he's reliable like that

[ having not yet located his lighter, Reno stalls the hunt, glancing up. it's perfectly obvious he's deeply contemplating whether to listen to that or not (not technically an order), but it's not being unruly that makes him abandon the search altogether and simply purse his lips around his unlit cigarette and leave it like that. it's the nagging thought in the back of his head that Rufus could still be sick, and while he's got no reason to assume a little cigarette smoke is going to kick him into his grave, even after that whole healing rain thing, and even if he is pretty sure time is fucking with him again, it's... probably better not to risk it until he's sure.

but he ain't putting it away. not yet. instead, he feigns an eyeroll, making the quick pass of his gaze along the ceiling of the elevator subtle as can be. there's an escape hatch, but neither of them are going to reach it without a boost. and does he really want to potentially be stuck in an elevator shaft again? (ugh.) ]

Eh. I can take or leave the "you've been a bad, bad boy" shit. Even the horny kind, which is more than definitely what he's talking about. That's the rub this whole place is built on.

[ he as in the portrait, which immediately begins spouting affronted accusations to the effect of how they both need to cleanse themselves and get what's coming to them, with an unsubtle and yet somehow very awkward inflection that basically screams yeah, horny punishments only. ]

If the punishment's supposed to fit the crime, then I figure it'd be a whole lot more grueling than all that no matter which one of us it's coming from, though. Unless the crime's supposed to be horny, too? Maybe that's it. You done anything nasty lately?

[ this could either be an amazing stalling tactic or the worst idea he's ever had, but that about sums up his life, so whatever. he's going with it. ]
