embolden those feelings. What if it makes the feelings Monika has for him stronger, as well? What if their pretend ends up being real overtime? Would it be possible for them to let go when it comes to a pause?

No, he should be fine with their pretend relationship ending if it ever comes to that point. After all, he's fine with just being her friend, because at the end of the day, he simply wishes to have a trusted friend on his side. Surely he can be- and should be - emotionally mature when it comes to an end. Thus he won't speak the question in his mind.

No matter what the future hold for them after this, he's happy with her fleeting solution and delude himself into thinking nothing about this can go wrong.]

I can agree to that. However, you should make your boundaries clear to me.

[Don't want to ruin the good thing they're having by an accidental mistake.]
