[As a sorcerer himself, he's hardly fazed by some small supernatural display. It's a reason to keep a closer eye on the man if they cross paths again, in case he possesses abilities more potent than throwing sparks—both out of professional interest and as a precaution. On the other hand, he also doesn't have to be as guarded about his own abilities as he would be around a regular civilian.]

It's not the former. [His mood, to put it mildly, is low—and has been since his awakening here.] As for being a kind soul, that's for you to judge, not me.

[His actions are as up for interpretation as any other person even if he makes his intentions known. He can't dictate what others think of him. He does what he feels is right, but not in order to brag about being a good person. That would be the height of arrogance.]

Perhaps I just didn't want to entertain a sadist.

[After a few more muttered expletives from the sadistic portrait in question, the elevator resumes moving—though not without a sharp jerk as one last indication of its displeasure with their poor manners and performance.]
