a glimpse of home(sickness)

[ While Hilda hasn't been here nearly as long as the man on the other side of the bonfire, the pang of homesickness is no less intense. The feeling probably doesn't need any help from the seaberry gins she's had considering how fresh it is. Her head has been reeling with doubt that any of this is real and her heart aches with knowing that if what she does remember is true then that means a truth that not even drinks or a fun swirly straw can make her forget.

It's that same straw that she sips from again as her eyes begin to water for the umpteenth time. When was the last time she'd sat around a campfire like this? Probably not that long ago, she thinks. If time here worked the same as Fodlan then it had to have only been the night before. Whenever that had been she had been surrounded by friends, men and women that she had seen grown up with in Goneril. Despite the impossible task that lay ahead of them they had been optimistic about the fight ahead of them because they had had conviction and belief in their leader. The night had been filled with companionship and warmth even in the face of a daunting, terrifying force. And now? She was alone, surrounded by strangers with no idea of what to do next.

A voice draws her from her thoughts. Roughly she wipes any stray tears with the back of her hand, sniffling as softly as she can in an attempt to make her voice not sound thick or watery. ]

No - I just got here this morning. [ She can't help but let out a sound of amusement. ] I have to admit, it's reassuring to hear that none of this is just going to disappear by tomorrow morning. Although, is being here three months a good thing?
